Hi,
For the moment there is no GPS software compatible with WP7.
We must wait more time for the companies launch new version that could work with WP7.
Thanks
Santos
im conused now, so , should i exchange the phone or should wait few months??
That's really up to you. If you don't like it, then the phone isn't for you, take it back. If you do like it and are willing to wait another couple of months for GPS software, then wait. For info, i've been using the built in Maps application to get to places and it's fine as a temporary workaround.
The biggest problem at the moment is that we are forced to use the Zune portal and this will only work in a very limited number of countries.
I cannot buy any application in the marketpalce just because I live in Portugal!!!
And this is the main reason why so many companies are not willing to spend money, time and resources in developing to such a limited audience.
IGO8 was the best GPS software I have ever seen for the Xperia X1 or for any Win mobile 6.5 phone, now we cannot use it because the developers, european, are not going to do something that most of their present costumers won't be able to buy and use in their WP 7 phones!
For the same reason we don't have Skype and so many others...
Microsoft forums are loaded with complaints about this, even the people in Canada can't use Zune portal, can you believe this?
This sucks...
Not sure if I'd call the countries that WP7 is available in a "limited audience," that isn't a fair judgment simply because your country isn't supported... Most major countries ARE supported...
Now, to answer your question, the OS is a couple months old, I'd expect to see a rush of GPS software being released soon, especially with Verizon and Sprint getting involved. I'd also expect a lot of these to utilize the API to Bing Maps... Saving space on the device and making a more direct inclusion to the OS.... That's just my theory though. Be patient...
Are you for real? This is the list of supported countries:
Australia (English)
Belgique (Français)
Belgium (Nederlands)
Canada (English)
Canada (Français)
Denmark (English)
Deutschland (Deutsch)
España (Español)
Estados Unidos (Español)
Finland (English)
France (Français)
Hong Kong (English)
India (English)
Ireland (English)
Italia (Italiano)
日本 (日本語)
México (Español)
Netherlands (Nederlands)
New Zealand (English)
Norway (English)
Österreich (Deutsch)
Schweiz (Deutsch)
Singapore (English)
Suisse (Français)
Sweden (English)
United Kingdom (English)
United States (English)
20 countries!!! 20!!!
Out of almost 200 existing now! That's 10%...
In the remaining 90% of the countries in the world we are not able to buy one single song, one single application...
Imagine yourself in this situation, what would you do?
I know people that returned their phone the moment they realized how crappy the situation is.
I won't do it but I really feal cheated!
I'm not saying its an enjoyable situation, but most of the major countries are supported... Major... Also, yes, 200 countries.. But there are also some countries that won't allow implementation... But no, I wouldn't want to be in the situation, and as a Microsoft supporter I would like to see the list grow...
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
Guys Question, maybe i too stupid for that, but how you can cancel/off everything , what you use in hd7 eg. video player , music other app?? Do I have to use arrow to make everything off? just arrow?
Yup, 10% of the worlds countries but I bet that's close to 50% of the worlds population.
Wouldn't call that a small market??
edit; According to wiki, that's 32% of the worlds population.
But the problem is Microsoft tend to distribute their phone with operator of the country without realising they dont fully support for the country like what apple do in the past. So people who buying the phone will stuck with the phone basic apps and we cant even sideload the app (although we can but ask microsoft yourself) and stuck with a contract you cant easily terminate it.
You can see that my country Malaysia had been announced as one of major countries that will sell HD7 under Maxis but do you see my country listed above? How do we suppose to buy app? by hacking the phone?
This is the link for proof

I think all the WinPhone 7 is good and better than apple with support of outlook and most importantly office sharepoint but the lacks of support is really frustrating. Im really regret that i not opt for HTC Desire HD.
P/S : Steve Balmer and Steve Jobs ( name also same ). Sorry for my English.

