Just also posted a q in the general section regarding some real issues a friend of mine is having with his Legend. He lost all signals last night and this morning I tried: soft reboot, hard reboot, and factory reset. Now stuck in boot loop. Was stock 2.1 from Bell and was not rooted. Cant seem to do anything with it.
Was wondering if there are any repair tools or threads with stock ROMs floating around that I can try flashing back to the phone. Ive had a couple of android phones so im no stranger to abd, fastboot, etc... This is his only phone so if anyone could help at all it would be sincerely appreciated.

edit.. heres the info I got in recovery mode:
HBOOT-0.43.003
RADIO-7.08.35.05
Find an appropriate RUU
Get the Bell RUU and plug the phone into your computer in the fastboot screen (power + back button OR volume down)
Then run the RUU.

Help me please.
I had a HTC Dream I guess, flashed it with wrong ROM, which was made for HTC Hero.
From then on, the phone just doesn't work
1. I tried the recovery mode and reboot mode (Home + Power), (Home + Back) as well as Home + Camera. Nothing Works. It's still stuck at the startup screen <Black background shows white text says G1 T-Mobile.>
2. I tried pulling out the battery and put it back and tried to power it up. I retried the above step. Still the same.
3. I tried pulling out the SD Card as well and tried to power it up and retried the step # 1. Still the same.
I did try searching for similar posts but there are way too many and I have been digging them for the past 4 hours but couldn't find anything useful
Guys, Please share if anyone has any idea.
Thanks in advance
Steven
If home+power and camera+power don't work your phone is bricked.
also, post this in Q&A. this is either gonna get locked or moved.
and yes you are bricked.
You may not be bricked if you did not flash special spl or new radio, however, you will probably need fastboot/adb method.
Try searching, this has been addressed many times. Also try posting in right place next time too, although it will be a while since you've been a member since 2006 but this is your first post.

