[Q] How to have multi-language dictionaries TMOUS - HD7 General

Is it possible to have multi-language dictionaries in Tmous HD7?
I found this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824829
but I can't select multiple keyboard languages in the settings. Is it just me?
70% of my txts are in spanish...

I'm at same page than you.
Using a T-Mobile here in Brazil, so... no way to predict portuguese words.
Writing without accents too.

You know you can hold down a keyboard button to get the accented characters, right?

Yeah, I do =) But not all the accents is available.
Like: ã, õ... I can't find them.
But this is not a major issue since I don't write anything so special that must have all the accents.

I use Resco Keyboard Pro (Screen Keyboard, I don't know if it works on the hardware keyboard as I have an Alpine, you can set a secondary the keyboard language, and just press a key on keyboard and you can swap to a Norweigan keyboard, I know cause I have a sister in Norway.
Download demo from here to try out.
www.resco.com
So it can also remap the hardware keyboard?
-John
No, you allready have it. Pres 'a' or 'o' button, then doublepres dot button. After that pres space for as manu times than 'a' becomes 'ä'. Enjoy!
Is there not a faster way? Like a registry hack that would give "ä" when pressing "a" twice very fast? I think that would be a lot faster method - doubleclicking "a" rapidly to get "ä".
Could this be done with a registry editor?

Hej! How do you make this characters with Swedish ROM? I don't have it here, so can't say. Do you know?
The other way is to install Aekmap and remap buttons according to the way you want them to (ae.inc.ru)

I tried Aekmap but I just couldn't customize it. The menu was hard to use, is there a help file somewhere?
PS. Also, I can't see any scandinavian letters on the Full Screen Keyboard.
I don't know why everything has to be so hard with these Win CE devices, I never had problems finding easy to use programs for my Palm devices...

I use SPB Keyboard Pro, you can set a secondary the keyboard language, and just press a key on keyboard and you have your characters, I know cause I have a sister in Norway. In fact I use a lot of their software, which has improved the WM2003 no end.

Well, in order to make it work you have to read an AEC FORMAT section at Aekmap page.
You may contact me via ICQ or by PM and I will explain you in details if the web-site doesn't give you a clue.
Solution to get scandinavian characters (å, ä ö)
This is the most simple way to get scandinavian/Swedish charset on your device.
Hardkeyboard:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/Misc/Swedish hardkeyboard fix.zip
(Source:http://www.smartmobile.se/)
Softkeyboard:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/Misc/Scandinavian softkeyboard.zip
(Source:http://www.epocket.no/tastatur/)
No tweaking needed.
Have a nice day!
Hi, resurrecting an old thread... I just got a new HTC Wizard and I can't get the softkeyboard from http://www.epocket.no/tastatur/ to work.
I installed it, and it shows up on the Remove Programs menu but I can't use it... I mean; I can't find the program anywhere and the softkeyboard looks the same as before.

typing on the device

Hello,
I am really thinking of getting the HTC touch diamond2. I currently have HTC tilt (or tytn II). I use it mostly for messaging. Anyways, my question is: how easy is it to type on the device? Is it as good as an iphone (better or worse)? Can you use your finger tips or do you have to use the stylus? Is there a video I can watch someone typing on it?
Thank you
I have moved from the Touch Pro (with keyboard) like yourself I used it for texts and emails, I thought I would hate the new keyboard but its pretty good, its got heptic feedback on the keys and they are nicely spaced out. Its very responsive to use, the best HTC keyboard I have used and I dont make many mistakes and dont have to use stylus.
new keyboard is great for typing...holding it in two hands a writing with both fingers without any mistake...
That is indeed good news. Can't wait until I get mine. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. I also type a lot on it and I am hoping that will be a pleasant experience.
Personally I have gone from an AT&T Tilt (Full HW Keyboard) to the TD2 and also thought I would hate the lack of hardware keyboard, but it has really grown on me, and with no problems at all with typing I might stick with the TD2 instead of going onto the TP2. It just works for me, though lack of 3g sucks for me here in the states... lol
I'm thinking of maybe getting the UK version, cause the device is delayed here in Norway.
Question is: Is it difficult to access special symbols (letters) like Æ Ø Å on the UK keyboard?
I've never owned an HTC device so don't know how one normally access them. They are however crucial, and used quite frequently.

