Great program, but Im having trouble with the sms function.
Ive gone in and changed the registry to where the program is the default contact manager, and made the changes for the softkey. What is happening is that when in PocketCM and I want to read my text messages, the program will load the messages and then disappear after a matter of seconds. It doesn't stay up long enough for me to read anything.
Ive been to their site and searched around and wasn't able to find anything close. Ive searched here and didn't find anything helpful.
If anyone has an idea, please let me know.
really, and I mean REALLY slows my phone down too....
try the beta version of .16. its 100x faster than .15.
Wassona - I never had that problem even when I was using .15. I would suggest to uninstall and reinstall it.

Anyone have a cab file for .16??? I downloaded what is available from the creators website, but its just the program file with nothing to "tell the phone to use it" instead of contacts.

I tried that numerous time before I created the post and it didnt change anything. Im wondering if it has something to do with the way my sms/mms is setup on the phone.
Who knows. Maybe I'll get a reply on the Pocketcm forum.

Just copy the downloaded files in your program file map on your device within the map CMcontacts.
you don't need the cab file when you already have it installed.
This might be something to think about. Hard reset the phone and thought that I had backed up all the sms messages that I had. Turned out i was wrong. Re installed pocketcm and it works. Before I had over 340+ sms messages due to the constant backups. Im wondering if i didnt exceed some buffer.

Ive searched the forum for a couple of hours and i cant find a solution to my questions so i thought id create a new thread.
i have downloaded TomTom, i have the .cab file and the .exe file but neither seem to work.
when executing the .exe file i get to the window where it says 'modify, repair, delete' and then the programs closes. if i pick modify it asks me to do a soft reset, which i do and then nothing happens again after that.
when trying to install the .cab it says i need to update my rom version.
i have just flashed duttys 6.1 rom so wondering what could be the problem?
i have been trying to install tomtom for some time now and i would appreciate any help.

What .exe file r u talking about? You only need to copy the .cab file to your phone first, then run it from your phone. As for maps use tomtom HOME software...go to tomtom web site to get it..& install on your comp then use it to install the maps. There's a freebie small map to try though with tomtom if it's your first time using it.

The posted thread doesn't relate to the original problem. He can't install the tomtom software. Make sure you have version 6.032.8351 tomtom .cab
My tomtom works just fine.
as stated above my question is not answered, and yes i have searched for hours.
i have the 'Installer_Kaiser_ttn_6_032_8351_HTC_WWE_20070716' .exe file that someone posted on another thread somewhere on here but i cant seem to find it anymore...and i also have the 'ttn_6_032_8351_HTCWWE_Kaiser' .cab file...i know these are just two different types of installation, im just explaining that i have both, and im having trouble with both.
i know that you just put the .cab on the phone and it installs but i get the error message saying a rom needs to be updated.
and with the .exe file do i need to download anything extra before executing it from my pc?

OK let me clarify this. YOu have flashed dutty 6.1 ROM on your phone successfully correct? If so...
the posted .exe you don't need it..to install tomtom software
and the .cab file posted the name of it doesn't look right..

that link above is pretty interesting...never encountered that. Kill all apps that could be causing conflict. If that still doesn't work, try using another cab. I have WM 6.1 3.02 version and mine works totally fine.

I am facing a weired problem,
I have installed an application, it was installed very well, with no problems at all.
But when i flashed it with a new ROM, i have tried to installed that application again, i keep getting:
Installation of 1 ACERT_ARB.CAB was unsuccessful
shortly the whole package doesn't get installed at all.
I went through the program files, deleted any old stuff, tried to reinstall, but the same problem
i have put the old ROM back, but still no luck
am i missing something here? any advises please?

i get that issue every now and again. I usually have to either use a different file explorer or do a soft reset and try again.

i have found the solution finally
the current ROM doesn't support the CAB file i was installing,
i needed to do the following:
remove the SD card
reinstall the compatible ROM which support the CAB file
i hoop it it heps other they may had the same issue
reinstalled rom...
still problem continue

I recently had this problem when trying to install a couple of CAB files. It appears that something was running that the CAB was trying to update. So, for example, I was trying to install "Inbox Extender" and POutlook (and/or tmail?) was running. Once I killed that, I could install the CAB.
CAB won't install suggestion
I saw this with several cabs that I ran using Resco Explorer and I had Kaiser Tweaks set to not delete the cab after install. The solution was to deselect that setting in Kaiser Tweak, ket a fresh (never run) copy of the cab file and run it using the generic file explorer. It has worked every time since then.

Microsoft has made ACERT_ARB.CAB for limited time I think so. Now Microsoft has decided to claim $ for their OS windows mobile. They are working with www.penreader.com
ACERT_ARB.CAB is no more working.

Hey guys, I am using Dutty's WM 6.1 19209 rom
What my problem is, i want to change the task manager that comes with this rom to the newer version so i can get my video to start recording. I dont know how to uninstall it and replace it because there is an icon in the programs folder.
I read somewhere that all i need to do is replace it and it will work but idk how to replace them in that folder.
So, you don't know how to uninstall it because there is an icon in programs. Interesting. I often get confused about uninstalling things because it's installed. Hmmm.. How about, this probley won't work but it could.
Start
settings
system
remove programs.
If it's there then you need to uninstall via the uninstall.
If not just install the new app, if it's a newer version of the same app it should uninstall automatically.
If this isn't what you ment then I suggest you write your problem out a bit better.

You should request this in the tread of rom, bigger chance one of the people who is using it or helping out on support there sees it. If not wait couple of days and perhaps bumping it. I say this because if everyone making a new tread like this its going to be impossible to read this forum in the end.

to me, the reads as you tried to copy it to the phone but it no workie.... I am shocked that the phone won't allow the file to be copied.
Copy and Install are 2 dif things.
I just want to know how to uninstall the one that came with the rom.
copying the new crap isnt the issue.
you cant uninstall it cause its cooked into the rom, use total commander and then you can copy it over
Today i saw a post on another forum that there is a leaked version of Swype but does this work for our beloved HTC hero aswell ?
No, currently only works in WVGA resolution (Droid/Nexus One) and as our Hero is HVGA, this will not work and has been suggested by people who have tried it.
I believe they are developing it for our reso as we speak? Im looking forward to it!
I really can't wait for this to be released for the Hero, especially after trying it on a friend's Droid.

Let me tell you what all I did.
After installing this I could't find it in all programes so I went to Astro again and click on swype.apk, so it gave me option of browse file or open Apps Manager. After selecting Apps Manager, there were two options: uninstall , launch. I had selected Launch, which gave error:
"Main Activity not found for com.swype.androide.inputmethod"
Also I had tried Settings>Local&Text>Swype
(I wonder that now I have downloaded and installed Local2 (for Indian region))???

ohh you mean you cant get it up when you install it? This will be the htc keyboard stopping it, its a right pain but you can get them to swap!

ShapeWriter is a similar thing, it's awesome and works on the Hero.
Any chance on some tips on how you guys managed to enable the swype keyboard?
I've got it installed, ran the the tutorial, ticked the enable box etc. but just don't get it to pop up on the screen...
Only thing I've noticed is that the Default option under swype settings just says "Please Wait"
By the way, I bought Shapewriter for the TabletPC and think it has great potential. Especially with ATMOIC layout enabled. But I think the company looks like it is heading towards a dead end. No updates for ages to known issues. Forums have spam on them and questions that have not been replied to for months etc.
Hence I'm hoping swype will be my way forward instead.

I managed to get it working by opening a fresh type screen (Message, Google search) Press and hold on the empty space and it pops up with input options...select Swype
