Wow kind of glad I wasnt the only one with this issue. How to we tell Cyan?
Well, that.
Mine hasn't worked for quite a while now, and I always have my gapps updated. It just keeps crashing every time I try to send any linkto my phone.

Not having much success with it either... Message says sent to phone, but my phone never responds.
Used to work perfectly, so I don't think it CM in general, but maybe the more recent builds?

Its wierd with this issue, sometimes it works(since loading cm6 rc1 it works...sorta) sometimes it doesnt or just takes a while to receive. Im not a tech genius by any means so i dont know for sure why it happens but the issue is present.
Are you guys in an area with bad reception? Mine works instantly.
doesn't work for me either.
on a separate note, I hate the chrome to phone browser extension because it doesn't remember login credentials
+1 It's really badly implemented. It's often more effective to send the link via email...

Works fine here on CM6.1

Force closes every time i try and send something. But i found if i get it to send the notification, rather than automatically launch, the notification stays and is still usable.
I found a fix/workaround. Try assigning a notification sound (you don't actually have to turn notification sounds on). Once I did that, the crashing stopped. It works even with auto launch enabled.
i just cleared Chrome to Phone data and re-connected with my account, and all is well

Google talk will not stay signed in, or is randomly disconnecting and reconnecting later. I've checked my sync and power settings it shouldn't be an idle issue or data connection problem because i have full signal. I didn't have this issue with the Aria?
anyone else having this?
So am I the only one? Did I get a defective device?

is it giving you any kind of error message? I had that problem ALL THE TIME with my blackberry torch. It kept logging me out saying internal error. That's honestly one of the reasons i got the android. So google apps would work right. I've not had any issues with my google talk. Have you tried logging in with another account just to see if it makes any difference?

no error at all, i lauch the app and it either greys out and i have to back out and lauch again to get the signing in message or i get the signing in message.
I never had these issues with my Aria, i wondered if this version (with the camera/voice options) might have a bug?
tried multiple accts same issue.
i called HTC and the guy said hit home screen instead of backing out of the app to force it to keep running but that did no good. he also asked if i had a task manager and I said only the htc one that came with the phone. He said android comes with that now???? anyway i told the htc one to not start on startup just to see if that was causing any issues but no change.
i still randomly get disconnected from gtalk.
I don't know what to suggest then, that's strange Until we get root it'd be kind of hard to "mess up" an app like that. So I have no idea why it won't stay connected. Maybe take it into an AT&T store, show them, and ask for a new one? IDK if that'd work or not...

no, i don't use that.
in fact, i went through all (i could find) htc/android setting making sure it wasn't a power setting turning off my data or something crazy like that.
Been having the same issue on my inspire for months. Annoying as hell. Tried clearing data and everything else. Just have to live with it.

I have had the same issue since day one.
Google Talk won't stay signed in except on wi-fi
I have a Galaxy S II w/ ICS 4.0.3 on T-mobile and have the same issues. I have done a master reset and have the issue still. I have 3 accounts on G Talk and all sign out when using network only but will stay signed in on wi-fi. It's annoying. I have also tried unchecking the "Away when screen off" box and still no luck.
I've moved on from the Aria, the Vivid and the S3 has not had this issue with me.
Hey guys. First of all, I do have a working connection, but there's one problem though. Whenever my phone is on mobile data, some apps just work weird.
Gtalk: I am signed in, chatting with someone, then I put the phone away for a few minutes. The next time I check Gtalk, it is offline. It doesn't even want to get online until I turn 3G off and back on or I restart the app, then it works for a while (random) and then happens again.
Facebook: I browse the news feed and at some point (random) when i reach the bottom of the page and it should load the earlier posts, it just rolls the little circle but nothing happens. Closing the app and restarting it solves the problem, but again, temporalily.
Life is Magic (game): It can hang anytime between loading the levels or whenever it needs data connection.
Whenever these things happen, and I fire up the browser, it works... but despite that, Gtalk still wouldn't go online until I restart it. This happened on every every JB (LPY,LPQ,LQB) so far. I am using CoCore kernel, no other mods.
Thanks for help or any ideas!
Same problem here with gtalk . It has been offline on all version and combination of JB and kernels.can someone provide me stock gtalk app.so that I can re install

