Hopefully someone can help me get the market to download apps.
Steps taken:
1. Rooted with Auto-nooter 0.1
2. Ran Auto-nooter 2.12.15 over top of 0.1 to fix some stuff
3. Market failed to download apps
4. Factory Reset - reverted to stock
5. Re-registered NC to functioning stock device
6. Rooted with Auto-nooter 2.12.15
7. Got root, followed all instructions to enable device and extras in order specified
8. Market still not downloading
Can anyone else say they are having this issue? What about a possible fix to this?
When I went to Sync gmail for the first time, my account was already in the device. I'm assuming this was because of the Youtube activation with my gmail account?
Thanks
I'm also having a problem downloading apps from the Marketplace. They show up as Downloading but never download. I searched for the problem on the Android Marketplace help, which offers the following suggestions (go to google support androidmarket and click the download issues troubleshooting page):
If your application is stalled at "Starting download", please use a few of the following troubleshooting steps to help your download to completion:
Confirm that there is connectivity on your device (contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected)
If downloading a paid application, confirm that your credit card information is up to date by logging in your Google Checkout account
Make sure that your phone is logged into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
Launch Talk again to sign in
If unsuccessful after attempting these steps, let us know and we'll be happy to investigate further. However, I cannot sign in to Talk on the NC. Anyone having similar problems?
I followed the steps below to Root, after Rooting and Unrooting due to the Market issue:
Chose Complete action using Setup Wizard
Tapped Droid bot
Skipped Learn how to use your LogicPD Zoom2
Skipped Set up your Google Account
Selected both boxes for Use Google Location and clicked Next
Clicked the menu arrow -- settings -- Wireless & connected to WiFi
Launched Youtube, accepted ToS, clicked menu and added my linked google account
Launched Gmail and refreshed
Launched market and accepted ToS.
Well, my limited experience (i only got market able to work last night at 3 AM Pacific) taught me that even if you don't see an item downloading in the task bar, if you go to the main Android Market screen and click Downloads you'll see it there. And it installs on its own. You do see the "installed" check mark symbol though, after it's done.
For some reason, mine started working all of a sudden. I didn't do anything different since second root attempt. Maybe I wasn't waiting long enough for the download to kick off. Anyways, thanks guys.

I rooted my phone for the first time this weekend and loaded Cyanogen MOD. Everything is working GREAT, except for one issue with Locale. When I go in to setup a a new situation it won't let me add a location condition. I hit the "Add Condition" button, hit Location, and all it does is go to a black screen for a second or two and then takes me back to the "edit situation" screen. After I hit location it looks like it's trying to load the normal location select screen but can't for some reason. Anyone ever see this or have any ideas why it might be doing that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The app has worked flawlessly for me and I have always had root but I think the latest update made this feature not work which is unfortunate.
I installed the 4.0.2 Cyanogen ROM yesterday and setup a new location in Locale as recently as an hour ago. Do try an uninstall and reinstall of locale and make sure you're running the latest version of Google Maps.
I already tried un/reinstall of Locale to no avail. I just tried un/reinstalling Google Maps as well, but that didn't work either.
Any other ideas?
Try opening google maps and finding your location in there first. I did that and it magically started working again.
So, nothing I tried worked (even opening google maps first). I started to get more suspicious when I noticed a few other map-enabled apps would work as well (mymaps editor, weatherbug, etc). So I decided there must either be something wrong with the version of the ROM I loaded or something else I had done messed up something with the maps. Loaded the latest version of cyanogen and now it works great. Go figure.
Thanks for all the suggestions anyway.
According to the developers website they know about the issue and its being blamed on people with rooted phones. Their solution is to go back to an OEM build of Android which is total bull**** so I sent them an email letting them know.
"Why can't I open Locations after the latest update?
This happens frequently on rooted phones, phones running unofficial installations of Android, or phones modified in some non-standard way (e.g. running apps off of the SD card). Try restoring your phone to an officially supported version of Android."
http://www.twofortyfouram.com/support.html
Locations doesn't work on hacked phones, because the Android on these phones has a problem loading the Google Maps libraries. This is NOT a bug in Locale, and there is no code change in Locale that would fix the issue.
In order to investigate this issue, I've taken these steps:
1. Contact Google: Initially, this appeared to be a bug in Android. Google investigated and found that only hacked phones had problems, at which point they considered the issue closed.
2. Contact Steve Kondik (e.g. Cyanogen): He is looking into issue, but I haven't heard anything further from him.
At this point, there's just nothing else I can do. I can only suggest reverting to an official version of Android.

I rooted my NOOKColor a couple of days ago using Auto-nooter 3.0 and everything went fine. I was able to start up Google Talk, browse the Android Marketplace and download a few apps, sync with my Gmail account, and basically do everything I tried.
Somewhere along the way, I lost the ability to start up Google Talk. Along with that whenever I try to download an app from the Marketplace, the screen says "Starting Download" but the download never starts. I searched the mobileread forums, the Android forums, and the messages posted here looking for a solution. It appears that the root of the problem is the inability to start Google Talk which somehow prevents the downloading of apps from the Marketplace.
Does anyone know how to get Google Talk working again ?? I know that I can just "un-root" the NC and start from scratch but that seems like a bit of overkill - sorta like breaking an egg with a sledgehammer!!
Any help or suggestions on how to get both Google Talk and Marketplace downloading again would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks . . .
So, bought a nook color yesterday. It came loaded with 1.2, and the first thing I did after registering is root. No custom ROM, but have superruser and official Android Market access. I can even install a few apps. However, there are a few that I expected to see (Kindle, Astro in particular) that dont show up via a specific search for them in the Market. Did I do something wrong? Did I somehow half-root this? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
There are issues with the market after rooting. One of the devs seems to have finally figured it out (apparently it's been quite a ***** to sort out), but he's validating it before publishing it.
Same problem
I have the same problem with the market place. Where will the fix be posted?
After manual rooting Calendar issues
After doing the manual root the one application that seems to be the trouble for me is Calendar. The Google Calendar does not allow to add an account calendar to use. I have tried several other applications with no luck either. One indicates there is a issue synch information.
Then the other minor issue is within the Market has been fun. While in the Market it will decide to either go back a screen, go to the main area of the Market or exit completely out of the Market. That created issue when I was in the middle of downloading an application.
Any suggestions? The Calendar is more important but it would be nice to get both issues resolved.
This worked great for me.

