This is a weird issue, and I can't seem to figure it out. When I'm on my home network, I have really, really terrible lag with Facebook's mobile app *only on my phone*. I mean, it takes about 10 minutes for a pic to load. Any other app (on my phone) that connects to Facebook will lag really bad connecting to FB, as well. I've got Comcast and Speedtest will give me >100Mb/s on my desktop, hardwired to the router, and my phone will usually give me >50Mb/s. I've got an ASUS RT-N56U router, so I don't think that's the issue. I've tried both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, and they both have the same issue.
If I use the FB app on any other wifi network, or 4G, it works just fine. Any other tabs, iPhones, laptops, etc. work fine on my home network.
The thing is, it wasn't always like this... When I first got Comcast set up, everything worked fine. The problem seems to just have happened one day, and the only thing I changed on my phone was installing Transparent Weather Clock. Of course, I tried uninstalling it and seeing if anything changed, but no luck.
I am on 4.3 NB4, rooted.
Any help is appreciated! TIA!
Have you tried wiping the Facebook app data or uninstalling and reinstalling it? I've had funky problems with the Facebook app in the past and wiping the data or a fresh download from the Play Store always fixed it.
Thanks for the tip... I tried that, but ended up with the same results. Did a data wipe, then tried erasing FB completely and then re-installing.
I mean, the baffling part is that the app and all things connected to it work fine everywhere else... Even on much, much slower internet connections. I can't figure out why it works so poorly on my home wifi, when all the other devices work just fine.

You have a external sd? If so go in there and go to Android/data/ and see if files left over for Facebook in there. If so delete them. Then in app manager go to Facebook and clear everything you can. then uninstall. Clear cache. Reboot. Reinstall. See if it works

I do have an external SD... However, I checked and there is nothing about Facebook in there.

An update... I don't believe the problem is isolated to Facebook. Facebook just happens to be the most bandwidth intensive app on my phone. Other Internet services run more slowly on my home network than elsewhere. Maybe this will solve some mystery. I am starting to think it's a router setting.

Wow kind of glad I wasnt the only one with this issue. How to we tell Cyan?
Well, that.
Mine hasn't worked for quite a while now, and I always have my gapps updated. It just keeps crashing every time I try to send any linkto my phone.

Not having much success with it either... Message says sent to phone, but my phone never responds.
Used to work perfectly, so I don't think it CM in general, but maybe the more recent builds?

Its wierd with this issue, sometimes it works(since loading cm6 rc1 it works...sorta) sometimes it doesnt or just takes a while to receive. Im not a tech genius by any means so i dont know for sure why it happens but the issue is present.
Are you guys in an area with bad reception? Mine works instantly.
doesn't work for me either.
on a separate note, I hate the chrome to phone browser extension because it doesn't remember login credentials
+1 It's really badly implemented. It's often more effective to send the link via email...

Works fine here on CM6.1

Force closes every time i try and send something. But i found if i get it to send the notification, rather than automatically launch, the notification stays and is still usable.
I found a fix/workaround. Try assigning a notification sound (you don't actually have to turn notification sounds on). Once I did that, the crashing stopped. It works even with auto launch enabled.
i just cleared Chrome to Phone data and re-connected with my account, and all is well

I tried this, and it worked for me too. Thanks!
So, I bought a new router a few days ago. Installed dd-wrt on it, got everything hooked up, PC, laptop, PS3, etc. Everything seems to be running smoothly except forum apps on my D4 and Nook Color. I cannot figure out why. Web browsing seems to run quickly and smoothly, but when I try to open up the XDA forums app or DroidForums app it takes FOREVER to load. If it loads at all. Switch to 4G and loads up fast. Speedtest app shows 9.21 Mbps down and .98 Mbps up so speed is not the issue. Netflix streams find on PS3. It really seems to just be the forum apps that have a hard time. Both on the D4 and my Nook Color. Any ideas? Is there a dd-wrt setting that I screwed up that could be causing this?
Just for kicks, did you setup the same subnet (network addresses)? I bet if you clear the app cache for the forum app it will behave after. Unfortunately you will have to start fresh, but it will likely fix your issue. I suspect DNS cache or something similar.
You could titanium backup the settings proir to wiping if you find cleaning the cache doesn't change things.
This is really not the forum to discuss ddwrt, but I don't think you could have a layer3 issue that would cause slowness in just one app on a device.

Thanks! I actually posted about the issue in the forums over at dd-wrt.com but haven't received a response over there. I will try you suggestions. I'll let you know what happens!
So i have now tried clearing cache, clearing data, uninstalling and reinstalling the apps. I even tried factory resetting the phone. Nothing is working. Can't understand it.

Fixed!!! I had to change the encryption settings from tkip to aes. Everything is connecting flawlessly now!

