Marketplace forgot my apps for new HD7 ?? - HD7 General

I had an HD7, bought the flight control game and also installed demo of the harvest
I sold the HD7 and bought a new one, after setup the harvest game appeared but flight control didn't. It now wants to re-charge me for downloading.
Anyone know how to get around this bug ? or an MS email address I can sent to for help ?

In the zune software go to settings, account, computers and devices.
There you can change your phone, you first need to remove your old hd7 and then add your new one. But you can only do this once in the 30 days. The hd7 is now out for 20 days so if you delete the old hd7 now, you need to wait 10 days yo add your new own.

Not entirely accurate. You're right about the 30 days, but you can add up to 3 devices via the Zune software at any time -- all 3 in one day if you want. You can only REMOVE one device every 30 days. If the old phone is still listed, it can be removed as long as nothing else has been removed in the last 30 days. If the 3 device slots aren't full, you can add the additional device just by syncing some music or apps to it. The old device doesn't have to be removed for the new one to work as long as you have an empty space for the new device.

Blackberry ROM upgrade and problems with Activesync

I've upgraded to the latest ROM version and tried to get set up with blackberry, but I can't as I'm on a o2 online tariff unless I change to a normal o2 tariff. I'm in discussions about this at the moment, but that is not the problem as such.
The problem is that because I've installed the BB ROM version but not activated it, when I sync to my PC I get all the options (email, contacts, etc, etc) but NOT the CALENDAR! The option is now greyed out as it expects you to use BB to sync the calendar! I only noticed the problem of not syncing the calendar last night when I created a new appointment on my PC but it didn't copy to my PDA. Everything else works fine.
I've tried both 3.8 and 3.7.1 activesync and soft reset the PDA loads of times to no avail. If you also have the problem there isn't much more you can do without reverting the ROM.
I've spoken to o2 the support and they were only made aware of the bug this morning and expect to have a new ROM in the next few weeks and are advising people in the same boat to wait rather than trying to downgrade to the previous ROM version
The old Online Thing
Well I took the online thing to the top and they are now moving me to a normal Tarriff adn giving me 3 months free blackberry, and they are now looking into why the Online Billing system wasn't updated to allow blackberry as an add on.
My trick was to look at mmO2.com take a list of the top names, then [email protected] and CC them / web care / data team / [email protected] Within in 3 hours I had a call from the Customer Care Exec and things where rolling.
Should be sorted by tomorrrow morning I hope, I wonder if they will be putting blackberry on the XDA EXEC? If they do I had a look in the O2 shop today and it does look shhwwwweeeettttt.

Cool - can you email me the details and I'll have a go at them as well. I'm a bit annoyed to say the least as I bought this instead of a blackberry as they said it would be enabled for blackberry shortly, they forgot to mention there would be a restriction on they tariff!
Once the upgrade is complete I will give you the Customer Exec Number and they will be able to help you.
Its taken best part of a day for the transfer waiting for the GPRS TO come online now so I'd rather wait till I ahve BB working fully
Also I noticed they took off the Inernet Mail PDF from the MY-XDA Website as well because of all of this.

Blackberry costs
Hi
Does anyone who was on a normal voice plan and has added blackberry know how much it costs to do so?
thanks
Dan
ps. the calendar synchronizes fine with exhange server (without blackberry)... so must be an issue with the local pc...
Ok I think I may have made a mistake by registering for www.o2email.co.uk and now I can't get my BES to work with the handset?
Any Ideas?
Cheers

Now had BB authorised after having to switch to a 'High St' tariff from an 'online tariff'.
The cost is a standing charge of £15 per month on top of my normal monthly tariff for a limited amount of data per month. If you go over you data amount, additional charges are made per Mb. Have to see what my monthly charges are going to be like when the bill arrives.
When you get BB authorised, you set up your email details via a web page - you can also put in filters to stop spam from being forwarded to your XDA although they will still go to your normal email client on your PC.
Now have the calendar sync'ing to my PC with BB enabled. There is a bug with the o2 ROM version which disables the calendar when you install the BB software (not when you flash this ROM version).
I was sent a work around while a new ROM is being written. The only problem is if you soft reset the XDA, you have to follow the work around to re-enable the calendar sync again.

