Considering a Nexus

So I started my android life with a G1, then eventually got a Mytouch. Now I am considering getting a Nexus one, I have the money saved up but I am not 100% sure... I want some experienced users (mainly the people who's root) and tell me, does the battery last good? And are you truly happy with it? Because I can't make up my mind rather to get the Nexus, or the Droid..Or some other new android phones coming to t-mobile soon..(rumors)
But then again I hate the fact that every time I buy a phone a new one comes out.. lol.
Side note: If anyone is selling a nexus, let me know.

Tough situation. You have to realize that at some point, the trigger has to be pulled and when it is, another device will be coming out. That is just how it works. Look at Apple users...they buy a laptop to find out 6 months later something even better is arriving. Technology never waits, so when you want something, jump on it.
If you are on T-Mobile, you can look at the Desire. If you are interested in Verizon, the Incredible is landing soon which is basically a Desire with a boost.
The Nexus is a very open platform with amazing community support and having owned two, I regret nothing. This phone is amazing.

I have good battery life now with some setting changes in custom rom I run. I have the extended battery so the feeling is comfortable for 1 hand texting. I still have and toy with my G1 but when I leave the house the I have the N1. I wouldn't trade my N1 for any phone out. It took me a few days to get adjusted to not having the physical keyboard but the size of the screen really make it easy. I just didn't get it when I had a mytouch. These are just a few of my options.

Definitely get a Nexus. Like deprecate said, technology will keep moving. You just gotta take the plunge. Battery life has been decent for me but that is most probably cause mine is still a brand new battery. Once it's broken in a little, it should be good.
The processor is ridiculously amazing. Things just work, and work very fast. Trust me, once you use the Nexus for a day and try to go back to G1/Dream, you will wonder how you lived all this time. The HTC Desire Rom for Nexus is actually very good if you like Sense. It also has Flash Player Lite if you're into that. Cyan's Rom, of course, gets better all the time. Honestly there aren't a lot of Rom options yet but that's because there isn't very much that could be improved at this point. Everything just works.
All in all, I say go for it.

Well you gotta be reasonable. It has a 1ghz processor. The thing is gonna be a bit of a juice monkey no matter what. There are undervolted kernels available that help with battery life though.

After a month playing with my rooted N1 (previously had a iphone 3g) i can only say: Wow, this beast is fast. You can multi-task, load custom ROMs, browse fast and soon we will have flash support. Battery life is accetable, so great performance with a so thin design is acceptable. And android is a powerfull and flexible OS. Im very happy with my nexus1.

I went through the same thought process as well before buying my Nexus One. The thing that really sold me was the fact that I have a few friends with Android phones and they all seem pretty frustrated that they see all these new Android releases coming out and their phones remain stuck at 1.5. Since the N1 is Google's showcase phone it's pretty much a given that it will always get timely updates to the latest version of Android. I don't think you can say the same for ANY other Android phone (a lot even have boot loaders that can't be unlocked like the Milestone and Rogers HTC Magic) and I doubt any that might come out in the next few months will be that lucky either. Plus this thing is just mind blowing fast.
I came from an iPhone 3G so initially I was slightly disappointed with the touchscreen (it doesn't reject spurious input from fingers and palms that might wrap around the phone) and the less than stellar reception. Every time I put my hand on lower part of the phone and see 2-3 bars of reception disappear I feel shame.
Coming from a Magic I doubt I would ever notice this because these problems exist in those phones too as I believe it uses the same touchscreen and the radio placement is identical.
As for battery life, I actually get pretty good life now that my usage has settled down.

For the Battery if you run one of the UV kernels as well as setcpu with profiles. Also do some of the main things you do with your Mytouch like turn off wifi, GPS, screen brightness to low, only use 3G when you need it other wise leave it on Edge, as well as the many other battery saving ideas. You should should get great battery life. I can go about 16 hours of ok usage and have about 50 to 60% battery life left. Check my Sig for what i am running. Over all i paid full price for my N1 and i am love with phone in every way.

