[Q] Using sms unread count & desktop visualizer - Android Themes

Ok I have searched all morning and I am hoping that someone can help me. I am using desktop visualizer to use custom icons and I have installed sms unread count so that I can get the unread counts for email and sms. My problem is I cant seem to figure out how to use the custom icon with the sms unread count. Could someone please point me in the right direction on how to do this?
Thanks

Read here,I answered about SMS Unread Count app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846485

Thanks. I did try thtat but there are no folders within that one you mentioned. There is just a file in there.

Which folders are at sdcard/data?
And which file is there,"nomedia"?

The folder is in the sdcard/data "com.kanokgems.smswidget" but inside of that folder is just the file "nomedia".

Yes,that`s right!
In this folder put your icons for sms, mail and phone!
Then via settings menu from the app you can choose a custom icon
for sms,mail or phone!
The app then search for custom icons in this folder which is called
"com.kanokgems.smswidget"

ok got it!! For some reason they were not showing up right after I put the icons in there. By any chance do you know what size icons Desktop visualizer uses? When I add the custom icon its bigger than the others and I would like to resize them down to whatever Desktop Visualizer uses as a default.
Thanks again!

Hm,don`t know at the moment,I use 72x72 icons for this!

Yup just resized at 72x72 and they all match now! Thank you so much for all of your help

No problem

Sms count is standard on froyo cos ive had it working but now its not working, android settings are a nightmare, can anyone tell me how to turn it on?

I know this thread is old, but I'd rather dig it up than create a new one. I d/l the app, but on my sd card under data there is no folder to add custom icons. Any one have any idea's??? Thanks in advance

Using your file manager just create the file sdcard/data/com.kanokgems.smswidget and place your icons in the newly created folder

Thanks, I'll give it a shot

I am using both Desktop VisualizeR and SMS unread count, but the icons do not align. The SMS unread Icons are about 20pixels lower that the desktop visualizer icons. Looking at theses off center icons drives me nuts, anybody knows a way to adjust the position of the icon for Sms unread? Thanks.

[Q] [REQUEST] SMS Unread Count MOD, Windows Phone 7 style

Hey all,
I'm really liking the tile look of the new Windows 7 phones (see screenshot) and I found a bundle of png's I can use desktop visualizer to replicate but I'm wondering if anyone would be able to mod the app SMS Unread Count to fit the tile theme and display the unread count for Gmail, phone calls and texts (again, see screenshot). I know there's a thread on how to apply the unread count to png's, but I'm not a developer and it's completely over my head. If anyone's willing to help, I'd be incredibly grateful and more than happy to donate.
I'm about 100 % sure that's posted three or four times - Each in it's own Phone 7 Style thread.
You should really, really try using the search function.
Seriously.
I see that you're new; Did you read the !!!STOP BEFORE YOU POST!!! threads?
Or the rules even? You should have.
It's posted somewhere. Probably in the first post of the threads dedicated to Windows 7 styles.
EDIT: Here's one
Well, when I look at the screenshot it has the unread number inside the picture and not in the bubble above it. I have never seen SMS unread look like that either.
On your SD card you have a folder called "data".
Inside that folder there's another one called "com.kankosmswidget" or something like that.
Just put the icons in that folder and choose Custom Icon when you add SMS Unread Count.

SMS Unread Widget Help

How exactly do I mod the pngs inside the SMS unread apk? I have tried dragging and dropping and pushiung then setting permissions, but nothing will work....it just wont show up in widgets after I edit it.
TIA,
Tee Jay
from memory... and its been a while since i used this app... you have to create a custom icon png and put it somewhere on your device (specific app folder), then in the widget setup menu, you have an option to chose widget icon - your new icon should appear in that list.
let me know how you go.
-----EDIT------
here you go dude, theres an explanation on the dev site...

cheers.

Hey me again. I just have one suggestion so far: I've noticed that when I open an app from one of the ' folders' (like Starred Apps for example), the folder doesn't automatically close when you go back to the home screen. So it would be cool if you could fix that, thanks again for the great app

works on my Vibrant. this app is freakin sweet.thnx
Very nice app man! It's what i was looking for weeks!
Thankyoouuu!!
thank you verry much!!!!!!
ich love this app!!
great app,one thing though, could you please make the icons for the folders appear at the same height as the normal sense ones? For example the internet icon from your app is a bit higher placed on the screen than the normal sense one.
Edit: Found the bug, if you add the folders to homescreen from within the application the icons are placed jsut right,if you add them from android homescreen they appear missplaced.
And one mroe thing, how to i add bookmaks?
Works great with my htc wildfire!
Thanks man!
can u make an option to remove the name of the label i like to just see the icon with no name under it
thanks a lot for this useful app.installed for 3 days.it is so great.
I have AppsOrganizer 1.0 installed. When trying to install this app, it asks me to uninstall appsorganizer. Is this the same app maybe?
The name for AppsOrganizer is com.google.code.appsorganizer
Great on desire hd! However the sense style graphics you added are slightly blurry

SMS unread count with minimalist adw theme

I have been searching for ages for a solution to this but couldn't find one so I am starting a thread.
Im running adw launcher with the minimalist theme. I've installed sms unread count and got custom icons to work by placing in the folder. I cant however find the icons from the minimalist theme anywhere. I've looked on-line and on my phone and even considered using a screen capture and cropping the icon again but just wondering if anyone can point me to the directory on the phone where the icons are and if they aren't available this way can I get the SMS, Gmail and call icons anywhere on-line.
Thanks
Simon
94 views and no ideas?Should be so easy in theory
What about some software on my pc to look into the minimalist theme and extract the icons?
Ok,
1) using root explorer or similar navigate to /data/app/"whatever the theme is called.apk/
2) with root explorer you then press and hold, select extract all.
3) Then navigate to where the file was extracted, for me its /sdcard/extracted/ you will see the folder for you theme.
4) open folder and navigate to /res/drawable-hdpi/ in this file you will find lots of .png files some of these will be the icons you are looking for.
Hope this helps

[Q] how to locate, create & change icons

Hello - trying to search, but only getting search down error. I have the captivate with root and am trying to locate where the icons are kept. I would like to keep the 4 programs on the bottom dock, but want to change the icon. I wanted to go into Photoshop, but I can't find where the icons are kept. Any help or advice would be great. I prefer not to use another launcher to change icons as I like the screen the way it is.

There's an app called apk editor. Its on the i9000 themes and apps forum I believe.

Thanks! Going to check it out now.
OK, I'll admit it - I have no idea what I am doing. I do not know how to use the edit apk or apk manager. Is there any way to mount my phone, open photoshop, find an icon and edit it? I really am most wanting to edit the app icon on the dock. Does any one know where to find this icon? Also, where are the other icons - are they in each individual program? Thanks. Peace. Michele

1. extract the app with root explorer to the sd card,
2. put it on your computer and change it to a .zip file
3. extract the res folder and go into the drawable-hdpi
4. replace the current icon with the icon that you want (should be named something similar to "homescreen_icon_musicplayer.png" which is the stock music player icon) it shouldnt be to hard to figure out which one it is. just make sure the names are the same when you replace it.
5. replace the original res folder inside the zip file with the modified version
6. cange the zip back into a .apk and put it back onto the sd card
7. Finally using root explorer replace the old apk with the new one from the sd card.

Yes each app icon is built into the app. If all you really want to do is change the bar icon on your main screen then I would grab Launcher pro or another launcher that allows for custom Icons and use that or you will be editing each app one by one
