And then you completely contradicted yourself in your post. *facepalm*
Every day, someone out there gets a text from ATT saying there is an update for their phone and feels the need to post about it. Why? Because we're not running the build that they expect us to, so they think we need to update.
Move along, nothing to see here. This should be moved to general or better yet, deleted for redundancy.

If its anything like the last update, yup. May be available through kies as well. I would let some users report back first. Don't want to flash for nothing.

actually i got the message last night as well, and so did a lot of people i know....even though he did contradict his self with the title, AT&T still is sending out msgs to everyone

I tried the software Update -->> Check for Update
I tried the Check for Update today Dec 1st at 3pm EST and nothing... no updates from AT&T for my Captivate.
I have my Captivate still with the Stock 2.1 ROM, all I did was to root. I hope this will not stop or gives me problems with the Froyo 2.2 upgrade.
Does anyone have any good news yet ? any one ?
Thanks...

5$ says it's barely different from the froyo we have now. Hopefully they fixed the call buttons on the notification bar

Will check when I get hope but I had heard because of the problems with last OTA that 2.2 would be available through KIES mini.

Don't bother, I just checked JH7 is up to date.
Oh btw, the doesn't belong here!

Fwiw I got the same message last night as well. First time I've gotten one too.. Had the phone since early august. Never got the jh7 update, or a single message about it.

Have to wait till I get home when I have a steady connect to try again.

Change the title of this post... Even if you are excited.

Just tried at home still no go.

[Q] So its the 11th, anyone get the 2.3 OTA?

Waiting patiently for word on the Nexus One Gingerbread OTA
Same here.
If someone did get it we would probably now it from twitter already.
¿Wasn't that for developers phones only?
I guess we're still at 4-6 weeks of being able to update via OTA our non-developer phones.
i think it was just a rumor haha. i wouldnt run an over-the-air update anyways. wait for the devs to mod it up first.
So, any 'developer' get the gingerbread updates?
well... i am a registered developer, but i haven't developed anything yet
anyway, im running miui now, i think i don't even have the option to get an ota update
Isn't there plenty of talk about this over in the general Nexus One forum already?

Not that a quick search would turn up forum wide. Yes it was suspected to be Dev only,... and yes I believe even with a custom rom you should get the update notice, but it will not install just as 2.2 did.
There has never been an official release date, just rumours and speculation.
I would be amazed if 2.3 was released today.
If it doesn't come out at 11:11 AM forget it.

I understood "dev only" as the holiday phones.
Unless the ota keys are the same and still in the custom rom you won't get any notification.
If you have a dev account u should get the ota notice "when distributed"

Are you sure? Is that what happened with the FRF50 update? If not then I still think it will be holiday-phones only. I hope however that you are right.
How many of these threads do we need?!
Seriously people, the SDK isn't even out yet.
The OTA is not even close. STOP IT.
No, never enough... what ever it takes to be the first to have it!

It would be nice to have an ota 11/11/10, but I'll have to settle for Veterans Day instead!

LG Revolution Gingerbread Update Is Here!

After months of waiting, we have finally been rewarded with a upgrade to Gingerbread! The only information I could gather so far is through a reply to my post on the LG Forum. The current news it that it will be coming FOTA (Over The Air) starting Oct 27, and everyone should have it by Nov. 2. This is very promising!
Edit: it will be available at 9:00pm ET on Oct 28
Here is the link confirming it!

AWESOME!!!
NICE!! I am a little new to how this works...since revolt ROM "cancels" the update how do we go about getting it? Or do we just wait till someone makes a ROM based off of it?

[XT860] Bell Update Inevitable?

Just checked this thread...
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/63223
I think I'm going to sign up
looks good,
big update?
Good stuff. Hope to hear from them!
Doesn't it figure the day after i flash the brazil 2.3.5 FW this happens
Danifunker aren't you on the vivo FW
Beamed by invisible waves from my rooted xt860
Great news. Does make me wonder why they are so slow with it. Maybe they are going straight to ISC???
I'll do a full restore back to the Bell firmware, and let them know how it compares to the vivo firmware hehe

Considering their history I wouldn't get my hopes up too high.
Let's be happy if they finally manage to give us an update that adresses the known issues (battery/camera/keyboard). I'm only gonna believe it when I see it and am actually able to use it.

Just for understanding:
How will you be able to do that?
I thought someone tried this already on a different thread, the only ccaveat is that the radio code won't get reverted...
1) boot into CWR
2) Wipe/format system and data partition
3) perform full restore
If all that fails, in the worst case I'll just reflash bacck to the vivo (or maybe retail) SBF.
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
I'd argue that the update would merely be to 2.3.x where x > 4. Maybe the Brazil sbf already has the fixes and only thing they're testing is the bell carrier customizations.