WIMP - Where Is My Phone

I’ve found a mint piece of software that no Kaiser owner should be without.
It comes with a trial period and u should check it out.
I was looking for some software that would help secure my phone and came across this. http://www.wimp-software.co.uk)
It’s supposedly designed to help you find your phone (yeh right, I aint gonna lose my £500 phone) but me and my mate have had a **** load of fun with it.
It’s pretty cool.
If you read the instructions, you can basically text the phone, but the other person doesn’t get the text message. The software grabs this coded text message and sends you back the gps position of the phone. It also gives you a link to google maps which is great if you’ve got Opera installed on your phone. (Don’t try PIE, it doesn’t work)
I gotta say, I’ve seen a lot of cool software around, but this one is SO cool. I only wish my girlfriend had a Kaiser. I could have so much fun with this.
The only thing I would add to the software though, is to know I was being WIMPED. Maybe a little SMS noise, or the icon changed or something, but I do suppose that it was written for phone theft. I haven’t tried it yet, but it also claims that if you change the SIM card in the phone it’ll SMS you with the number of the new SIM card.
sounds kinda cool!
All I can say is try it out. WIMP yourself lol. It's kinda fun finding out where you are
You gotta check this out - track your phone!
This is a great bit of kit - I just tried this out on my Eten M700 and gave it to my girlfriend whilst she went to the shop. I could text her and see exactly where she was - it sent me back:
Latitude:51°24.740913'N
Longitude:2°29.562757'W
Speed: 0 MPH
Satellites: 9
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=51.41234855,-2.49271261666667+(PHONE+LOCATION)&t=h&z=19
You've gotta try this out!
Yeh, same here, but mine was only where I was
I really wish my girlfriend had a WM6 phone with GPS.
Big brother, here we come.
lost phone
I can imagine this would be handy if I lost my phone (again). I accidently misplaced my last phone - at £500 a pop you can't do that too often. With this I would have been able to find exactly where it was, even if someone changed the SIM
WIMP and IIWPO on one phone would rock!
That's a brilliant idea.
I'm gonna email them and put a few enhancement requests in.
This is one of the best bits of software I've seen for ages, and I reckon the IIWPO would also benefit the software.
I've done a bit of googling and they must be fairly new as I can't find much on the software, but I'll keep you updated to see if I get a response.
not gonna be possible until the good chaps here work out how to unlock the extrom of the kaiser or something like that I would imagine - it needs to be installed again on hard reset to be of any theft recovery value.
I've seen it done on things like my Athena, so I don't think it will be long till it happens
eventually... yes.
Can't wait for IIWPO for my kaiser, sure I have it insured, but I would have to bring swift, brutal retribution in person on anyone who stole my beloved black beauty.
But being able to track them with it even when they weren't at the home address they typed in would maybe help get it back sooner, and open up ambush possibilities
Very true. I reckon it wont be long till they add it in personally.
I've seen loads of software out there that does SIM change notification, and owner change notification, but not the whoie package, including GPS location.
I think these guys are on to a winner, and I for one am certainly gonna buy this.
What can I say, It's mint!
wow, this is an awesome idea. i plan to try it out once i get my phone for sure. great find.
Brilliant find and brilliant software. I too will be trying this when I get my phone!
Talk about impulse buying.
I just bought it. It costs £10 GBP and you need to provide them with your email address and your IMEI number. The website only accepts paypal (not a problem for me)
The cool thing is as soon as the PayPal payment went through it came back immediately with the unlock code.
What can I say, I'm impatient, but it's great.
Interesting
So... I played around with it and it rocks... I am definately buying this.
Made me realize something kinda scary.... Just follow me for a second here.
The Kaiser has everything.......
1. Cameras on both sides.
2. GPS
3. A Microphone
3. A record of our:
A. Internet browsing History
B. Contact Info
C. Call History
D. Almost all of our personal info... (Depending on how we use it)
4. And... last but not least... and the most important... the ability to be connected to the net all the time...
With all these features... and a program that runs on a personal computer that connects to the phone via the web and can operate all of the above features, but not letting the phone user know the features are in operation.... turns the kaiser into the perfect spy device, or, BIG BROTHER bug.
Think about it... With the right aplication, one could know, where you are, what you look like, what your doing, what your saying, and any personal info you choose to store on your kaiser.
Kinda scary huh????
JB
I definately wish my girlfriend had a kaiser now
Absolutely valid points there JB. I reckon all software developers for mobile phones should check out this site. Then we would end up with the ULTIMATE bit of anti-theft, big brother, all singing and dancing software

