[Q] Failed doing backup using Rom Manager - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
I installed Froyo 2.2 using ODIN, all was OK.
I tried performing backup using Rom Manager and got the following errors during the recovery/reboot step:
-- Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi- CSC
Installation aborted
Additional info about the phone:
Firmware version - 2.2
Baseband version - I897UCJI6
Build number - FROYO.UCJI6
how can I make the backup work?
thanks

You can not use rom manager or clockwork recovery with the leaked froyo. You can backup all your apps using titanium backup provided you are rooted
Sent from my SCH-I897 using XDA App

Are there other limitations with the leaked Froyo?
is there any other utility that provides a full backup of the phone, or is it enough to use the Titanium backup?
thanks

You already have it written right there in front of your nose.
You need to flash the ZIPs by using ClockworkMod Recovery 3.x.x.x and NOT xRecovery.

[Q] Error Flashing Evervolv 2.1.0 (Signature Verification)

Hey, I'm pretty new to xda so feel free to point out anything I did wrong when creating this post...
I downloaded the Evervolv 2.1.0 build added March 1st on a thread started by jaybob413, and have been able to flash it fine and use it, but that thread has been closed and redirected to MattCrystal's thread using the same build.
I have downloaded the rom from the link that was posted, but haven't been able to flash it. I'm using Amon Ra recovery 1.6.2.
This is the error I get when verifying update package:
E:Wrong digest:
system/build.prop
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
When doing some research, I saw that people were saying to "toggle signature verification" under the "other" menu of recovery in the event it's unsigned, but all I see is "Fix apk uidmismatches", "Move apps+dalv", and "Move recovery.log"
I'm S-ON, is that a potential problem?

The option to toggle signatures is in clockworkmod recovery.
There's a thread with the latest recoveries by dastin. That should fix it.

I flashed CWM and didn't need to toggle signature verification, but flashed the ROM fine. Now I just have to look into the red border bug... Thanks!

FAQ N°10
Ah OK sorry that I not read the faq correctly it's the update binary. Iodak must changed it or we do it by ourselves to flash kernel
Dear Philz,
The issue is specific to the recovery bcz Iodak v9 can be flashed through the cwm touch recovery 6.4.4, no status 7 error.
I have tested this with both your recovery and cwm.
Regards,
Kanad

I believe you need to edit updater script to flash the kernel

Had to install this recovery cause of latest official wasn't working with cyandelta. So far so good. Love all the interface options. It really takes recovery to another level. Great work!

works very well for me
Flash this but couldn't restore my backup with it. Keeps saying that it couldn't find my backup on /sdcard. My backup is on the internal SD Card and it seems that this recovery is looking somewhere else. Can this be fixed? Thanks.

EDIT [solved]. Slimkat - updating ROM

EDIT:
Thread can be closed. Problem solved. I thougt that my phone is "supported" and the version 7.8 is the latest (d2lte). However d2lte is similar phone, and Slimkat for i9305 is ported (but very well ported). I wanted to install ROM for different phone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I wanted to update my Slimkat ROM 7.2.1 to newer version because I was little confused by little bugs (ROM is very stable and great) and most of all "not translated everything" to my language.
I downloaded latest version for my i9305 (d2lte=i3905 at the slimkat website) and put into sd card, then run CWM Recovery, did wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition. Then I wanted to install Slimkat but after "Mounting" I got error (without any specific name) and I couldn't update. I tried several times, I formatted later also dalvik cache and /system, tried with 7.4 and 7.6 versions but still I'm getting the same problem. I did everything also with "installation FAQ" at slimkat website. I can only install 7.2.1 How can I install newer versions?
EDIT: I tried to change ROM to Stock (4.3 downloaded via sammobile), next install again CWM and Slimkat 7.8 but.... the same error.
I'm getting:
"-- Installing: /storage/sdcard1/Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.7.8-WEEKLY-6269.zip
Finding update package...
Opening udpdate package...
Installing update...
<here is ASCII slimkat logo>
Format and Mount Systen. Mount Data...
E: Error in /storage/sdcard1/Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.7.8-WEEKLY-6269.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted."
And thanks all.
