Hi
Firstly I have searched and read most of the forum...
After installing Z4Root successfully (no problem), I installed oclf from the market, then clicked on install ex2 tools successfully (no problem) then clicked on install lag fix 2.2+ (failed)
It ran through everything (copy etc) then eventually said 'failed'... It then automatically rebooted, but now ALL apps have Force Close (has stopped unexpectedly) plus vibration ~ Once you have pressed 'Force Close' for all the of them you are left with a black screen with the bar at the top showing signal, battery and time, thats it.!
Please tell me how to go backwards as I can't get to oclf to un-install anything..??
What do I do now..?
Can I re-install JPO via download method, or will this not work because of it being rooted..?? If I can, do I use Re-Partition..??
Help would be very appreciated... HELP.! :-(
Thanks
Phone: UK Galaxy S / 2.2 JPO (all unlocked etc) ~ download mode is available
Best option would be to reflash xwjm8 with re-part and then flash jpo both with 512 pit
Do not repart when flashing jpo
This should be in the QnA section
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks for the reply and as I thought... The fact that it has been rooted will make no difference to re-flashing..?? Correct..??
One other question I have just downloaded JM8 from samfirmware and extracted the files but there is no CSC file in the rar..? Do I not need it ~ I thought I did.??
Thanks

That's probably a combo file so it has everything you need in one file, just use that as PDA with 512 pit and you should be fine.

Sort of, it contains the CODE and MODEM but no CSC...
So just to check, I should use only the CODE file (CODE_I9000XWJM8.tar) as the PDA with 512 pit and repartition on as the first flash (before JPO)..??
No MODEM or CSC file required..? Correct.?
Thanks
download csc from here...

ok, successfully flashed back to JM8 (see screen shot) BUT still getting Force Close for everything..??
Any ideas please...? Have I bricked it..??

it happens, flash again and do a wipe after flash.
After the second successful flash, the home screen picture and 'sweep glass to unlock' is back BUT after that all applications are still FC ... I can't get into keypad or the menu (or anything else either)..?
If you clear all the FC's then your back to the black screen with the status bar at the top (signal, battery & time). If you let the screen time out then press menu button you see the home screen picture with 'sweep glass to unlock' again...
What do you mean by a wipe after flash..? Hard Reset? Can't, no menu or keypad..?
Sorry, any more ideas..?

from recovery mode (turn on phone by pressing vol up+central button+power, release power button for a second when you see on screen "galaxy s bla bla bla" then press again until you reach recovery). from there you can perform "wipe cache partition" (you can move in that menu with volume rocker and select with central button). hope this helps.

Factory Reset ~ That's the one..!!! ~ Thanks to everyone for your help.
I've now got back to JPO again ~ back where I started..!
One question, I presuming that JPO is not a 'full flash' as to get there you have to do JM8 first and then flash JPO (without re-partition)...
If I'm correct, when will they release a full 2.2 release..??
Thanks again

Guys,
Just updated to froyo 2.2 but i didn't remove the lag fix before hand...
now my galaxy S is just stuck on the S loading screen and never loads.
For some reason ive never been able to enter recovery using the volume+home+power button, the only way was through command prompt SDK
Now my obviously problem is, i can't boot the phone so can't reboot into recovery that way.
HELP!
goto samfirmware and download your original firmware with bootloader.
Flash via odin and it should boot you straight into recovery.
Or check out the post I just commented on in this same section.
Cheers,
BS...
Hi - can't see the bootloader on that site :S
they should all come with a bootloader, just download your original firmware.
download odin v1.3, beside the firmware you are downloading should be a PIT number.
Goto the bottom of the page and download that pit number.
Open Odin, and set your pit and pda.
Then set your phone to download mode,
connect, flash, and you should boot directly into recovery
I can't enter download mode. neither 3 button mode works, never has done, can't use up or down for recovery or download.
The only way i've ever been able to get into a recovery console was through ADB.exe which requires the phone to be booted lol.
hmm... lol I dont know man. you might need to return your phone :-(

Reboot with the up button on the left, the right one, and the home one.
and then full factory reset, and cache clean.
then reboot and wait
Exact same problem here ... not luck through ADB or FASTBOOT. Stuck!
I have the same issue. Please help.
Same here...I cant get into recovery mode with the 3-button solution
I killed my SGS by installing the new JP6 without removing the OCLF first! I've had no three button recovery option for yonks. After much faffing, I managed to sort it.
Here comes the science bit:
Download JG5 from here. Use the ROMraid link in the Requirements section
Use Odin with the pit, PDA, MODEM and CSC files, not forgetting to tick repartition
This will get you back to 2.1, without a lagfix. Now install the newly released Froyo and enjoy.
Cheers,
BS...
It's an utter nightmare not being able to get into recovery/download. think i'm gonna have to send it off

