I have I9000DTJG4, some forums said there is froyo upgrade via kies, but my one still doesn't have. Tried to upgrade more than 4 different ROMs which I downloaded from samfirmware.com, but none of them is working. I have tried I9000XWJPA, I9000DTJP5, I9000DXJPA, I9000ZSJP3, I9000XFJP7, I9000XWJM8. Most of them get "Pass" in ODIN, but couldn't pass boot screen. Not sure why.
Found one customer ROM from www.Hiapk.com which is based on I9000XWJP6. It's working, but some of the feature I don't like. For example, there is no vibration on-off under messaging setting, only has on-off for the whole handset. I even tried stock I9000XWJP6, but still same result as other stock ROMs.
Could someone help me? Which froyo can i flash to my I9000DTJG4?
Look at DocRom in the development section.. If u want official froyo then, DTJP5 is the official one from kies

BTW ... which Doc's ROM BUJP8, JPA or JPO ?
I9000DTJP5 is the one you need. I did the following First flashed I9000XWJM8 with RE-Partition and 512.pit. Than I9000DTJP5 without RE-Partion no pit. I did a factory reset before and after flashing.

Thank you very much for these info. I did tried to flash to I9000XWJM8, but it won't pass the boot screen after flash rebooting. It comes up the animation with the sound, then it just stays there.
Also I have tried to flash DTJP5 directly, the result was same as flashing I9000XWJM8.
Not sure what's the problem.

Hi guys i searched for other threds before making this one but none of them had download mode working
i tried flashing jpy and jpx with odin using the 512 and the 813 pit files, my problem is that after showing the sgs screen(really effing loud) the screen goes dark and vibrates in a pattern that goes like ........1....2................1...2...........1............2 and repeats, i can accces both the download and recovery modes
Extra maybe important info:
came eclair jm4 flashed with kies then from jm7 i think with the bujp5 modem(the vodafone one) tried to flash jpy & jpx still stuck on darkscreen
in odin i only had the pit+pda checked with repartition, autoreboot and f.reset time ticked. Did i miss something?
I also tried to flash jpo, no dice.
Try to flash an other firmware (2.1)
Take it from samfirmware
They supply 3in1 packages that need to be put in only pda
Use pit 512
Repartition
If that worked, then try a 2.2(.1)

Ok that worked booted up perfectly fine but....I retried flashing jpy and I keep getting the damm dark screen could the file be corrupted or something? Also don't know if this is normal but after flashing I always get booted up in recovery that didn't happen when on kies again don't know if this is normal

Where did you get jpy from? I got mine from samfirmware and had no dramas. Went from jm8 to jpy you could always flash a 2e recovery kernel cf root for example then install cwm so you can install custom jpy roms..i use darkys and love it
Got it working : D For any future reference flash jm8 with repartition on then jpy with repartition off...
on another note what do I do when I already have jpy working and want a clean instal of it plus different modem and kernel? (repartition on/off, do I use any pit files ?
Happy new year
can someone please tell me where to get these files from?
i've searched but keep getting the wrong pit or stock firmware..
i'm a noob and i'm confused, excuse me of my ignorance but i've tried sooo much lol
btw i have a bell I9000M which i think is my problem.. help
Does anybody know the difference between the two XWJS5 firmwares?
Difference...
Yes. The previous one is for Heimdall and the new one is for Odin.
As I saw.
I have heard that the new one contains a bootloader update.
I don't know if its true tho.

Previous JS5 was an update flash (1 file), this one is a FULL Rom (3 file, 242mb). The same difference between JS3 and XEN JS3.
Anyway it shouldn't be 803 .pit. To recover from experimental partitioning I use JS3-full (which is tagged as 803) with 512.pit since 803 doesn't work for me.

Thanks for that ! I'm trying to install these JS5 since yesterday with .pit 803 without success : mount problem at reboot after odin success, formating in recovery doesn't work and updating couldn't been done by new rom (vibrate loop reboot).
Changing to 512 .pit seems to solve this problem : my phone just restarts on JS5 now !

Confirmed there are a bootloader and a Sbl file, even though those are likely the same of those included in the previous XEN JS3. I'll make a checksum to verify
UPDATE: there is no update in this new XEN JS5, md5sum for boot.bin is identical to the one bundled within XEN JS3

guys please let me understand.... so why you are speaking about .512 and .803 .pit?
Using odin with last rom js5 from samsungfirmware I have to select just one file in pda tab, whitout .pit file.
what's wrong in my flashing way?
Be careful on updating. Double check the bootloader and Sbl.bin. We don't want the sgs to be locked, like the galaxy tab.

.pit file is used to flash the full rom (phone + modem + csc) with re-partition flagged, basically the pit file tells odin where to write the filesystems.
Whenever you have just one file (phone), you don't need either pit or re-partition flag. This last XEN JS5 is a FULL rom.

Just for clarify it, Samsung's 'locked' bootloader on Galaxy Tab is not the problem about download mode... The signed bootloader also allow flashing the device later... The problem is just about the files what you can use... With Samsung's signed bootloader you can flash in the future just also signed kernels, you basically you willl not able to flash custom ROM-s in the future... You can flash firmwares with Odin, you can flash Samsung beta firmwares also, just simply could not flash custom ROM-s... This could be big problem or verly small also based on your usage habit. While I use 2.2.1 I simply not use custom ROM-s, but of course before I used... Nowadays 'signed' situations could not break my life with i9000, but with Galaxy Tab it could ... at least in the near future, as it's ROM not as good as the current i9000 versions...

