If your brother's device is a Motorola Milestone 1 or Motorola Droid 1:
1. Install RSD lite and drivers for the phone
3. Enter the bootloader (Dpad Up + Power Button)
2. Flash a vulnerable recovery ( Only for Motorola Milestone) http://www.mediafire.com/?jzzjmmrvwkz
3. Go to http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone or http://and-developers.com/sbf:droid depending on your phone, download an sbf from there and flash it via RSD lite.
4. You should be done
Let me know!
Be aware to use these steps only if you have the phones I specified

[Q] AP Fastboot failure after Official OTA .906

I'm on stock .890 (rooted) and I noticed the official .906 update available on my phone today by going into system updates. It downloaded, and I had it install. The phone automatically rebooted to do the install and gets stuck at the AP Fastboot Flash Mode (s) (Boot Failure) Invalid CG Version.
If I restart the phone again, it boots into Android and I can get to my home screen, but after about 5 - 10 seconds it just reboots back into the Boot Failure screen above. I'm stuck in this loop.
The fact that it does boot back into the current .890 android, (for about 10 seconds) leads me to think this can be fixed easily? How can I stop it from trying to automatically reboot back into AP Fastboot?
Any suggestions on how to get out of this?
I have no idea how to fix this since I haven't played with my Droid yet. You could try booting into recovery and try wiping delvik cache and partition and if that doesn't work download a stock version of the rom or a custom one and flash it is what I would do. It seems like your filesystem got corrupted from the root

I would use RSD lite to flash 5.6.890 by booting with M+Power and then AP Fastboot mode.

This won't work because he doesn't have root or boot/safe strap installed and you can't wipe partitions/dalvik through stock recovery.
ohhh makes sense. haha
I'm still confused about the difference between x+power and m+power
Would this be something Motofail one click could fix?

X+Power gets you to stock android recovery. M+Power gets you to the selection menu where you can boot into AP Fastboot mode to flash, or boot into BP Tools to access Bootstrap (Hash's in particular).

Most likely not because he can't access the phone to connect via Charge Only nor is he able to install Boot/Safe Strap. Maybe root through ADB and push it that way? Maybe...
I was able to get into Clockwork. During that brief few seconds that it would boot back into Android, I was able to quickly use the Boot Into Recovery option. As using the hard key combinations wouldn't work, it just kept bringing me back to the AP boot failure.
Once in Clockwork, I was able to do a factory wipe and cache clears. After that, I could succesfully boot into the OS and gain access to the device without it continually trying to reboot. But it didn't help....as I tried to download and install the OTA to .906 it restarted the device to atempt the install and it brought me right back to the same boot failure loop.
My final resolution was to use psouza4's 890 update script to get back to a complete fresh stock image of .890. Once I did that, the official OTA to .906 installed perfectly. I re-rooted and was good to go.
There was probably a much simpler solution, but I didn't know it. Plus I felt better starting over from scratch anyway.
Not sure exactly what it was causing it...probably my own stupidity.

i tried to install stock but i can't with "adb reboot fastloader" beacuse it restarts every 10-20 seconds"
and according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444957
We have two (ok more but were not going into that) boot modes. First is normal, which boots regular Android, and in this case boots with system write protected. Second is recovery mode, normally it boots recovery without write protection. Our exploit will hijack recovery bootmode and boot Android without write protection.
After running this exploit, if you boot normally /system will be write protected. If you boot to "recovery", Android will boot without write protection. If you wish to edit system, you must boot into "recovery" to do so, any changes made will stick and will work in either bootmode. My suggestion is to make your changes in "recovery" and run the device day to day in normal mode, until we are certain "recovery" mode will be 100% stable for day to day use.
there is not a single drop of help with fastloader
edit: i managed to enable usb depuration by clicking several times on status/kernel version
i can run the command now, moto x responds and just Fast reboot, does not enter into fastloader
reached a dead end, now im desperated
Just put you phone into fast boot mode, power and volume down, open adb, connect your phone and type in fastboot erase cache as stated in the second post. Your phone is not bricked but its trying to flash the ota automatically. You've rooted with jcases method and that installs a custom recovery which is not recognized by the ota, you need stock recovery for it to flash.

I specifically know very little about pwnmymoto root method, my boot loader is unlocked, so I rooted the old fashion way. I know pwnmymoto hijacks the stick recovery. You may want to rsdlite back to stock, I believe there's a fxz with the latest update and root with jcases new method. Unless someone with more experience with pwnmymoto replies

You need to either flash the stock recovery and system through fastboot, or just RSD the whole thing (which deletes all your data). That's the only way you'll get it to accept the OTA update. Without the stock recovery, it will keep boot looping when you try to install the OTA.
Yes. Restore to stock. Threads galore. Once you boot you'll get an OTA prompt that'll work no problem.