you can download a google apps package from here: http://goo.im/gapps
i tried that one too though, still the same. the problem is with the way certain apps using mobile networks, i believe. it doesn't happen on wifi.
Guys, really no one else uses Google Talk?
Still, I believe the problem is with 3G.
Yeah, like you guys said, this happens to me on every official firmwares and only when I'm on 3g. (Just noticed now that you guys mention it)
I had to turn off and on the 3g for it to be active again. I don't use gtalk but it happens with gmail, stock email, fb, xda-app and tapatalk too among others.
As mentioned, it's totally random and usually happens when left by itself for a while. Until now, the only workaround I used is like you guys, just to turn it off and on again.
Until now I thought it was a problem with my ISP but guess it wasn't.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda premium
probably not. but still, turning it on and off doesn't solve the problem because Gtalk goes offline after a while and I don't receive messages which is the whole pont
also, facebook app stops refreshing the news feed as I scroll down...
up...
does anyone have a solution yet? are there others affected?
UPDATE: i went back to Gingerbread thinking that it will solve my problem. But that just doesn't happen, gtalk goes offline, i am not getting facebook messages etc,etc...
I think I should take this phone to the service.

Should i update the zip using recovery or can I individually install the app i want
Hi y'all! Well, I have done some extensive searching to see if this issue is plaguing anyone else. First off, I am running Team Insomnia's AOIP 4.2 08/03/13 build and it is by far the best ROM I have tried on this phone! The only actual issue I have I cannot figure out if it is ROM related or a problem with Talkatone (or VoIP entirely) itself. There for a bit, Talkatone was updating every day and coincidentally it was around the same time I put this ROM on my phone. The issue is Talkatone will run fine in the background and stay connected, but as soon as I get a call, go to make a call, SMS, whatever, basically when the app has to be opened, it will just simply close out. No FC error dialog, just closes. Then it will start back up and repeat the cycle. Sooooo, I then tried to use Groove IP, but it simply will not sign in. There are a couple apps that will work, but they're not really the ones I want to use. I tried to use Hangouts but it won't receive calls. This is really annoying lol. I basically want to know if anyone else with any of the custom JB ROMs are having any VoIP problems?? Thank you for your time reading this and for any replies forthcoming! B)

I'm using magic jack and don't even need to download a separate app. Just might be a app problem
Thanks for the input bud! Good news as of about an hour ago, I found a version of Groove IP that is working beautifully so far! No versions of Talkatone are working, which is weird because it did work a few days ago and I hadn't changed anything. Oh well, as long as Groove works I will be OK B)

Groove is a good app. Again it just might be the app also in talkatone try clearing cache settings - apps- talkatone - clear cache
Yea I actually did clear cache for Talkatone. Tried reinstalling a few times and tried a few older versions. Oh well, honestly I like Groove's layout and integration better and it doesn't seem to use as much memory, which is crucial on this awesome little phone

i use fongo and never had any problems
Please forgive the really late reply to this thread, but since it is my thread I don't see the issue lol. Detdett, what is Fongo? Is it a VoIP app where I can get my own number? Or is it an app that works with GV? I'm looking into an alternate app that doesn't use GV now as by May, Google is changing their protocol where third party apps that allow VoIP calls thru data on GV will no longer work, ie Groove IP, Talkatone, etc. Its sad cuz I did have a good setup. Thanks again!

Build in VOIP App
I've found the best VOIP app to be the built-in SIP client in Android. From the dialer, click settings, Internet call settings / accounts. I found it to use less resources / battery and have better phone quality than sipphone or fring, etc.
I had no idea Android had a built in SIP client! Does it have to route thru a service that I would have to set up, such as pbxes.org, etc??

