I've had my HD7 reboot twice now and both times I've had wifi on to do wireless sync. Seems like after several hours the HD7 will reboot itself, could it be due to the heat generated while wifi is on? Anyone else having any reboots find the same pattern?
My desire which I think had the same processor was also prone to the occasional auto reboot, there may be something in your idea
Mine is with this problem, it started after a crash while using the camera. Now on, i can barelly play on him. Anything that requires large use of processor causes loop reboot, so i need to take of battery and wait some minutes so i can power on again. That's Sad. Tried even a restore but didn't work.
I had this problem until I updated to NoDo. Since then the phone doesn't reboot itself any more. Have had some good system uptime values of 15 days or more, System Information app will show this for you.
i see, now i can barelly use my apps, if it forces a little bit the processor, it freezes and keep rebooting until i remove the battery and wait a little. Sad

Hello,
I confirm flashing the WP7 using the NODO version will solve the reboot issue.
Cheers.

why you have to flash nodo today?
is better to find what cause the reboot.
Also my phone restart, i have the deppshining 7.7 rom , latest tango, it reboot after few minutes.
when it's hot...
the reboot isnot casually, the phone restart itself when is too hot.
if used to see a video or play, it reboot after very few minutes, if not in few seconds!
if ther'is no way to underclock the cpu, the other way is t make an heatsink for this phone.
have someone the schema to see where the cpu is located?

very good link, thank you!
i see the cpu is on back of bottom mainboard. do you know how to make an heatsink without damage other parts?
i not have a professional solder station, only simple tools as a torx, cutter, and other.
the problem is that my phone need to be reballing bga but is too muche risky and expensive, so i prefer to make an heatsink to stay cool and work.

Don't know if this is a new problem or a different appearance for a common problem, but my kaiser has taken to switching off when I browse the web (on battery). On charger it's fine and I'm posting like that now.
I'll start at the beginning
For Most Web Browsing I Use Opera 9.51 Beta 15894 over the last fed weeks I had recieved a number of low space warnings and removed various programs to try and resolve it without success. I went to check the size of Opera's cache and found the Application data/Opera 9.5 Beta folder was full of Corrupted files marked at sizes ranging from 18Kb to 1.3Gb (unlikely since the drive is only 256Mb)
I tried various routes to delete these files, booting into safemode, downloading scandisk style tools (which despite advertising only scanned/repaired mmory cards.) In the end I simply renamed the folder and recreated the original Opera folder.
Since then, if I'm using the internet whilst not plugged in, the phone will turn off after 15 minutes. The browser in use doesn't matter what browser is in use (opera and skyfire have both done it)
Sometimes it then has dificulty turning back on, reaching the Windows Mobile Screen and shutting back down. But if you wait a few minutes it will turn on fully.
In some cases the battery is still full and can go a whole day of idling/using apps/making calls and texting without problems but will shut down again on using a web browser.
I'm usually quite good at isolating problems, but this has me stumped at first I though an Opera bug or Virus, but skyfire ruled out the former and I can't find any information on the existence of the latter. Does anyone have ideas/suggestions?
I don't understand why it only shuts down on battery power, that's a strange one, but I guess the first thing to do is sort your low memory problem.
Have you tried clearTemp?
http://mobisapienz.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=82&task=finish&cid=50&catid=12
This attached cab can let you have a look at what is taking up space.
Have you considered backing up and hard reseting?? That sorts out every problem!
At first I thought it was a battery/charging issue - which Opera certainly does affect. If I leave Opera running in the foreground during a charging cycle then a charge won't last more than a few hours - I think the browser regularly does refreshes powering everything on and using almost as much power as it's getting in to it. But the fact in this case that after finally getting it turned back on I have enough power to go the whole day suggests it's not that.
I saw the link for these utilities earlier today and will take a shot at using them. I worry however that these corrupted files showing a size in the Gb range may throw everything off and I won't find the real culprits.
With my two previous phones (HTC Wizard and Nokia 9300) Hard Resets left me with no end of problems - so whilst I have it in my mind it will be the very very last resort.
Well I hope one of the programs helps you find the problem.
As far as hard reseting goes, it should put your phone back to normal with everything cleared!? - a fresh start!!
If I didn't flash new ROMs so often I'd do this regularly anyway just to stop the phone lagging etc....
Before I hard reset I always think "if my phone got stolen what would I be gutted about losing" - I back those up and get it done!
I'm sure you can find some free backup software on a search, PIM backup is the obvious one.....
Good luck.
i had a siemens phone some years back that had a similar problem. when connected with a pc using a special data cable connection to the rs232 port and trying to sync, the screen dimmed and after a few seconds, the phone died
problem was, the battery was not charged when connected and was way to old and damaged and unable to handle the power consumption caused by the sync. the phone worked fine with a new battery.

