Hello everyone, we are a group of HD7 lovers having a hottest HD7 forum in China, and want to share our experience with you worldwidely.
Most of us purchased T-mobile version HD7, some are htc version. We can use "China Mobile" or other operators SIM card, with good reception of telephone, SMS, GPRS & 3G , but many HD7s can not flash ROMs. My HD7 shows "Security Unlocked" on top of Bootloader Mode, can flash different rooms such as RUU_Schubert_O2_DE_1.61.207.01, RUU_Schubert_TMOUS_1.20.531.01, RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE. But others are without "Security Unlocked", can only flash few rooms like RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE.
Following questions puzzled me for a long time, we want some help:
1. There are lots of HD7 unlocking service selling about $15 online, do we need to buy it, since we can use local SIM on T-mobile HD7? Is this kind of unlocking service meaning "network unlock"?
2. For those can not flash ROMs, is that because of SPL locked? What does "Security Unlocked" mean? How we can flash other operators ROMs?
Also, our HD7 can display Chinese language, but we need Chinese input inbuild WP7 so badly. Now we are using free apps such as "Chinese SMS", "Lights Chinese Type", but we are looking forward someone maybe can help to develop inputs. Otherwise we can only waiting for Msft release Chinese ROMs, which is unknown date.
Thank you so much for your concern.
Regards.
1, is only to sim unlock the phone (and nothing more)
2, sec unlocked is that you can flash all the STOCK rom's (and only stock rom's , and radios but that isn't that interesting for you)
what you could do :
look for someone that can make a working goldcard (fakes the sec unlock , so you can flash all the stock rom's)
or you can wait for Hspl/sec unlock
but your main problem is the input language and that will take long (the system isn't hacked )
I think that MS is faster with lang updates then the hackers can crack the system.
so I say wait for the updates .
Thank you sooo much for your detail reply.
I want to know more about goldcard for HD7 sec unlock, where i can find more info in the forum or some websites?
Best regards.
And what does "security unlocked" on bootloader mode mean ?

a goldcard is a file that you put on a sd card (for the hd7 you need a "Y-cable to connect a cardreader to the phone and an external power supply ) this is a generated Key that bypass the vendor ID checking (you can flash all the stock rom's)

this mean that the bootloader is security unlocked (no need of a goldcard) and that you can flash all the stock rom's you can get your hands on and you can flash radio rom's from different phones (DON'T try to flash radio rom's that at this point in time)
here is a link where you can get a goldcard http://psas.revskills.de/
security unlocking isn't available now (hackers need to crack the stuff they need for sec unlocking)
Thank you for your time, Ceesheim.
Want to discuss with you more. Hope that won't bother you. I bought T-mobile HD7 online and I think it is the original pack directly "imported" from the USA, because there is a T-mobile SIM inside, and the accessories are not unpacked. IMEIs all match.
Here is my question again, i assume the first buyer in the USA unlocked the DH7 network so that he can sell it in China or other countries (nobody will buy HD7 if can't make calls), but i dont know how he did "security unlocked". I bet some Americans know how to do it.
I also keep update with Ansar's development. He is doing a great job. But i think there are many firends in this forum can not flash Stock ROMs or Custom ROMs, even those made by Ansar. If we could find out what happened behind "security unlock", maybe it is good for all of us, bcz we can flash all rooms.
I flashed this ROM for the first time (looks like a SingTel Rom, with some SingTel apps):
RUU_Schubert_hTC_Asia_SEA_WWE_1.57.728.02_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10_Signed,
Now i am using this (without any operators apps, but with 5 lang packs):
RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.60.401.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10_Signed_SCHUBERT_RELEASE
Here are some pics of my HD7.

the first buyer didn't do the sec unlock (only sim unlock I think) , HTC did that . as we speak only HTC can sec unlock the hd7 (there are alot phones htc delivered unlocked , but don't ask me way not all phones are unlocked)
and here you see the different , I can only flash O2 DE rom's (I am not sec unlocked) , you can flash HTC_Europe , hTC_Asia_SEA actually every stock rom .
goldcard is the only thing to bypass the phone right now and it allows you to flash every stock rom there is .
Understood now, you are really awsome.
Thanks for all your help

