No one has ever ported winmo to hd7, and no one is working on it. So, its a no.
Another waste of thread

Why don't you just buy/keep the HD2?

Everything this guy just listed as an improvement and greater quality on the HD7 is a result of the OS, yet he wants to bring it down and move back to a slower, inferior OS... You won't keep the speed and effectiveness on WinMo, sorry, that is all due to the better OS.

considering the hd7 and the hd2 share most of the same hardware, any improvements are strictly because of the new OS which you would kill by putting winmo on it.
This OS is hardware accelerated for the snapdragon chip and gpu, that is what makes it shine.

New Sense UI on HTC hero?

anyone seen this yet?
i have and it looks tasty
if u havent check it out here
http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/24/htc-hero-details-begin-leaking-from-htcs-own-website/
any thoughts on this being ported to a winmo HD?
because it looks so much nicer than touch flo?
post your thoughts people.
My thought is that it will not be ported. It's running on android, and uses android interfaces to communicate with the device.
We could only dream that at some point our blackstones will be able to run android.. These new android phones are starting to make me regret ever getting the HD

According to the HTC press release, HTC Sense will appear on ALL future HTC phones. This should mean that we will see it on Windows Mobile phones soon. Maybe then we will see it ported to the Blackstone.
regret getting a blackstone! take a look at what u just said and re think it! lol
Yeah, I'm a sinner, sorry
bad bad bad abats!
/enjoys blackstone again
Microsoft is so slow on moving with things
Android really looks like taking off. the only thing that prevented me from going android is that it seemed very bandwidth heavy. now seeing hero and android apps ahhh.. what are they doing at microsoft!! come on guys make it easy for me to develop apps!!! get your marketplace going !! come one balmer get onto a stage and do a crazy and get us excited about windows mobile again. wm6.5 is such a cop out.
but why do all android phones have a huge chin! thats another thing letting them down in my opinion, that and that so far they are only on t mobile and voda in the uk......No thanks!

yepp....windows mobile is dying slowly That why my Blackstone is my last WiMo device...iPhone and Android have a bright future...WiMo doesn't.
after more looking this new UI is so nice, widgets and everything, better contacts management and stuff. i want i want i want! please be on a winmo device so it can be ported
android porting to HD is being worked on.. lets keep our fingers crossed
HTC SENSE, looks interesting Let's wait for new cooked rom
lol, maybe chefs here can cook up something =)
Now THAT'S some serious ui!!
Can't wait till some xda-blackstone-chef gets his hands on this one...
it is coming to Windows Mobile accoring to this...http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=5239
crosses fingers for an HD port!
I have to say that this HTC Sense UI looks great and seems to be very user friendly. I believe that sooner or later we will have "Sense" on ours Blackstones Patience...
the htc hero version can't be portet...even if android is running on the blackstone....there's a resolution problem...cause specs are as follows:
Inside you'll find Qualcomm's MSM7200A proc running Android at 528MHz, 512MB/288MB ROM/RAM, 3.2-inch TFT-LCD with 320 x 480 pixel rez, 900/2100MHz HSPA and Quad-band GSM, trackball, GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, 3.5mm audio jack, G-sensor, compass, and 5 megapixel auto-focus cam with microSD expansion. It's all there baby.
But this ui will be available for windows mobile too...so I guess we will get a working version by the end of this years (at latest!!!).
HTC First Look Video of whats to come.....
Full promotional video from HTC can be downloaded HERE
VERY Impressive!!!!!
Expected UK Release Date 3rd July
I think this will be my next "adventure" - the main constraint for me will be Blackberry support though.....
.
Looks like Point UI.
But it is smoothhhhhhhhh! Please port ass soon ass possible!!
the new ui is based on manila, the only difference is layout.
you have to think, the original android UI is used on all previous android devices.
this is the first UI built by HTC for the android OS.
so can be easily built for WM by HTC.
so glad i spotted this and posted it before everyone else did lol

Android on Rhodium = better performance?

I believe that's a fairly valid question, and might have been better to post in one of the Android for Rhodium threads, but I don't see the need to post such a useless reply glcK23...
On topic: I think Android would offer the TP2 better performance than the current WM6.5 builds, but there's still plenty of work to be done on the current porting project for the Topaz/Rhodium. And by the time a stable version of Android is available for us, we probably won't be far away from Windows Mobile 7. The chefs here making WM6.5 ROMs do a fantastic job at giving us great performance. I love my TP2 for what it can currently do, I'm not fussed about Android at all.