What he said, but flashing a theme shouldnt brick your phone, only flashing an SPL or radio or something along those lines typically.
I need help. I've searched but can't find a situation similar.
I have a friend's phone that apparently was rooted at some point. The phone is in a boot loop at the Hero screen.
I tried booting into recovery only to find it won't load into recovery mode. It gives, what looks to me, the stock recovery screen with the triangle and phone and then does nothing.
I then tried to boot into the fastboot mode by holding the camera + power button and flashing the rc29 update. This did not work. It keeps saying the update failed.
The phone has been flashed with the Danger SPL from what I see.
I'm not experienced enough with the Danger SPL besides essentially what it does and how to flash it. My question is what can I/Do I flash from fast boot mode to wipe and install new firmware on to the phone with the Danger SPL on there. Will the SPL effect trying to install anything else? I also can not boot into recovery mode either.
Please point me in the right direction and understand what is going on and how I fix it.
If anyone still wants to put in input then great, but after a few days of searching and posting this thread up I stumbled upon a thread in cyanogen's forums.
For archivals sake if anyone needs this the web address is hhttp://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?/forum/2-htc-dream-htc-magic/page__prune_day__100__sort_by__Z-A__sort_key__last_post__topicfilter__all__st__60
in short in involves installing the android sdk and pushing the recovery image through to the phone via the sdk and flashing the phone like normal from there.
I'm gonna try it and see what happens and post back if by chance I remember and it works.
Ok so I have an unlocked Nexus One that I rooted when I first got the phone 6 months ago. I've been running CM6 no problems at all, everything has been great.
Heres where my problem starts I decided to flash the stock frf91 image onto the phone and did not check superuser permissions or whatever option they gave me before i did it. I was doing this because I thought I was selling my phone. Now I'm not and want to go back to CM6.
The problem is I cant get into recovery at all I get the error with the ! in a triangle with android standing next to it. I've searched everywhere and tried everything. Fastboot and ADB gives me errors like waiting for device (even though my drivers are up to date and it recognizes the phone?) or status failed too many links.
I tried doing a backup from my nandroid information through my nandroid backups on my computer (aka pulling system.img etc) I tried going through the terminal but Im getting denied superuser permissions.
Im just not sure where to go from here ive looked through so many articles and threads and posts and im very confused.
After I flashed the stock image I thought i would still be able to boot into recovery but i guess i dont have recovery? I try to flash the recovery but with no avail.
Anyone have any advice or even just somewhere to start I would really appreciate it. Thanks
When u flashed the stock rom it wasnt a rooted version so u have the stock recovery search for how to root the stock Rom once rooted u can put a custom recovery on there hope this helps
The procedures for the different handsets kind of blur together in my memory, so just want to check.
When you booted into recovery and got the "!" screen with the android did you try holding either the volume up, or volume down key <along with the power button> to bring up the menu?
The ! With the Android is the stock recovery image if I remember correctly if u press the power button the menu should pop up
So I have my new Rogers Captivate for 2 weeks and I decide I would like to flash a Custom ROM onto it. I duly search the forums, reading the stickies and things like that.
I find the guide on how to flash Custom ROMS with videos, decide following these will be my best guide. So I download the ODIN one click as told, get the phone into download mode and flash it back to stock as the video showed me. Though this completed successfully, I ended up with an AT&T boot loop after it was done with my button combo to access download mode broken. So after I do some more searching on the forum, I find out this is not an uncommon problem. The solution is to make or buy a USB Jig. So I order a USB Jig off eBay. Guy I bought it from was great, shipped it out to me and it arrived today. I get it, pop it in and bam. Phone goes into download mode.
Next I follow the instructions a few other Canadian Captivate Owners have posted and flash it back to Rogers 2.1 Stock with Odin 1.3 and no pit file. I still get the AT&T logo on boot but it gets past it now. Goes to the I896 boot screen, then the Animated Samsung Bootscreen, then to the Rogers Boot screen with the dots moving on the bottom. I am patient and wait a bit. It finishes with that and then goes to a completely black screen. At first I thought the phone as off, but I touched the buttons on the bottom and they light up. They stay lit up as well.
Thinking something has gone wrong, I reflash it again. Same thing happens. I try flashing the same ROM with a pit file from the Odin download. Same thing happens again. Nothing but a black screen and the buttons lit up.
I am at a loss as to what to do next, as I have searched the forums and not found a good answer for this problem. Should I try flashing a new stock ROM onto it? What is my next move here?
Phone:
Rogers Captivate 10.10
ROM currently installed:
I896UXJI2-homebinary.tar
*EDIT*
Nevermind, I managed to fix it. I had the AIO Captivate Tools 2.6 (Rogers) installed and after the phone booted it dutifully reported that it was in debugging mode. So I selected load custom ROM and selected Firefly 2.3. It goes through its thing and clockwork recovery installs. I select to install the ROM.zip AIO Tools copied over and after it does its thing. Presto, a few minutes later the phone boots into Firefly 2.3 with no problems. I am running the ROM I wanted and I am a lot happier now.
Hey I'm Steve, I bought a rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab off craigslist. I wanted to restore it back to factory defaults, I restored the system back to factory defaults but every time I hit the Power Button to turn the screen back on it powers off on me... I'm just tapping the Power Button (not holding it). I cant boot into Recovery (i guess the Clockwork recovery image was deleted when I did a factory reset) and now theres NO RECOVERY IMAGE. I used Odin and a Stock Rom to reset everything, but even then its not reset. Theres still Superuser.apk on it.

As long as I keep the screen on it stays on. But that will drain the battery very quickly if I have to keep the screen on all the time. Help me, what can I do to get the Stock Recovery Image back on and stop the shutdown when I press the power button? I'm running Windows 7, I have ADB installed too. Please help me, any useful advice will aide in my SGT's Quick Recovery.. I just bought this thing yesterday
Bump. Please someone help me!
Why have you titled your topic as "bricked" when your tab is clearly NOT bricked??
"Bricked" is when your phone wont switch on or wont boot into any OS because of bootloader issue etc. What you have is simply a problem, not a "brick". It could be that you're a mug and have bough a defective Tab from somebody. Try installing a custom rom like Overcome.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
The above will come with a guide, READ IT. This will re-stock your device with Android 2.3 aswell as update it to Overcome v2.0.
PS. Dont "bump" your topic only after 20 mins, Its pointless. If somebody wants to answer they will, moving it up a couple of places doesn't make any difference at all.
Maybe so but I cant even get into Recovery Mode tho. I can get into Download Mode but not recovery mode and pressing the power button turns the device off not wakes it up. I assumed bricked didnt mean just to where it wouldn't power on.
Thanks man. That seemed to do the trick. I guess the stock rom I got was borked or didn't want to work with my SGT so this one works fine. Thanks again, Thanked you in the Forum
