Need some help trying to figure out how to make my Captivate turn on...I press power and get the AT&T slash screen and then the galaxy s logo loads for about 3 minutes and goes to blank dark screen with the capacitive buttons lit. this is not good because my **** won't boot into recovery either
You should flash to stock then...pull battery, hold volume buttons and plug in usb with odin loaded and ready on the computer. There's plenty of threads to help you out
Sent from my phone so excuse the spelling errors
Funnily enough... My phone just did that too. I was installing Mort Widget and it just totally bricked...
I'm rather p!ssed at this...
Course this was after it deleted all my email accounts and SMS.
What you'll need.
Odin (search or look in any of the ROM/Firmware threads, for example the i9000 ROM or unofficial JH2 or JH3 ROM)
Your USB cable.
The firmware files.
Steps:
Remove battery, SIM card and micro SD card.
Open Odin on the computer.
Put the battery back in.
Plug in the USB cable to the phone.
Hold both volume up and down.
With VOL up/down held in, plug usb cable to the computer.
Your phone will show the beloved DOWNLOADING yellow image.
Odin:
Simply select the rom/firmware you want to flash to and enjoy.
I can confirm this will not overwrite the phone's internal 16gb storage, which is where most apps save backups to.
Future steps:
Before trying anything crazy, copy the entire phone internal 16gb storage to your computer. If you brick, you can always get a new captivate, copy the junk back and run a restore.
I recommend Titanium backup (donate the $6, the backup/restore is SUPER SUPER fast) along with Clockwork recovery. Clockwork's Nandroid makes full kernel backups and you can boot to recovery from the phone itself. No more adb reboot download or adb reboot recovery.
sorry for my english i have a 19000m the one from bell my phone boot with the GALAXY S LOGO WITH THE MUSIC BUT AFTER THAT BLACK SCREEN CAN I REPAIR THAT ?
Yes, odin is about your only hope here... Even if you boot into the bios and try to do a factory reset it will come up with error after error...
Reflashing will totally wipe and start fresh.
I am curious however. I think i isolated where my problem came from but I am still curious...
Did you try to sideload anything?
It happened to me twice with Bell's Vibrant version. The first time, just after one week after getting it (not rooted). They simply gave me a brand new one.
The second one took 3 week to go dead. Knowing my way around Linux Embedded systems, this time I investigated the issue. In recovery mode, there were error messages saying that the system could not fine the internal flash memory partitions. I could confirm from the kernel messages that partitions on internal sdcard had disappeared. I did factory reset, reflash original stock firmware with Odin, but it did nothing.
I Sent the phone back for repair and three weeks later, they gave me another one (probably refurbished!!).
My phone just turns on, with a black screen and the capacitive buttons lit up. Nothing else happens. When I try to go into download mode, it only goes back to this black screen. I does however detect that the phone is connected driver wise on the computer, but does not show up in Hemidall or Odin. I've tried just about everything
i used ODIN to resotore the phont to stock

Does it light up or display anything and then go black, or does it just do nothing? If it does nothing, you're probably bricked, but try this anyway just in case your phone still has some life in it:
open Odin; press and hold both volume buttons and plug in your USB. If Odin lights up yellow, flash.
If that doesn't work, buy or build a jig, use it, and see if it goes into download mode. If it doesn't, plug the cable in anyway and see if Odin recognizes it. If it does, flash.
If that doesn't work, you're probably bricked. JTAG or Unbrickable Mod are your options from here, neither of which I personally know anything about but you can search around and find someone who can help you.
Hard Bricked= No signs of life, black screen no matter what, no response to USB plug in. Nothing but Unbrickable mod or JTAG will fix, I WOULD SUGGEST getting Unbrickable because you only have to get it once, and it cost the same as JTAG.
Soft Bricked= DL mode access is available(by jig or button combo and usb), recovery too, has some life in it. Can use ODIN/HEIMDALL to fix it.
when the flashing finsh and say done...and show the green light in the ODIN. the phone did not start up
dose this mean it break or dead charger?
as m not shure if the battery is full or not.
anyway i can pass the battery by over it with cuted USB cable?

If you got a green light, I would think it should at least turn on. However, if it was a successful flash, it should charge with the phone off. A bricked phone and a bad charger would both look the same: dead.
Try a different charger or battery if you think your battery could that dead. However if your battery died during your flash, that could also be the cause of your brick.
i charge the battery...and nothing happend
will the USB JAG solve it?
as i read in some post this will not
i need to send to some one to do it by opeing the phont it self

A jig is worth trying, but I suspect it will not solve your issue. You are correct, you need to send it to someone to have it fixed. Send a PM to AdamOutler or Connexion2005 and they can point you in the right direction.