Damn! I'm clicking that link, witch directs me to "coblitz codeen org www romraid com paul galaxys JG5.zip"
i've tried just "www romraid com paul galaxys JG5.zip" and it redirects me to modaco dot com
What do i have to do to download it?????????
Hi, i finally completed the download, had to change some DNS and routes using some proxies
So, I'm really new to android, and i've got a few questions
1) how am i supposed to flash my Galaxy S if i can't turn it on to make my pc recognize it?
2) Brownstone mentioned PDA, CSC and MODEM files. In JG5.zip I have: CODE, CSC and MODEM files. And Odin asks me PDA, PHONE and CSC.
So how will I fill in Odin's fields?
PDA = CODE_I9000XWJG5.tar
PHONE = MODEM_I9000XXJG1.tar
CSC = CSC_I9000XXJG4.tar
??
is that correct?
Im pretty new to androids and I installed the Battery Icon Mod without realising that I could harm my phone. Now on reboot it gets passed the "S" screen but just sits there with a black screen and vibrates every 2 min.
Im a bit unsure what to do from here.
The details of my phone are:
Build#FROYO.DTJP5
BaseBand I9000DTJP3
PDA: TJP5
Phone: DTJP3
CSC OPSJP4
Build:2010.11
Austrailian, Optus Network.
I recently reverted from recovery 3e to 2e (no clockwork Recovery) and did the fix to enable the 3 button recovery (Im very glad I did this now!!). I also got root with z4root and have a full app and system backup on my sdcard with Titanium backup
I dont know too much about the details of flashing (Although I was learning as much as possible as I wanted to apply the z4mod with EXT2 lagfix).
What should I try first to minimise damage and get back to as stock as possible?
edit:
I should just add that I have gone to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 and found what I believe to be my firmware I9000DTJP5|2.2|2010 November listed under USA, would this be the same? I have also downloaded the CSC file which dosent seem to include my version (Do i even need to flash this file??)
Thanks in advance!

Still got black screen and intermittent vibrating. When I press the back button I also get vibration.
Do I need to flash? If so what files do I need to flash? Just the PDA?

My problem is actually a bit worse. Well, maybe. I'm stuck in the, "phone ! pc" loop. For other phones, you can just remove the battery, and then press the three buttons, but for the tab, since the battery can't be removed, I have no idea how to fix it.
You can try this, though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939360
Here's another thread that may help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
1. Go to http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm and download the firmware for your device. (you must register first)
2 download the flashing guide and make sure you follow all the steps (without the part to remove the battery) http://www.samfirmware.com/SVC Android/P1000 Flashguide.pdf

i have the solution on your problem igot that phone and pc icon...
all u have to do is flash the file
*open odin then connect your tab
*click repartition
*click pit then select the file u downloaded
*then click start then that's it just wait for it to pass then it'll now boot
the phone ! pc icon is also download mode so u wont have to do the download mode just connect it to you computer and make sure odin detects your tab
hope it will work for you sorry for the bad instruction
Tried your solution didnt work
Mine didn't work with Odin too. It worked with Heimdall instead.
1. First, I downloaded ROTO JMI from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939360
2. Press the power + volume down button. It'll still have the phone ! PC icon, but it will already trigger itself to go to download mode.
3. Unzip and then extract the tar from the ROTO JMI.
4. Using heimdall, put everything inside the extracted file to its appropriate filed. You won't need the moveend.
5. Flash. Do NOT remove your tab.
6. It'll auto-reboot
Very busy at the moment, really appreciate your help will try your solution later and post results

When you unzip a compressed file, you will see a number of files inside like cahce, factory data, etc. Just put them in the corresponding field in Heimdall. As for the zImage file, put it under the image field.
Edit: @andrew - mine was in the logo for like 5 minutes. Even up to now it still takes around the same time to boot.

Well first you are going to have to achieve either recovery or download mode.
Recovery: hold volume up + home and the hold power until the first screen pops up. Keep holding for about half a second. Which longer than instant lol
Download: same as above but volume down.
If you get to recovery try a wiping cache and dalvik. Then try boot up. If that doesn't work then you'll have to wipe/factory reset from recovery.
If that doesn't work then either download a stock firmware by Ramad on the general forum or go sammobile.com or type in darky in Google and go to his website and navigate to full releases. From there click on the latest for your phone sgs i9000. Scroll down to instructions and look for the link for 10.2 re or something similar. Its the Odin flashable rom. Alternatively just look for a from you like and flash it. If you have recovery you may be able to use CWM flash able zips otherwise you will need Odin flash able files from the places above.
Darky rom will retain root and is a custom from so it'll be easier to move to another custom from if you flash that.
That cover everything

Yes you can use a jig that would be easiest and best for the future in-case you run into this again...
However i don't understand why download or recovery is not working if you are already on custom, you have achieved it before right? If not use a video to help.
However if the standard methods do not work then there are sill some tricks..
1. Take out the battery>>>Hold the button combo>>>Insert battery whilst holding combo>>>When the boot screen appears (Samsung GT-I9000) hold for about half a second/whole second then release>>>Wait. If it continues to boot loop again then take out battery
2. From task manager close all Kies apps/processes>>>Put your usb cable in>>>plug in your phone>>>hold the combo>>>Wait.
3.Take out battery>>>Do all of 2>>>When the USB is connected to phone whilst holding the combo insert battery>>>Wait.
4. Repeat 3 with charger instead of the USB cable
If none of that works then yes i think you will need to make or buy the jig. (Or borrow if you can). But also do a search as im not sure if i covered all the tricks. There used to be a thread on it in the general section, try search for it.

