So I wrote and published an app - I can see it on AppBrain and people have been downloading it, but I don't see it...
What gives?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/mammoth-mountain-lift-status/com.snyamathi.MammothMountain
Being censored by at&t? Turn on airplane mode then turn on wifi and access the market through that connection and search for it.
Hmmm I still don't see it. I asked my friend (droid on Verizon) if he could see it and he said that he can. Odd
I can see it on my cappy on att with docs rom kitchen rom. Came right up when I searched mammoth mountain

Searched mammoth mountain and it came up for me as well on serendipity. Only other thing would be the fingerprint in the build prop that most use which changes it to verizon. I will flash stock and check it later today out of curiosity.

Google developer's forums would be able to help you. Also here on xda, the android apps forums would be a place to ask. Not at all coming down on you. I can think of quite a few reasons why I'd ask that question here to a small helpful community. Just trying to give a couple places to ask if you don't find an answer here. Good luck, and I'll have to check out your app.
From a phone
I'll have to check that out - I've been having a lot of trouble with things not showing up in my market, not just this app.
When I search "Mammoth Mountain" all I get is 3 results for "Gps Skis Maps USC/CAN". Still can't see it, really frustrating...
Shows up on my captivate and I'm just running rooted JH7
I figured out the problem:
By disabling content protection (makes it harder for people to copy your app off of the phone) the application now shows up in my marketplace. Something about that made it invisible to me.

On my nexus and as i recall on my MT3g and g1 as well, when im in a forum or in a particular thread and i press "search" the box comes up but immediately disappears when i press it to try to bring up the kb.
So im curious if others are able to use the search function in XDA from their android phones (or maybe its a mobile device problem in general), its kind of funny to me because of all functions not to have access to, "search" is the one that really sends people into a vicious depression. good times
You are not alone on this. I noticed this after flashing Froyo. I use advance search as a work around for it.

Interesting. For me it definitely was an issue even prior to froyo and in fact I believe it happemed as far back as my mt3g and g1. Glad to know its not just my phone, obviously we can still just search through google but its a strange issue to have nonetheless
I'm sure it has to do with the WebKit version of the browser. Try Dolphin or Opera, it should work.
Hello People,Thanx 4 Your help up front.Ok so when i click to install a app it says downloading 4ever then itll never download ive reflashed the 2.1 update but even with that the market is still stupid.Plz Tell Me a Solution.Thnx Again
Someone posted about this a day or two ago. Apparently the Market is having network issues because it appears that hundreds maybe thousands of Android users are experiencing the same thing lately. I don't know if there has been a solution or fix found yet.
Check out this post, as it links to a couple Google support forum threads on the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758860
There are lots more posts like this over on Google, so it's not just you. Hopefully Google will have it resolved soon.
Haven't had the problem in a long time but it used to work if you'd cancel it and start again. If it. Doesn't start in a few seconds cancel and start again

Thnk U2..I Always Seem To Ask A Question Right B4 The Answer Can Be Found All Over The Forums-_-
Title! Coming from symbian we could check for updates whenever we wanted to.

why cant we tether with at&t? why have they moved their data down to 2gb from 5? why do we have at&t programs that we are not supposed to uninstall? how come every time i go into at&t and ask about 2.2 and they tell me samsung reps say next week? (that's been for 4 weeks now).
REASON:
AT&T likes to piss us off.....
At least that's the only plausible reason I can think of....
Real answer: ATT loves the iphone, and only the iphone.
Because the Android update goes through AT&T servers and they don't want to get hammered? I think it's dumb sure - but it is one of the few smart things AT&T has done.
The iPhone uses iLuserTunes which goes through Apple's network for pushing updates etc..
I renamed /dbdata/databases/wssdmdatabase.db and rebooted and was able to try to d/l again. The file was then recreated.
YMMV you brick it, you did it.
Also does fota use our data or is it like" free"

...you guys didnt read many of the update threads I guess? If you go into your date settings and move the date up a day, it will allow you to check again.

Uhhhh, its because they don't want everyone at the same time downloading android to crash their servers, I figured that one was pretty self explanatory, and the reason the att store reps keep telling you the wrong date is.... BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW. ATT store reps are not kept in the loop about ANYTHING. They don't know when phones will be released, they dont know when their shipments are coming in, so how would they know when a company is gonna release 2.2 when we cant even get that information directly from the company ourselves.

Nope, saw that, figured settings had to be in a db somewhere since android is so db centric. Now maybe someone with app experience can build a app to fix the last updated time in this db for us for next time.
why is this thread in the "android development" subforum in the first place? and not the "captivate general" forum. Theres like 3-4 threads already started in the general.

I know but its funny to hear them act like they have inside scoop. That's why I always ask.
I recently has a phone stolen, it was a xperia x10, i had lookout mobile security as well as wavesecure, both programs were unable to track my phone. Not to mention Rogers didnt want to help with anything, they just wanted me to buy a phone.
I came here to see if the "pros" know if what i want is possible or not.
What im looking to do is..
1) have a special shut down sequence to shut down the phone.
2)disable the power button to shut down the phone, but to put it in a hibernation mode, or just some mode that if it falls into the wrong hands and they power it down, they think its actually off.
3)be able to turn features on or off via txt msg or some other means.
Lol wut

i want make my phone so that only myself will have control over it
could you point me in the right direction to somewhere that someone can help me?
i have a captivate but its a SGH-I896 (canadian version)
Try Mobile Defense. but if they know what they are doing there is not much you can do.
Even though you own a captivate this is not the right place to post this question. What you are looking for is a piece of software specific to the platform, not the phone.
I would Google. Maybe try googling for "Android phone remote disable theft". I saw quite a few hits that may be of use to you when I did that search.
Keep in mind most products will simple allow you to disable or remotely wipe the phone in case of theft but don't go much further than that.
thanks for your help!
I thought i had seen something like this on xda here is the thread link hope this helps heres the link hope i helped

Questions go in Q&A.
Hello, rather a new ish member to XDA. Well im not new,I've always used xda, just never had an account, made an account, haven't used it since til now,so excuse me if this is in the wrong category.
I,being a fan of Milk music, miss having a samsung just because I can't get it any way else. I noticed that there was a hack before, and a while back i tried that, it didn't work. I couldn't get samsung account to work and it would skip all songs until it would spam the notification that I've hit skip limit.
So the main question is: Is there a new milk music hack to work on 5.1 devices(my nexus 6 for example) or at least the new version of Milk, or am I forever doomed without the wonderful app?

to answer your question, I am clueless, since I stay away from Samsung devices. BUT.. I can help you in XDA. you posted your question in the general category. instead, all questions, or if help is needed, these questions get posted into the q&a/help section. so, since you are looking for an answer, I'll ask a mod to move your thread into the correct section.

Hi, a quick search for your question, yielded no results from this forum. However, have a look here:

See if you can find anything similar. Good luck!
Thank you both! seems to be that there's nothing yet. Oh well.