I know there are many threads asking the same question, and I've looked through many, but still haven't find an answer to my problems.
Just to clarify, my phone is not rooted, nor flashed, and I'm planning to leave it that way as long as possible, unless I really can't find any other solution for upgrading my phone
I've bought my phone in December, sim free, at mobile phone store in Serbia, and judging by the manuals language that I got in the box, its most likely imported from Hungary.
As soon as I've powered it on and connected to internet, I've got an update (OTA), which I installed as soon as I got home and plugged the phone to charger. Since then, I haven't got a single update, whenever I manually check I get "No updates!", and Kies says I have latest firmware, but im stuck on KK5 :S
It not big deal for now (even though I see that many people report improvements in newer firmwares, and I would also like that), but what about the ICS upgrade that will come in next month or two ?
Is there any way to force update, without flashing it manually or rooting the phone, or I'm stuck with this for good?
Is there anyone I can contact regarding this question who can give me any estimations ? Who is responsible for updates for sim free phones ?

If samsung have not still released new Firmware for your area, you won't get it.
Samsung never announce regarding release date for any ROM, Any region. You have to just wait till you get it.
Nobody can give you exact date of ICS release. wat we hearing is you can consider as Rumor.
You have always option to update your device manually. You can find all details in links of my signature.
May be CEO samsung Mr. H. B. Lee can answer, but i dont know how to contact
Thanks for your reply!
Well, I've read all your tutorials for now, and I will use them when I decide to start with rooting + flashing
What about that region changing ? There is no possibility to change region and get updates ?

Ya, you can change the region, but you'll wipe your phone.
Sorry to hijack the thread.
my 'about phone' is exactly the same as OPs, to the last detail. My handset was bought in the UK, and is unrooted as yet.
I'm on XEU csc and as far as I'm aware, I SHOULD have had an update by now? yet it still has not arrived. is this normal for a UK note XEU with KKA kernel/ KK5 baseband?
many thanks.

So its totally safe, and I will get updates for sure if I do that ?
My warranty wont be void ?
How do I do that, and what is the best region to choose ?

@turshija
i am also still on KK5. I am not sure what you expect from new update. Until official ICS update, you only can expect some small things, like safety patches. What i red on forums, latest update have only changes on keyboard (added numbers), and for me its not something special.
You will lose your warranty if you root your SGN, and i agree with you to not flash the phone during warranty period. Its not so cheap toy
On other hand, when i bought my alternative phone 2 years ago (HTC HD2), i installed Android after few days, because Windows made me felling like a grandfather. I am still playing with my HD2 after few hundreds times flashed ROMs, and now i am on ICS...and still enjoying my HD2 flashing and playing )), but comparing with SG Note, HD2 must be alternative phone
P.S. - We have absolutely the same version of SGN
@turshija and @tanzemyu, I too have identical version to you. Mine was bought from carphone warehouse in UK. At the last OTA upgrade (to 2.3.6 KKA) my phone wasn't rooted at the time, and I got it OTA - but a couple of weeks after the update was announced for carrier-free phones. I think it's therefore likely that CPW are for some reason holding up the OTA upgrade.
When 2.3.6 was out but I hadn't got it OTA, I looked into trying to change my CSC in order to get the OTA update but I found that CPW have put a non-changeable sales code on my phone "CPW" and I don't have the option to change the CSC.
As I'm now rooted I'm going to flash the update myself when I get around to it (as I think you lose root if you do an OTA??) - but IF you also bought from Carphone Warehouse, it's maybe worth you waiting anther week or too just in case an OTA upgrade does eventually arrive (I can't see why it wouldn't?)
Mine is identical. And it's from phones4u.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
I want to change my nexus 4 for a moto X but I hate to lose the "nexus liberty", in other words I don't want go back to a smartphone that I can't get root. I read in XDA forums the jcase root for motoX 4.4 version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538896) but in the first step he said (I quote):
"You need to get the camera update from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost/list.php and flashing back to it. You must be 100% stock before continuing."
I'm from colombia and i saw that Skrilax_CZ have the ClaroColombia image, but i'm not have that carrier and if I get the motoX will be from other carrier named TIGO Colombia, so my question is that the ClaroColombia image works with the TigoColombia phone. If not, someone can help me to find the TigoColombia image?
Yours will probably be boot loader unlockable so you can just flash root
If you are bootloader locked then it will not let you flash anything other than what you phone is supposed to have to feel free to give that a shot. You can probably bootloader unlock however and save yourself the trouble of using the exploit to gain root. Also once you are bootloader unlocked if that devices is model xt1053 you can flash just about every image out right now for tmobile or other xt1053 carriers.

