Hello everybody,
i just received my new HD7 and i was wondering how to backup and sync SMS; is this possible? If so, how? By outlook or on the cloud? I went to the windows phone section of my windows live but i could not find it.
Maybe the solution is obvious (nad apologize for the question!) but i cannot see it! I tryed to search this forum and browse the net, but could not find any satisfactory answer.
Thanks in advance for your advices!

I've just got my brand new Kaiser today (T-Mobile UK flavour), now I have quite a problem. My old Wizard at the end of 2 years has stopped syncing with computers, I've tried with 4 different machines, no luck.
Is there any way to transfer directly between the two handsets at all? Although I have a copy of my contacts in Outlook its quite out of date and I'd prefer to do this directly.
Can anyone help?
You could use backup software like PIM Backup, to save the contacts to a memory card, and then restore it on the other side.
In terms of installing it, you could transfer the cab using a working PPC/card reader and then install off that.
You should be able to use bluetooth to beam the contacts.
Might have to do one by one though.
Don't know about the prophet, but with the Kaiser you can send individual contacts as messages. Probably better to save the contacts to SIM, and then place the SIM into the Kaiser, and copy them to contacts.
If you use the SIM, don't you lose a great deal of info from the contacts? Like street or e-mail addresses.
Read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde... other WM devices WITHOUT Outlook or Exchange for a COMPLETE tutorial.

Thanks one and all, feel a bit stupid now having searched the forums and not found what I was after I should have searched the wiki as well!

Yeah, now that I've migrated my tutorials, Bibles etc. in there, mpost questions asked in these forums already have an answer there.
Hey, I have a problem.
I want all my contacts from my Diamond on my pc, so I can put them on my new phone.
Now, I don't have outlook, and can't download it (I'm on smallband, 3kb/s for the win)
My question was, is there anywhere a small application that can retrieve them for me, or are the contacts somewhere in the HTC directory?
Thanks in advance!
if the other phone is a win mobile too use pimbackup

I want to recover/back up messages to my computer from my dark X1 (lcd flex cable damaged no picture) but not sure how do I do it ?
I did sync everything possible from the phone using MS activesync to my laptop 's outlook and I get contacts, calendar, notes etc. but my messages are not there. On the phone outlook had a separate folder with messages. DOes the Activesync omit the messages folder ?
I chose to sync "all" in the time bracket options for email.
Is there any other way to get my messages back ?
I have asked this question in a couple of other related threads, no answer so far.
Anyways I know activesync won't copy the messages. I could use PIM if I had a functional phone but this X1 unfortunately is with screen-off mode
Anyone knows a way to get sms back from PC ?

Moving to Q&A
I can provide a solution to this: use PIM backup through the program called "My mobiler" that allows to use the phone through PC
(somebody else suggested this in another thread)
Hi all,
I am really tempted by the Nokia 8 and I'd like to get some more details.
Personally I prefer not to share with google my contacts, images, etc and I am not sure that with Nokia 8 it is possible since, If I understood right, it's a stock android.
So my questions are:
Is it possible to save my contacts, images and so on only on my phone without sync them with the google cloud?
If yes, is there a way to sync the phone with ms outlook and my desktop pc?
Thanks for your help

Yes, you can store contacts and images only on the phone. About Outlook syncing, Googling is your best friend. I would suspect that it's possible.

Thanks!
Good news then!
I googled for the "outlook sync" thing. So far, I did not find a solution but I keep searching.
I also looked for an app to backup contacts and the log of the calls to my pc (something like samsung "smart switch") but I did not find anything. I suspect that there's no such app (?)