Yeah, it's pretty fast considering it isn't even fully using the GPU yet. It may be an early port still, but live wallpapers (my favorite is Star Field) run flawlessly and there's only a bit of lag. You know, you can always try it for yourself...

hmmmmm huge point there aight then im just gonna wait for wm7 lolz thx for your thoughts
I'm not sure it'd offer better performance to be honest (compared to a TP2 running Sense 2.1, not the very cool but slow and buggy 2.5).
I had a T-mobile Pulse for a while, and it has pretty much the same internals as the Pro2 & did not perform much better, and sometimes a lot worse & needed a restart to speed things up.
I'll be interested to try Android on the Pro2 again once it becomes useable (and it's getting there fast).
There's so much about WinMo being outdated and rubbish compared to Android & Iphone etc, but I don't really agree - set up correctly you can do the very same tasks just as well as on the other platforms, and sometimes WinMo is better. Only things missing are a vibrant application store & compared to the Iphone, the snappy performance opening apps etc.
Oh, and if you want Android and a device with a Keyboard & WVGA screen, you could always get a milestone?
I had the G1 and Mytouch since before they were released. Now i have the touch pro 2.
Both have positive and negitives just like anything. Android does slow down after you load it with apps..
But considering the touchpro 2 is the same specs as the HTC hero (unlocked) I would think it could run the android Sense really well.. IF it was built for android
Trying to make a phone run with a different OS than it was built for regardless of specs, will take a long time to perfect.
Just do what i do, Buy a phone, use it, than when your board sell it on Ebay. Than buy another one, I'm onto the N900 next.
Have fun.

[Q] HD7 with Windows 6.5

Hi, would it be possible to buy the HD7 (Trophy) and change the rom to WM6,5?
I like the phone and its size but my company's email software and some other softwares are not WM7 compatible. Is it possible to install WM6.5 onto the Trophy or should I just get an older phone (probably HD2)?...
Get an older phone if you want to use 6.5.
trade me, i've got a brand new, never used hd2 . j/j, i hate at$t.
HD7 with WinMo 6.5 is HD2
ha ha ha ha ha
sorry
this is really funny
get a new/reconditioned HD2 on email for around £250 in UK
Fundamentally incompatible

The hardware of the hd7 and the hd2 are almost identical, but the hd2 is actually better. It has a removable sd slot also.
The HD2 had to be redesigned because the Windows phone 7 OS is actually a silverlight runtime environment and needed different hardware and that means different drivers. There is currently no way to use the hardware on the hd7 with wm6.5.
I assume you ask this because you want the flexibility of third party apps...
I just went and downloaded Microsoft Expressions Blend 4 and started to write my own apps for my phone
Just get yourself an HD2...same performance

Thanks
Super thanks to all of you!
I hoped to get an answer that I can install WM6.5 until there are some apps available for WM7 from my company. And then reinstall WM7. I guess it is not that easy... I will get the HD2 then...
Thank you for all the answers

What exactly are you asking? HTC 7 Pro?
The HTC HD7 is a windows mobile phone (Windows Mobile 7) it's really the HD3, but htc jumped to 7 to keep the number synonymous with WM7.... to avoid confusion, although people are still confused. Here's an easy way to look at it;
htc HD2 ---> WM6.5 OS
htc HD7 ---> WM7 (sometimes referred to as Windows Phone 7) OS
Seems you are confused a little..there is no Windows Mobile 7, there is Windows Phone and Windows Mobile..and that ended with 6.5.
But there is no other modern hardware with full keyboard..so the 7 Pro needs Windows Mobile.
When someone buys a Win 7 phone and wants to install 6.5 to get productivity then I really think MS have a major problem or the guy who started this thread is having a lend of us.
I would love to have 6.5.x on my HD7 dual boot
there are a lot of apps available for 6.5.x including multiple browsers copy and paste that i could use while we wait for wp7 to grow in functionality. At this point it would be ideal to be able to dual boot with 6.5.x and wp7, I could do things I need to do on 6.5 and then go back wp7 for the most part.
Are there any news about WM 6.5 ROM for the HD7? I have so many apps for 6.5 with no eqivalent in WM7. It would be great to have WM 6.5 on the HD7. I like the feeled speed compared to the HD2 and it feels easier to swipe with the finger, it have a faster response...