OK, finally I have all the information.
The motoX of Tigo Colombia with the camera update patch is:
Model: X1058
Baseband version: MSM8960PRO_BP_2323.020.90.00R
System version: 139.12.37.ghost_row.Latam.en.CO
Compilation number: 13.9.0Q2.X-116-LCX.37
The phone is from a friend of my
So as i see it (correct me if i'm wrong please) I have three options for root:
1- Don't do it and life with that
2- Do it via Custom recovery and superSU-chainfire
3- Via SlapMyMoto xploit with the images of Skrilax_CZ (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost/list.php)
The option #2 implies the use of TWRP or another recovery. I actually have a nexus 4 with a custom recovery and when I upgrade android via OTA the phone goes to a bootloop, with the nexus it's easy to solve because google publish the factory images. With the motoX it's another question...........
The option #3 implies use the factory image of Skrilax_CZ (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost/list.php) but as i said when I open the [Q] i don't know what factory image i can use. Hopefully with the info above someone can tell me what image i can use or if i can't use any at all.

I have an Xperia Z C6616 (Bell PentaBand LTE model)
For the longest time I was running a generic UK C6606 ROM on it with no problems.
Recently I went to sell it so I flashed the stock Bell ROM again.
Unfortunately after this flash something seems to have gone haywire.
Everything works fine except for calls and texting.
I can even browse the internet using H+ but I cannot complete a call.
It tells me that it is connected to the Home network but yet it shows me the notification of 'Selected Network Unavailable'
Here is what I have tried so far:
Reflashing generic UK ROM
Reflashing Bell 4.2.2 ROM
Reflashing Bell 4.3 ROM
Returning to stock via Sony PC Companion using 'Repair my phone'
Nothing seems to have worked. I still cannot make phone calls or send/receive texts.
It tells me that the 'Mobile network not available' whenever I attempt to make a call.
What have I done?
Is this recoverable? What else can I try?

Bump. Please help.
Bell won't honor warranty because I dont have an account with them.
And they told me that even if I did...
Because I unlocked the phone, I have voided my warranty.
Wtftftf?
I just have $350 paper weight now.
TL;DR reply: No!
Standard reply: The 6616 is a North American carrier-specific handset, in your case, Bell . The bootloader status of your phone must have been LOCKED, with Bell specific bloat pre-loaded with your ROM. If you've flashed GB 6603 ROM, then you have got the bootloader unlocked (whether by Bell unlock code or from any other paid service). The phone was sold subsidised by the carrier with a precondition that you/the original owner accepts a two year locked-in period with Bell (contract phone). Unlocking the bootloader simply voids your warranty or any hopes of getting a replacement/refund/service from Bell. The best option for you is to obtain paid service from Sony, (dunno if that may work or not). My sympathies.....

So firstly, thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.
I'm not too concerned with the warranty refusal from Bell. I'm working to do something about it.
I have NOT unlocked the Bootloader. I have only loaded Official Sony ROMS which do NOT require a locked bootloader.
This phone does not let you unlock the bootloader.
I just did the network unlock which they said also voided the warranty.
My main concern is whether I can try something to fix this.
If there is a HARD reset or something.
Is there anything from my side that I can try?
In terms of rooting the phone or looking at some diagnostic tool or loading some other official Rom?
Thanks once again for the reply.

Have you fixed your problem? if yes, how? thanks
Hello guys, I know that there are similar threads and I'm sorry for posting, but I have some specific questions. Having the phone for over two months, I want to try some custom roms.
However in service menu says that the bootloader cannot be unlocked, and I really frustrated. My previous phone was xperia mini and I used to change roms every week!
Anyway, I have done some research and found that some guys managed to change the status from no to yes. One flashed a relock. Ftf. An other flashed some kind of custom stock stock Rom.
But I'm not willing to risk my device by testing those methods. What do you think? Is there any workaround?
I'm running a pre rooted lollipop rom.
Please help!
cmon! guys, help a little!
You can't unlock it. You can only flash custom ROMs which use a stock kernel, so things like CyanogenMod are out.

What if I try using any method? Will it brick?
It can't be done, if it says no that's it I'm afraid. Sony have it locked down pretty well. Only way to get that to a yes is change your device to one that says bootloader unlock allowed YES.

ok guys, i gav eit a try (using sony's official method and flashtool) and nothing happened. Anyway, I guess that i must live with it. Have you any good roms/ kernels to recommend?
You need to unlock your device (to get it work on other carriers), then reclaim to Sony. Full instructions here: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=779828 (Spanish forum).

