Hi all,
Have a kind of brick at the moment.
Whats working:
Download mode
Recovery e3
The device is booting up, but I did the wrong battery mod for this firmware so it just vibrats and turns on and of.
The PC doesn`t recognize the device, it just sometimes shows up an unkowm device.
I have found this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777872 and now I have some hope!
I have tried to pick the Kies Driver (16 Shrewsbury) and all the others from Kies and also the google drivers from the SDK. But none from the works.
Someone can point me to the rigth driver, plase
Fortunately I still have my G1
Sorry for my English.
If you have a black screen after booting then try resetting back to factory settings in recovery mode.
Thank you,
I wiped al i could in recovery e3.
The device is booting up, sound is coming, I see even the SGS logo, after No package was found that provides the FACTORY TESTKEYS
I guess it´s becaus I aplyed the wrong battery Mod for my firmware
If your phone can go in download mode try to reflash a rom with odin
I allways extract the latest kies install file to hdd and pick the latest drivers setup package out of it. I NEVER installed kies just to get some drivers

If you can get into download mode then Heimdall will be able to detect your phone using either Windows or Linux. Heimdall works on OS X also however a fixed bootloader is required.
update:
i installed the driver on my pc from softpedia
i restarted my pc and odin can recognize my phone now
i flashed froyo rom and its not working . i will try another rom and see what will happen
i installed 2.1 rom followed by 2.2 rom and its working like a charm
problem solved
thanx
I can't find a solution to this on the forum so hopefully someone here can advise me.
I can get into download mode, the phone has stock JVQ on it, i have installed the galaxy s drivers, updated kies to make sure the drivers are the latest (I've also installed the drivers from a standalone file - version 1.3.450.0).
I have used Odin v1.7 and 1.85 both show no sign of the phone.
I recently formatted the SD card and the USB portion using the phone's in built function... that may be the issue... can anyone suggest what files are missing from the phone to get it recognised in download mode?
I'm currently downloading the Nexus S drivers but I ain't too hopeful.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!! Thanks
Ok so somehow the phone got itself recognised, i was installing the Android SDK and the Java JDK to see if i could install the nexus s drivers and at some stage (after JDK was installed) i uplugged the phone from my computer and heard a beep that said i'd disconnected something...
I tried Odin again and it worked... froze at setup connection but took the battery out and it is now downloading the magic... the internet is amazing!!
ok so now it's bootlooping, can't figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions? I get JVQ installed and it's rooted then when I try flash the latest ICS RC13 it goes into bootloop
Edit: Ok so it seems that bootlooping is an issue a few people are seeing. Anyone got any suggestions on how to address it? the two I have are
1. just let it boot loop for 20 mins and it might fix itself
2. don't wipe the dalvik/cache....
anything else?
Flash the kernel from the cm9 rom with heimdall/odin in download mode

Try this, first turn off by pulling your battery and again enter the download mode and follow the steps in this article https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-flashing-to-original-rom.46/

I assume by "install Android" you mean you attempted to flash a new ROM?
What ROM did you try to flash?
How did you install the drivers?
If you installed the drivers using Kies and the ROM was a ICS version you will have to install the correct drivers from here
If you have installed Samsung Kies you will need to make sure that all Kies process are killed. If you are not sure how to do this Uninstall Kies.
If Odin can now detect your phone you will be able to flash a new ROM.
Okey... problemare with bootloder chip or system... so its it phone problem... I bringit to tehnic and they fix it...after that i hope instal the darknight5.5 ROM
Install the latest Kies. Before you install a file Gingerbread off three processes Kies and firewall
Hello everybody!
I've tried to find a solution, but without success.
Today I tried to install CWM on a french Galaxy S.
I've rooted the phone with z4root and after I started on download mod with adb.
Then with Odin3 I installed this file "Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v2.7-CWM3RFS.tar".
After that the phone rebooted automatically, unfortunately it's rebooting eachtime on the galaxy s logo.
The problem are that I can't boot on download mod or on CWM.
When the phone is off and I plug it on charger, it doesn't charge!
I think my phone is bricked.
Do you think you can help me or it's dead?
Is there a hard reboot procedure or something like that?
Thanks
I have exactly the same problem!
Are you sure you can't enter recovery? Volume up+home+power.

