I don't see/notice the light sensor next to the n button like I did on the displays and rep's NC... Anyone else notice this? I looked for it, because I wasn't noticing my unit adjusting the backlighting..

It's been answered... look at the model number in the back. If it ends with an A you've got the sensor. If not then you don't have it.

I successfully replaced some hardware on my AT&T Tilt to OEM hardware however one of the gold contact points on the object that seems to be the speaker/microphone flew off somehow... I tried to ghetto duct-tape it but I can't hear or receive sound - I can only get sound on speakerphone but nobody can hear me.

Anyone know of any hardware differences between the two currently selling, BNRV200 and BNRV200A units?
-CC
Looks like they're exactly the same thing. The FCC ID and IC ID say "BNRV200A" while the Model No. is BNRV200.
I'd be interested to know if there are any Model No. BNRV200A units out there but haven't seen any on XDA.

So far only thing I have been able to notice up close and personal with a few demo units and my own unit is that there one obvious difference. The front bezel has a darker circle next to the Nook button, my unit does not have this.
Various "light sensor" threads with pictures confirm this.
In IRC chat it was mentioned that in one tear down, the area where the light sensor is supposed to be on the board was unpopulated. Not sure which version was used in that tear down though..

Hooray!! Sold my Black iPhone 4 16GB AT&T for $440!
Now getting a Captivate used 3 days old for $175 off some dude on Craigslist. Price is about $190-ish where I am, but those are used.
What do I look out for, guys? (Things I know include
- Water damage indicator on battery (but he can replace battery, right?)
> Is there a water damage indicator like on the iPhones that would help me out more?
- Use touchscreen, try all areas
- Check for dead pixels
- See if camera, 3G, wifi, bluetooth work
- See if speaker works for sound, microphone if I get a chance
Anything else guys? One of the more important things I think is a water damage indicator other than the battery?
Thanks a lot XDA! (And I ordered a microsim adapter TODAY!)
Anyone can help me?

If it has water damage I would not even buy it.
When you get it, go to Settings/about phone/status to check to make sure the IMEI number matches the number that is behind the battery on the white tag. I have seen on here before where someone buys a captivate from ebay or craigslist and the previous owner screwed up something while flashing custom ROMs and now the phone has a generic IMEI number which means it may not work as a phone anymore.
If the IMEI # in settings is showing a number beginning with something like 004, dont even think twice - DONT BUY IT.
oh, yes, and what jetpuck73 said above - water damage = do not buy.

Thanks VERY MUCH for that, something I did not know.
And lol maybe I said "water damage" too much, but he said it is brand new and NOT water damaged.
What I wanted to know is HOW to check. There is one on the battery, correct? Any on the phone itself too like iPhone?
Thanks for info!!

The sticker I am refering to is actually on the phone, under the battery. Another thing I would look for on the same sitcker is the build number. It is a 4 digit number beginning with either 10 or 11 mayber with a "." in the middle (i.e. 10.07, 10.08, 10.09, 11.01, etc.) If you use GPS at all, I know for a fact (and from hands-on experience) that Captivates with the number 10.07 have CRAPPY gps reception.
I wouldn't worry about numbers on the battery itself. I don't think there is a feature on the Captivate that indicates if it has had water damage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873276&highlight=silver+speaker
If it has this mod, buy it without question. *Sarcasm*
It hasn't been clear, so to be clear: yes there is a water indicator on the phone. Plus another on the battery. Its by the battery contacts.
The other problems you originally mentioned aren't known issues. So far I have yet to hear a single dead pixel on a captivate. But checking can't hurt, same with wifi, bt, gps etc. One thing I will say is that sometimes the screen appears to have burn in, in the notification bar. If you pull up an all white picture can can sometimes see shadows of the notification bar, clock, signal, etc. Its not an actual burn, its residual energy or something, there have been a few threads about it. It will usually go away after a reboot. So, if you see what appears to be slight screen burn at the top its fine.

Hi guys, I'm about to buy a second hand HTC ONE but I heard that trhe camera has a defect, purple tint.
-How can I check if it does have the defect?
-Is it something that happens over time?
-Is there anything I should know before I make this purchase?
Thank you!
Basically everything can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465651
If it has the faulty sensor, it'll produce purple images (try covering the lens or use dark environment.

Thank you for replying, this is bad. I'm really reluctant to buy this second hand phone now. Does it happen over time or do some devices just come with it?
Depends on when it was made and probably market region. But in the thread I posted there are instructions how to check it.
I never checked mine, because it's easy to tell that I have a faulty one

Buy it from eBay. If it comes with a faulty camera you can easily get your money back.