You bootloader just can not be unlocked mate. Try trading your device out for a different one which allows unlocking bootloader or just install ROMs that don't require custom kernels. I'd recommend this ROM:

You see Sony greece isn't Sony Spain

You bootloader just can not be unlocked mate. Try trading your device out for a different one which allows unlocking bootloader or just install ROMs that don't require custom kernels. I'd recommend this ROM:

You can't install custom roms on locked bootloader. You can't unlock your bootloader if in status it says unlock not allowed, which means your bootloader is encrypted. This happens if you bought either a carrier branded device or the one made for a specific market, such as Malaysia. Some governments require OEMs to close down their bootloaders forever.
In theory, it is possible to hijack one of init scripts and redirect it to load a custom rom, but you can't change or modify kernel, which means that once the OEM abandons your device, as it happened with Z1-Z3, you won't be getting any security updates... . The last time it was done (hijacking init script) was on Xperia ION. To have custom roms, you need to get another device...
Mine did say bootloader cant be unlocked. I had bad battery so I gave it to service and service did change battery, and they did install stock rom because I had flashed phone. And phone came with unlocked bootloader yes so I did unlock it official way. I didnt find any good 7.0 update and I locked it back via flashtool. So think before you try to do it, you cant use PC-Companion after you unlock bootloader.
Hi Guys,
Can someone please give me some advise? I am currently in China and bought a Redmi Note 12 Pro. I am from Europe and like to have all the Google apps including chrome and maps. I have installed Play already on this phone and all works quite well. However i cannot use the search bar as it only has the option of 2 Chinese search engines.
Can someone tell me if it is possible to install the India Rom on this phone and if so will i have free access to Play and google as a search engine?
Thank
Al

Flash india rom
But I found the nfc not working after flashed india rom
@galenzha0
Thank you so much for the response. I can probably live without NFC until a fix or a global rom comes out.

Can you flash india rom on stock recovery? The person using this phone won't care about NFC
...and I'm rusty as hell with flashing, so would need instructions, I dunno if you use twrp - I can't find a version for this phone with a quick look
........
It's OK I flashed the india rom and it shows as global in the about phone section, don't care a bit about NFC so I'm happy

I've unlocked and flashed the Indian Rom V13.0.4.0.SMOINXM using MiFlash
It boots into the Recovery Screen saying "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
Am I doing anything wrong?

keep bootloader unlock ed
You can't re-lock the bootloader on a rom for a different region, you have bricked your device. Try reflash (in fastboot mode) the chinese stable rom from here LINK
Then reflash the india rom but choose the following pic choice.
And read this below first
PSA: Flashing MIUI Global on these Xiaomi devices may brick your device
If you flash MIUI Global ROM on certain Xiaomi devices with a locked bootloader, your device will not boot. Here are the Xiaomi devices that could brick.

All Xiaomi smartphones and tablets will have anti-rollback protection enabled. What is it and how do you avoid bricking your device because of it?

Thanks galenzha0!
It worked for me!
Will I be able to re-lock when the Global Rom be released?
I've flashed a Poco X3 Pro from EEA to Indonesian (to get the call recording enabled) with the same procedure and it worked after re-locking the phone!
I didn't understand very well why I couldn't re-lock at this time!
Thanks

You can't relock it , Xiaomi are preventing it because people were buying chinese imports cheap, flashing global roms and selling them at higher prices. For now, your bootloader stays unlocked whatever rom you install that isn't the region specific software.

OMG!
Didn't know about, otherwise I wouldn't buy the Redmi Note 12 Pro til the Global!
The issue for now is NFC (Google Pay Contactless) and some apps like banking that doesn't work if you unlock the device.
Do you guys have any advice or should I return it to the seller while I still have time?
No, you will be able to install the global rom when it is released, however you will (unless there is an exploit) have to keep your bootloader unlocked. I think banking apps and Gpay complain more about rooting then bootloader but don't quote me on that, I'm not sure and it's early days.... Its a good hanset give it time
Had this guy help me since he has an authorized account: [email protected]
I ended up bricking my phone trying to sort it out, but he fixed it with the special Unlock Tool.
Got the factory ROM loaded and bootloaded locked. Can now use Google Apps including Google Pay/Wallet.

What is the factory rom? I only see India (no nfc/gpay etc) and Chinese so far. I didn't mind the chinese rom but there were still portions of it that hinged on the language.