Weatheryoko will be pleased to hear that i have today ordered my LEGAL version of TomTom 6 - after trying the tomtom 5.21 (Cracked version) and the tomtom 6 (Cracked version) and various other nav systems(all Cracked), i have decided that tomtom are a good system to use. The reason for my trying these different versions is because i paid mercedes £1500 to have satnav fitted in a car i ordered from them and found it to be utter rubbish, besides not being portable between vehicles etc. Once fitted it's then obviously too late for refunds etc. As there isn't any option, i've found, to test these systems before purchase, it made sense to try the cracked versions.
As Weatheryoko is so anti-piracy i trust he will now hand back any owned property, to the indigenous population/native americans, that were "stolen" "pirated" from them by his forebears, and will campaign on their behalf for other such lands to be returned - or is it the usual - do as i say not as i do
Glad to hear it....
I'm glad to hear that your buying a legal version, and thanks for the "jabs". Just so you know, I'm an immigrant and I (nor my ancestors) were here when the lands were stolen from the Native Americans. We weren't even here during the last "land grab" of 1889. Believe me when I say this, I think is was shameless the way they were treated. Having lived in Oklahoma (which is Choctaw for "Red People" FYI), I know this story too well. Maybe this is what prompted me to donate funds to the American Indian College Fund. I would recommend that you get to know people first, before making rash judgements. Maybe that was the problem with the early American settlers? What do you think? Mate, if you want to throw stones in glass houses, do you want to talk about the Ireland or Scotland? We could also talk about slavery (which both your and my country had at one time) if you chose. The bottom line, neither country is clean. Atrocities know no political boundary. Darfur, Nazi Germany, Crusades, Bosnia, Cambodia... pick one. I can't change the past, but I can choose how I live in the present. If I see someone doing something wrong, I try to do something about it. I'm not perfect. I **** things up occassionally, but I learn, try to make things right and move on.
This isn't an attack on you, so please don't take it personally. However, reading your comments prompted me to respond. Since this thread is already way off topic, I won't comment any further. Bottom line, glad to see that you bought the legal version. Please encourage others to do so. I do wish though that TomTom would provide an "evaluation version" so people could evaluate it for while before purchasing. This may cut down on the wide-spread use of cracked versions.

Agreed, to expect someone to pay that much without testing it a bit first is a bit much imo.
You can see it in a shop but not just try driving down the street a bit which would give you a proper idea of what its like.
Weatheryoko - it wasn't meant as a personal attack i was just using irony as an example - agreed the world is probably never going to be perfect - but please don't judge people for using what is available for evaluation or other reasons - surely that is the greatest tool that the internet and forums such as this provide - btw tomtom is a good product imho and i took the opportunity only to evaluate the possibilities before parting with my ill gotten gains having been stung before  Enough said, as you rightly stated this is way off topic - and we all have our own opinions, which is why the world is, as is.
well done ..but the tt6 version isn't compatable with tt6 on tomtom website yet,but i'm sure you will gloat at how well it works if it does work ,i'm waiting for some positives before i splash out this time
Can anyone tell me where the TomTom6 for PocketPC can be ordered. I've checked the Tomtom website and the only 6.x version I can order is for the various GO devices... but no PDA so far :-(
I ordered mine from the guy that supplies me with all my desktop/laptops and all other it/comms paraphernalia - and as one of his best  customers, hopefully he'll come up with the goods as soon as he has them. But he has been known to be notoriously slow at times - so i won't hold my breath - it's only an order and as i understand you can order from pc world business or, presumably, other retailers - unfortunately i don't have a delivery date as such, just a promise, but then again i'm in no hurry, it's only another toy to play with!

yup they get you buy the short and curleys as teh software is free you only pay for the maps
All TomTom maps, voices etc. are coded to the individual TomTom software ID and are not interchangeable across TomTom users or TomTom versions, you need to buy everything all over again.
Got your TT6 yet dude? I have it up and running on 2 PDA's right here and i've put it on my mates XDA Mini IIs to. Not the legit version you undertand!