I miss my N1

So with all these new phones come out, I felt the need the update my phone. I considered the Galaxy variants, but settled on the Dell Streak. Two of my friends, choose the Samsung Captivate. So I had a chance to experience all three. Anyways I choose Dell for its 5" screen. I surf on my phone way more than I talk or game. I'm more of a productivity type than the gamer/entertainment type.
Anyways, for all of you thinking on 'upgrading' and you're on the fence about it, my advice is to wait. Its no upgrade in going to a Galaxy S, Streak, or any other device at the moment IMO.
Galaxy is nice, but its the same/same as a nexus. You get a tiny bit bigger screen, with in my opinion wrong colours; too vibrant and too pop. Nexus has way better support, lastest firmware/roms, trackball colours/wake, etc.
Dell, nice screen, I love it. Basically no kernel, no support. Its all about waiting, waiting, waiting... for Dell. Android 1.6 is good, but once you've had CM6 its hard to settle. I know theres a 2.1 leak out, but I find it too buggy.
Overall, I feel that the N1 is a far superior phone compared to others available at the moment.
So currently I'm giving the dell a go, while the nexus is a drawer. I imagine I would be switching between the two often.

I bought the dell streak thinking it would be awesome..
It blows. So i posted something in the marketplace for a trade. and whadaya know? i have a nexus one again.
I missed it immensely. but u have it back. i suggest you do the same. if you arent happy, theres no reason not to be.

I felt the exact same way, so I bought a Galaxy S (Vibrant), thought the screen was amazing, but everything else disappointed. I returned it 1 1/2 days later and rooted my N1. So much happier now, with the same N1 I had before... Sometimes you forget what you have till its gone...

literally... i am so utterly happy i have my n1 back. its the best phone still. and you cant even buy it anymore. so, with that said... OP! get your n1 back!

Just because there are so many new phone coming out, it does not mean there is a "need" to upgrade. The N1 was and is still top of the line. Other phones are still catching up to it

no kidding... When I was looking at phones, I had a feeling I wasn't gonna be keeping anything I got cuz I was benchmarking my N1 next to all the new "great" smart phones, and they all fell WAY short of my N1 (i know not a fair comparison, but thats kinda the point), as well as not having the capabilities to do what the N1 can, really was a no brainer. it was nice though to see that all the hype still can't beat this underdog N1!

Switching phones now is pretty silly.
Unless you want a keyboard (obviously), there's no reason to switch phones until the next era of mobile processors comes out. Otherwise, it's just a sidegrade, not an upgrade.
I'm waiting for a 1.3-1.5 GHz phone before I even think about switching. Preferably a 4" Super AMOLED, and only Samsung can produce SAMOLED, so it'll be a long time since they just launched 4 phones.

Sidegrade was exactly the words I used when I returned it. Really, the main reason I started looking now was since there is one area my 3G drops, and I drive it all the time streaming (or trying to stream) music. The Vibrant didn't have any better reception, actually a bit worse, and there was no way I was going to pay $300 if that problem wasn't fixed, and to have to wait for a crippled froyo. The ONLY thing that was better about the Vibrant was the screen, and not by much, only in direct sunlight was it that much better. It even felt cheap.

Super amoled makes my n1s amoled look like crap, the blacks are greyish on the n1 compared to the vibrant.
Real MT screen, I love the n1 for browsing, but when the fuking thing cant even pinch to peak in the gallery properly without fanning out the wrong way then back the other and back again, and in simple games it cant register the right finger when the iphone 2g could, thats just plain junk. The vibrants hands down can detect multiple fingers I believe unlimited.
just over all better touch screen. Besides the MT the vibrants is just smoother, responds faster and just feels better.
Yes the N1 has it beat in a few areas as well. Build quality (although the vibrants isnt bad), but I never drop my phone anyways, and honestly the heavier n1 would probably suffer a bigger ding in the metal edges vs the lighter vibrants would.. Just my opinion
The n1 has notifications and I miss my trackball baaaaad
Also the n1s has a flash and the damn vibrant dont. boo. But it does have night view and the n1 even with flash cant replicate some of these types of photos.
The n1 will be updated to Gingerbread first yes, but honestly do you think it will still be in the light mid 2011? No way, not with way better hardware coming. Also the SGS will be on all carriers and have way more people with them. There will be tons of Development its just begun. I believe in the next few months it may surpase the N1s....
My opinion is they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but a better touch screen, better video recording, way more memory, and a better gpu outweights a light on the phone, trackball and updates which at that point the vibrant will get anyways by custom roms etc.
Just my opinion. I got both, the Vibrant is the better phone in my opinion. By a lot? Maybe not, but dont sell the SGS out like its not as good as the n1. Cause thats just retarded.