This is a weird issue, and I can't seem to figure it out. When I'm on my home network, I have really, really terrible lag with Facebook's mobile app *only on my phone*. I mean, it takes about 10 minutes for a pic to load. Any other app (on my phone) that connects to Facebook will lag really bad connecting to FB, as well. I've got Comcast and Speedtest will give me >100Mb/s on my desktop, hardwired to the router, and my phone will usually give me >50Mb/s. I've got an ASUS RT-N56U router, so I don't think that's the issue. I've tried both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, and they both have the same issue.
If I use the FB app on any other wifi network, or 4G, it works just fine. Any other tabs, iPhones, laptops, etc. work fine on my home network.
The thing is, it wasn't always like this... When I first got Comcast set up, everything worked fine. The problem seems to just have happened one day, and the only thing I changed on my phone was installing Transparent Weather Clock. Of course, I tried uninstalling it and seeing if anything changed, but no luck.
I am on 4.3 NB4, rooted.
Any help is appreciated! TIA!
Have you tried wiping the Facebook app data or uninstalling and reinstalling it? I've had funky problems with the Facebook app in the past and wiping the data or a fresh download from the Play Store always fixed it.
Thanks for the tip... I tried that, but ended up with the same results. Did a data wipe, then tried erasing FB completely and then re-installing.
I mean, the baffling part is that the app and all things connected to it work fine everywhere else... Even on much, much slower internet connections. I can't figure out why it works so poorly on my home wifi, when all the other devices work just fine.

You have a external sd? If so go in there and go to Android/data/ and see if files left over for Facebook in there. If so delete them. Then in app manager go to Facebook and clear everything you can. then uninstall. Clear cache. Reboot. Reinstall. See if it works

I do have an external SD... However, I checked and there is nothing about Facebook in there.

An update... I don't believe the problem is isolated to Facebook. Facebook just happens to be the most bandwidth intensive app on my phone. Other Internet services run more slowly on my home network than elsewhere. Maybe this will solve some mystery. I am starting to think it's a router setting.

is gently suggesting you to "get off the grid"?
Ive been having an issue for a couple weeks now where the google search app, launched from the drawer or by holding down the home button, closes a second or so after startup with the defulault "We're sorry google search has stopped" message. No amount of clearing the cache/data, rebooting or reinstalling the app makes it work, the only fix was clearing the data and it would work from first launch, once I close it it goes back to crashing. I noticed after a while that it would start working at what at firsr seemed like random times of day, but just recently i noticed it consistently starts working normally again after about 12 pm (cst), i havent been able to tell when it stops working again however. I'm on NG3, rooted, using Dynamic Kat 4.0 using the GPE theme, and I have xposed framework installed. I am open to any suggestions.
EDIT: Currently 2320 here and its still working fine till it started its "scheduled" starting working, so i believe it begins again durning the night or sometime during the morning. Also thinking it over i realized it may have something to do with the wifi im on till around when the issue stops. I will look further in to the circumstances and report back.
EDIT 2: Yep, it crashes consistently if im on the wifi at my school, which doesnt make too much sense considering it will work fine(for the first launch) if i clear data, and google.com loads finein firerox.
Edit 3: If i turn off wifi, open the app, and turn wifi back on then it also works fine, once again until i close the app, past that it doesnt work when on certain wifi networks(so far only seems like the one at my school), i'd also like to note it used to work fine, and the problem appears to have started after upgrading from DK 3.0 to DK 4.0, I may ask in the rom thread as well.
Edit 4: If im on the wifi with a vpn the app opens fine. I think a better title for this issue would be "Google app crashes when on certain wifi networks". I cant think of any way they would correlate, google isnt blocked and the app used to work, but somehow its making it crash.
I also thought I should note that the app im referring to is actually called "google now", its the one that opens with the homekey longpress (by default) and is named "google" in the app drawer.
