Does anyone know if the square app/device works with the NC? I have a suspicion that the hardware won't work right. Does it need a combined mic and headphone jack to work or will the headphone jack work?

I downloaded the app with the intention of trying it but it will not let me past the location settings page. It says it required to protect the seller and buyer by recording the location of each transaction.
With the device plugged into the headphone jack, I did not hear the unlock sound so if there was a way to spoof the GPS, then it may work.
If bt is unlocked would a bt GPS work?

Just installed the Square app. It loads OK and I was able to processes a transaction. (It didn't bother me for a location.) However, my square reader doesn't work. The app doesn't recognize that it is plugged in.

That was my experience as well. I realize that this is an old thread, but has anyone looked into this more deeply? I was hoping to use my NookColor as a POS terminal with my pen making business.

The card reader acts as a "microphone", but the Nook doesn't have those connections, only headphone, so the card reader is a no go on the Nook.
Rats!
Thanks for letting me know.

The app itself launches, haven't received the card reader yet I doubt it will work but it would be interesting. I haven't tried a transaction manually, but will find out. I know in the video it uses the iPhone UDID, just wondering, any thoughts?
where can you download the app. Dont see it in market and from their website, it directs you to some other app download site that does not work for me
Thanks

Will let you know as soon as they send me the reader. I didn't run it through manually because I just got done adding my bank account. Apparently they will make 2 small deposits then 1 withdrawl for the total and that will confirm your account working within the final steps.
My reader just shipped. Not sure where it's coming from but the company is in San Francisco, St. Louis and NYC. I'm in San Jose so if it's coming from SF, I should get it in a day or two.
should get mine in 2-3 days just got an e-mail
I have the reader and will test it tonight, I'll report back with the results
It detects the reader but does not read any cards.

Most likely because the G Tab is earphones only port, not a earphone/mic port (i'm assuming). The square works on the phones because the ports are the multi purpose type.
That's what I was thinking

I don't think creating an audio out port is the issue. As was mentioned we don't have a mic INPUT port as part of the headphone jack. It is likely just 3 poles instead of 4 to carry the mic signal

BOO so this isnt working?!
wonder if I can switch the jack out
So a TRRS jack?
Considering the mic is below on the left shouldn't be that hard to put in a new TRRS jack then splice into it somehow. Time for an investigation!
No updates yet but got more info on TRRS jacks.
Thought I would bring this back up to the top...anyone got any mod for this to work yet?
Is there a bluetooth keyboard out there that will work on a Verizon SGT? Please help
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
I just bought a Cygnett Bluetooth keyboard for $29.95 at Frys Electronics today that pairedd perfectly with my SGT (T-Mo) and works perfectly well.
I dont see any reason why it would not work with all SGT's.
The thing I like most is it is small enough to fit in the Pelican case that I have for my SGT. I just cut the foam in half, removed the foam for the keyboard and now have a 2 layer foam cushion for the keyboard and SGT.
Well Verizon apparently went into the tab and deleted some bluetooth drivers so it will pair with devices but will not connect. I was just wondering if someone out there got a keyboard to work with their Verizon tab? If they did I would buy it in a heartbeat. Thanks though for replying

Sorry about that, I had not read any of the Verizon BT threads since I am with T-Mo.
I just dont get why service providers do this... If the manufacturer enables something, leave it alone.
I agree 100% my friend. I'm hoping someone will find something that will work. Thanks again.

I posted on the Verizon Community Forum and a Moderator said they were aware of the "issue" and were looking into it. The post is now gone. The thread may disappear too. It is a shame that they decided to remove the feature. I hope a solution is found too.

Check Brando's website out. They have a bluetooth keyboard/leather case combo for $59. Not sure it will work for the Verizon Tab.

It will not. There's no HID driver. Without that, no bluetooth keyboard will work.

If it's due to a lack of drivers, would it not be possible to just copy the drivers from a model that has them?

Who knows? I'm just guessing it's the drivers, perhaps Verizon completely blocked the functionality at a higher level like they did with the dialer. Could be any of a million things and, frankly, $80 for a docking keyboard I could be using in an hour sounds like much less of a hassle.
Yea, same here with me, I'm not in the market for a bluetooth keyboard either, and would most likely be content with a docking keyboard, but it still would be nice to have the functionality there that was intended by the manufacturer. One of the selling points that my VZW salesperson used was the ability to use the Tab with a BT keyboard. I don't imagine he purposely mislead me, especially since I wasn't actually interested in a keyboard. Hopefully there will be a solution in the near future for those who want or need the BT option.
That's messed up on Verizons part. My Freedom Bluetooth keyboard pairs great with my TMo Tab.
FWIW. Freedom Pro keyboard works with my VZW tab.

Possible work around
I wish I could test this right now, but my Tab is back at Samsung being repaired. I have a generic mini Bluetooth keyboard that wasn't working with my Tab or my Captivate. I just got it to work with the Captivate.
I downloaded the drivers for the Freedom Bluetooth Pro keyboard from their site directly through the browser on my device. After installation I had to activate the driver through the "Locale and Text" option in settings. Once activated, paired the keyboard and changed the keyboard to Freedom Pro. Keyboard worked...
I don't know if this will work on the Tab, but i can't wait to get mine back and test it. If anyone gives it a try, let us know how it worked.
I tried what u said with my keyboard but it said since it a keyboard they made it wont connect. which one of their drivers did u download?
thanks
Freedom Pro will work, Sprint starts selling the keyboard for their tab (which is also keyboard locked) on feb 1st for $119.
Verizon and Sprint removed HID support from the Tab, and no HID keyboards will work.
The Freedom Pro's key feature is that it is dual mode: HID And SPP, so the SPP still works.
I'm not sure WHY they did this, unless they just wanted to be jerks. In which case, score!