I think you're right, but I'd rather be on the Bell one, I really like the background (it is embedded with the framework.apk and I can't really line it up the same way) as long as it works as good as the Brazil firmware... don't forget there is also some localization things as well that "would be nice" every so often I run into some portugeese on my device now.

I think he was arguing for the update being 2.3.x as opposed to 4.0 like another poster suggested. Highly unlikely IMO, but I would, of course, love to be proven wrong.

I know, I totally agree with him. I'd be suprised if it even went up to 2.3.5, I would guess they are concentrating more on the Blur stuff.
They are limiting the Beta to 100 testers, in reality, only one of us needs to get on that list and share the .sbf with the whole community =D

I don't think they are going to be sending out the SBF, probably just an EXE file, but we can all hope! I think we are all waiting for a reply back from them, but yes I agree with you fully!
Realistically, how many people do you think sign up for Motorola's betas? And who would you think sign up for them?
Given that the original topic on the Motorola forums has so few views, the chances of one or more XDA users getting into the beta is fairly high I reckon.

This is exactly how the first Verizon update was leaked, via a beta tester for their new firmware. When this beta get's leaked we'll all be able to flash back to bell, sbf or exe it, format wont matter. (It's only up to 120 views now)

Probably the bell, just given the older build.
See, this is what I don't understand. They branch their regional builds of their f/w... and then when they need to update the phones... that's many separate codebases that need to be updated. X.x

Were not getting ICS

I just read on drippler that the Bionic wasnt getting ICS.Is it true?
I doubt that's true. They wouldn't have gone through all the work of making some pretty good ics test builds that work better than the gingerbread builds just to scrap them.

Are you sure the article you read wasn't referring to unlocked bootloaders? That is something they did say that we're not getting. It doesn't mean that we're not getting ICS.

I've talked to Motorola and Verizon recently, while they pretty much talked around the fact that a published deadline had been missed, they both assured me the update is still in progress and would be out in this quarter (just not 'early' this quarter as that's past). Granted neither are to be trusted with any of this, but I'm pretty sure we will see it officially, eventually.
Get a leak if your desperate, wait for the official if your patient. Sad thing is I'll likely be in Canada using a Galaxy S3 by the time Motorola and Verizon get their s--t together. I'll get to use my Bionic on ICS during my visits over the border.

This, along with "ICS will be here next week" comes out 2 or 3 times a month.
Are you sure you weren't just skimming that article? It didn't say that ICS wasn't coming. It just said that carriers are notorious for missing deadlines and not giving a crap. It also said that leaks don't necessarily mean an update is imminent. Yada, yada, yada. Anyone, like me, that's been waiting for the official rollout figured that out awhile ago. Hopefully the official version will be pretty damn flawless.

[Q] WCX comparable ROM?

Hello everyone,
I dont post here very often mostly because I got the WCX Illuminati ROM a while back and I have been MORE than pleased with it. It is simply excellent. However I am going on vacation soon so I wanted to update my ROM as its pretty old now and WildChild has produced several updates since I last installed mine. I went to log into WildChild's forum for his ROMs and found that I cannot navigate to any of the forum. Its like the page has been shut down or something.
Does anyone know if he has shutdown or what the deal is?
And if so what ROMs for our phone offer similar functions to the Illuminati ROM? I dont want to downgrade if none of the others I have found arent as good. Just to be clear Im not asking if other roms are available Im not that much of a Noob lol. I found This Thread and a few other websites with other ROMs I just dont want to spend a week testing them if you all have proper feedback.
Thank you for any help! It will be greatly appreciated!
None come close to the WCX Sense ROMS. I tried porting some but dropped it because of compiling errors and lack of interest. You are probably better off staying with his or flashing stock. Sorry for the bad news but development here has pretty much stopped. Good luck

Well thats sad...
Is there at least any knowledge on what is the deal with his site? I thought he supported other devices as well its hard to imagine him just up and shutting down the whole site. Or maybe is there a way to contact him for his last release?
If all else fails though I guess I will just keep what I have and reset everything.

That is great news. Last I heard it sounded like August was a HUGE maybe. While it's good to see dev is still going on here for the Vivid there is nothing that runs as smooth or stable as WC's ROMS. The new CM MOD looks pretty promising but in the in call volume on the latest is still a deal breaker for me.
