'sense' is a combination of many things however the biggest one is just the sense launcher. in htc's eyes sense is also their contact apps syncing apps ect... all this stuff will still be there along with sense.com services if you change the launcher.
the sense stuff on the phone really isnt that much more than normal because htc's programs replace alot of the stock gear
however stuff like amazom mp3 preloaded is annoying so they could probably be removed
Ok thanks. Just wanted to know if there was any slowdown in performance and deterioration in battery if two launchers were running simultaneously

I used to use a sense rom and I remember in the browser you could long press on text and you could drag to select and from there use translate and other features... Now using launcher pro on shadowrom 2.1 and would love that feature... Any ideas?

Yeah know how to select text lol... Neeext!

No ideas, because there aren't any. Sense browser requires Sense framework, which requires Sense ROM.

I've asked this before because I want it too. Apparently this IS impossible, and there is no way to port it without having sense entirely. I wish there was.
So your saying its impossible to have that feature because sense has already done that? Theirs no dev that could make that feature possible without sense? Well then sense is starting to have features over stock android.. how disappointing

And I know the deal with sense not being pick and choose.. But I guess what I meant is their anyone who could write an add on to the browser or even an add on to dolphin or something.. Seems like a pretty decent feature to have

The thing is, the text selection method isn't just in the browser, it's across the entire phone in the sense ports. So it's an integral part of the OS.
I don't even mind the select text in stock android.. I just wish their were other plugins for android browser so we could have translate integrated into the browser. I guess just a wish for gingerbread or the next release. Copy and paste and leaving the browser into translate isn't the worst but it is annoying

Hi,
I recently got note and previously I had HTC desire. After switching I found 2 things so difficult to adopt.
1. Very less widgets here than in my desire. No Samsung widgets for music, FM radio widget, gmail n Facebook separate etc.
2. The App drawer window. It just get grouped randomly in my grid view. Can that be sorted out based on alphabets?
3. Can I able to use HTC widgets apks for getting my ease back.
Any sites about reasonable Samsung galaxy note widgets will be much useful.
Hoping to get a solution for this probs.

2. Try appzorter from the market. Its how I keep my apps sorted alphabetically. Seems strange that its not done automatically but eh.
3. You can't run HTC widget without running sense and I can't imagine that will ever get ported to the note.
As for 1 you'll just have to find alternatives from the market

Thnx dude.
Do u hv any idea of where to get the widgetwidgets for FM radio?

Hello, I'm coming from my One XL and wondering about my bf's HTC Raider's very recent stock pushed update to ICS 4.0.3 and sense 3.6... I'm noticing HTC did the same thing with the raiders' update that they did with the One XL and horribly broke multitasking... My bf is pretty choked about it, and I'm disappointed in HTC's move to do this. I was planning to downgrade his phone back to stock gingerbread with sense 3.(1?) but wanted this community's feedback, perhaps recommend a Rom with ics and non broken multitasking?
After a quick glance, I can't see much reference to this problem for you guys.

What do you mean, broke multitasking?
Specifically - whats broken about it?
Say, he opens a web browser, then switches to music player, then back to web browser, just as one example of many... The web browser will reload the web page because the application was actually shut down when another process was initiated. The same thing with Facebook and many other apps. This is an issue very similar with the HTC One X out-of-the-box; HTC has "decided for us" that we don't need more than "X amount of processes" running simultaneously. With this said, the Raider handled multitasking extremely well pre-update with no problems at all; he could switch between chrome, trillian, music, the camera, and multitudes of other apps without any app ever needing to reflow.
I don't understand HTC's desire to cripple their phones as of late... The Raider worked beautifully and I'm disappointed to see HTC take this rout. The One X would work beautifully if HTC just screwed off with this vicious multitasking policy.
Edit: I'd also like to report that this update has also suddenly caused his phone to start overheating, too... Damn near burned my hand just holding the raider.

Apps usually get killed when the system needs to free up RAM, right? Could an app be eating up all your free RAM? Run SystemPanel Lite (free in the play store) to check out your CPU usage (re: the heat?) and your free RAM (re: apps being closed?)
Re: Going back to GingerBread. I don't know if the stock Gingerbread RUU rom will allow it to flash now that you are on the ICS update. I tried that once. It threw an error (complaning that the HBOOT fw version was not what it expected). I like ICS. Running a custom rom (Holics 1.2).

Applications are also killed (as of the Raider update, and stock for One X) after X Amount of processes are opened... Which is horrible because that even seems to include background processes... At least I think so. I'm surprised to see lots of ICS custom roms for the Raider and no reference to these issues, or any mention of this update. :/ But its definitely the update that's screwing my bf's phone.

Hypothetically, could I not flash a custom gingerbread Rom with cwm/twrp or would that cause issues? I'll see if he has any issues with a custom ICS Rom first, since this push update is so new maybe you guys haven't had a chance to mess with it yet... but IF it was necessary, wouldn't that work?

You could try searching the forums for the SUPERCHARGER script... That might help?
I know it makes minfree adjustments...
I have used it before...
Also... I don't experience the problem your talking about running MIUI...

I haven't tried it yet, but last time I used it with my One X, it didn't produce any real results since the task-killer-thingy is, I read, embedded into the newer sense framework itself or something. Definitely worth a shot though...

Under development options theres something like Background Process limit...I found it plunking around with my HTC phone. Try that maybe? Google what it does, but im pretty sure it will kill your last process if you set it to no background processes.
If you tried this already sorry it didn't work
Anyone else getting terrible performance from the Facebook app? I've had much better scrolling with my HOXL. I've now begun using the Web touch version, since it's working much better.

Probably an issue with FB app not optimized for the S600 It kinda is the first phone to release with this SoC
Me as well. Also seeing lag in play store. Anyone else?
Someone mentioned that enabling gpu rendering would fix this but don't know if it's true. Don't really use Facebook.

If you think that's bad, you should try Facebook Home. I actually like FB Home (leaving a shortcut in the app drawer to Apex) but when I tried it on the HTC One, it was so choppy.
Ok,so ive searched and searched trying to find out how to use emojis(iphone style)on a stock Jellybean 4.2.2 htc one(not rooted),and all it comes up with in search is ROMS.I have the standard emoji faces, but after the iphone style (buildings, animals, etc).I was using Chompsms, which had a plugin for emoji, but chompsms was using 30% of my battery life a day.Ive downloaded and tried installing a few off the Playstore, but they still dont show up.Can someone suggest something?Am i doing something wrong? This is my first Android phone,so please be gentle.Any advice would be appreciated

There's an emoji keyboard in the play store. It's a piece of crap though and it sucks to have to change keyboards back and forth.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Try Textra with the associated free emoji plug in. It has all the iphone emojis and works fine for me.
I had the chompsms app(also made by Delicous inc),but it was destroying my battery life for some reason.I also had the emoji plug in for chompsms, which would be the same as Textra.I was hoping there would be a setting.somewhere that would enable native Emoji, without rooting or require different roms and/or crappy, half done play store apps

I second TextraSMS. Aside from the native CM10.2 messaging app, it's the best one I found in the Play Store.

Okay speaking of the native CM messaging app, would it work to just grab the messenger.apk and install it as a system app in a stock based rom? Or is that crazy talk?