no need to worry, she is just fine, im taking good care of her
sounds like good software though, cant wait to get my kaiser and try this out on it.. sounds cheap enough to buy anyway..
Very cool app, I loaded it and gave it a spin. Sent it the code and watched the Kaiser wake, spark up the orange GPS indicator for about 20 seconds and within about 1 minute my other phone received the text message with Lat/Lon and Google Map Link. I only wish there were a way to do this from a PC, the google link would be a lot easier to work with then.
I purchased the prog. Two Issues;
1 - The Wimp web site asked for my IMEI number but their form accepted all but 2 digits of my code. Their site processed my order and emailed me a s/n code which is now not accepted by the prog. I've got an email in to their support folks.
2 - This prog places an icon in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. I don't like any icons there. Is there a way to get rid of that Icon and allow access to the prog thru an Icon/Link placed in "Settings" or "Programs"?
Other than that, I never would have believed that there could be such a clever and small application!
Edit, Tech support sorted the code by re-issuing a new code based on my full IMEI, their site is new and just getting started. Their response was really quick. Also you can enter the app and select "quit", the app will clear from the task bar, BUT, it will still respond to the code request. After a request, the icon will return to the task bar, hmmm a way to know if you've been "Wimped"
Also, I also tried it one time when a fix was not possible. It woke and tried to get a fix for it's allotted time period (3min default setting). After the timeout, it sent a text message telling me that it could not get a fix. So at least you would know that the phone is talking to you!

Tilt already coming named?

Hi,
I'm new and I'm happy to be a member this site. I just received my new at&t tilt a couple of days ago. I installed the activesync software on my computer and connected my device via usb. When my device came up on my computer and I ran the short device installation my devices name was "Johnson" ... Is it suppose to come named already? Or would somebody have to had named it? Should I be alarmed? Did I get a used Tilt?
One more question, how do you delete the 10 songs that are already preloaded on the Tilt's memory?
Thanks everyone for your help. I'm so excited to have this phone. I can't wait to dive into it and do all the customizeing that I've seen. I hope to learn a lot from you guys and gals.
where did you purchase it? by default the activesync name should be something like ATT_TILT (im using a cooked rom so its something like HTC_TYTNII) so it sounds like its used..whats the call duration when you goto start>settings>device info>call duration tab ?
The call duration is showing 0's all the way accross. I haven't activated the phone yet. It should be activated tomorrow. Could the call duration time possibly be reset?
When I first turned the phone on I did go through all the set up processes like if it were brand new ...
Is there a way to change the name?

Strange...unless you had active sync on your computer before?
Don't think you can easily reset the usage timer, even on a hard reset.
I just installed 6.1, and it didn't reset the timer.

