Hello,
today l recieved the Desire HD, l'm the happiest man alive
l have an idea. Is there an app, which can wake up the phone from standby using the accelerometer? l mean, when the phone is on a table and it is in standby, when l grab it and move it to wake it? l would like such app, because the power button is not really comfortable. Аnd when you put it manually in standby (push the power button) to be able to wake it only with another push (as when in the pocket the phone will be always on).
Thanks!
+1 good idea, i wonder if there's anything out there..

+1 REALLY Good idea!
1 thing missing. The app should use the proximity sensor. I don't want it to wake whilst in my pocket

That's why l suggested when you turn the standby with the power button, to be able to wake it only with the power button. Then when you walk, it will not turn on when in your pocket.

Hello guys,
Do you know if theire is an app for waking up the nexus just by tapping or sliding on the back screen? Such app exist for thé galaxy nexus.

Your title contradicts itself. You want to tap your phone to wake it.. But also like pressing the power button? Did you mean you "don't" like pressing the power button?
Tap to wake exists but it has to be baked into the kernel and it's really useless (imo).
The `feature' works by basically keeping the screen in a powered state.. Kernels that support this feature (which is becoming less and less and less) usually set it on a 15-45 second timer... You have X amount of time after putting your phone to sleep that touch to wake will work.. After that time elapses your screen is fully powered off and touch to wake will no longer work. If this feature existed 24/7 you'd be going through batteries like crazy.
Hum ok dude thx for that answer, I want this function but il like more battery life...
Do you know any app waking the screen by capting motion with the camera? Or using any other sensors available on the nexus for doing so?

tbh not sure. I imagine someone could use the proximity sensor (which I don't think the N7 even has) but using that would cause so many false wakes by sliding it in and out of cases, etc it would also be useless.
Your only solution with the N7 is wearing a magnetic glove and waving your hand across the bottom left of the unit.
Yeah or by implementing a magnet on one of my finger... I don't find the accès to the power button very easy thought

That's not necessarily so. PGM on the Nexus doesn't appear to work like that at all, though since it's proprietary, we don't know exactly how it works. It certainly doesn't chew up any more juice on my Gnex, nor does it cause wakelocks.
showp1984 is working on something similar for his N7 bricked kernel.

Gotcha, if that is your problem you could always use a ROM that has volume wake.. AOKP does for sure, CM10 does I believe (someone confirm) and probably others.. Enabling it will let you wake the phone using the power button or the volume rocker.. This will obviously will interfere with anything allowing you to use the volume rocker to advanced to the next song etc while the phone is asleep. This way you basically have 3 buttons to wake up the phone instead of finding `the one'.

Interesting. Learn something new every day. :good: I stand corrected
I would also like a slide to wake. Having it on my galaxy Nexus means I try it on my 7 about once a day.

New here in the HTC one area so please forgive me if this topic was already covered. Being new to the HTC phone I wasn't liking the soft button lights turning off during the day light so this app basically keeps button backlight always on, as long as the screen is on.
Confirmed working with HTC one. KiNDA

UPDATE: The soft lights turn off on occasion and I have to toggle the power button to turn the light back on. Bug I guess but quick minor temp fix by hitting the button
UPDATE 7-/4/13: According to solid.snake (see quote below), Capacitive Buttons Brightness Works well

Hello everyone. Not sure if somebody using this to wake up your OB but it's great for me as I don't like to press a power every time.
You do not need a root for it.
I've just updated my new LG Optimus Black to official ICS 4.0.4 (30b-EUR-XX) Great tutorial here http://getin.in/index.php?option=co...l-android-4-0-ics-rom-update&catid=86:gadgets
Go to settings->Lock screen->None, and now you can use any hardware button to turn screen on.
I've got widgetsoid app from market (my favorite one for power toggle widget) and widget "lockscreen" on my homescreen to turn screen off.
Couldn't find any better way to save my power button and wake it up
This is great for me. Because my powerbutton is getting a little bit broken because of pressing it to Much.

Hi guys!
I tried 3 apps that can use your phone's gallery, browser, lockscreen and call accept like in s4 but none of these work.
Is there a problem my proximity sensor?
Or its another weak point at 4x?
What you get with these apps (air call accept and air swiper)? Are they work for you?

I tried both apps and both of them are not working for me unfortunately. Proximity sensor is working because when i answer a call and put the phone next to my ear the screen go black. So that means that proximity is only activated when you are talking wizh someone.

And are there any way to turn on proximity sensor?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
There isn't a problem with turning on, it's the lack of the sensor, it only supports two distance modes - sensor is covered ,sensor is free so you have to put your hand nearly touching the screen, so wave Is a big problem, it's not being detected most of the times, only by really slowly moving the finger across, I tried other apps with the prox control, and that's the result.
