Are there any fixes /workarounds out there for this option since it dissappeared from Settings|Applications|Development in 2.2.1 ?
It bugs me no end when I'm driving with my phone plugged in and the screen times out.
Yes. Widgetsoid in the market. Free. Enjoy :-D
Thanks... That's good.

I use StayAwake, free on the market. You can chose between stay awake always or when plugged into AC/USB.
Paul.
Thanks for that - StayAwake is just what I was looking for!

Hello!
I was pretty eager to install an NAND Android on my beatiful HD2, because WinMo really started to bug me, and I am still happy with my NexusHD2 Gingerbread ROM by tytung.
For homescreen customization I bought ADW.Launcher EX and ADW.Notifier out of the Market. Everything works mostly fine, my one problem right now is that:
When I receave a incomming text or mail ADW shows that little (ugly) red circle. Alongside of that, my Hardwarebuttons begins to pulse/flash. (Together with the green LED) that would be okay, If they would stop - but they don't even when i read a mail/text they keep pulsing and it seems that it stayes that way until I reboot.
As far as i can see that only happens when the phone is locked (and the screen is off), but I am not sure.
Any idea what could cause that? Do you need more information?
Anyway, thanks for your help,
laerador
It's a known issue with Gingerbread builds.
You need to make a phone call to stop it. You can ring a fake number (I used to just dial 0 when I was using Gingerbread), and just hang up, but that stops it... till the next time!

Glad to help mate
Under the developer settings, right below "Enable USB Debugging" in 2.1, as well as in the original leaked 2.2, there was the option to keep the screen on while the phone was charging or connected via USB.
I've been trying out a few ROMs, mostly based on 2.2.1, and in every one of them, that option is completely gone! Any know anything about this?
I have been told that this is the case on the 2.2.1 roms see my thread here:
Hopes this helps you.

Well, thanks for the help. I would really like for my screen timeout to be 15 seconds, unless i plug it in.... WITHOUT having to hit a button on a widget, and remembering to hit that button later so that my screen doesnt stay on forever.
Anyone know why the option is missing from 2.2.1 roms?
Hey all,
hope this is the right Thread for my post.
I've found out that the touch buttons of my device(Galaxy i9000) are lightening as long as the display is on.
On the device of my girlfriend the buttons are lightening only for 3 seconds then they turn off again even the display is still on.
We both have Froyo 2.2.1 XXJQ3 flashed over Odin. Nothing else is modded.
No rooting, no lagfix.
I know thats it's normal that the buttons are only lightening for 3 seconds, but my girlfriend wants me to set her mobile so it's like mine.
And I have the question why my buttons are lightening as long as the display's on and other phones of the users here not?
Hope u pros can help me again.
Greetz and thx
That's really strange...mine only go in in some apps, when I click them, our when I an typing but generally they are off...will look into it. Are you sure you both running exactly the same firmware?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I'm on the same firmware flached wit Kies (official) and mine is fine. If keep touching the screen, the buttons keep lightening but if after two seconds they are off.
flash the official version it's in kies
Hey guys,
Yeah I'm sure that we both have the same firmware, because I flashed them together. First mine then her's.
Today I flashed both to 2.3.3 and again my buttons stay on and her's not.
In my opinion it looks much better when they stay on as long as the display is on especially when it's dark, but im still curious whats the reason for this.
Still hope u can help me.
Thx and greetz
keep the lights on
Hi there,
I had exactly the same problem with my phone - especially annoying if you are
using phone in darkness.. App "keep the lights on" is a smooth solution..
Give it a try, step out of the dark
cheers
saving battry
I know that it saves battery but why the heck it doesn't do that on my phone?
Never changed something and I have to say that I really like that they stay on, but is there a chance that we can set up if lights stay on or not?