Not forking over $30 for something that is physically unnecessary. It basically "opens up the ability" to do something the phone can already do.
Yeah, it IS completely unnecessary. I'm thinking that someone should be able to get it working for free soon.

Well I thought I'd give it a stab in the dark. I copied Dockprovider.apk, Dockservice.apk, and Portalapp.apk from Here over to my system/app folder and immediately got system force closes. Rebooted and set permissions in Root Explorer, reboot again.
The only menu available when putting the Bionic into my HD Station is bedside and productivity modes. I have to copy the OEM files back and fix permissions to regain full use of HD Station and HDMI cable.
I'll keep working at it and see if I can modify the files to work on the Bionic, but don't count on anything as this will be learn-as-I-go lol. I sent a message to Fenny who made the post for the Atrix Webtop hack...we'll see what happens.
I just watched a YouTube video of a guy that got the USB host on the Atrix to work outside of webtop using 5V on the power rail..... I would assume some sort of trigger mechanism should be possible with the Bionic and webtop.... I might get one of the $30 webtops and canabolize it to see if i can figure out what in the device triggers webtop. Would be an alternative to modifying the menu to always allow webtop.....
Actually, I wonder if you activate the usb host and plug in hdmi if that will trigger webtop.... I will mess with it this weekend...

Completely doable and done it with car dock and standard dock....
Don't know if you've already seen this elsewhere. But if you either own the car dock or the standard dock (I have both, thanks to Costco) there are 4 screws on the back of the car dock (covered by rubber grommets) remove these rubber grommets and remove the screws, VERY carefully and pull the back cover, and you'll be greeted with a tiny PCB with a cable going to the micro USB connector. The PCB is only clipped in place, so remove gently from the dock body. Slide out the micro USB, connect it to your DB's micro USB slot and connect the HDMI as well and to a display of your choice. As soon as you do so, you will be prompted to select a profile. You will notice the webtop option is now available. Select it.....
The same applies to the standard dock. Remove the rubber feet, unscrew, unscrew PCB and cable management clip....plug in and done.....
Or spend $30 and get yourself a webtop adapter.
Btw, Apple's magic mouse does not work with DB even though you can pair it.
Working Hack to use Webtop without Adapter has been posted HERE
I have been playing with the HTC One Remote for a few days now. No matter what I do I can not get it to work with any of my TV's, Cable Boxes, or Receivers. I am not sure if this is a app issue or a hardware issue. I am not sure how to make sure.
I have put the remote to the Phone and it states the phone learned the function. But when I try to use it on the TV it still will not do anything.
I still have a week to return or exchange the phone. Is there a way I can find out if this is a hardware issue or not? I have done some searching and seems like this App is hit or miss. Did see there is a update coming. It will be after my return period.
Thanks for any help
I just saw somebody post a similar problem with the s4 remote and it was resolved when they cleared the cache on the remote app. Maybe try that?

Can you see a red light (from the IR blaster) when you press a button, say, mute?
You should be able to see it, otherwise it could be defective.
Also, as Blue1k asked, what are your devices?

I just got a hold of someone else HTC One. I tried it in my TV setup and it worked great. So it my phone. So at least I found it out before my 14 days where up.
As I said earlier, you should be able to see a red light. It goes on for a fraction of a second, but it's there and clearly visible.
Well, at least you found it out in time!
Got a new phone. Loving this APP!
Hello Folks,
I have an HTC One with a faulty primary mic, I have concluded it to be a hardware problem because its condition is the same after installing various different custom ROMs (the mic became faulty while on the stock ROM). I am using Viper ROM at the moment.
Now, with this problem, I have to use the mic from my earphones everytime I make a call. I am mostly OK with that, but I am trying to find ways where I should be able to use it without external mic in case I forget to carry my earphones/mic with me.
I was running the HTC Function Test the other day and discovered that my device comes with a secondary mic at the back of the phone, which works absolutely fine when I tested it. The recording (while holding as if I was talking on the phone) and playback from that mic was perfect. It would be really useful if I could either make it my primary microphone (calls, recordings, etc.) or atleast use it for phone calls. I don't know if there is a way from the hardware perspective, but I am quite sure we could do it by changing properties from within the build.
This is my first ever question, and I am counting on this community for the solution.
Cheers!
Not sure if it's possible. But if it's under warranty still why not get it fixed?

Thanks nateboi81, but it's not in warranty anymore... I'd actually be interested to find it's spare part which has the mic to replace it myself.
The primary mic seems to get clogged very easily with dust. I've read a few threads in the past where people thought their mic's were defective but after cleaning out the hole, the mic was working fine again.

That's exactly what I had thought as well, so instead of poking toothpicks into the mic hole, I disassembled my phone, took the mic out, looked at it, cleaned it carefully, assembled my phone back, started it all up... and it just didn't make any difference at all.
I got chocolate clogged in mine after Easter

I ordered the spare via www/parts4repair/com and replaced it. The new microphone works perfectly well. Problem sorted