The Calendar issue was resolved with CalenGoo. It is able to synch and update information.
Market is getting better with the steps.
Let the fun begin.
found this

Hi
Up until yesterday, apps, whether paid or free would download fine on my device. Nothing has changed my end, but today, paid apps will no longer download (free apps download fine). There are two issues, the authorising payment page takes eons (used to be instant), and the phone sits on the 'starting download' or 'downloading...' pages for ever without ever actually downloading the app that I have paid for. Issue is present whether I initiate the download from the phone or from a PC.
Obviously, this makes the phone next to useless. I have no time to wipe/re-install the phone - especially since this may not even fix the issue!
I can find no 'report an issue' link at google's market to get support on this issue. The apps purchased are past the refund window.
I have tried all the various fixes I found on google (start google talk, kill cache/app settings for market and downloader), try another internet connection, restart phone blah blah, nothing has worked.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Nigel
Paid apps that had previously been installed and then removed will re-install fine... I can only assume that its the authorisation thats failing (nothing wrong with any of the cards on my google wallet account).
Nigel
Go to setting - application - manage - All - market - clear cache n Data
do same for talk (google talk)
first login to talk then market
In market application - check setting - accout - Fix default if you have multiple acc
Hi
As mentioned in my original post. I already tried that. I just tried it again with the same result.
After having done the above, I tried to buy the app from my PC, Got the following message 'Your order is still being processed. Your item will become available as soon as your order is complete. If you'd like, you can check your order status at anytime.' which is not the norm. Clicking the link within the message takes me to the transaction in google wallet which is listed as 'complete' unfortunately, the download does not auto-start (like it used to) on the phone, and when I force it to manually start, It goes to the 'starting download...' message. The app never does download, market app just displays this message forever more until I go and 'clear data' for the market app.
I give up! Looks like I am stuck with what I have on the phone + whatever I can get for free.
Have emailed google, will update thread should they bother to respond.
Market version is 3.4.4 | Download Manager is 2.3.5
Have you vosited web version of market?
Market.android.com login with google acc.
You will see your purchased appl there, if u can see there, click on install from there, it will start installing to ur device remotely
Try it
Hi
Yep, tried that - does not work. I can initiate the installation of free apps from the market on a pc, but not paid apps. The paid app I am trying to install is listed as having been successfully purchased. Looks like a bug/glitch, but one I am going to have to wait for google to fix.
Do you have the Amazon app market installed?

This issue seems to be with KL3 onwards and region or could be csc dependent, the only fix for this is to use the older market version the 2.6.x
try going into recovery mode and choose fix permission
Hi
Well, I got an auto response from google 'we are looking into it', but no emails since. Tried again this morning, and everything just started working again. Whether this was an issue with the market, my market account, my google wallet account etc is unknown.
I'd like to know the reason so I can fix it if it happens again, but at least its now working again.
@ericshmerick: Nope, no amazon app market. I don't believe this works in the UK
Nigel
The exact same thing is happening to me were you able to eventually get the apps you purchased its been about two days and the problem persists I have filed a support case with Google happening on two phones and a tablet ans the web market through a PC isn't working either. It seems to get stuck at authorizing the payment .

This was a big problem two weeks ago. I think the CheckROM guys figured out how to fix it. Their forum has a nice FAQ at the start. Have a look there. If that doesn't help then wade through the Rocket forum.

so playing with the family link loop where it
Then:
Installed the four APKs needed to install Google Play Store: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ama...-fire-t3486603
Installed the Family Link Manager APK. I posted it here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eV...aZYYsd-2E1351C
Launched Google Play Store
Signed in as my child
It asks which parent is setting up the device. I choose myself.
Got a warning about Android 5 and not be able to control an apps permissions after approving.
Then, a message that Family Link Manager needs to be installed. I already installed it at this point.
Checking Info...
It asks for a name for the Device
Asks which installed apps should be blocked
Then I get a screen that says, "Next, you'll activate Family Link Manager, which helps parents..."
After clicking next, I get a screen that says, "This profile manager is required for Google Accounts managed with Family Link." The only option is to click, "GOT IT." I then end up on the previous, "Next, you'll activate..." screen. If I click NEXT there, I see the same, "This profile manager is required..." screen. The process is now stuck in this loop
but if i try the loop 3 times i can not use google play,. but i have to redo this every 2nd day or so... it wont quite stay/finalise sign in
how can i stop this
I am also having this issue. Have you figured it out?
I found no solution for now . ...
Theres no fix for this. I think the fire is missing a option that family link assumes is there
Try it to factory reset or hard reset and re-install the Google Services
Another solution: https://screentimelabs.com/help/how-to-uninstall-google-family-link/
if you get the manager apk from another device, you can get one step further. however, it continues until it gets to the step where it wants to activate the device manager and the screen for an instant shows, but then goes to a "are you sure you want to cancel" screen.
If you activate the device manager manually, unfortunately, it still shows the same screen.