I bought it from newegg.com. I think they outsource though through a company called simplexity I believe.
Thanks reaper, that worked.
Thanks 007 for the welcome. Anything you could recommend that i could get started on?
Getting Started
If you haven't already, read the manual that is on the CD that came with your phone. That will always be the best place to start. Next, start browsing the forums and do some reading. After that, use the 'Search' feature to get to know what's out there and what you can do with your phone.
I've been lurking here for a couple of days, having just received my Tilt, but am finding this site to be invaluable. I also regularly visit mobilitysite.com, which used to be devoted to the Dell Axim I used to have. Quite a friendly bunch over there, just like we have here.

[Q] Do you advise me to buy this phone ?

Hi everyone
I want to buy this phone, but before that I would like to know from you guys
if you found any disadvantages of it ??
and is it really that I cannot use bluetooth to send file and music ...atc things
because WM 7 dont support it ????
wish you all to help me..
Hi, I got my HD7 delivered this afternoon and have traditionallly used HTC hardware from the HTC Exec upwards. The thing about the so called all singing, all dancing HD7 is that it's made in the guise of an iphone which means that unlike previous HTC's and windows OS you cannot interrogate this phone at all.
You have no access to the storage space, you can't arbitrarily use certain types of apps other than the limited few on the market place. Any exchange or updating of information has to be done via Zune or Windows Live.
Example : A great little app by the name of PIM Backup. Backed up email, sms's, any callse made that day, tasks, contacts.....basically any change of information was backed up automatically that day when you scheduled. You could even port the back ups to other HTC devices. Now, unless you've got a windows live account, you can't back up or sync previous information........not even via active sync as the usb on the HTC is purely for charging the phone and not for communication.
Windows Media Player has always been piss poor on all HTC devices so a beautiful little app call TCPMP allowed you to do all the things windows player couldn't do i.e play various types of media files without the need for conversion.......now, you can't use it because there's no way to port it onto your device.
In a nutshell you've got no controll over the device or the hardward and the phone itself is frustratingly poor.
Will happily sell this phone to anyone who wants to buy it off me as can't send it back now as it's my second choice after returning an equally poor Dell Steak.
Go for the HD2..................beautiful piece of hardware and fully customisable and can be plugged directly into PC via usb which gives you access to the storage on the phone itself.
I think the best option would be to read the many reviews online and also look at videos on Youtube. There are also websites that allow you to browse the Windows Market place so you can get a feel for what apps are available.
I have had my HD7 for 2 months now (since launch) and even though there are a few bugs and like the poster above said this phone is locked down, I wouldn't part with it now. Apps are appearing all the time (remember it's 2 months old, so pretty much a baby, Android and Apple are much older and dated looking systems), MS hasn't yet released any bug fixes or improvements but they are on the way.
Unlike the poster above, I think the HD7 is much better than the HD2 with WM 6.5, I have been a Windows Mobile (WinCE) users for about 10 years, the HD2 finally was the best Windows Mobile phone ever! The problem? Windows Mobile is dead! If you buy an HD2 now you're wasting your money. Outside of xda-devs, no one is developing for it anymore. Yes you can fudge Androind onto the HD2 (which I have), but that's just like having Windows Mobile anyway. Go figure!!!
If you want something to customise to hell, go for Android, if you want a phone that is groundbreaking go for WP7, if you want a phone with a well (and now looking dated) echo system, then go for Apple.
Or why don't you find a store that will let you hold one to try?
There is also this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847822 (note: it is the sticky of this forum) to look at.
Closed because there are enough of these thread.

[Q] Old git needs advice.