You moto defy never flashed boot loaders since Motorola always had them locked down, and if you didn't know what you were doing flashing the stock Emma's that had boot loaders then it is not the phones fault. You should never really have to flash boot loaders and that is the ONLY risky part in flashing on these phones. Other than that Samsung cappys are almost TRUELY unbrickable (HARD BRICK) unless you mess up flashing boot loaders. WHICH YOU DID WHETHER YOU KNEW IT OR NOT BY FLASHING THE STOCK ODIN. SEND IT FOR UNBRICKABLE MOD, it is cheap repair and you WONT run into your same mistake ever again.

Hi everyone!
Here is the entire list of things I had done before I bricked it. Can some expert please read through and help me? I really need help!!
So as you can read from the title, this phone, the Galaxy Pop/Mini is bricked. It does not turn on at all, even if I press the power key only or the Power+home+vol.down. Needless to say, I have no download mode . The problem started after I flashed the PACman ROM, which didn't turn out that good, so I re-flashed the original firmware using ODIN. It said PASS, but then when it rebooted, the phone got a boot loop. It kept on rebooting again and again. As I have an Xperia Neo V as my primary device, this issue usually meant a wrong kernel to me. So I downloaded "Galpop_kernel_build2" and now when I press the power button or any of the combinations, the screen does not light up. There is no response.
So I tried the Heimdall One Click Unbrick, and it shows me this error:
Is Your Phone Plugged In?
Is It In Download/Softbrick Mode?
If the phone is Plugged In and Everything Is Fine,
Visit the Resolution Center in order to resolve the issue.
So I clicked on the button, it asked me to install 3 things, which I did, no luck. So I was finally going to give up, when I accidently pressed the volume up+ Power+ Home keys. Nothing happened on the screen, but when I connected it to my PC, Windows started installing some drivers! It went well, and even ODIN detected the phone (Yes, there was the Yellow Box), so I quickly tried to flash the original firmware, but it got stuck on "setup connection...". I read somewhere that this was a driver issue so I tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers, no luck.
So now, the phone does not turn on, but goes into this strange mode where it gets detected by ODIN, but cannot be flashed. I'm doomed! Can someone PLEASE HELP!!???

I did, I am on a different PC right now, installed all drivers etc. But I just realized... I think I might have flashed the Pop Plus kernel...
Since it is ultimately the low level OS, maybe that is preventing it from starting? Is there a way to forcefully flash a different kernel? :'(
Also, the strange mode that it used to go into is gone now.. I cannot make the PC recognize the phone at all now, and the phone does not power up. So I'm kinda in a doomed position right now..:crying:
The mistake was the kernel flashing. If something is not booiting you need to wipe data/cache. This works with stock ROM too.

I know, but the problem is, I cannot go into Download Mode or Recovery Mode. The battery is charged, but even after pressing the Power button or any of its combinations, the phone just doesn't turn on! No response what-so-ever.
Any suggestions?
Then no idea. I thought maybe you don't know where was the mistake so that's why I wrote it.

As I asked someone else too, how much do you think it would cost if I don't have the warranty papers right now? It still is in warranty though..
And what did you tell them that convinced them that you were innocent?
I also had a problem where i had to get my motherboard changed when i asked the samsung people they said it'll cost Rs. 4000 for changing the motherboard so it'll be better if you find your warranty papers and don't worry just tell them that the phone's not working don't tell them about the rom flash stuff they'll repair it for free if you have your warranty papers..

Is there a way to recover my phone? Please help!

Sorry.
I flashed PACman ROM to my phone.
Out of habit, I did Fix Permissions.
Since it was taking a long time and thought nothing would happen, I pulled out my battery, put it back in and started to reboot it.
It vibrated a little bit but there was no backlight and the Sony logo didn't appear.
I tried it again the same thing. I did it multiple times and it seems like the phone turns off at initialization.
I tried to use Fastboot and Flashboot modes by using the volume rockers but the LED just blinked and turned off.

Unless you bought second hand then it wasn't.
Repair your phone using PCCompanion.
Hey, guys. I've had my phone bricked for about half a year now and was wondering if you could help me out finding a solution.
So, the brick happened after trying to install Resurrection Remix on it and a reboot after that basically lobotomized the phone. Since you can still see the Android One logo but only though a flash light and it cannot go brother into fastboot mode or into recovery. There's no RR boot logo or vibration at the Android One logo.
I've included a video of how it looks like.
Any ideas what I should try?

No luck there. I've tried to get something out of it but it never gets anything on the PC at that stage when it was alive as well.
I am wondering if it's just a problem with the motherboard but maybe it's some kind of power delivery issue because there is no light coming from the screen.

There are some chances to turn some devices ON by charging, which are with dead batteries due to boot looping.
If the display is broken, time to go to a service centre.

If you didn't resize, delete or replace partitions of your device, that brick can't be that bad at all. The problem what i see is your battery is dead. That's why i told you to charge it for couple of hours even the display isn't working. In my experiences, i've seen such devices which doesn't show the charging screen but charging silently.
