i am having a problem. I dropped my HTC Diamond and cracked the screen. the screen is no usable at all. The buttons at the bottom work but nothing on the screen works. Now, i need to get the contacts off of the phone, as i have bought a the new HTC Hero Android. But, the problem is when i goto sycn the broken phone to my comp. i can only get it to go into windows explorer. It won't create an Activsync connection. Reason being is when the diamond worked i remeber having to touch the screen to choose between 2 connection options (activsync or disc drive) now i can't do that.(broken touch screen) is there any way to get the contacts off of it? I have a link to a forum i was on, that i can send in a private message. if someone could help me would be awesome. thanks
odds are the touch works even if the screen doesnt.
you may also be able to select with the direction pad.
ACTIVESYNC Reply
Just ActiveSync real quick, an you'll be good to go.
You should be able to ActiveSync just like before. On mine, if it was the last means of USB connection, ActiveSync will fire right up when you plug in. If the last item picked before the screen went bad was "USB Drive", just use the down arrow key to get back to what would've been "Activesync" mode.
Good Luck.

Hello,
I broke the screen on my tilt and was told I can still access the phone using My Mobiler and Pocket PC Controller etc. But here is the thing, I dont already have the software installed on my tilt and the software says it will install the software onto the phone... but i ant follow the prompts if I cant see my screen. Correct?
Is there anyway to go about this? All i really want to do is check my text messages.

Click to collapse
Activesync and drag them over to the PC would be the obvious way - there is some software kicking around that lets you control your ppc from your pc - if it shows what the screen 'should' be showing then that could help.
Good luck
just another another option
my mobiler is freeware and will let you see you mobiles screen on your pc and transfer whatever you need means you can access your fone like normal...
hi all, i think my trinity is dead, when i connect htc to pc it syncs ok, but when htc connects normaly it ask for configure screen Alignment and dont pass that screen it ask over and over again to config. touch screen positions, when i try to flash with other rom it says ''not conected'' but actualy it is connected and sync with WINDOWS MOBILE, is any way that i can clear all firmwares ou make the htc back with factory settings?i think is the only thing that might work, im stuck with the updating and touch screen position problems...the touch screen problem i think is more hard to solve, is that any way to pass that screen configuration menu and run windows mobile normaly? probably i will be able to flash more easily inside the windows mobile...

I know this question is noob, but please forgive me guys, I've just got my phone this afternoon.
I have done a search on this box and on the web but not found any solution. Could you guys please help me to connect my HTC Dream to my computer? I have install HTC Sync 2.04, but it doesn't recognize my phone when I plug it in. And, by the way, can I connect to internet through my computer, like the way I did it with my O2 Atom Life through Active Sync?
Thanks so much.
I have download HTC Sync and follow the instructions found on the website, but I didn't see any notification shown that my phone has connected to the computer. So what do I do now?
Plug in your USB cable to the pc and the phone. After a second, go to the phone and slide down the notification shade (the top bar) you should see a thing that says USB connected. Tap that. Then a box will pop up and ask you to mount your phone. Tap mount and your pc will register it as a removable disk.
When you are finished, go back to your phone and slide the shade back down, tap the USB connected thing again, then click unmount before unplugging the cable from the phone. This will save the sd card from becoming corrupted.
That should be the way to read the MiniSD card from computer shouldn't it? I have done that and I still find that I can't make HTC sync work actually. The issue is, can my phone connect to internet through my computer?
The Dream is a Google experience phone. The firmware is built from the Google source code and nothing more. HTC Sync requires an app to be installed on the phone which I believe is wrapped up in the HTC framework. Our google phones don't have those frameworks by default so, we can't 'push' it back in.
It's included on the HTC Branded phones (Magic and Hero) so ROMs ported from those devices do have it included and of course the required frameworks. Thing is, hardly anyone uses HTC Sync, so the ROM devs remove them to make 99% of us happy. Sorry, but the Dream was never intended to use HTC Sync. If you're desperate, flash Haykuro's 6.0 ROM.
So does it mean that my phone will not be able to connect to internet through my computer, or is there another way round? I prefer connect this way, since wifi is not always available in my place...
Hey guys, I have a problem here,
After installing Leng Arabic on my HTC Diamond phone the phone reset itself, I got a message saying Caching arabic then the phone reset itself again all the way to show me the HTC Logo followed by a black screen that only shows the signal power, unfortunalty i have a key lock on my phone so i am unable to connect it to the PC using activesync and I get the following message " You have failed to unlock your device. To connect or synchronize with this PC, please disconnect your device and try again." as The screen is just black I am unable to unlock the phone.
Can you please advise if there is any way to get access the contacts before doing a hard reset? I managed to access the bootlaoder screen using the volume down and the rest button and I get HTC USB sync in my device manager but i am unable to get anywhere inside the phone from there?
Many thanks in advace
I take it you cannot connect to activesynch from the bootloader? I dont really know what you mean by 'keylock', but ive messed up a few htc phones bit as long as i can get to the bootlader ive been fine. I think sprite allows you to make a backup from windows as well as your phone. Maybe try running that from the bootloader. I dont have my phone with me (!!!!) but i think i have sprite 6.5.4
A 'demo' wink wink is easily found on the net.