Sammoblie.com, [Ramad] Stock Firmware or Darky 10.2RE
Sammobile.com is straight forward. Click on smartphone, then android etc. Just follow the clicks then you select the FW that is relevant to you based on country and provider... If use the Ramad link then you will need your csc code which will be retrievable from the sammobile site its at the bottom.
Good luck

1. Ultimate ROM is it ICS? if yes install samsung drivers.exe from the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
2. Download stock ROM for your phone from samfirmware.com or alternatively you can use Darky's ROM
3. you will need Odin to flash the ROM it is included with Darky's ROM as is a read me file with instructions.
4. Start Odin make sure no kies processes are running if installed. If they are running Kill the processes
5. Boot phone to download mode using jig. Remove jig from phone. Plug USB cable into phone. wait for odin to detect phone then flash.
NOTE you may have to Flash once with re-partition ticked and then once without to get the rom completely booted.
Once running it is suggested to perform factory reset

Stock ROM would be what the phone was shipped with. ie carrier branded OS etc.
Darky's should work or from Samfirmware.com once registered select firmwares. Type "smartphone" OS "android" model "your model" region "your region"
you should then be left with a selection of firmwares for your handset/region
download the suitable version

From what you describe I will assume that your computer is running windows 7. This being the case the file downloaded needs to be extracted so that you are left with 1 file called JVG_JV5_JV4
You say that you are now left with file called JVG_JV5_JV4. Have you downloaded a PIT file? If not find 512 PIT at the bottom of this post.
Once PIT file is downloaded extract file.
Select PIT and add pit file
Select PDA and then select the file extracted JVG_JV5_JV4
Then flash.
As stated before you may have to flash with repartition selected once and then once with out.
This should get you going again.

when you are saying that it is doing nothing is odin flash failing ??
Flash completing and then phone not booting??
If the stock ROM is not working try Darky's 10.2 as it will generally work when other methods fail.
Mate , I can not thank you enough i tried again after i last put message on here and all done i now have 2.3.6 and as far as i am concerned all ok now. I did have to get into recovery mode after i used Odin for mob to start up and just did a system rebbot or should i say factory rebbot. No problem mate.
Just trying to help where i can
Good afternoon,
I have a S5830 here.
Basically my cousin bought it from some one, it was running cyanogenmod.
He didn't like it so asked me to flash stock firmware.
I did so using Odin.
Now the phone is stuck on a bootloop.
Sometimes it even gets to the main menu & then reboots.
Sometimes it just reboots after the samsung animation, depends on which firmware really.
I've tried a couple, no luck, tried flashing a custom rom, no luck.
Tried clearing cache, factory reset and formatting /data /system etc in advance settings & mounting, still no luck.
Tried KIES emergency recovery, still no luck.
Read a bunch of different threads and tried the suggestions there, still no luck.
I think this could possibly be the problem.
When flashing with Odin and the phone gets to a certain stage and displays the following.
Code:
Finding update Package...
Opening update Package...
-- Appling Muti-CSC --
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEU
/system'.
Formatting /cache...
--Appling Muti-CSC --
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEU
/system'.
Rebooting...
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
bump
after flashing the firmware with odin , go to the recovery and do a full wipe data and wipe cache, you can go to recovery by pressing (power + home + volume up) then reboot and it will work, and you have to wait l little bit

Already tried that mate.
It'll get to the setup screen and a second or two later it will reboot.

Hi G-STAR01, in S5830, you go to the recovery by pressing at the same time just two buttons Home+Power .
You could try it and do the wipes.
Good luck.

I know.
What I meant by my previous message was that I went into recovery menu (Home+Power), wiped data and cache.
After that I rebooted the phone, it gets to the home screen/setup screen and then reboots and does the same thing.
It would be good if you state the steps you did to flash through Odin.
- How did you get into Download Mode?
- What are the files you used to flash via Odin?
- From where you took the files?

Hi G-STAR01, you could try this (from Hubix's guide):
[*]If archive contains only .tar.md5 select it as PDA and OPS as OPS, leave other fields EMPTY
Good luck.

Just tried it with the H3G firmware.
.tar.md5 as PDA and OPS as OPS.
Still got the same problem, I also tried another wipe after that but still the same.

No.
Try changing the CSC for your Phone. Odin error message states that it can't access to the particular folder where the necessary files are present.
Possible ways to me are changing the CSC to the correct one.
You mentioned that you tried flashing Multiple Package too. In that, for CSC(GT-S5830-csc-LUXKP1.tar.md5) you used a file which can be renamed to CSC_GT-S5830_LUXKP1_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
Just try it. Can't assure you as a solution but trying is worth it
Just an update.
I tried all the suggestions and others but couldn't get it to work.
Luckily he was able to send it to Samsung for a repair under warranty, they repaired it.