I could care less about the video camera, my multitouch works fine on my N1, is WAY faster to respond and react than the Vibrant (don't even understand how you could have felt the opposite), I don't game or watch movies on my phone, and have no issues with the internal memory. And so you say the N1 will be essentially obsolete mid 2011, I might be able to agree with that considering whats around the corner; however, the Galaxy S is not that far advanced over the N1 where it will be around longer than it, in my opinion. So, for me, the galaxy s ONLY had the nicer screen in direct sunlight going for it.

Just as I suspected. I was slightly tempted to get a Galaxy S, but I was very leery because of this. Yeah it's got a bigger screen and nicer GPU, but it's not quite the radical upgrade you'd get if you went from a humdrum office PC to an i7 gaming rig with the latest-and-greatest card from ATI--and at this point, to get me to upgrade from N1, the difference will have to be pretty radical. Bring on the dual-core phones!

THE n1 is cool and im not tying to convince anyone, I just want you to know that there are other phones equal to the n1 (evo, incredible etc) and a few that surpass it. I couldnt stand the
-Crappy MT screen/sgs is better
-Buggy MT screen/ sgs dont bug out (why have a buggy screen when thats what you use most on the phone same with MT?) You got a touch screen phone that cant distinguish 2 fingers. lol
-Crappy video recording/sgs is way better
-Crappy gaming quality (asphalt 5 looks like crap vs the sgs)/ sgs is better
-Cant play even simple MT like PONG
-regular amoled when theres super/super amoled makes the regular look like poop.
-LOW ROM, even with apps2sd the data in your app spaced filled up(sgs has so much I dont ever have to worry). SGS Wins there also
-Crappy WIFI issue
-METAL ON THE BACK WOULD get way hott. Plastic doesnt conduct as much heat.
-JUST a tad small, 4.3 is too big, 4.0 hit the spot.
-Shatty 3g issue. 1.covering the back loses signal (happens in a lot of phones so its not a biggie) 2. Just wont stay on 3g when not in a strong signal area. My SGS will stay on 3g by itself instead of having to force hack 3g. lol
-only sold online.. pfffft.
I just dont see how you couldnt thing the SGS is a upgrade. Its got the better, CPU, GPU, MEMORY, VIDEO CAMERA, CAMERA, SCREEN, MT SENSORS, 6 axis accelerometer and JUST all around a MORE comfortable experience. N1 wins in what? Development? and Notifications? Wow. yea the n1 is better.... lol Stop lying to yourselves.
Now you may prefere the n1, thats fine, but as it being better? no, better for you? maybe, but the SGS definetely has the 1 up on just about every spec...
N1 rocks man dont get me wrong, but its just not the phone that the SGS is and is capable of. We have only scratched the surface of what this phone can do especially with a OC kernal that will handle 1.6 overclocked.

Also notice the ****ty pinch and zoom on the n1 vs sgs and look at the choppier scrolling vs the smoother sgs. Remember this is without froyo/jit a serious performance upgrade....

Fits said he will still compile Gigglebread builds for the N1 even though he sold his because N1 receives the most traffic within the euroskank repository.

Seems like all rom bases are covered that can be achieved. Like you said we have AOSP, MiUi and old sense roms to choose from. I don't see anything else needed. At least we don't have a bunch of winzip devs cluttering up the place.

I still have nandroids of new and old sense roms and would be content to run with the nightlies till the next N1 comes out.
Haven't researched much and not AOSP savvy--so, not sure if ICS could even run on the current N1.

There are no proper Sense ROMs to choose from, only eViL's ages-old Desire port that is completely functional, all other ROMs suffer from various parts that aren't working properly or at all.
There is still AOSP, CM and MIUI.
Well, it's pity that Sense ROM developers are gone, otherwise I might still be using N1. But I guess such is life. At least MIUI has some good Sense elements to it.

I've always liked MIUI from last fall when I started flashing it. Weekly updates and always moving forward. Kinda like Cyanogen. Has gotten a little unstable for me lately. Not sure why.
Interested to see their new phone, maybe 1.5ghz

I am waiting for the big boys--4.3/5 screens and big/fast processors. Problem is only 6 months into TMO contract.
My biggest issue with N1 is typing. Screen sucks and is very unstable or my fingers are just too fat.
I do remember someone (maybe you) mentioning getting a bigger screened phone and really liking the typing on it.