Daz please dont be a ****in muppet and DONT post warez!
I have had enough of people not thinking before posting pirated software. XDA Developers is a very valuable resource that can be closed down very quickly beacuse of pirated software, and thats something I dont ever want to see happen.
Dont get me wrong I use pirated software as much as the next person, but I dont go posting it on legit sites! Ejits like you are what get messsage boards closed down.
XDA DEV IS NOT A WAREZ BOARD SO DONT TREAT IT LIKE ONE!
RANT OVER!
Legal
You want to take a chill pill, i only posted a link to another website, I have posted no illegal files in this post and nor does the link take you directly to a warez file download, XDA dev are not legally responsible for links to other websites. You should check the legal stuff before you RANT at me.
PS Dicussion of Cooking ROMs is acceptable on this site, so check your facts please.
Microsoft and HTC both agree on XDA-Developers "We can't live with 'em and we can't live without 'em
According to tweakers.net (dutch), a very popular and more important, trustworthy Dutch IT website.http://forum.xda-developers.com/
XDA-Developers breaches intellectual property laws regarding ROM Cooking.
However Microsoft and HTC both agree "We can't live with 'em and we can't live without 'em."
Microsoft will not send take down orders to sites such as XDA-Developers, who offer customized ROMs for windows-mobile telephone.
Some sites offering ROMs based on Windows Mobile 6.5 got take down orders last week. They, However, appeared to be hoax.
“Taking action against sites such as XDA-Developers isn’t a matter of concern for Microsoft” says Maarten Sonneveld of Microsoft Netherlands against tweakers.net. “What happens there, the modifying of ROMs, is illegal. The intellectual property however is not with us. The ROMs are intellectual property of the producers of the phone or the mobile phone providers if it concerns branded telephones. We simple only deliver the OS.”
The biggest producer of Windows Mobile-phones, HTC, also says they don’t have any plans to take action against ROM sites. “What happens there isn’t allowed” says HTC Benelux-CEO Mark Moons,
“But XDA-Developers is the biggest and most active community of Windows Mobile-developers. We can’t live with ‘em and we can’t live without ‘em.”
Last week it seemed there were to come an end to tolerating Windows Mobile-communities.
A certain ‘James Young’ sent emails on behalf of Microsoft to site managers in which he stated that they were sharing illegal content, and summoned them to stop their practices; some site managers, in fact, did this.
It mostly concerned ROMs with betas of Windows Mobile 6.5, the update of Microsoft’s Mobile OS that should appear this summer
Haha nice one
Nice, but doesn't come much as a surprise. This community is the only reason Windows Mobile is still competitive. And Microsoft knows it. Besides that, why should they bother? Other than on the desktop PC, the phone hardware is quite limited without proper drivers WM won't run on phones which weren't supposed to run it in the first place. So Microsoft sold their license, HTC (or any other manufacturer) bought it and end of story. They have absolutly no disadvantage when ppl start cooking ROMs - in the contrary. I can't even begin to image using my X1 or any other WM-phone without the customization options presented here. Without them, I wouldn't have bought another WM-phone and become a WM-fan ... ;-)
Read this on tweakers.net yesterday, don't know if we should be happy about this statement.
But it seems xda-developers is going to be watched carefully by MS and HTC, probably has been already.
Until the take serious actions against this community I'm going to flash my X1 with Touch-IT ROMs as many as possible
I would say Microsoft and HTC is the winners here. The ROM cooking means more people is attracted to the platform and for me the reason I bough the X1 was this community.
Rather than moaning, HTC and Microsoft should make donations to XDADevs because this community is one of the main reasons why both of them rose to unforeseen heights.

i bought my htc wizard and SE x1 because of xda-developers.if they shut rom sites down i ll never buy windows mobile device that's for sure.my phone is my home so i ll decide how will i decorate my home not microsoft.cheers
Yeah i've read that also (im dutch and visit that site 3 times a day or so )
I think that htc says "MAKE NICE ROMS XDA, or else we will.....)
I'll add my 2 pennies worth...
I'm not a cook, though I sorely wish I were! However, thanks to XDA developers, I've had WM phones for the past 5 years, up until Blue Angel I *only* would have Nokia phones, but I was given the Blue Angel as a present and hated it. I then accidentally found XDA when I was going to sell the Blue Angel and was looking for a way to unlock the sim. Figuring I had nothing to lose as I hated the phone anyway, I put a new rom on and fell in love! Since then, I've had every HTC phone and just recently went to the Xperia *ONLY* because of this website. If XDA wasn't here, I would have gotten the N96 or a Blackberry.
So, for what it is worth MS and HTC if you're reading... Leave XDA alone, support it where you can, and be happy for the generosity of this community for making the product you produce better and more usable!
the only reason I got rid of my Omina and went back to a HTC made pda was because of the support and options that I can find here, good move from microsoft however I suspect microsoft as always turned a blind eye to a degree (remember the fpt problems?)
Cool. This is a pretty big community of developers.
James Joung lives here in my neighbourhood
Now I understand why he has spent the whole week laughing
Well,
if it wern't for XDA developers, when I got my Orange c500 (Back in the day) that would have been the last WM phone I bought.
Since then ive had:
Orange c550
Orance c600
MDA Vario
HTC TYTN
HTC Touch Diamond
Sony Xperia X1
goes to show the value of XDA... if anything, I think Microsoft, HTC etc should jump on the band wagon and help chefs get the best out of WM, or at least, some kind of formal agreement should be attained to help protect the community
can't live without them(xda),hehe.. htc and microsoft should donate to support xda !

