[ROOTED] GoAPK 1.38 CHS 11-Mar-30

ONLY FOR S-OFF PHONE
Guy, good news, IS is now rooted by YuHong of GoAPK.
i just installed it, and confirmed it have a working SU.
you will need to install the custom modded recovery, and then you can install his rom.
it is based on the official 1.38. and it have a english locale available.

I am still testing the rom, so far it seems everything fine.
Sorry i cannot mirror the rom to here since i am having very slow internet connection here. (i am now in China for businese trip)

yes, remember you must S-OFF, only S-OFF then you can install the recovery.

actually I just bought my IS today, was told by the shop that root is not possible yet, but the phone is S-OFF so i decided to buy it and wait.
luckyly root is ready and available for download.

btw. how u get an s-off set? its from telco or ap set?

Disable fastboot in ur settings and shut down ... Or pull out the battery ... Then hold volume down for a whioe and press the power buttoj for a ssecond or two ... It will say s-on or of in the first or second line

press power button while ur phone is on... tab restart while restart hold volume button....
or go to adb and type "adb reboot bootloader"
no need to remove the cover... and u shudnt either cuz its not made for removal every day

i bough it from China, AP set.
no telco will give you S-OFF.

So S-off, and how to download at GoApk?
Don't understand chines.
I'm getting kicked all over the place, except there were I can download the stuff.

sorry, as mentioned early, i am now on business trip in china and i dont have a stable and fast internet access to most file upload site.
but after all, i will not mirror it here as i dont know what the developer will think about it when all his hardwork is mirrored without his ackowlegment.

what radio has your phone?

You can try using google translate addon in the Chinese link.. it works like charm..

i dont know what's radio version is sorry as i sell the device already
but it was 1.36 original rom
i'll have some of it next sunday
if you have any idea of way to s-off let me know as i'll try it again

note : after i try to s-off and try again to flash new rom with gold card it's gave me error 132
before its working with no problem with same procedure

You could also just use SuperOneClick to get root.
Just used it, worked great (once you are S-OFF)

[RADIO] NS4G Radio image

For those of you that flashed a bad radio to your NS4G, there is a fix!
Many thanks go out to Netarchy for relentlessly trying to fix my radio, and Shabbypenguin for supply Netarchy with his phone images both of them did a lot of work just to get my phone operational again Thank you very much!
Attached is the signed zip for you to flash in recovery. now listen very carefully before you complain that this didn't work for you. It did not work for me either, but it just may work for some people to flash in recovery, that is why i'm supplying a signed zip for you. What I had to do to get this to work is to unzip the file. inside there is a file called "radio.pr.img" boot into your bootloader and use the following fastboot command

that worked for me and hopefully it will work for anyone else that flashes a bad image.
Once again thank you to Shabbypenguin and Netarchy, and anyone else that may have helped out.

Nah, the image that fixed you was the radio image extracted from the OTA ;D

Does anyone know if fastboot oem listpartitions work with this phone? Not at my pc right now. I was wondering which partitions were which. I dumped every image, 7, and i have one that is 13.5mb which i think is the radio that this phone came with. Also i wanna find out which is wimax

So I installed SuperASOP 8.0 and then tried flashing the zip in recovery and pushing the img file via ADB and still have no radio. So it looks like no we can't use SuperASOP yet.

no superaosp doesnt have the cdma/wimax stuff, it was added to teh aosp source yesterday

phone will boot fine its unlocked and has cmw 3.0.2.4. long story short i unlocked the phone using greggs method late last night every thing was fine 3g worked ran ti back to recover my apps from my evo and went to bed. this morning gf said she tried to txt me but none came though so i did a prl and profile update they both failed no i noticed no 3g no cell service in a panic i flashed the NsS 4g decodx rom (without a back up stupidly) no luck fashed this in fastboot. it took but still no luck
im going to staet a help post

just fair warning you shouldnt post in anothers thread and then go make a thread about it, anyways there is the stock files on the dev forum for the ns4g download that and install it. then run the program it installed, it will get you back to 100% stock

i just tryed that comp i got to the part where the you plug the phone to my comp and i would not reconize the phone. the computer will programe will not.

Is it safe/possible to flash a RUU using this guide? My phone doesn't let me install the Optus RUU saying: "Model ID Incorrect".

Pretty sure, you can try but I highly doubt it works.
I have never flashed a radio from recovery without it being modified. As for it having an update script idk but I would have to assume so

Is there a chance it'll brick my phone though? :-S I dont want to kill it... and I've flashed the radio from this ruu using "fastboot flash radio radio.img", so why wouldn't it work? if I only flash the system and data partitions, I should be safe from bricks, right?

Idk I don't use fastboot unless I have to. I haven't ever flashed anything besides a recovery from there. There is always a chance of bricking your phone when flashing something.
Chances are if you flash anything in an ruu your just gonna loose root. Wait til a dev gets his hands on it or look up how to use the android kitchen.

Root is SUPER easy to regain (just flash the root.zip in recovery)... and everything is flashed through fastboot on the Incredible S... except custom roms ofcourse.

If its an unofficial ruu that zip might not give your root back. Also if you have to flash custom roms from recovery, what makes you think this would be any different.?

easiest way is to get ROM Manger from market and flash CWM that way.
I would stay away from CWM 3.0 since it's known to cause problems.

Oh, all this time I though you were already rooted.
Yeah you can't install custom recovery till you root first.
Read the WIKI on rooting

If you have unlocked your bootloader (I think that is what you said earlier?), then just flash recovery via fastboot like the wiki says...
What part are you struggling with? Are you getting any error messages?

I think you are just copying the command verbatim.
When it says /path/to/recovery.img it literally means wherever you have saved that file on your computer. In windows, it could very much look like

fastboot flash recovery "c:\user\john doe\Downloads\clockworkmod\recovery.img"
Keep in mind, if you are using windows, if the location has any spaces in it, it requires quotes around the whole thing.

I need help really bad.....
Apparently I didnt brick my phone because I can get into hboot, but when I go to boot my phone the htc screen will go in and out ..in and out...etc...continuously....I tried flashing a radio..and when I booted it kept doing this...I cant even get into recovery AT ALL....it will just boot into htc over and over again...HELP ME PLEASE....I think I have to use adb but I need instructions....

I have the incredible S ... I was on the virtuous affinity rom and I restored back to my origional backup that I made when I purchased the phone...I needed a froyo radio because I had a gingerbread radio on there .... and I went to make a call and knew right away that I needed a radio....please help...OMGGGGGGGGG

Maybe because when your phone is rooted you cant install the system update from HTC. Apparently that CAN brick your phone. But thanks for the input.

Hi,
if U can get to hboot then try to load a different Froyo radio to your sd card using your PC. And later install it via hboot and see what happens. Maybe the radio file you´ve used was corrupted. See which radios were recommended for the ROM you´ve restored. Use radio in PG32IMG.zip form.