Hey guys. First of all, I do have a working connection, but there's one problem though. Whenever my phone is on mobile data, some apps just work weird.
Gtalk: I am signed in, chatting with someone, then I put the phone away for a few minutes. The next time I check Gtalk, it is offline. It doesn't even want to get online until I turn 3G off and back on or I restart the app, then it works for a while (random) and then happens again.
Facebook: I browse the news feed and at some point (random) when i reach the bottom of the page and it should load the earlier posts, it just rolls the little circle but nothing happens. Closing the app and restarting it solves the problem, but again, temporalily.
Life is Magic (game): It can hang anytime between loading the levels or whenever it needs data connection.
Whenever these things happen, and I fire up the browser, it works... but despite that, Gtalk still wouldn't go online until I restart it. This happened on every every JB (LPY,LPQ,LQB) so far. I am using CoCore kernel, no other mods.
Thanks for help or any ideas!
Same problem here with gtalk . It has been offline on all version and combination of JB and kernels.can someone provide me stock gtalk app.so that I can re install

you can download a google apps package from here: http://goo.im/gapps
i tried that one too though, still the same. the problem is with the way certain apps using mobile networks, i believe. it doesn't happen on wifi.
Guys, really no one else uses Google Talk?
Still, I believe the problem is with 3G.
Yeah, like you guys said, this happens to me on every official firmwares and only when I'm on 3g. (Just noticed now that you guys mention it)
I had to turn off and on the 3g for it to be active again. I don't use gtalk but it happens with gmail, stock email, fb, xda-app and tapatalk too among others.
As mentioned, it's totally random and usually happens when left by itself for a while. Until now, the only workaround I used is like you guys, just to turn it off and on again.
Until now I thought it was a problem with my ISP but guess it wasn't.

probably not. but still, turning it on and off doesn't solve the problem because Gtalk goes offline after a while and I don't receive messages which is the whole pont
also, facebook app stops refreshing the news feed as I scroll down...
up...
does anyone have a solution yet? are there others affected?
UPDATE: i went back to Gingerbread thinking that it will solve my problem. But that just doesn't happen, gtalk goes offline, i am not getting facebook messages etc,etc...
I think I should take this phone to the service.

Should i update the zip using recovery or can I individually install the app i want
I don't have any restrictions on apps using mobile data but for some reason, I have several apps like gmail and hangouts that won't sync unless on WiFi. Any way to figure out what is causing this? The YouTube app won't work on cell data, only on wifi... that's strange.
Thanks!
It's been happening for me too. I though it was just poor signal, but lately it's been worse.
I'll have 3 or 4 bars and can browse the internet just fine which is strange. I just tried clearing cache to see if that does anything.. I'll report back later
Sound Search is doing the same for me. Also, my phone keeps telling me I'm not signed in to Google when I'm on cell data.
Clearing the cache did not work, I tried deleting data from YouTube and other apps and that didn't work either. I really do not want to do a factory reset.
If you have Gasbuddy installed it might be that. Last week after taking an update for Gasbuddy anything that connected to my phone using it as a hotspot could not get internet access. Didn't make the connection at the time and factory reset my phone and hotspot started working correctly. Started reinstalling apps and when I got to Gasbuddy the hotspot quite again so I uninstalled Gasbuddy and everthing started working again.
That's strange. I don't have that app on my phone but I'll look to see what I recently installed and go from there. Good thinking there though.
Ended up doing a factory reset which worked.
I have used 1Weather for a long time without any issues. Lately I have noticed that the radar takes 15 -25 seconds to load, even though the map and present location load immediatley. I have noticed this on my Nexus 6, my Nexus 5x, Samsung 10.1 G5210, and Samsung SGS III --- all running different android versions.
Have contacted 1weather but they say they do not experience this.
So - can some of you install 1weather, and tap the map icon at the bottom to see how fast/slow your radar loads? I am in OKC area if you think that weather data feeds for this area might have something to do with it.
Or any other ideas - wifi speeds are excellent otherwise
SOLVED - Thanks to all who posted and made suggestions. It turned out to be the wifi router (ASUS). I went down to the AT&T store and tried their wifi - 1Weather loaded fast and so did radar. Bought another router (Netgear) and 1Weather worked properly. Some setting on the ASUS router (on or off I don't know) was the culprit - but I think it had something to do with parental control, because I initially had same problem on Netgear. Then I turned on parental control but did set it to block nothing and that did the trick. Have no idea why, but it's working now. May re-hook up the ASUS to see if there's a similar setting to turn on/off

I'm in the Dallas area and mine loads quickly. I also have some locations in New England and they load fast too.
At least you got a reply from them. I emailed them a question a week or two ago and they never answered.
I have the app and my Radar seems to load very fast.
I am in the DC-VA-MD area.
So I hate to say, but the problem might actually be with the area where you live.
Mine loads fine as well on Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat. You may consider clearing cache or at the very worst data and resetting up the app if problems persist.

I have actually done that and also rolled back to a previous version...with no success.
I did change my router to a dual band router, but am pretty clueless as to 95% of the settings.
So since you mention the router, are you saying on mobile data it loads fine?

No I have checked that as well. But interesting is that it loads the "still" radar first on mobile, not the animated one. It loads the animated one on wifi 1st.
Well it sounds like your wifi is working fine regardless if data is coming through and its just this app and the fact that its happening on mobile data too confirms its not the router settings. All I can think of is check permissions under the app settings, make sure its got the location access
(im sure it does) as well as storage permissions. Other than that if I cant replicate it then all someone can really suggest is uninstall/reinstall. The storage permission is to cache map data for radar which should be what makes it load faster.

Thanks for the comments. I'm gonna try it at the local AT&T store on 1 of their phones, if they'll allow it.
I wonder if it has something to do with the data source of the radar in my area? Oh well, will keep searching
If thats the case try setting it manually to a diff location. You could try 33411 for example which is in florida.
Just a suggestion...if nothing else works...you might want to try another app such as
Radar Now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.usnaviguide.radar_now
I use 1weather and it loads radar very fast on wifi and even faster on LTE. Gotta be a conflict with something else on your device.
