Hi.
I'm experiencing a problem on my Samsung Galaxy S with official Froyo (through Kies).
My friends are telling me that I'm resending messages. That happens when I turn on the Galaxy; it usually resends the last 2/3 messages that I sent before I turned off the phone (even when the message delivery is successful).
Is someone experiencing something like this? Does anyone knows how to fix it?
Thank you very much for your help.

Could be a network problem. I have seen a few networks which resend messages. Are you being charged for all of them or just one?

Thank you for your reply.
Fortunately SMSs are free on my plan, so I can't be sure if I'd be charged. This never happened before when I had my old N70, so I'm assuming it's not a network problem. Since I bought the phone recently I really think it is upgrade-related, because no one ever told be of resent messages when I had Eclair.
I can't be sure, though. I thought someone would be having this issue as well.

Very strange thing with my Tab. Anyone heard of anything like this? So that I could have data on my Tab I got a 3 data only SIM for about £5 a month for 1gb. Phone calls and texts would be charged for but I never make or send any as I use my Galaxy S for that. Just seen my last bill and spoken to 3 because, according to them, I have sent 5 texts to Singapore from my Tab, including another one only a couple of hours ago. My text history on the Tab is empty!
They have no explanation (other than asking if anyone else could have sent them) but have dealt with it very reasonably by agreeing to credit me the cost of the texts and putting a block on any future charges other than than the monthly charge for the data, athough that means I cannot make calls or send texts if eg my Galaxy S battery is flat.
Could any apps be sending texts which don't show up in the text log? Has anyone had anything like this?

Its an app you have installed at some point, a rogue app which is sending text messages.
Check all your apps permisions and make sure one of them does not have a permission to send sms message (only a few apps need this permission, like a message app, etc).
Hope that helps.
Did you purchase the tab from singapore, perhaps branded to Singtel, m1 or starhub? It could those special messages the device is sending to the telcos.

OK I've found the 'culprit'. I got the Singapore number off 3 and Google showed me I am not the first. It is down to WaveSecure, which I got while it was still free. I see it is now owned by McAfee. I've found that my Galaxy S also sent a text to them. I knew it could send texts but didn't realise they are to Singapore! Uninstalling now.
Hope that helps anyone with a similar issue.

Hi,
this never happened to me before on my Legend.
I'm using handcent sms, but don't know if it has something to do with that, with the OS (used handcent on my Legend too) or my carrier provider.
When I write loads of sms with a friend, it happened already 3 times that suddenly I got a reply from someone completely unknown (unknown number), informing me about that he/she (wrongly) received this sms from me that should have been sent to my friend. My friend then didn't get that sms, although it's correctly listed in the appropriate sms "thread" for my friend's contact and NOT in the new thread created for this unknown number.
Has anyone experienced this before?
I think it's even more strange since this number isn't in my contacts and it's completely unrelated (not just a few numbers swapped, but a completely different carrier).
Has anyone experienced something like that?
This happened to me 2 times on stock Froyo and yesterday on Gingerbread..
Thanks for any help
Max
That's due to a bug with Android itself.
This was fixed with version 2.3.3, so if you get your self a GB(2.3.3) rom, all will be good.
That's strange, I'm already on gingerbread.. still it happened yesterday or the day before.
Handcent is your culprit!
Got myself into a LOT of trouble with the right msg going to the wrong person... LOL
get yourself chomp which is better in this aspect
or use the default app..
I'm experiencing a strange problem. I recently upgraded to a note 3 and my wife recently upgraded to an iPhone 5s. Ever since these upgrades my wife has not been receiving my SMS messages. She is able to receive MMS messages from me. Others that have the 5s can receive SMS from me. Had anyone else experienced this?

you didn't de-register from iMessage..you have to do this otherwise it'll keep going to your inactive apple acct..the geniuses over at the genius bar didn't tell you that I suppose
I don't think this is it. I had a Note 2 before upgrading to the Note 3 and I didn't experience this problem with the Note 2. I've been on the phone with AT&T tech support on this issue and they now suspect something is wrong with my wife's iPhone 5S because they can see the message getting sent from my device (Note 3) to her device (iPhone 5S) across their network. Yet it doesn't show on her phone. Actually, just yesterday my wife received all of the SMS messages I've sent to her over the last few days all at once -- something like 24 messages. So far she's been receiving my SMS messages as normal now since they all came in at once yesterday so I don't know what the problem was. Tech support wanted her to do a factory reset on her phone, but she didn't do that because it would erase all her text messages.
UPDATE:
I'm pretty confident I know how to duplicate the problem now. This seems to happen when I turn on SMS support in Google Hangouts. I'm using Hangouts build 2.0.217 and as soon as I enable Settings->SMS->Turn on SMS in Hangouts I experience this problem. I have no idea why it happens and why it happens only for a specific phone number. I've turned off that setting and am back with using the stock messenger now. I hesitate to turn it on again because it usually takes a few days for all the messages I send to get to my wife's phone.
Galaxy Note 4. T-Mobile NK4
I've reset it, I've used Odin and this happens on multiple roms.
I have also odin back to NIH and let it upgrade with ota and that still didnt fix it. This is incredibly annoying and has never happened before.
Stay stock and get the issue fixed with tmobile on the phone. Also try sending ur self a pic
Try clearing Cache!
I don't know too much this I just a suggestion not a FIX!
I had the same thing happen a couple days ago....only from one contact though...turns out it was how thier phone sent the phot. Not my note. Not much help but a lil insight for you
Had this happen the other night and it was only from one person. Turned out to be them. Was getting MMS photos without trouble from others. Just not this one person.