Regrets, I’ve had a few. Been a lurker here for many years, after I purchased my XDA many moons ago. Really happy with it at the time and the custom roms and bits you cleaver guys developed for wm5, updated to wm6…but the phone was frustrating slow and had a habit of crashing.
I upgraded to a HTC HD Mini, again thank you for all the upgrades you guys did… wm6.5, something I wouldn’t have the first clue about. I recently damaged the LCD with isopropyl and had to replace the LCD and digitiser….whilst waiting for parts, and with the pretence that I potentially couldn’t fix the phone I ordered a Nokia Lumia 820.
I’ve had the Nokia 820 wp8 for 48 hours, I feel as if I’ve purchased a box of chocolates but can’t get past the cellophane.
I had to sign in to my Hotmail account to download a unit converter app, now the phone is receiving my Hotmail emails and I can’t uninstall it. Just done a factory reset.
Every time I pick the phone up it wants me to sign in, connect to wifi or gsm…I can’t even explore the files on the phone. Before I send the phone back is there a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel or have I made a mistake sticking with Microsoft, as an old fart I was hoping for some familiarity.

I'm sorry. What is wrong with what you've just said? android and ios are the same. You can't use a marketplace without signing in. and the files are mostly subordinate to the apps that can read them, android is an exception for what as been for a long time in the phone market, but it does the whole contacts/gmail/etc thing as wp8. You might be able to disable email syncro though, if you dislike that much reading email on a phone. Can you explain to us WHY did you buy a smartphone if you don't use any of the characteristics that makes one so?
The wp8 experience is one of seamless integration with social networks, work networks (email, office documents),apps services, you can't have that without a Microsoft account.

Thanks for the reply,
I guess I was hoping wp8 was going to be more like windows, for example the phone has built in gps but I have no way of accessing it…ie grid reference.
The reason I went for a smart phone, ie htc hd mini is ease of carrying a single device when traveling. I don’t need wifi or a GSM reception to use the htc for satnav (map grid and tomtom), radio or to watch films or listen to mp3’s.
For work, I need a phone, camera, gps, removable sd, replaceable battery and entertainment when stuck in boring hotel rooms.

lol first.. what use is gps without a map. and wp8 has native offline maps ready to download. you're trying to use a modern smartphone like a nokia 6600, that's why you're having problem. Try using it the way it's supposed to - the modern always online world.
By the way, yes, you absolutely can disable email sync (not sure why you'd want to; email sync is incredibly handy, one of the things I use every single day on my phone, but OK) either when you set up the account, or by going to Settings -> Email + Accounts and tapping on the account in question.
Installing apps does, indeed, require store access (OK, mostly; there's limited support for sideloading, and one of the things the hacking community is working on is improving that). Store access is tied to you Microsoft account (as on Win8 or Steam or something like that).
The old days of "it's a handheld computer!" (not that that was ever entirely true) are largely gone, although, again, this is the kind of thing that we're trying to bring back.
If you download the maps onto the device it includes a license for worlwide offline navigation (in supported countries - that means: if they have the mapping data, which they have I believe for ~ 80 countries worldwide). The same Maps are used in Here Maps and if downloaded work offline as well.
There is no file explorer though. If you transfer files to the Documents folder they will show up in the office hub. If you put files in the music folder they will show up in the Music Hub, etc.
So all in all you can't be completely offline due to the application store but otherwise you should be able to do everything you want with your WP8 device, although it works differently.

There are many annoying things about my HD mini wm6.5, but since I've fixed the screen and got the reception back as good as new (antenna connection) I've found a new respect for the phone. I'm thinking about sending the Nokia wp8 back, prematurely it feels as I haven't received the new sim or sd card yet, so I haven't actually used it. I'm also considering purchasing another HD mini as back up.
I wish I had the level of understanding you guys have, I'd love the ability to be able to program and customize the device to my liking but the reality is I'm hanging on coattails. I was hoping wp8 would be an improved version of wm6.5.
Thanks for the advice.
Charlie.
The difference between Windows Phone and Windows Mobile is deeper than the branding, but the branding is intended as a tip-off that they are *not* the same thing.
Windows Phone is a smartphone in the sense that iOS is a smartphone; it's pretty "smart" for a phone, but even Microsoft wouldn't have marketed it as a "PocketPC".

Charlie.

The point is that there is very little amount of "personalization" possible. Try to use it instead as it is.