Thanks for explaining this ! But I couldn't understand why you couldn't donwgrade to a non-locked bootloader with Odin ? Don't have access to it ? But without access to it it couldn't be modified with latest Samsung FW via Odin ?
Hi
Still not patched to fixed.
for me it is interesting too why it is so messy about downgrade, could someone just wipe bootloader and force flash older back?
when i flash this i cant get the swedish keyboard in my phone
any ideas on this ist this the european ver i reverted back to I9000XWJM5 i kies tells me there is no update
Sorry one is not hiedemell both are odin one is full 3 file package which requires 803 pit file and other is single pda file flashable without pit or repartition from any previous stock rom

did you check the partition option? is the firmware a .tar file?
Yes it is a .tar file and I tried both check and uncheck repartition.
Can you start your tab or is it stuck on the phone and pc picture?
Two things possible: protected bootloader, or corrupt file being flashed.
Go to Roto JME rom in the development forum and follow all those steps, using all those files to fix your tab.
Don't worry too much - what you are experiencing happens to many people - it happened five times to me yesterday while I was trying new things.
All the middle eastren firmwares seem not to work on my TAB, I flashed it with the latest european firmware and now it works.
There is a middle east rom floating around. I thought it was equal to JMI.
I dont know where to start, but my phone was fascinating before updating do darky 9.2
I tried to install Voodoo, Speedmod, Ryan,...format sd card...ect but...my phone is still nearly dying.
My phone could currently be turned on and work freezingly and unresponsively in Eclair version (and able to access to Download mode), but whenever I tried upgrade it to 2.2 or 2.21 (so many versions tried from JP2 - JPY and JXS5) my phone cant not be booted at SamSung Galaxy S I9000 screen and Recovery Mode is blocked (but not the Download Mode).
Have anyone of you experienced it before and found any solution to fix it...PLZ share, plz help.
THanks
right dont panic, download something like JM8 with PIT
flash it thru odin with re-partition and that should do the trick
then upgrade to something newer.
im at JM8 right now (same as last 2 weeks) with unresponsive screen. Try to upgrade to jpo, jpy, jp2...but all failed (cant not boot at froyo)
and did you have all the 3 files and PIT ?? if so what PIT was you using ?? and did you check re partition ??
Wipe the lot install Eclair via Odin see if it fixes your problem then upgrade .
jje
Flash Jm8 with Pit 512 repartition checked.
->>> Working but freezing...completely freezing
Flash again with JPO (1file) no pit, repartition unchecked
-->> Cant boot
Flash back again Jm8 with Pit 512 repartition checked
-> Working and more freezing
Flash JPY -> cant boot
Tried like all the stock roms with the same procedure but...just getting lost
thanks
Yet another post of this ...wow.

I messed up my Bell SGS playing with odin.
Lost the 3 button options and ended up hacking a jig to get it into DL mode. done
Goal - a Functioning phone. Now what?
Thinking I should odin the I9000M_JL2_JL2_JL2_JL2_UG_BMC.tar.
But with or without repartition?
Can I use any 512pit?
I think repartitioning is where i messed it up.
Now all of this happened because I wanted seeARMS.JL2.v0.4 but couldn't update with the <3e> recovery mode.
Knowing that seeArms is my second (first?) goal, is there a different firmware I should flash something other than BMC to give me back update functions, but stable to resuscitate my phone?
There's ages of material here and I don't want brick my phone or waste time, I've done enough of that by myself.. now I'm looking for some expert opinion.
thanks

I have a 512.pit from a beta 2.2 , are they different?

Download a full firmware for your model and locale (with dbdata in it) and flash it with repartition with the pit proposed (samfirmware.com) then, I believe, you will have a full functioning phone. If everything is ok, then flash ... whatever.
It's Alive! - Can't mount /dev/block/stl10 fixed.
Hey All,
Got it all working again.
Repaired: Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
the fix: A full firmware (pda/csc/phone/pit) flash w/repartition.
Flashed w/repartition - I9000XXJP2.7p. (the only FULL firmware I had on-hand)
on reboot the system does a media check and was successful in reformatting and mounting the internal SD.
Phone didn't like the ROM and still logo of death, but..
A quick Jig into Download Mode..
Flashed I9000UGJL2_homebinary_add_param.tar with no repartition
(can't remember if I used .pit).
And Success!! my phone is alive and running 2.2
Thanks for the help, and hopefully this thread can help others.

Yes, do this. For repartition to work the .tar has to have dbdata.rfs, otherwise it won't work.
Then flash a speedmod kernel with odin for root/cwm and flash you're favourite custom rom
unlock&root owngrade or speedmod kernel? suggestions?
Forgot to mention that all this started after I got the phone back from Bell service after SD card failure.
I know mod methods changed with the latest firmware, as I had used the update.zip method that is now unavailable.
My phone went in unlocked and rooted
the phone came back re-locked (old code doesn't work? wtf?),
and it was unrooted w/3e recovery
Can the phone unlock code change?
Will downgrading to 2.1 make unlocking easier?
or is unlocking just as simple after a speedmod kernel with odin for root/cwm
Which is better?
downgrade the firmware to 2.1 and root using the old update.zip method or speedmod kernel?
Which kernel? (link please )
cheers

You know what....I've been trying various combinations of CSC/MODEM/PIT and everything to get this phone running again.
All I did was select a FULL UGJL2, and thats IT. NO pit, NO repartition, and it worked
The best way to revive your I9000m is to first flash JPC (a three file ROM) with 512 PIT and repartition ticked. The phone will still be in a boot loop. Then flash the JL2 PDA without repartition or PIT. The best way to go back to stock! Has always worked for me. I9000m's are not the same as other I9000's and do not flash repartition and the PDA in the same flash! Good luck!