@Operative1
I was thinking the same, especially when it started happening during phonecalls as well.
However yesterday I found that the file corruption problem had spread affecting several other apps as well as Opera. Pocket player was the worst affected.
So I went for a Backup and Hard Reset and it went off without incident. I've been intermitently testing Opera this morning and it hasn't done it yet.
I'm also know the corruption was affecting my registry, so I'm wondering if it was also affecting the charging/power management software.
I'll keep monitoring and report back if it re-appears.
Phone Shuts down when browsing web
Has anyone found out a solution to this or have any suggestions?? I am having the same exact problem. When browsing the web no matter what browser i use the phone will randomly shut off... Not a reset it just shuts off.. and u turn it back on by pushing the power button and it starts like normal. but if u go to surf the web again it will shut off..
This problem is very irritating.. I've tried flashing different roms.. hard resets.. etc.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!!

Mine has now spread and affects everything, phone calls, texts, last night it went using Pocket Player. I've been considering fully discharging and recharging the battery but these intermittent cut-outs don't allow it to fully discharge.
I'm going to be buying a new battery soon in hopes it fixes it.

8 hours in with the new battery and no problems. I've upgraded to a 2600mA one so I'm hoping the extra life will allow me a full charge/discharge cycle to prevent it happening again. I'll also be disabling charging duuuring internet connection sharing.
Sweet so no more turning off while browsing the web??? Where did you get your battery from?? Thanks!
A new battery would be the only fix for this. I had the same problem a while back with mine and I took a volt meter to the old battery and at full charge it was only out 3.6~V instead of the 4.2 so when something like a data connection was going the phone didn't have enough power to stay on and it shut off. it got so bad at one point that I couldn't even boot the phone without plugging it in.

i try 'clear storage' in the settings, put 1234, after that i install the HardSPL, put a new room and new radio version.
hard reset its different?
how i do this?
sorry for the question, when i install a new room i do a hard reset follow this steps:
d. NOTE: After you flash the ROM, when you get to the whole "Please tap the
screen to begin setting up your Windows-Mobile based device", hard reset by
holding down the two soft keys while pushing the stylus into the reset hole.
You should get to a white-colored screen. Just follow the directions on that
screen and then reboot. This fixes many issues, and is also known to make your ROM perform at 100%.
my last choise is buy a new battery!
travelingsurfer, the battery do you buy is 1600mah?
i question this because my frind have a kaiser and i change my battery with him, but my problem not solved!
I replaced it with the exact same brand/model that was in there to begin with. it is 1350mah
Once I can get it to turn on all the way again, i'm going to backup everything and try the hard reset.
Hello everyone,
I've been experiencing a quite annoying problem with my Nexus. Once and a while, especially when the battery is fully charged, my N1 decides to freeze while locked, and the only way for me to reboot it is to take the battery out, put it back in and turn the phone on again. The problem is it happens 2 or 3 times a day, and most of the times I don't even realize for a while. It's like it just turns off by itself.
I'm running CyanogenMod 6.0.0 and kernel 2.6.35.4-CFS-intersectR root raven-lx #1 , in case it helps with finding a solution.
Has anyone had the same problem? Or heard about it?
Let me know if you can help me!
Thanks

