This phone has only been successfully flashed to one other carrier that I am aware of. The SIM card in this is for Verizon's LTE network and not for like a world phone or GSM network. So if you are looking to use this phone on a GSM network I think you are out of luck as this phone only contains CDMA radio hardware.

[Q] Can verizon moto x be used in oversea CDMA network

Hi guys, I'm currently in China and I want my friend in US to bring me a moto x. My ISP is running CDMA in China so I guess the only option is the Verizon version. My question is does it have a sim card slot so I can insert my own CDMA sim card to use? Is there any lock on the device? Thanks in advance for helping!
It depends where you are going, generally though you will need to get a GSM sim card to use your phone unless there is roaming support with verizon through another company such a vodaphone. Just be careful as data while roaming is VERY expensive.

Thanks for reply. Does that mean the sim card is only for GSM/WCDMA, not for CDMA(EDGE, Rev.A)?
I haven't been on Verizon since the thunderbolt but I know that had a Sim card slot for the LTE Sim card.. I would assume this would have the same on Verizon now but can't be sure you'd have to wait for someone with a vzw x answers

Modern verizon sim cards are used for CDMA, GSM and LTE connections. When you travel I'd say just get a GSM sim card and don't even worry about CDMA.
I've inserted non-Verizon CDMA RUIM into XT1060 and it works! Though no data at all, and ##PROGRAM and *#*#4636#*#* do not work, so cannot access user activation settings.
A sim from my wife's AT&T iPhone 5 worked fine in my Verizon Moto X with HSPA+ speeds. No issues at all, no nothing. Just worked.

GSM is not an issue, connecting to another CDMA network usually is!

[Q] Moto X Republic Wireless

Hi. Greetings to all
I'm from Malaysia, and I'm interested to buy Moto X from RW since it's cheaper than DE. And I'm sure it's locked, but does it support GSM network? On wiki it writes unknown. Before, it used to share the same column as Sprint
Thanks in advance for your answer/s!

Since RW uses Sprint as its network, the Moto X you buy from them would be CDMA.
The phone is CDMA but it does have a SIM slot. So I'm wondering if it's possible to use with a GSM carrier. Or how to even root this phone.
The sim card is for the lte.

That's the thing. Is it really CDMA? If I'm not mistaken, a CDMA phone doesn't use a SIM and doesn't even have a SIM slot. So, what's the SIM slot for? If one can put a SIM card, shouldn't it mean one can also use the GSM network? No?

Yep, noticed that when I went thru RW website. But can you explain why is there a SIM slot?

Sure, LTE is the reason for SIM.
CDMA is a single-band network (hence why previously you could not talk and surf the web simultaneously). In order to connect on the LTE frequency, the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card identifies the phone for registering on the network.
Sprint uses 850Mhz for CDMA and 1900Mhz for LTE.

So, you're saying all CDMA phones are using SIM now for its LTE connectivity?
I'm not sure if EVERY cdma LTE phone uses a SIM, but I do know that it's very common.
Every LTE phone uses a Sim. Because LTE is for one thing a gsm technology.
The republic wireless moto x hardware probably does support normal non LTE gsm as its the same hardware as the sprint model . that said its probably boot loader locked and firmware locked to not support gsm . they are not that dumb to let people buy the phones to not use on their network .

It's not that I don't wanna use their network. It's because of the limited availability and, price point too

This is what I was curious about. Whether or not the radios are there and just disabled, or whether they do not exist in it at all.

CDMA support on T-Mobile LG G4 H811?

I have bought Unlocked LG G4 from ebay here in India.
The Model is H811LB (Gold Colour).
I am wondering if I can insert CDMA Sim card and use CDMA network in this device. Or is it a GSM only device?
Thanks in advance.

The H811 G4 is only a gsm device.