Well the Nexus One came right at the time when touch screens weren't fully developed by HTC. even on my HD2 screen kinda sucked compare to others. Unfortunately I think we still need the qwerty keyword for heavy text usage i just wish they were android options of the dell venue pro.

I am also excited for these new phones, although I think a 5" might be pushing it for me. I am kinda curious if the 720p+ capable screen is going to make it into a phone. Either way, I want to get a qHD screen minimum. Luckily, I only have about 6 months left on my TMO contract (then I get to decide if I want to ride it out with a possible switch to AT&T or jump ship while I still can). Here's hoping that the Nexus 3/Prime/Whatever is as good as I am hoping it will be.
As for typing, have you tried swype? Due to the way it works, fat fingers really don't affect it. It did take me a day or two to get used to it, and probably about a week until I considered myself extremely proficient. But now it drives me nuts using a regular on-screen keyboard.

I still have the N1, but now it's my wife's, for several months already. I convinced her to move from her old HTC Touch, and she agreed to take the Nexus. I bought myself the most cost-effective phone on the market back at the time - which was MyTouch 4G. I don't like the bulky 4"+ phones, Nexus was fine for me in size, so MT4G fits very nicely. It's a head and shoulders above Nexus in everything, but mostly - in existence of proper Sense ROMs.
Actually, since my wife complained about the crazy screen and the not-so-nice for her MIUI, I got her Desire S. She really likes Sense UI, and doesn't like MIUI. But I got unlucky - the phone is bad and needs to be replaced, so it'll be another week or two until she gets a functional one. And then I'll sell the N1.

I got a free MT4g in Feb when I changed carriers from Cincinnati Bell to TMO. Son uses it and likes it alot. I do like Sense, but as you said they are not real stable yet, but close. Evil's is good and Micro's was pretty stable for me. I did pretty well on abhi's RCADS one and loved the Weather Lockscreen. Made me just want to keep unlocking phone.

That's interesting. I got my wide the MT4G earlier this year. I really liked the phone, but for the fact that it always seemed sluggish next to my N1. I rooted it, and removed some of the bloat, but it still never felt quite as smooth as my phone - she even noticed the same, from the odd occasion that I let her use my phone...
The MT4G also had a big weakness - the inability to swim, so my wife now has a G2, which neither of us like...

That's funny DR, my son swims with it all the time--no issues--
He is happy with it--to him it is a phone and mp3 player--weather and some internet
Might add he is 30--not a kid
The N1's screen looks nicer though, when we hold them side by side and brightness is all the way up. I don't like the 4 hard keys feel as much though

im debating switching to the D3 from my Inc2. i love the devlopment of the Inc2, but i miss a Physical keyboard...allot...
do you still love/hate yours? looking for opinions on D3 owners...

I still love my D3 despite the "sticking" keys, finicky battery life, and failed Alt key presses that cause me to type things like "dualvcore processor." From what I've read, a leaked update fixed all of these issue and that leak may be released shortly.

Yes, enjoying my D3 tremendously. I still have my old Droid and that phone now frustrates me with how slow (even overclocked) it is in overall use.
As for the screen, love the screen. I can actually use my phone outside in full sunlight/daylight conditions.

I came from my old Droid as well. I agree even overclocked, it just didn't have the hardware to run 2.3 very well. I love my new Droid 3, its got everything I liked about the original only better. The few quirks in the phone now I don't worry about, they'll all hopefully be fixed via updates. The only thing that has me concerned at this point is the whether we'll be able to get what we need to unlock this thing to get custom rom's going. After running Cyanogen and cyanogen based roms for years, going to any stock phone just seems bland. I've made my decision to stick with the D3 and see were it goes (if they unlock it like they alluded that they would), but for me it'll be a deciding factor as to whether I buy a Moto phone in the future or not.

Lemme break it down, moto cliq robbed me of the android Xperience, ran like crap, was promised and update that never appeared, and overheated like a mother! So I upgrade to Mytouch slide for a couple days, felt cheap, screen sucked, and wasn't much of an upgrade to my cliq as the cliq felt more solid and ran just as good when deblurred and Overclocked. So finally I upgraded to SGS Vibrant. I loved it! It was practically unbrickable! Unfortunately Samsung was slow to give updates or support. To have upgrades or updates of merit came with a heavy cost of potentially killing the phone. RFS filesystem sucked and made it run way slow compared to EXT3/4 filesystem phones and required a filesystem conversion (dangerous) ! And of course swype is nice, but in my hands a hardware keyboard is better.
Now for the D3, THE ONLY DUAL-CORE TI-ARM proc, with KEYBOARD, Front Facing Camera, 8MP 1080p Rear Camera with LED flash, mini-HDMI port, SGX540 video card (same as SGS Vibrant, but evidently better scores), great battery life (after update), with guarantees of updates and upgrades on the best service provider in the US! And Moto has given promise to unlock bootloaders.
Needless to say, I love my D3. Its the best phone I have EVAR had and it has crazy potential. Can't wait to OC this thing, deblur it and turn it into the android power hungry demon that it was meant to be!

