i would like to purchase a samsung captivate and a nexus s, so i did some searching and resource over google. Found a telco at this website www.22shop.com.
Guys, please advise what to look out for in these 2 phones? as i know it will be in mandarin version and hope maybe i can live with it. cos if not i will be flashing away with other roms.
Please give some advise if anyone had been to the chinese country and got yourself an android over there thanks!

You can flash a i9000 rom so instead of looking for att captivate in the search section look for samsung i9000, that is the international version of the phone. You can flash a US ROM more than likely and it is very easy. Please look there...
Ge Thanks Slider, will try it. hope will bring back a english menu instead of the mandarin ones.
sorry for this stupid question but doesnt gingerbread have 32 languages to choose from or is that just the ability to type or text in those languages? sorry i was just curious and this is prob a stupid question.

Hello,
I intend to order the unlocked HTC Touch Diamond II at amazon.co.uk for using in Germany.
Please, could someone confirm, if this device will work in German mobile networks, especially in ePlus?
Please don't laugh if you think it's a dumb question
Hello!
Please tell me why you want to buy this in the UK? The Price isn't better and if it is broken you have to send it to UK back. You can buy the phone in Germany for round about 430 Euro (PDAMax.de)
But I think, this will also work for Germany because it's only another language.
Not sure if it will help but..
I have just travelled from the UK, through Holland, into Germany to the Nurburgring, back to the UK via Spa & have had perfect reception hopping over onto different networks
Cheers, Shane, (UK)
Hello twoutlaw,
thank you for your reply.
I want the English version of the TD2... I could purchase the German one at amazon.de - the online shop I trust
I would get it at amazon.co.uk for ~ 30-40 EUR more than from the German branch; it's OK for me for this deal.
Why I'm thinking about the compatibility: please take a look at the screenshot of the German TD2. It tells us, that the German device has the "DE" radio version (Funkempfängerversion). I don't know, if the "GB" radio will work here. It should, I think

Hello Shane,
sure, it really helps me! Were you also "roamed" to ePlus being in DE?
Hi,
Not sure really as I was too busy having fun, but I know I had reception at all times & must have had about 6 to 8 text messages, saying welcome to ??? network
Cheers again, Shane

You should write it down; it will be the Sentence Of The Century once upon the time!
Thank you for the info and kind regards!
It works
The English Topaz works perfectly in Germany.
I’ve just got Dutch Topaz and it’s perfectly works in Russia. Don’t worry. Take it. U can also take Topas in Germany and re-flash it using HardSPL to official English rom.
I put an i9000 ROM (Modem/CSC/PDA) on my one week old Samsung Galaxy S i9000B, as you can imagine this made a lot of changes (touch sensivity errors, sim locked message, and many others).
I spent the night looking in the forums for the right ROM (i9000B Entel Chile) and I can't find it. Could anyone tell me if there is a place where I can find it?
I'll really appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Alejandro.
PS: Sorry about my english.

OMG don't act like this forum has that much activity. it's nearly dead. and he is from uruguay and it seems like he never had that much to do with mobile phones or this forum. i know this is developers forum, but even facebook group is the same. for what do i need community when i cant help people??? otherwise a blog would be enough for releases. make a sticky faq and tell every new member who posts a new thread to look up there and close the thread.
shouting at people wont change anything because the next newbie wont even know you told once.
spam and newbies is a problem no one can prevent. it will always be there.

Well, when people are getting duped by Samsung after they release a phone totally different from the i9000, then claim its the same while having a totally different chipset, what are we supposed to say? All I'm chasing here in this section is a Ginger ROM in zip format, de-odexed like most other ROMS so I can fix up a problem I've been having, the fact that this stupid box of rubbish won't let me add a new APN to the list cos I can't install a CSC into the ROM...
Hi
I am new to all this. Know nothing. I just stumbled accross a website saying that if I root my device and install CM11 my device might be faster. So then came to xda-developers.
I have just bought a secondhand tab 2 16gb. I find it awfully slow. It is mint condition and before i sell it on to someone else i thought I'd ask....
Is it worth rooting my device?
If so what are the steps and can a complete newbie do it?
Hope someone can come back with a succinct answer that I can understand - please no techie stuff!
Cheers
john