This is a very interesting question, I have refrained from UK version till now, waiting for the french version only to get a soft keyboard with french layout (including é, ç, à, ...). I do not care having the OS localized in english (in fact, i would even choose english over french for the OS), but the qwerty layout is a deal breaker.
Is it possible to change the keyboard layout? Or even better, add different keyboard layout and T9 dictionaries so they appear simultaneously in the WinMo entry switcher? I would love to just switch among the different keyboard installed if needed (having a french one and a non-western thai one would be great, adding japanese would be even better )
I ordered mine from Expansys and they told me, after having talked to HTC, that it would be possible to update the device to include different keyboard layouts. I hope this is correct, because I cannot be without Swedish characters. Otherwise, could Fingerkeyboard solve the issue?
Hi!
Originally I got the 20th of April as a dispatch date form KlartSvar (the reseller used by my employer), but as you say the device is delayed. I talked to a representative from Brightpoint this morning regarding the delay, and he said that the new delivery date to resellers is the 5th of May. Hopefully this is correct, I will wait until then before deciding if I have to look around for a WWE edition somewhere.
If someone could give some information about if it's possible to write accent characters on the WWE xT9 keyboards, I would appreciate the feedback.
I guess that cabs for all languages for EzInput2 (topaz HTC keyboards) will eventually be available anyway, when localized devices start hitting resellers in different countries.
Regards,
PK

Are you using the default EzInput? And in landscape mode or portrait? I have a Diamond and had to give up on the Full QWERTY as well as the Compact QWERTY because I hated one-handed typing (and it was too small to type with both hands).
I am currently using SpB Keyboard on my Diamond, with the landscape fullscreen keyboard, and so far that has helped a lot. I can type really fast with two thumbs now.
Special characters are available with the WWE version using the HTC full qwerty keyboard. They aren't visible on the keyboard, but if you press and hold for example the a key a popup character selector appears giving access to
eight different variations of accent including the Æ and Å (I'm typing this on a MAC and don't know how to access these characters on it so can only copy and paste)
You can also used the standard WM keyboard and get at them by pressing the symbol key, but its really only usable with the stylus.
I've got a Diamond, so my question is how is the qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? The reason I ask is because I read a review that said the screen width has not changed between the Diamond and Diamond2. That doesn't seem right. Can anyone comment on both the screen width and typing in portrait mode?
Hi!
Thanks for the feedback! What about the xT9 dictionary then, is it possible to switch to a different languages in the WWE edition? If so, which languages?

PK

Its locked to english, but there may have been an option to select a different language at setup time, to be honest I can't remember and don't want to hard reset to find out. Perhaps someone else will know? If its English only that shouldn't really be a problem, just flash a ROM in your own language when its available.
Got my D2 today. Very happy. But there is no language option as far as the keyboard goes. Have not tried fingerkeyboard yet.

Second, ewww yuck, stroke input? Isn't that for old people who were educated before PinYin?
Third, you should be able to input Chinese for new contacts. The problem is that HTC changed the font that they use for those screens and most chinese font cabs don't font link it. Search your registry for fontlink and make sure the Helvetica Neue OTS font includes a link to your Chinese font. Probably, MSYH.ttf. After that, soft reset and things should be fine.
If you still have problems after that, and your regional settings were set to China (PRC), then that's just weird.

[Q] Additional dictionary on stock CM7 keyboard

Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to add additional dictionaries (I'm interested in the Romanian dictionary but this could apply to others as well) to the standard GB Keyboard in the CM7? I know it has something to do with modifying the LatinIME.apk main.dict file or something similar, though I can't seem to locate a valid file that would contain the romanian words. Can anyone share some thoughts on this? Thanks!
Tri Swype it definately has Romanian. If you dont like the swyping switch of and still have nicer keyboard and languages support.
Just register on theyr site

Swype is nice and does have a Romanian dictionary, but I'm already a fan of the default GB keyboard. Anyone knows how I can get myself a dictionary for the default keyboard?

Thanks for the reply. However, this might be a good advantage only for those people who are bilingual.
I know there are very few out there, but dude, this is one kick-ass feature!
interested, this would be a useful feature, as right now the only way to type in other languages is using the onscreen keyboards

ICS supports this in it's input settings, Hashcodes build supports every language. I've tested with arabic, chinese traditional, etc working on the HW keyboard, once I had the input settings settings correct it worked 100% as it should have. So I would recommend a firmware upgrade, the software you're looking for to easily support any language for the HW keyboard for the d3 is hashcodes ics build atm. For some reason setting the keyboard to "System Default" or whatever would always be US English, had to clear that and actually select the language I wanted for the keyboard as well as setting it for the "System Language" in the Language and Input settings.
I'm using MultiLing Keyboard for English, Japanese and Vietnamese. It's the only one I've tried that support Vietnamese and doesn't get confused by the hardware keyboard. (I don't remember if I tried Go Keyboard though)
The main feature for me is that Shift-Space switches languages, which is handy when I'm changing language half-way through a sentence... Now if only my 'switch language' key worked...
