Hi guys
I use my phone a lot for business and got many countries to follow up ... therefore I use special numbers (prefixes) to dial.
Is there any sftware equivalent to O2 one for dialling which can be installed on the machine?
As long as I'm concerned the best I have founded is Sunnysoft Calling Card dialer but is stupid spend money when it should be the OEM providing this very basic function: any idea?
Thanks for your cooperation on the matter
I implemented a software that should qualify your request, it is free.
Hi,
I see in the descr of the TyTn II that it comes with a business card scanner aplication.
Can someone tell me what this app is? Is the cab available somewhere?
Thanks
Business Card Software
The software that comes on the TyTN II is called WorldCard Mobile. I did not see it on the AT&T Tilt rom, but when I flashed to the HTC rom, it showed up.
It is OCR software that allows a picture to be taken of a business card then will take the information and import into your contacts. I have been looking for it as well and have not found it extracted as a cab within the forums.
thanks
I actually have found a copy of that program but it is a year old.
So it would be great if someone can extract it from the rom and put a cab here...
please do a search on business card scanner for the answer to this
The software is called WorldCard Mobile and it is only $25. You can buy it here : http://store.penpowerinc.com/mobile.html . I have tried it and it works as long as you have good lighting.
If this is something you would like then buy it and support the development of this product so they can keep making updates.
I added that app to my 8525 and it works great. I have installed it but not yet used it on the Tilt.
do you have any trouble with the vodafone Calendar plugin?
Just asking as every so often, I get a notificationerror stating;
'cannot execut vcalpulg.exe'
I'm not over excited about it as I could turn it off and use the WM version. Anyone else have this problem or know if there is an update from Vodafone? Have looked on their site but cannot find anything on it.
Thanks in advance.
I've not seen any Updates for the phone's software on the Vodafone site. A bit poor if you ask me
Have you got Vodafone Live to work yet?
I don't have a link for live on mine but have the STK service in the programmes folder and that's it.
Vodafone Home - do you mean HTC Home???

Neither, the vodafone calendar plugin which is in start> Settings> today> Items
Uncheck the Vodafone Calendar option and check the normal Calendar option.
This gives you the same information and is the same calendar
I have but that's not the point, lol.
As far as I can tell, the only point of that plugin is to put the Vodafone stylised calendar icon (as seen on all their other branded phones) on the today screen instead of the standard WM one. Bizzarre.
Personally, I think the best solution to such wanton waste of resources is just to flash it to the HTC ROM, and ditch all the vodacrap..
Hey everyone, I have an ATT Tilt with windows 6.1. I have unlimited txt. I would like to use aim on my tilt, the only thing is that it dosent show all my buddys. Ive been googling for a program to install that still uses SMS and not data. So i came here to see if anyone knows one that is like the Oz one that comes preinstalled.
Thanks Steve
you can download the new aim mobile http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/aim-for-windows-mobile or get octrotalk (no visuals, use aim, yahoo, msn). you need a gmail account though to use octrotalk...you can even use gchat on it too. works well and doesnt use to much memory
does it use text messages or data?

Looking at the web site, it shows:
"*U.S. only. AOL Mobile services may require a wireless data plan and charges from your wireless carrier may apply. Not all AOL Mobile services are available on all wireless carriers or on all wireless devices. Check with your wireless carrier to confirm that product use is consistent with your carrier's Terms of Service."
why would you have a phone like this and NOT have data?
he could be like me and used to only have a razr but his lovely gf bought him a kaiser =]
as for the official aim program ,it uses data/wifi. i am also in search for an aim program that uses text instead of data ( data disocnnects too much where i work).
?? blackberry?
texters are for blackberrys! hehe i had a blackberry for 5 years! now i got the Tilt and never going back specialy with 6.1 a big improvment better than my last try for a windows mobile phone witch was a 8525 with 6.0 rom
data is 40 dollars. also the best messanger is www.beejive.com
its in alpha stage but, it works 100% and they wont bring it out of alpha stage. I dont not know why... cuz its a great program
How can I change my HTC Touch pro 2 phone from it's designated orange UK network to the Aussie 3 Network so that I can access my3 and 3 planet apps.
The phone does work ok with the Aussie 3 sim card.
Will I need to update the Rom or upgrade the firmware ?
If yes where can I find the downloads to do this ?
I'm a bit of a novice so if you can keep the info in simple terms please
cheers

the problem you have is that 3 don't sell the TP2, so support from them will be limited/non-existent. Are 'my3' and accessed via the web browser or are they icons you click on?