Yes i'm 1000% sure!
I can acess the Download Mode, but Odin/Heimdall does not recognize the USB connection...
Keep Trying
I know this is weird but keep hard resetting it. Try like 20 more times before you give up. Worked for me in the past I know it is weird. I had just flashed a new factory ROM.
I swear i have tried to enter the Recovery 20-30 times!!
It's fine
Hello,
I've bought an USB JIG for my SGS GT i9100 and I've been able to install ICS SLIM using Odin v3 1.7.
Very easy...
I advise this solution..
Thanks for your help.

did u try vol down + home + power button to go to download mode? if it can do that, the problem is just find some driver to make odin recognize your phone. search for "usb driver for samsung galaxy s" in google
then you can bring back your phone to live by downloading any rom you want and flash it via odin
ps. but if you cannot go to download mode, JIG USB with 301 K ohm will help you look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0
Same problem here, I actually didn't see this in my search and made a new thread about it (feel free to delete). My computer had KIES on it so it had the drivers already and it's the same computer I went through the download mode before with so I have the drivers. I tried to reinstall them but still nothing.
I fear I may need to buy out my contract :crying:

I am sure that I am right with this. "If you root, do not use KIES" so you have to uninstall KIES and download separate USB driver.
Then it should see your phone when connect with ODIN
Hope you got your phone back alive soon

Did you checked usb drivers, if not try to connect another samsung android device to your pc first. if another phone connected properly then problem in your phone only.
i suggest check this thread, if you think you completely lost your device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I reinstalled the drivers I had actually uninstalled KIES and installed just the drivers.
I do have an update though but still can't get it to boot completely. Late last night I decided to try to get download mode to work one last time before passing out and pressing Vol-, Home and Power actually brought me to the recovery screen for the first time in my phone's life! "F YA!" was the only thing I could think at the time so I first went through and formatted/wiped every option I could find then installed the CM9 that I knew worked and now I get to the alien with the matrix-esque background and it stops there. I plugged it in and left it on that screen all night and that guy was still staring at me this morning. I tried download mode again but my computer still doesn't recognize it.
Hello,
I bought a used Galaxy S GT-I9000, firmware 2.1-update1, baseband I9000DTJG3, Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2, build ECLAIR.DTJG4
I thought, no problems, I will upgrade it, however, I haven't been able to do it so far.
First, I downloaded the latest Kies, installed the drivers, but then it told me that Kies 2 doesn't support I9000. I deinstalled it and downloaded Kies 1.5 but then it wouldn't let me upgrade (this device's version cannot be updated error). So, official update is a no go.
Second, I tried to access the download mode with volume up, home, power, but to no avail, neither with volume down, home, power, or volume up and down, power. So I found the way to reboot into download with adb instruction.
Now, when the phone is in download mode, I connected it and installed the driver from Heimdall. I tried flashing CWM through it, but it cannot connect.
I also tried flashing rom with Odin, but it recognizes the phone when it's turned on, however, once it's reboot into download, PC sees the device, but Odin doesn't recognize it, so I cannot update the software from here.
I hope that the above is detailed enough for someone to figure out what is wrong with the phone, and how can I update it at least to GB, but I prefer CM10.
Now it's really buggy, Facebook sometimes works, sometimes not, applications lag, and I know that Galaxy S is a good phone, otherwise I would've bought something else.
I have managed to root the phone via ADB, and I also installed ROM Toolbox. However, it shows no recoveries available and I don't dare try flashing ROM before I have access to a recovery, as my phone boots to recovery only via adb command, no 3button combination works.
I cannot find CWM Rom manager to install on my phone and flash recovery as I9000 is not supported.
Thank you greatly for your support.