Hello friends i purchased 2nd gen moto g on 25th dec in india from flipkart! I got it delivered on 26th dec. that was really fast! thank you for that flipkart!
But after using it for next 2-3 days i found white pixels on my moto g to be little yellowish! i compared my moto g to my friend's moto g(same model) and his phone is perfectly fine! i tried digging for the solution on internet and i found out that some other people also complain about the same! they also said that the replacement unit is also same! Is there anyone else from india who is facing the same issue? What i should do? Will flipkart replace my phone? Really worried.. and if it replaces the device is there any chance for new device having the same problem ?
Please share your experience about replacement with flipkart in india.
May be if someone has bought Moto G 2014 in last few days can check their phone and reply? Just wanna know if the whole bunch of stock is damaged?!?!?! may be?
here is the screen shot i took with my phone! I have no idea if it looks yellowish in screenshot or not! that can be a hardware fault or an lollipop update will fix it ?
Are you just saying that you think the color temperature is too warm or what? A screenshot won't show that. Pictures posted by other owners have shown color temperature variance of ~1000K or more, and the measurements I've seen vary greatly. PhoneArena measured their review sample at 8290K, NotebookCheck measured one at 7336K, and I measured my own XT1064 at 6855K (20% - 100%). So there seems to be a large variance. Because it is typical for phones to have a color temperature that is too cool, I wonder if some of you people who complain about "yellow" screens may actually have phones that are reasonably close to the ideal of ~6500K and perhaps don't know what an accurate color temperature looks like?
Although I've a different kitkat phone but I don't see any color difference b/w mine & yours(in msg. app, for instance)...Both appear same.

This won't show up in a screenshot. He would need to take an actual photo of the phone to show the color temperature, but that would be affected by the lighting, the camera, our monitors....
The version of Android will have no affect on this at all, and Android doesn't support color correction.
It would be rare for phones to have a color temp that is too warm. They are usually too cool.
But FWIW, the phone shown in this picture does appear to have a very warm color temp. There is obviously a huge variance from unit to unit, and it may be even more of a problem in India than elsewhere. My US model has a decent (slightly cool) color temp and slightly undersaturated colors. It's a big improvement from my Sensation.

Yeah bro thanks for care but the android version is just okey because my friend is on the same stock ROM that i have! And his phone is just fine!
I dont know much about color temp on any device honestly! but i just know is that the phone that i have it's display looks sooo dull due to yellow color on white pixels! i compared it with the other phone (same model "Moto G 2014") that my friend has! His phone displays perfect clear white! That makes me worried about this thing being a defective unit! I have seen on internet people talking about putting their phone in direct sunlight to remove yellow tint but i dont think i should do this coz i just bought it from Flipkart so its their responsibility to provide a fully working unit!
I will only keep this if a software update can fix this issue!
Though i have already requested replacement i haven't got any call back from them to ensure the replacement process! This is the first time i'm feeling this bad service from flipkart
I'm attaching a picture taken with other camera in the first post! take a look.. sorry about the picture quality! i just hav my old nokia phone that i can use as a camera for now!
I have added another screenshot and i see there is nothing wrong coming up in the screen shot so Is it the hardware issue with the LCD panel ? :crying
Have the same issue. And other too.

I have the same issue with my unit itself. It is way too yellowish. Color calibration is always same for the same model from the software-side. Eg. Your's and your friend's phone. So it is a hardware issue. Good thing you requested for replacement. Flipkart will take a bit of time to get back to you on Electronics replacement, because they would like to help you troubleshoot first with the assumption that just something is set wrong and it is not a hardware issue. I requested yesterday and they got back to me today only. Just for information, I requested replacement for flushed buttons on side. I have a really hard to press power button and volume rocker. Replacement is on it's way. And yours will be soon too, nothing to worry.
Btw, how are the buttons feeling on your phone? Is it mushy or hard to press or something like that? Just so I know.

Read somewhere that a guy asked for the replacement for his yellowish looking display on moto g and got the same issue on new replacement unit (from Flipkart ofc)! I hope that wont happen to us. Fingers cross!
Talking about the buttons, they were hard on the first day but got lose just in 2 days after i started using it! My friend told me to be careful with buttons as they get very loose overtime!
Can you tell me when you got your moto g delivered to you?
Same old same old.

I saw that the same tint is found on the new one plus one! And also people are saying it goes away in 2-3 weeks! or by putting the phone in sunlight for 2 hours!
are you going for another replacement? Do they give refund??

The screen doesnt have any issue, per say. But it is heavily warm (manufacturing is done with more than one screen providers at hand. My guess is, it's from another producer), and that is something I do not want. Besides that i have a few dead pixels. And considering those utterly crap buttons, I'm gonna go for refund. They do refund. But i'm not sure how that's gonna play out as i bought it in a buyback program. Let's see how it goes.