That wouldnt be necessery as the handset is already unlocked.
Firstly i would install Hard SPL
Secondly i would start looking for either a standard HTC ROM or Custom ROM to remove the Orange branding, this should make things easier. With 3 AUS not selling the TP2 getting into my 3 may be awquard and i cannot help you there.

AFAIK you can access it via the browser, i know that my Orange UK stuff is accessible via the browser so i dont see why it should be an issue on 3, especially when in the UK a lot of GSM handsets are connected on 3 and can access everything.

Nope that aint true, all I did was call 3 and customer service will put you through to the internet tech support people. I told them I have a TP2, and they sent me all the settings by sms so I can use my 2 gig data plan, surf the my3 website, send and receive mms. If this doesnt work for whatever reason, pm me and I'll try get the settings for you.
As a side note, 3's data plans dont include free use of skype and msn messenger for the TP2 because the phone wont support it :S

How does the phone not support it? Palringo is a mutli-protocol IM client I use with the TP2. I also used it with my old Hermes. It does MSN, AIM, ICQ, and a ton of others. Also, there is a Skype application for Windows Mobile that is made by Skype, Inc. You can download it via their website at www.skype.com. And Palringo at www.palringo.com.
Many of these providers have 'custom' apps that they imbed into their shipped ROMS. As there is no shipped ROM from 3 AUS for the TP2, you might be pushing **** up hill. Of course they will support the device as a handset as it runs all the right frequencies etc. There's probably a proxy involved as well - that's how Telstra do it anyway for their apps like Foxtel.

That is true of what seems to be all providers with regards to the custom embedded apps, but to say that it isn't compatible with a program, is going a bit far. As for the proxy, AT&T here in the US uses one too, if I remember correctly.

What I meant was, on my 2 gig data plan, if I was to use a nokia phone for example, the data used for communicating with msn messenger and skype is not taken from the 2 gigs because there is unlimited free use of it since 3 have their own software which the user must download off their websites. There isnt such software available for windows mobile from 3, so data use for skype and msn on a win mob phone would take away from the 2 gig plan.
This is rediculous! It should be included, how hard is it for them to make a win mob version for their customers, the operating systems shouldn't affect compatability.

sorry, I wasn't saying the handset isn't compatible, but rather that it might be difficult to get what is required from the network provider, esp if it is an app.
hopefully carpkernel will be able to get to what he needs through a browser, thus removing the need for any custom telco provided app.

Ah yeah. T-Mobile in the US has a similar thing. The IM app they use, uses your text messaging as opposed to data. Thank goodness here we have unlimited data, so no need to worry about limits.

"Reasonable price" are two words that cannot be used in a sentence to describe Aussie carries for data plans. We dont even have unlimited internet plans for HOME cable and adsl 2, without the provider capping our speeds after reaching 60 gigs on most plans... how backwards are we.

lol I know. Two words that are practically unheard of for Oz. My buddy in Brisbane and another in Adelaide both have the same issues.

The free minutes that 3 (Aus) provide are only available if you use their custom skype client which uses a dialup-gateway for access to skype network.
EDIT: I did post a whole lot of info about using iSkoot to connect to 3skype but it seems that 3 have now thwarted that so it is hopeless. You can (apparently) still use one of the java clients intended for other phones but I cannot confirm this (the old LG Shine jad I have doesn't run on my JBlend java and even if it did it would suck without any touch support or D-pad)
Thanks for your help everyone all sorted...Found the info on the Aussie 3 website. Not exactly the easiest info to find on their site but its just a simple case of putting in your mobile number on the 3 site and they supply a code. They send you a message and you type in the code and the settings are changed Automatically. Planet 3 settings are also sent to the phone so that I can use my pre paid plan. For anyone who has had the same problem cut and paste the link http://www.three.com.au/care and follow the instructions. Thanks again much appreciated.
glad it worked out for you
Thanks for posting that info, am on the 3 network too and this worked for me.
Just received my Touch Pro 2 today from an Australian online store, but I note phone has a Singapore 240V adapter and am downloading the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Singapore section of HTC after punching in the SN. Won't let me download the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Aussie Download area.
I must admit with this non aussie ROM the reception is better than my old touch pro. Carpkernel do you have access to the aussie WM 6.5 upgrade via your SN on the HTC website?