I cannot wait for the day that we can run vanilla android! I'm already tired of moto blurs Grey-blue, blueish-grey, grey, cyan colored theme.

The Droid 3 exceeds on almost every one of my criteria. I love everything about it except for two things. The awful screen and the Motorola crud. Thankfully there's something that can be done about the later. The former is just a sad decision on Motorola's part. It would have been absolutely wonderful if they just increased the size because even though it has a higher resolution, the droid 2 and 1 still beat it out in terms of clarity. Pathetic. Everything else is upgraded but the screen is downgraded. That's all I have to say.

I love my D3, and I work hard every day to make it even better.

I came from the OG Droid, which I loved dearly until it started to physically fall apart (battery door started getting loose, USB jack was almost unusable, headphone jack started shorting out), at which point I then reimaged my wife's OG Droid (that she retired for an iPhone 4) with my nand backup, thus successfully performing the proverbial "brain transplant". I used that phone for a few months, just long enough to get me to the D3 release.
I was originally waiting on the Bionic, but (a) I got tired of waiting, (b) I didn't want to put up with the notorious LTE battery life issues that were seen on other devices and (c) I wasn't too keen on the $100 premium I was sure would be included in the Bionic price tag (as will all the other newly-launched VZW LTE devices). So, I came to love the D3 and picked one up at lauch via web order.
I LOVE this phone. The keyboard is clearly in a class of its own (better than my old Blackberries, which are generally considered the "gold standard" of mobile keyboards). I'm OK with the Moto BLUR (or whatever they call it now) stuff on there, but I really don't use it. I gave the homescreen a try for a while, but missed the scrolling dock from Laucher Pro+, so I went back to LP+ recently.
The phone has always been fast enough for me (no more disappointment from my overclocked, overly-warm, OG Droid that still can't run heavy stuff smoothly). I was never really concerned about the RAM size, and it hasn't been a problem for me. Now that my D3 is rooted and I've frozen on the bloatware, even more RAM stays available, the phone runs even faster and the battery life improved, marginally.
Ultimately, battery life was the only thing I was a bit disappointed about on this phone. I instaleld the leaked update and now that has been fixed to my satisfaction. So, overall, I am quite happy with this phone. As long as the hardware holds up, I'll likely be keeping this one full-term.

PS: I even like the floppy plastic battery cover that some people complain about. I just enjoy messing with it, for some reason. I think I like how it fits so well when I snap it back on, and the texture is good in the hand. Call me crazy (you wouldn't be the first).

My DROID3 seems more awesome everytime I use it. GO PENS!

Yes, I very much love my Droid 3. The keyboard is out standing and I have not had any problems with sticking keys or missed alt presses whatsoever. The screen can look **** some times but as stated before it does view well in sunlight so I guess it's a trade off. The phone is very fast and responsive. Stock launcher looks awesome and has great widgets, but it's laggy. It flies with ADW. All in all, I just want AOSP Gingerbread/Ice Cream Sandwich and I'm good to go.

I'm getting bionic envy with the larger screen and LTE but in the end, I like the keyboard so I know the D3 is the right phone for me.

Before root and OTA? No
After root and OTA? Yes
Why? Purely because of the obvious bugs that went out that weren't properly QC'ed (serious, serious problem with almost all carriers and mfg's these days), poor battery life, and too much of Verizon's forced bloat that should be uninstallable.
Post OTA,battery life is great, performance is snappier and even better when rooted and freezing the bulk of bloat ware.

I started on the OG Droid the day it was released. Then when the Droid 2 came out, I upgraded to that. I now own the Droid 3, and I can honestly say that they pretty much got it right this time. If it was Blur-less, it would be the perfect phone.
I've since rooted to remove all the crap, and put Go Launcher on it. Now it really performs the way it should, and the battery performance has been night and day since I made those changes.
I'm pretty happy with it right now.

