[Q] usbnet module? - Nook Color General

I seem to remember that when I booted with the autonooter under Linux that there was a point where a usb networking device was available. Does anyone have the nook module for that? I have occasions where I cannot use wireless but would like to have networking available on the nook. I already know how to set up the linux side of usbnet but I think I'm missing the module that would allow the nook to do it's side. Anyone have it?

Mac OS X FroYo USB Tethering

... I was just wondering if anyone has a solution that allows the Nexus One to be used as a USB modem in Mac OS.
I know I can use WiFi tethering and I know of PDANet, I am not looking for alternative solutions but rather to find out if the FroYo USB tethering functionality can be used with Mac OS X (Snow Leopard).
Any help is appreciated.
well before someone comes up with a real answer (since i dont have osx) the easiest thing to do is just plug in the n1 to usb and not mount the device and turn on wifi tethering. This way its charging and being your hotspot.
Why dont you just try to see if the usb tether on froyo works on your macbook and tell us what happens? It could possibly only take 10 minutes to flash froyo plug in, test (stay there if its works), and nandroid restore (if it doesnt).

I have of course tried this and nothing happens, it is not mapped as a network card like it is if I reboot into Windows 7.
Furthermore, I have searched and found several posts saying that it does not work due to a lack of drivers in Mac OS.
However, this being XDA and the innovative nature of many of the people on this forums made me think that someone may have a solution that works.
Linux drivers
If any one can provide hints where the Linux drivers that that add USB tethering ability can be found ? May be we are just able to port them with little modifications if any would be needed at all.
The problem is
Simply and has been for ages (since HTC had this kind of USB tethering integrated since the Hero days) that the solution google uses probably is the same as htcs it relies on rndis, which OSX has no proper support for. RNDIS is perfectly supported on OS level in windows and Linux but not in OSX.
Apple has dropped the ball on this protocol for ages, but up until now this has not really hurt but now it does somewhat (thankfully Google also has provided Wifi tethering, which is an easy fix to the problem)

TouchOSC on Nook Color

Maybe some of you have heard about TouchOSC made by Hexler.
I'm trying to get this to work on my Nook Color with latest CM9 build. It refuses to connect to my laptop via my router and I have tried many wpa-supplicant patches, but ad-hoc does not work either. Does anyone know of a solution or possible alternative? The only similar app I've been able to map on Traktor Pro is TouchDAW (via ADB).

Kali OS for our Raspberry

What you guys think about it?
I gonna try it - this night I want to download an .img file for raspberry and also .iso for normal computers
Website: http://kali.org/
Download: http://www.kali.org/downloads/ (you need to chose armel architecture and then Raspberry PI version)
About (docs): http://www.kali.org/official-documentation/
Yeah I saw this also, it will be fun to use but it will not be good for cracking passwords fast because of the raspberry pi's hardware. Might test it out on mine soon
Informations from me (will be keep updated):
Didn't try the special applications yet, but I feel it boots much slower than Raspbian. Reading package lists is slower too, but it's prolly because of more apps on list, so it's possible to fix.
Use Thunar file manager - it's much faster than the second one.
Midori is shutting down without any reason.
3.8GB of SD card used after writing it (checked in file manager).
Chromium doesn't work at all.
Already decided to stop using it, just need to test tools now...
I installed it , but how do I connect to the internet? I dont see any wifi scanner to find a network.
Also i went to the command prompt and is not readying my usb wifi adapter... doesnt find wlan0
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I connected it with ethernet cable so I didn't have such a problem.
It's strange that kali doesn't see a wificard - it has many built-in drivers. Maybe you are searching wlan0, when it's for example wlan1? Did u use ifconfig and iwconfig?
From my understanding the rPi does better with hf than it does el, so it seems that if Kali OS could be compiled for the rPi using armhf instead that the performance might be better overall than running an armel version. On that note, you won't see the same speeds as a Raspbian distro merely because it is using armel compared to Raspbian which uses armhf.

Don.'t ask me to buy wireless card for pc. Thanks.

For < $10 you can get usb wifi directly from your pc. Makes more sense imo -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref...words=usb+wifi+adapter&ie=UTF8&qid=1418427139
I tested easytether app and it will not see my nook hd+ with cm11 m12 whereas adb does see the device and works too. With my phone, easytether found that right away. So I would think something is disabled in the kernel, but could be wrong despite the fact that tethering is obviously missing from android settings and that means something.
Finally I've managed usb tethering via nook hd
I used PDAnet+ app on both pc and nook hd. It installed ADB drivers and with simple setup I was able to share internet connection.

Connecting Fire to Ethernet with adapter

Hi I recently purchased online a micro-USB to RJ45 Ethernet adapter with a 3 port USB hub like these. It was insanely cheap so I thought why not. Reviews said in most cases it was plug and play, however, I am unable to get the ethernet to work. No network icon appears in the upper right and there does not seem to be any options for a network connection. The USB ports work and it was fun watching a mouse appear and an external keyboard work immediately upon plugin. They provided a driver CD and I sideloaded all the files (85mb) onto the Fire - Pictures folder. How do I install the drivers to get the ethernet to work?
Note: Using ES File Explorer I went to Network>LAN> tapped on Scan but nothing was found.
A side question is, does anyone know how to access the 'USB computer connection' menu (where it gives you the option of selecting 'Media device' MPT or 'Camera' PTP) in settings without plugging it into a PC via USB ie. from the settings menu?
Thanks
WXsky
Doubt there is a USB to RJ45 driver driver for this device as it was never intended to work with a wired network connection. As for your other question I don't believe that menu is available on non-rooted FireOS unless a tether has been established (and then only via notification).
Apparently it wasn't intended to work with an external keyboard or mouse but this adapter made it so it could. When I plug it into the Fire it gets power as indicated by a greenish yellow light. When I plug it into the ethernet cable another light appears and it is red so that means I have connectivity, just no driver installed I'm guessing.
Could anyone else weigh in on this please? I need a bit more than just a glib "No". As I mentioned I have the drivers. They were provided on a mini disc. How do I install them? Not totally familiar with Android or other Linux devices however I've dabbled with Ubuntu but nothing on these confounded tablets.

Just because you have a mini-disk does not mean the contents will work with this device or FireOS. I have yet to see an Android device support an Ethernet adapter via OTG; a brief Google search suggests it may be possible with a few select adapters and devices. Aside from driver both kernel and ROM (FireOS) must cooperate to secure the connection. Unlikely Amazon would include that intentionally leaving it to the underlying version of Android (5.1.1) to manage the interface. Given the complexities of establishing/maintaining an Ethernet data connection me thinks you have a project on your hands. Good luck.