I think you can reboot your phone by pressing POWER+VOL DOWN+TRACK BALL at the same time.
It sounds like it is the kernel that is causing it, I had Pershoots 2.35 kernel causing reboots, and a hot phone. I went back to the stock 2.32 kernel, because I decided the 115 extra mhz on the processor is not worth added bugs.
Hi all,
I bought my hd7 on thursday and have been using it fairly heavily since.
I have noticed however that it will on occasion reboot itself, at seemingly random occurences. It has done this maybe 3 or 4 times.
On two occasions I've also found that the volume would (without my input), set itself to full volume or no volume. This wouldn't be instantaneous, but more like the volume button being held down one way or the other. On both occasions this resolved itself after around 10 - 15 seconds.
Should I chalk this up to the software (which can hopefully be resolved in due course) or do you think its faulty hardware?
Other than this, I am loving the phone.
Cheers.
Hmmm, im haviing the same problems, i dont get it, also when i open a tile i.e, Marketplace it will load and then just go back to the start screeen :\, anyone know how to fix this bug ?
So I'm not the only one. That would suggest that its not just a one-off faulty handset. At a guess I'd say the software was just a little rough around the edges.
If it is the software, hopefully Microsoft will be able to fix these things and improve overall stability with future updates. This is the trade off for getting things at release I suppose.
Aside from these minor issues (they've only happened maybe once a day with heavy use) the OS is silky smooth. If they are the only problems, I can live with them until the next update.
Mine phone randomly re-booted the other night, I hope that it's just software related.
I got mine on thursday too, mine's reset itself once or twice. Today I had a weird bug though. The battery was quite low, about 10%, and I called my friend and I could hear her, but she couldn't hear me. She called back - same thing. I tried calling someone else and still the same. I turned the phone off and back on again and everything was back to normal. I thought it was all very strange. Can anyone confirm whether that was a hardware or software fault? Or is it nothing to worry about? (I did check the in-call volume/mute settings!)
cheers
Yep me too, has rebooted a few times when trying to do multiple things at once eg when receiving a text and updating hotmail. 6 or 7 times since thursday, with a couple occasions where I took it out my pocket and it was on the sim pin request screen meaning it had rebooted for now reason and I didn't know :-(
Anyone loaded the generic RUU yet?

I also have this problem! I'd be using either zune(selecting a song) or marketing place(browsing apps) and it will crash and go to the home screen. When i try and re-launch the apps, they saying "loading" and just returns to the home screen.
I hope this is a software bug rather than a fault with my HD7

Yeah.bought hd7 last week.having the same problem
I am an Omnia 7 owner, and there's been no random reboot.
But, I am getting the thing where if the marketplace gets stuck loading something, I exit and then can't get back in.
On touch of the tile it just says loading and returns to home, needs reboot.

+1, thank goodness im not alone with this issue. My HD7 doesn't randomly reboot either, its just a problem with marketplace and zune crashing and then not run again until i manually reboot the device.
Seems to be a common issue. I've raised this in the microsoft windows phone 7 forum, i'll update what they come back with.
having the same reboot issues and also apps closing themselves on my german o2 hd7 ..

also have had same problem as others here with market place and jumping back to main screen
glad its not my phone, hope updates come soon, having a phone with unreliable volume aint so hot!

Let me lay it down for you:
Microsoft decided to enter the mobile market with a new OS.
Microsoft laid down the minimum requirements for their OS that the hardware manufacturers must meet.
Microsoft designed all aspects of the OS, including the drivers for the hardware.
So now you're telling me that HTC decided to go grab the OS, and install on their device packed with electronics around the globe without MS knowing and approving it?
One thing when you load your own environment like Sense or TouchWiz on the phone and you are responsible for it functioning, and providing user access to the OS, and another when you cannot do any of it, because the whole OS is closed, and you are told you must use this .dll with these options, and no you cannot know why and how how it does it.
Hi guys. My SGN is permanently freezing while booting. Suddenly the red lines appear and phone is stucked. It stucks on boot logo, or boot animation, or after successfull boot into system. It looks like this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61718936/IMAG0003.jpg
Phone becomes quite hot on the back near camera.
I bought phone with stock 2.3.6. It was running for about 2 hours and i made OTA update to 4.0.4. It started to reboot itself while i was using it. So thought, i might use custom ROM to get rid of this freezes and reboots. But no change. Even on 4.2.1. I reverted back to 2.3.6. I noticed, that these red lines changes and moves (or even whole screen becomes red) while i'm twisting or pressing phone on various places. So i think, there is cold solder joint somewhere on motherboard. Maybe on graphic chip, because i didn't notice this problem while in recovery or download mode.
Can anybody help me with this problem, or point me on right place to look at on motherboard? Thanks in advance.
Seems to be defective device. Check with service center.

If you're able to, run this app to check for errors, I take it you have root. If it crashes mid scan, you've got problems with your emmc.

