[Q] How to stop Google applications from running automatically? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When ever I kill these processes and apps, (google maps, locations, latitude, navigation) they keep coming back.
is there a way to make them stop running on boot and automatically without using app killer?

Click to collapse
You can't... Uninstall the offending app.. services are designed to keep running in the background.

Apps keeps launching back even after force close (froyo91)..

in 2.1, most of my apps didnt relaunch when i force close them but now they keep jumping right back even after using apps like automatic task killer and advanced task manager.. i dont want em to run when i am surfing the net thru gprs as i dont have unlimited data plans.. a little help here.. ?
pls
wow no one wana help out ...
You're not the only one as I have same issue. I have used Advanced Task Killer Free and SystemPanel Lite, both to no avail.
Pandora Radio, Slacker Radio, Facebook App, TiKL Touch to Talk, all come back on sporadically even after being killed.
This was an issue SOMETIMES with Eclair (2.1) but not as much as it is with Froyo (2.2 - FRF91 build).
Using stock non-rooted AT&T N1.

I get this with a few different applications. Y5 and FreeWiFi do this to me, causing my super-fast, full-bars 3G connection to deactivate and switch to a barely captured WiFi signal sometimes while walking near my house. I had to uninstall Y5 because of this, in fact: even configuring the application not to autostart and autorun didn't stop the behavior.
What apps are you talking about here? You can always put the widget on your desktop to turn auto sync off or change the individual apps' settings to manually connect to the internet. I fail to see how force closing apps is a more reliable option or what other apps will connect to the internet of their own volition. I haven't stumbled across any.
Apps being loaded into memory doesn't mean they are active.
If you have applications that don't have internet management controls built in, there is nothing you can do to stop them from using data, short of going into airplane mode. Simply don't use any applications that use the internet without your permission.
I think task killer does not work in froyo anymore because an app can't kill other apps anymore

[q] how to stop googl apps from reloading to memory???

Hi.
Im using android mate and I see that I have 12 apps running on startup – google maps, Navigator, Locations and that other app which sends your location to other.
All are google apps.
I have this autostart killer app but these apps are still running and I'm sure they consume battery power and eat up some RAM.
Someone has an idea?
P.S. – I don't want to uninstall them.

facebook.. gmail. what the heck!

I have no idea how these two applications and "google play store" constantly stay in the background even though I have not launched the application at all. I kill them then soon again they will pop back in the background again.
Is that some way I could ask the system to stop them from launching at all after reboot? It's really annoying because it's taking too much valuable ram from my other stuffs. Imagine the wait when applications are fighting to reshuffle RAM capital
Kill that apk on running aps
Uncheck data sync and auto update in the apps

Preventing autolaunching of apps?

Hi, people...
I am running a rooted stock GB ROM with abyss kernel and would like to know how to prevent certain apps suddenly starting to run in the background. I have Android assistant installed and it is great for killing multiple apps and other stuff. But some apps like Latitude, Gmail, Samsung account, Yahoo finance seem to sneak from behind and when I check AA I see them running so I have to mark them and kill them. How can I completely keep them, or any other non-system app out of operation, unless I start them?
Many thanks....
Killing apps is NOT preventing apps from autorunning.
Task killers are bad because some apps will just rerun itself, wasting battery life.
I personally use Autostarts, it can prevent apps from running when starting up, or when triggered by an event like for example: Wifi connected, data connected, etc...
Be careful with it if you are trying to disable system apps as some things can break your phone.
Markuzy, thanks for the reply...
I know that killing apps isn't doing the job, but at the moment that is what I do when I check my phone and see the pest running around. I have Android assistant there I have been offered to stop stuff like Accuweather, Skype, Youtube and similar stuff from running at startup, but I will try Autostarts to see if that does better job and offer better and more comprehensive list of what can be NOT ALLOWED TO LIVE, as opposed to killing..
Don't worry, I'm not touching any of the system bits, just regular apps...
Use Titanium Backup(Donate version) and then freeze the offending apps.
You can always defrost them later
