[Q] Turkish Charset problem :( - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
First, sorry my bad English. I didn't found any solution in Turkish forums. I have a problem with Turkish characters incoming SMS. Turkish language is including extra "ı,ş,ü,ö,ç,ğ" characters. If incoming SMS has a "ı" character in sentence, i see that like "ğ" For example: Writing in SMS "nasılsın", it seems "nasğlsğn"
I updated to Froyo 2.2 last month. When i was on Eclair 2.1, i did not saw any that problem. I think so problem about with charset (iso8859-1, UTF-8, windows-1253 bla bla)
Have you any idea how i can fix it?
Firmware: FROYO.XXJPO
Regards.

Use other firmware. This one is european, as opposed to indian, asian, african (one of them probably has support for language). ANd I don't know which exactly.
And wrong forum mate...

Almost all have tried them all firmware. Please help.

Pasamsin,
Which csc version are you on?
Are you also aware of http://www.pcextra.com.tr/haber/201...android-2-2-froyo-turkiye-guncellemesi-cikti/

Doesn't matter if you're on FROYO or ECLAIR. It doesn't matter if you have European CSC or Turkish one.
There are problems in Turkish operators, regarding unicode characters.
Try sending a sms with Turkish characters from an iPhone or another Android phone USING UTF8. You will see that characters display properly.
Try sending a sms with Turkish characters from an old type phone with no UTF8 support (only GSM alphabet). You will see that characters are mixed up.
Workaround: Tell all your friends not to use Turkish characters. That's the only solution that works everytime.

Additional languages for the standard onscreen keyboard app

Dear all,
my question is: is there any possibility of adding a new language to the list of languages supported by the standard HTC onscreen keyboard? I have stock WWE ROM version, but would like to have a possibility of typing in Russian and in Hebrew.
Another problem is that while Russian letters are shown correctly, Hebrew is shown as boxes... any chance to have Hebrew also?
Thanks.
i think that is possible like the arabic version (have a look in the arabic rom thread here in this board..) but i am afraid there is nothing around for russian or hebrew at the moment; isnt it?

SMS bug(s)

In the newest Norwegian ROM, there is some SMS bugs.
1: when you start typing, the first letter disappears, so you need to retype it.
2: the phonepad panel often disappears when you start typing, and you have to reopen it to continue the typing.
I've tried to get sollutions from Norwegian forums, but with no luck.
I don't know if this problem exists on the other countries ROM's, but several has reported the problem on the Norwegian ROM.
So, is there any sollution to this? Reg. tweak, or file editing?
TIA
Same problem here.
i'm running the latest (2.03) dutch stock rom.
I have problem number 1, and im running on dutty's v4.
Ive always had that problem, regardless of what rom im on - its damn annoying, although i now find myself automatically pressing the key i want twice :s
Here as well! Norwegian 2.03
Ive got the same problem on the latest official Danish rom
New ROM update feb. 27 for English (Pan Europe and UK), Italian, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish.
Anyone had the chance to see if the SMS bugs are fixed now?

[Q] Just flashed but I can't type in Greek

Hello!
I just flashed my phone to Froyo by following this guide http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/2921-How-to-use-Odin-to-upgrade-to-Froyo-from-Eclair and then flashed to Darky's v6.0 Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
Everything works flawlessly but I cannot type/write in Greek.
The funny thing though is if I change the locale to Greece all the menus are in Greek so it supports Greek Text.
How do I add Greek writing language? The only available text writing languages are: US/UK English, Deutsch, Francais, Espanol, Italiano, Nederlands, Portugues Europeu, Polski, @#@$#%* (must be Arabic, don't know), Turkce
Do I have reflash all the firmware? Can't I simply flash Greek Input Language?
Any links will be greatly appreciated thanks
Hi Marios,i m Greek too,and got the same prob.Since i upgraded to 2.2 then 2.2.1 and finally today at Darky romi havent found any greek...wish we could add some, but so far i havent seen a post how too...
Can someone help us?
hey, actually i also didnt find an out of the box method to type in greek, but finally tried the app "greek input method". Enable in Settings -> Text and Languageinput the greek keyboard and then everytime you wanna type greek do a long press on the text field and select greek keyboard as input method. By typing the flag the keyboard changes from QWERTY to greek keyboard.

Language for phone and messaging.

Sorry for stupid question but...
I recently flashed current Overcome Kernel and Rom and it works like a charm but Messaging and Phone application are on english, rest of system is completly german, as it should be. ;-)
Can I change this by flashing another phone/modem file with Odin? Could anyone recommend me one? I am on T-Mobile Germany network and def. Need GSM and 3G...
send from my SGT with Overcome...
If you flashed 1.6.4 version of overcome. Sadly phone and messaging will remain in English locale as the Alterbridge86 (dev of overcome) wasnt able to merge other locales including German successfully (The Messaging kept FCing horribly and phone had issues). It has nothing to do with the modem.
Ok... just was interested... not too hard to have it on english but as a perfectionist I would have loved that...

Good morning friends. Sorry for my poor English, but I'm from Argentina and not mastered the language well. My query is as follows. I just upgraded to version S galaxy JVH, and everything works to perfection! But when trying to select the input language to write Spanish with XT9, including language does not appear .. Anyone know if you can add this language? Thank you very much!
Greetings!