Frozen Note
I hope you will find a solution for your problem.
But I have to admit I had to smile ("grinsen" in German is a much better word for it) when I saw your title:
Freezing even when >30°C
i'm not able to run device anymore but i already tried this app for checking emmc and this is the one with that bug. But it doesn't matter, because i was flashing only safe kernels, and i don't think this emmc is problem. I think the culprit is graphic chip, or CPU, or CfRF (Chip for Random Freezes)
I was not able to find any similar problem. Tomorrow, i will try to put device into download mode, flash any custom safe kernel with CWM, leave device in this recovery, and see if it freezes again. If yes, the only option is to get device warmer for a few degrees (300-350°C with my heat station haha ) and i will see if there was any cold solder joint. If not, device will be dead anyway so i have nothing to lose

guys i've made a small progress. I put a pressure on back side of the phone near camera, and i turned the phone on. It successfully booted to system. When i stopped pushing phones back, red lines appeared immediately and phone freezed. When i start to twist phone in hands, lines were getting bigger or smaller. When i pressed the back cover again, lines disappear (but phone was still frozen).
So now my task is, to find out, which chip is badly soldered.

You guys started having strange issues with ur notes. Maybe its something like a self destruct programmed on your phones so that after a year or two people will switch their phones. Besides the bigger the phones are getting the more issues they are having.
A phone should be like a device that shouod work flawless, in case of emergency one is needing to make a call and found that the phone freezed.
Sometimes i blame everything to android. Despite years of open development. Its yet not stabilizing, i guess because of it being open source vendors are putting crap in it making it more vulnerable to issues.
I dont rely on android rather i use a cheap phone for calls and text or iphone. Its just good for internet, ebooks, movies, music and camera.

Try pulling out the battery and then let the phone dry like a pair of wet socks. Clean the contacts and fit any loose thing that there may be.
Check your cable, if is loose or not, this way you could find if there were any unwanted sparks applied on the device.
Notice how it gets hot when is plugged in and you're using it? the battery reaches quickly 55 degrees which is not optimum, wait to cool to below this temperature.
My condolences in this sad event. Take care.
At least I think this is. I have recently moved from stock to Asylum's CM10.1 but did flash a known safe kernel before any wifing occurred so I do not think this is the standard EMMC bricking.
The onset of this was gradual - phone reboobed itself a couple of times (that I noticed) but this was no huge deal for me, then a few days later the screen digitizer stopped working and I had to take the battery out - from there it degenerated fairly rapidly with more reboobs, more often returning with the digitizer not functioning and finally it is at the point where it will not boot - stuck at the loading logo.
I can reboot into recovery (CWM 6.0.3.2) but can't do a lot there - fleshing a new ROM errors out saying the package is invalid or crashes (often with a brief flickering of the screen in either case).
I can run through hg42s partition scanner - if it completes it does so without report a problem otherwise it crashes, it's about 50/50 which although it seems more reliable if mains power is connected.
If I leave the phone in CWM it will eventually reboob itself after a few minutes.
I haven't seen any magic smoke escape.
I never experienced the EMMC brick so I don't know if it was progressive as this seems to be but I get the impression it was not - and I can't rule out the same sort of problem even if the original cause is different but at the moment I am unsure about the best way to progess - I will at some point pop over to Samsung's store but ideally I'd want to get to the bottom of this with the help of the community.
So any ideas? Does this sound like a corrupt partition somewhere? Thermal sensors triggering shutdowns when they shouldn't?
interesting, try to catch the evnts in the logs, use elixer/logcat/android tuner for that.
Check the battery dude.

I was outside when faced such a big problem. It was happening before like reboobs and stucks on logo. But after i took out the battery for 15 min I was able to boot the phone.
However, eventually, one day phone got stuck with a flickering screen and then it never booted. Tired nandroid restore. Did not help. Changed kernels etc. It was no good either. Then I changed battery. Did not work again Then made a factory reset. It worked. Using it without any problem now. But even at that time I was able to see my files in the phone via Qadb. This could be your case as well.
Try changing battery if it is older than 9 months. Make a full pit fresh Stock install.
Then Reboot. I hope t will work

Yup. This was indeed the problem - new battery in and after a few repeats of the same behaviour it kicked into life and has been fine since.
Thank heavens for replaceable batteries.