My wife's phone (TMo Note 4, stock, 4.4.4, unrooted) just started doing this last night. She has had issues since day one (she got the phone the day before launch in the mail from TMo) with MMS. Specifically group messaging. She can send out a group message and everyone gets it but when gets replies they all sort back to her individual conversations with those in the group chat. Today she and I both started getting regular SMS extremely late or not at all (I have a Nexus 6, rooted, 5.1) and after a reboot I will get a bunch of old messages flood in but some never get delivered. Everyone seems to be getting all of my messages and everyone seems to be getting all of hers (except me).
Any ideas?
Ok everyone figured I'd come here to where the experts live. Haven't been here in awhile.
Recently my S8, wifes S8, and our sons S8+ all have the same issues.
The first issue is texts get stuck "sending". This happens with WiFi on or off, with wifi calling on or off, and I even tried changing off LTE to just 4G/3G/2G and even 2g in settings to see if that would help. I'm on the latest firmware from TMO ending in QEF, well we all are.
The other one is apps like FB and others aren't alerting but they will show the number of alerts even after they've been checked. I've reinstalled these apps and the problem persists, and then I can reboot my phone or wifes phone and all the alerts start working again for awhile and then die eventually.
The texting issue though persists and is random when it will hang and when it doesn't.
According to TMO rep at the store it's a bug in the firmware with bixpy that was pushed out, but I frankly don't buy it and figured I'd hit the guru's up here and see if you guys have any thoughts.
Thanks in advance guys and gals....
I too have had the random "texts get stuck sending" issue. I haven't had it in a while though (now that I've said that I'm sure I will).
I unfortunately don't have any suggestions.
I ended up using googles version of messages due to this. Only on stock text app do i have any problems anymore. I also noticed on the stock app that my phone would say "sending" when the other side would actually get it, but it was at random.
You don't have a cellspot repeater or router do you? Last time I had it, my device was hung and needed reboots. Just a thought.
Thanks for the feedback, yes I have a cell spot, but I also have the issue other areas of town too with no real specific place thatbit always happens.
I'm going to reverse back from the qef firmware and see if that resolves things. This has been so annoying, and it just started about two weeks ago.
Thanks again everyone.
I have had the same issue with sending texts too. I have been using the stock messenger app. I may just switch to textra.
Same issue here. A temporary fix, try turning on airplane mode and off. Works for me a times
Also happening to me on the XAA firmware (have unlocked NA variant) with the stock messaging and Google messages.
So I'll ask the question begging to be asked (at least by me): How does one disable this messaging app and use "stock messaging" app?
Thanks in advance....

Just get a app disabler for Samsung from play store like BK Disabler.
If I were you, just download Android Messages. It's simple and fast.
However, I do not recommend disabling stock messaging, unless you don't like getting EAS (Amber/Weather/Presidential Alert)
Having the exact same issues and it's driving me crazy because I really like this phone. I don't get notifications for any of my apps but when I open them I can see the new messages. A reset seems to fix the problem but it only lasts about an hour before it starts doing the same thing. I've tried using different messaging apps but the same thing. And the fact that I don't get notifications for other apps it can't just be a text messaging issue right?
Happened to me for almost 2 months but haven't had an issue in about a week. Called t mobile, they created a ticket and said they'll be working on it. Few days after speaking to them, problem went away.
This has been happening intermitantly for me as well. It's been bad the past three days. I'm currently in coversations with T-mo's engineering team and they seem to be coming up with a bunch of dead ends. It's not a location based thing as it's been happening over a 20 mile radius in the past few days for me. Other people on T-mo network that I'm freinds with or I work with aren't having any problems. I'm wondering if just a fresh SIM card could solve it?
I have data connection although it seems a little sluggish compared to when I originally got the phone. Similar to OP I've tried all the "G's" modes, with wifi calling on, with it off, with cellular network preffered with wifi calling on and off. With Textra, with stock messaging app. I've factory reset to no avail. I've pulled and re-inserted the SIM card to no avail. This is incredibly frustrating for a flagship phone on a network where I've had no previous issues.
UPDATE: T-Mobile sent me a new SIM card and that seems to have cleared up the issues. Not sure if it just hapened to coincide with T-Mo tower fixes or anything else like that in my area but I'm back to normal operation. Anybody else experiencing this I recommend you push customer service to send you a new sim.
my husband and i are having a strange issue where we can message pictures and video clips to other people that don't have the s8, or aren't on tmobile and they'll send and receive just fine, but when we try to send to each other, the first attempt to send fails, but the second attempt goes through?