Maybe he was laughing because his CEO, told him that if he will try to touch this site, he will have to fill up for unemployment... This site have 41,159 members (ONLY ) and allmost all of us, we own between 2-4 HTC pda phones. If HTC will loose us, I guess that they will show the middle finger to Microsoft and they will stick with Android from the time on...
To be honest in that perverse way MS has BENEFITTED from 'Piracy' etc. throughout their history. Take Office for example - way back in the day Lotus and Wordperfect were the dominant market forces. MS were trying to force their way into the market wth their Office products. In the end they blew away the competition - how? Because their media had no copy protection - thus Office Workers ended up getting copies from work to put on their home PCs to carry on extra work at home. The others had copy protection.
MS turned a blind eye to this because they knew that the more people had Office, the more they would want it in their workplace - so much so that in the end how many companies use those products anymore? Now that they are the dominant force, Piracy is an issue.
It is the same with sites like XDA-Devs. The mobile phone market is huge and will get bigger even in these times. WinMo is still a small part of that market - Nokia and Symbian undoubtably have an edge here. However people are becoming more savvy about mobiles and want more from them which is where MS, RIM, and Apple come in (with an improving Symbian).
However if all the consumers had to rely on was 'Stock' ROMs and buggy WinMo (esp. when consumers will compare it to the iPhone etc.) then WinMo would have nowehere near the amount of consumers, and would die a slow death. However thanks to XDA-Devs (and sites like these) we can buy these phones confident that some super talented Cook will provide us with a ROM that will get us the full experience of these devices. Hence we will then buy the next generation, then the next etc.
MS and HTC know this - hence why they can't 'live without 'em'. No point cutting off your nose to spite your face eh?....

I cant buy any programs at all.
Its many progs I would like to pay for the full version off.
Why cant I do this?
When will this be available in Norway?
Currently Norway is not a supported region for paid apps (see http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138294 ).
Try the beta version of the market enabler ( http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/ ) which I believe allows you to select which region you want to "appear" to be in so you can access the apps from that region.

Dave

I live up in Troms, Norway and I am a bit miffed at the ristrictions imposed on the market place too. I'm searching for a workaround and will post any easy solutions.
Hello to the Hero group too. I have come over from the Athena forum. I'm a WM6.5 traitor.
Hopefulle Google will change the way they support norwegians in the marked. It`s a shame!
To be fair, I believe that it is technically simple, but legally complicated to offer up something like the market in a new territory.
Essentially, Google is acting as a middle-man for all the application developers, who are selling you their apps. Depending on where they are physically located, there are all sorts of issues that may need to be taken into consideration (e.g. VAT, tax, payment processing etc) before they can open up the paid apps market to a new territory.
Not really much help to those of you in unsupported regions, and I do believe that a company the size of Google (and with resources to match!) should be able to do this much quicker!
Regards,
Dave
Have you been to Norway?

It's not legalities that are the problem here but bureaucracy and people sat on their arse drinking coffee and eating cake all day at work. It takes so damn long to get anything done in Norway. Take a look at the XBox 360 update - streaming movies and tv available but switched off in order to let a Norwegian company take control of the content. (But the contracts, and therefore the service, were not ready because everyone was on summer holiday!)
Don't hold your breath for a paid app Marketplace here until at least end of the year.
This is exactly the sort of area where the EU should step up to the plate to harmonize the laws across individual member states. I''m not talking about taxation, or tax rates, but it should be much easier to do business with the EU as a "bloc". Trouble is the bureaucrats seem to spend more time thinking up legislation to complicate and hinder, rather than make things simpler and easier for the people they represent!

Dave

I understand your frustration very well, My country is in European region and IN the EU community and we can't buy payed apps on marketplace either. Our mobile providers have to make deals with google before they can enable it.
Typical Belgium, always steps behind.
These new smartphones and app markets are what makes these new generation phones appealing.

Heey guys, i know it not even touches the theme of the forum, but i want you to know where i live.
So, there is the worse government in my country for 5th year and then they published that, they want to introduce the "Internet tax" that means 150 HUF (hungarian forints) which is 0.63 USD or 0.49 EUR / GB after every started gigabyte. So that means, if i watch a movie or 4 youtube videos i have to pay In addition to the monthly fee, + 150 HUF / GB. As you can see on the following image, there is the taxes (below "ADÓ").
Mod edit: Inappropriate image removed.
What i want is to post it on your website or anything that you can make it heard by the whole internet community. It's really sad and may be that some country's government will hear all about this thing and they may help us out.
Sorry for the english skills of mine, but i really want to live in a country where is no taxes for breathing.