Tiny ram is a pain only because the bloatware fills it up. If the phone were running AOSP, it would fly.

[Q] Moving on...(GNexus vs One S)

So I'm finally getting around to moving on. As much as I love my Nexus One, I'm in need of a new phone and with the deals coming up I don't know what to get. Being a "even more plus customer" (or whatever they call it now) I don't get those nice phone discounts so everything is relatively expensive. I have to buy it at full price
Today I saw the Galaxy Nexus was on sale for $400 which is really tempting. I know how great a phone it is, but its a little on the big side for me (ha). Then I saw Tmo's $100 trade in value and thought about using that to get a One S for $500.
The things that keep me away from the One S are that there is no removable battery, the possibility of bugs on the first release, and a locked boot loader. But it's such a beautiful device with an amazing camera that it's hard to resist. Money isn't really a big deal, but its a factor I'm considering. I could do a bit more with that $100.
Anyone else that has moved on, what made you switch?
Any recommendations about which phone to get or input in general would be great!

I used a dummy, I liked how it felt, but you brought up a good point. I should probably try the real thing.
I was considering the S3 but I'm concerned it's gonna take longer than I'd like to get to the U.S. and be too expensive. The deals to me were the reason I wanted to buy a new phone. Are you considering the S3?

I just came from a nexus one and went with the gnex. I absolutely love it. Removable battery and it being a nexus are the winning factors to me. Being a nexus and able to type 6 or so lines of text to flash the stock image and root with files straight from google are big factors for me. The phone is smooth as hell. The other ones will be tainted with sense and Samsung garbage.it is quite wide but I'm getting used to it quickly, after two days I can just about use the phone fully with one hand.

i am looking at the ssg3 or galaxy note, but fed up with tmo slow speeds in my area, Dayton Oh, and still stuck on a 2 year contract. I get .5 to 2mb most of the time. My wishes are dl speed at +5mb minimum, good signal strength at my house and work, 4.5 inch screen or bigger. I will root for apps and nandroid but may not continue flashing as these new phones have it all now--for me at least--
I posted on another thread getting 10-13mb dl with gnex on verizon at store, i know in two years most carriers will be lte capable, so the speeds are coming

yeah, i noticed a little bit of a service bump with the hspda+ on att in some spots in my area getting about 6mb down 2mb up where it used to be 3mb max on the n1. im perfectly fine with that amount of bandwidth, i dont need my phone to have the same service level of throughput as my home internet and chew through my battery. i wish the carriers could improve on the response time / ping now, who cares about bandwidth, its all marketing hype. give me a 22ms ping with 3mb down, not 300ms ping with 15mb...

those speeds would be acceptable to me for now, as in two more years we may see perfection on smartphones for most of us. as i have time maybe someone in the dayton area will get the unlocked version and post tmobile speeds here--

If you're one of those who flash Sense/MIUI on your N1 for functionality, and prefer it over plain Android - get One S.
There was already such a thread that I participated in, you can find my opinion there. Personally I can't stand plain Android for the reasons I laid out many times, and dislike ICS design.

Yeah, I found your thread. You bring up a good point about the development, but I feel either way I'll be okay. I do like my stock ICS, but I'm curious to see how the new sense is, maybe give it a chance. Although, I saw a development of Sense, Blur, and Touchwiz ports over in the Galaxy Nexus form. Made me think twice...
I tried to go to the t-mobile store and use a One S today, but they were closed by the time I got there D: Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one soon.

One S is better then GNex in most ways but development. Built quality is amazing, screen is very nice, camera and camera app are also super. but right now you just cant do much with the phone besides running Sense....there are no 100% functioning ROMs or any mods YET.
I say screen quality is better on One S in terms of colors, but Gnex is very sharp and resolution is 720p
I have One S and thinking about trading for Gnex because I just hate sitting on stock ROM and waiting....but I am not 100% sure yet
The is just one flaw in One S design, the cool notification light is very cool, but its not visible from the sides.

Just handed back the OneS. Until there's some decent Roms, the existing Sense stuff is very annoying. The camera on it is VERY impressive, build quality great too. Screen, same brightness as Nexus One (ie, very clear), but not /that/ bump up in rez. When there's some decent roms for it, I'd jump in and enjoy it, but for now, there's a lot that'll annoy you.