For me on XXJPK, while the app works, after I lock and unlock the buttons light up again so you would have to double tap the widget to turn the lights off every time... :-(
@markdj57
On JP3 and JPO works just fine - after turning the widget (and lights) on, I simply
throw the widget in trash and the buttons and display become one

XXJVK known issue/feature: Button lights are always on when screen is on.
However, this phenomenon should not occur on older firmwares.
Is there a simple fix yet?
Look at this post, worked for me and others.

I found that the app "screen filter" makes the soft key lights turn off after a couple of seconds when it's running, other than that I've never experienced it :/

I've been using Martin Börjesson's LED Notifications app for a while and you can now find it on the market!
"LG O2X Touch LED Notifications"
By Martin Börjesson
I found it's light on battery. And you can simply disable the notification part if you just want to recall the setting of touch LED brightness after reboot. It's free
I can't make it work with cyanogen nighlty :/

hmm..I can.
do i need to set any monitor app if i want it notice the miss call? if so, which?
Can't make it work with DocSlim
I tested all settings, i changed parameters in Accessibility, nothing happens...
Have you tried a reboot (though mine worked fine without on cm. Weird..)
Very nice, works on the G2x as well, with cm7
it works on su660 (korean version of o2X) too. thanks for good information.
Yep !
I've been using it since version 0.2 and it works really good. I just installed last version from market.
To emprize : no you don't need any app monitor for missed call. It's one of the 3 basics (Gmail, SMS/MMS, Missed call). Look into "notification" if "Missed call" is checked (should be by default).

I haven't noticed any as of yet but the way the program is set-up, it could be a battery guzzler. This app loops check for notifications as opposed to being built into the framework

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll just try it myself!
If anyone of you notices a serious battery drain I'd appreciate a post
anybody know what's the accelerometer tolerance for? i don't quite get it.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
problems is that as soon as you have a notification, your phone will not go to sleep. And then will drain battery until you check your phone
Yea that's what I mean but you didn't notice a serious drain because of that?
Just to be sure, the screen remains off and the buttons glow it is simply that the phone doesn't go into "sleep" mode (what somehow makes sense)?!
Did some testing
And my sleeping phone (no notification) consume 2-3% an hour
With the notification glowing (meaning no sleep) for an hour, I loose 10%
The phone does sleep, the app has zero wakelock according to spare parts.
well, the leds are still blinking, from what I know (I still may be wrong there's no LG routine for the blinking. It does mean it's done by the "LG O2X Touch LED Notifications" so no sleep...
well this is what I'm guessing, since we do not have the source code
Just cos an app does something doesn't mean it has to keep the phone awake to do it
I'm still getting the sleep of death on my NC. I am not satisfied by the proposed solution of setting wifi to sleep when the screen is off, because I actually like my NC to sync quietly in the background.
But if you're willing to accept a slow battery drain in exchange for reducing the chance the NC will seize up (and thereby incur faster drain)... install Wake Timer and set it to CPU on, screen off. My NC has now had 14h of uptime without an SoD yet and that has almost never happened once since I installed RC1.
when i had 7.1.0 rc-1 installed i had 1 or 2 sleep of death. i was able to wake it up by plugging it into a pc then hitting the power button after windows recognized it.
i have nightly 172 now and havent had a problem in the last month

This doesn't match my own experience. When I get the SoD and then plug in, the computer doesn't recognize it's connected to anything.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
the two times i had to do it, it recognized something was plugged-in, but couldnt find a driver for it. win7 x64 home.
with 7.1.0 rc1 i had 2-3 hard lock-ups, where the screen stopped responding. i had to hold power down for 10-15 seconds to hard reboot it. dont know if plugging it in would have done anything. i didnt have a computer handy and just did it to get it working again.
I had constant sleep of death, til I got rid of Live wallpapers.
I don't get it at all now.

I was using Multipicture LW because it scaled wallpapers properly.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuddy.
SoD is pretty much why I went back to just rooted stock rom :\, I really liked CM7 too, maybe it's just my device or there was a better version that I haven't used.