The HD7 feels faster because it runs WP7. Its processor runs at the same speed as the HD2's. The HD2 feels slower because WM6.5 is a big bag of smelly animal poo.
First of all there is no such thing as WM7, it was aborted in favour of WP7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Mobile).
I suggest posting in the WP7 Rom development section your requests rather than here. Considering XDA-Devs is working on craking WP7 itself and when that happens possibly Android, I think the dead OS Windows Mobile will be low down on their list.
I also think dual booting is not all what it's made out to be! I dual-boot my HD2 to Android, and no longer use WM6.5. Why you ask? Well WM 6.5 is dead, most of the services (if not all) for WM6 are available on Android.
If you really must have Windows Mobile, best option is to get a HD2, it has very good support for WM, much better than any fudgeware that could be put on the HD7.
I have my HD7, my old HD2 still uses copilot and now a few apps only found in the Android market. I purchased a simple Pay as you go SIM to keep that phone alive.
I hope its possible soon..the HTC 7 Pro is on the market soon..and there is no alternative to it...
Give me strength!!!!!
What planet are you guys on? MS has switched development to WP7 and are not likley to support WM6 (maybe something in the numbering may give the game away here [sarcasm])
No matter how good the guys at XDA are, they are not going to crack WP7 overnight, it took them over 2 months to crack HD2 last year and that was on technology that didn't differ too much from WM6.1. WP7 is from the ground up.
As for the HD 7 Pro, it will come with WP7, nor Fairy phone 6 or anything else. And guess what? It's not even released yet so no point in asking people to crack it before it's been released.
http://www.htc.com/www/product/7pro/specification.html
Can one of the Mods close this useless thread or move it over to the HD7 Dev thread so all the Devs can laugh at it?
win mobile 6.5 on htc hd7
In reality, this requirement is due to the fact that many programs such as ACR (audio call recorder) and many other contacts backup is not running on win mobile 7. That's why I consider it important to install win 6.5 on hd7, at least temporarily.
thanks

windows mobile 6.5.x on hd7?

while I await for my hd7, i was curious to know if anyone is working on porting windows mobile 6.5.x on the hd7 while wp7 is growing and progressing as a new operating system. I think that it would be nice to go back and forth between winmo and wp7, for our different needs until wp7 is a fully robust operating system. is anyone working on this?

Are you for REAL ?????
Once you get your HD7 in your hands, you won't be asking this question anymore
My first reaction was to scoff at this, but I do see his point. My daily driver is the HD7 but I still have to keep my HD2 for satnav and SPB time. It's a pain, but once those services are ported over WP7 I won't be needing WM.
I don't think anyone will be working on a port for Windows Mobile, they are too busy working on jailbreaking WP7. If you need WM, get a HD2 or something similar, they will be flooding ebay soon
I hope someone will do it, if it works on the HD7 it will work in the Pro 7 and i could get a modern device with a keyboard.
Im sorry but I rather use the maps on the HD7 then have to deal with WM6.5 that has Satnav or any other app you might use it for. I give all credit to the developers for making the hd2 way better than what it was suppose to be but after all the roms I tested on it along with porting Android, I still had to deal with the lags, freezes, and just couldnt use the phone for the basic reasons. to me theres just no way you can compare hd2 to hd7, its like comparing a brand new painted 1990 car to a brand new 2011 car.

[Q] WP7 on X1?

I just heard about this great new: WP7 can be cracked to run on old HTC (OS WM6). Is this possible to have this capability on our X1? Someone has any new?

Very true not only the X1 but pretty much all of the WM devices, I've heard the HD2 running it but that is probably the only WM that can do it. @ usylsse84 but most importantly why waste your X1 with a locked down OS that's missing alot basic smartphone features you are defiantly not gaining anything by putting WP7 in your X1? And that 12 year old made looking square interface is retarded, I would be sick of looking at that interface after a week of using it and not having the option to change it lol GTFO. If you want WP7 then buy a WP7 phone it's that simple.
On second thoughts..I dont think it would run as smooth as the 1GHZ processor...