[Q] Rooted and now soft brick stuck on boot

Help!
I rooted my Moto X (RockMyMoto) and everything has been fine.
Hubby got a new Moto X and I rooted his just fine. However after installing and restoring from Titanium Backup I am now stuck on the boot loader. It gets through all the animations and then freezes just before the verizon logo would typically load. I can press power and down volume buttons to get to the Fastboot screen but when I try any of the options "normal, recovery, factory" they all boot into the same problem.
I'm sure something in his Titanium backup/restore did this but I don't know how to get booted up so I can fix it. Or at this point I'd take a Factory reset and start over.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That did it, thank you! Love this XDA community!
FIxed Solution to Moto X soft brick issue ( SD card Wiped ).
Finally got solution for this soft brick issue.
I had same problem. I accedently wiped my whole sdcard while wiping through twrp.
lost all the files, backup n all. noting to restore !
The only thing left was TWRP on my screen.
N if i tried to reboot, it said "are you sure ? No OS installed" kind of thing. Because there wasnt !
After pulling out an all n8er reading all related posts & threads on XDA, finally i was able return to my stock firmware moto X xt1052 India (AsiaRetail) by following method. (Method applied for all moto X variants provided stock firmware is available)
Thanks to all the bros in this XDA thread
* [GUIDE][VIDEO] Moto X - Return to 100% stock (using RSD Lite OR manual flash)
*ZEDOMAX on youtube.
1.I think in the case of all sd wipe, only flashing any ROM will not work.
But anyway if you havent washed white & still stuck,
go on youtube & search for ZEDOMAX-How to Copy Files Over to your Android In a Bootloop with No OS using ADB!
you will get the video & right instructions. Very helpful.
2 Now if you are all wiped like me, Dont panic ! There is an option of flashing a stock firmware on your device.
Go to this XDA thread
[GUIDE][VIDEO] Moto X - Return to 100% stock (using RSD Lite OR manual flash)
RSD lite worked pretty good for me.
++NOTE++
1. If you are in TWRP recovery & trying to connect to RSD lite, it wont show your device.
Push power + vol up + vol down altogether for about 10 sec & let'em go.(It might stuck on BTLDR UNLKD screen, dont worry, do it again) &
You will enter in fastboot menu. RSD lite will recognize your device Now when you plug USB cable to your PC (After Installing all the drivers suggested in video), you can follow that video from thread to flash stock fmwr. RSD will now work fine.
2. Moto X toolkit is gr8, but not for xt1052. Dont go there.
3. You will get most of the StockFirmwares here. Specially for 1052 bros. I bet you wont find'em this easily anywhere else. !

is the SF i installed. & it was same as my original one. 624MB.
GoodLuck bros.
I hope it helps to soft bricked bros ending up here. Hit Thanks if it works & of course let me know if there is anything else.

Hey guys I am desperate for help as I am loosing my mind! I would like to fully format internal and reflash fxz but don't know if that would work or partitioning scheme. PLEASE can anyone!! help me??? also all files I find are 404 for the most part and have adb/fastboot, RSD lite, current moto drivers and sdk/android studio installed RSD cant see the phone, only visible through fastboot.

Motorola Milestone Stuck in Bootloader :/ Help

Hello. I bought like new Motorola Milestone today. On that phone I have everything like from shop-stock. 2.1 Android and unrooted. So.. I decided to install vulnerable recovery by RSD Lite. Everything cool; phone restart to system. Next I insert sd card from my old Milestone with open recovery on it. I clicked "X" and select update.zip from sd card. Open Recovery turns on. On SD I have also CyanogenMod7 so i want to install that. Phone turns off in half of instalation. I've tried install it again about 10 times. My phone now stuck on Motorola Logo or it booted to Bootloader . I will forgot; I've tried also to install nandroid cm9 backup from my another broken milestone with all files (boot.img, bpsw.img, cdrom.img, cust.img, data.img, devtree.img, lbl.img, logo.img, system.img) when it was able to enter openrecovery. Don't know why I've tried to install vulnerable recovery again and....My phone always turns on to bootloader 90.78 with Errors;- Err:1A,23,35,23,00. What happens? I don't have any idea so, please help me. Is there any way to install android by RSD Lite?
Sorry for bad english :/
