[Q] Is my phone causing the sync issues I'm having? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I don't know if this is the correct section to post this question.
I have an HTC Vogue.
When I would sync it to my Windows XP computer using MS ActiveSync 4.5, my Calendar information would get messed up during the sync. It would change the days in my Calendar on my computer in MS Outlook 2007. It would also mess up the recurrence of that particular event.
When I would sync it my Windows 7 computer using the Windows Mobile Device Center, the same exact problem would occur as it did in Windows XP.
My conclusion has come down to something being wrong with my phone. I assume this because the same exact problem happens on 2 different computers on 2 different Operating Systems.
Please help. If more information is needed, please let me know.

Vista WMDC6 (6.1 too) sync issue

I am running HTC TyTN II, Windows Vista Business and WMDC 6 (and alternatively 6.1). I cannot complete sync with Outlook 2007. Always get locked on at Calendar sync. Anyone with same problem, or solution. I have tried numerous suggestions and posts relating to synch issues; none worked. tks,
Same problem, on both Vista Home Premium and Active Sync 4.5 on Win XP SP2 ("Attention Required" error). I think there are some other threads relating to this. It's really annoying!
i thought if you had vista you couldnt use activesync. you need windows media center or something like that
in my case I am using WMDC6. and also used WMDC6.1
Problem is the same in both cases.

Read it again ' on both Vista Home Premium and Active Sync 4.5 on Win XP SP2 '
I had the same issue too on XP . Installed Outlook 2003 all is well
is this an HTC issue only?
My guess a Microsoft Outlook 2007 issue
I'm syncing Calendar, Contacts and Tasks between Outlook 2007 and my Tilt using LapLink PDASync. PDASync lets me sync my 'personal folders'. By default, WMDC only lets you sync your exchange folders, which I don't want to do.
I am using Vista Ultimate & Outlook 2007. I sync my Tilt (stock Rom) via Windows Sync Center (part of Windows Mobile Device Center) and have no problems of any kind.
Ive been getting sync errors for about 2 weeks now using outlook 2007 and WMDC 6.1 It used to be fine then suddenly stopped working, yet my qtek 9000 and my MDA Vario both sync fine, both have wm6 roms. so it must be a kaiser bug
I have Vista Business and Outlook 2007. The only time my sync fails is when I have Outlook open. If it is closed, there is no problem.
I was having problems with WMDC 6.1 after upgrading it from WMDC 6.0.
I've been having more luck after removing it and re-installing though. I think I remember some sites saying that there is an option to doing with enabling scripts for personal folders, which could be blocking the connection between activesync/WMDC.
I'm on Vista, WMDC 6.1 and Outlook 2007 (not the full office suite).

Sync problems

All of the sudden I am having problems sync'ing my phone with Outlook 2007. New contacts and calendars that I have added to Outlook will not sync to my phone. I thought that I had read somewhere that you could clear a setting in the Tilt to make this work but I can't find it anywhere now.
Anyone have any suggestions.
Tilt
Outlook 2007
Vista
Thanks!
Anybody have any ideas?
we started experiencing this too.
At first, it was just one person and then another. I noticed this morning I had the same issue.
Appointments created on my desktop machine do not sync to my phone. However, appointments created on my device will sync to my desktop.
I have been unable to resolve the issue so far.
I think I may try going back to outlook 2003 and see if this issue resolves.
I have had similar problems under XP in the past, where any appointment with a note attached would not sync, also any contact with a photo would not sync.
If you type the following (or cut and paste) into the 'run' window it may help or may not in your case - it certainly sorted my problem out
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
If it doesn't help - as it is a slightly different problem fix, then I am sorry I have no other ideas.
You could also try this site which is where the above fix came from originally:
http://forums.pocketpcfaq.com/viewforum.php?f=63
NOTE that I am talking about XP so not sure if the fix is suitable to try on Vista

I am only posting this so that you know that it does and can work - I have (at least so far) using the ROM in my sig - and Office 2007 on an XP Pro machine had no problems synching. I sync messages, contacts, calendar tasks notes and favorites.
FYI,
Bill
I have some variables I did not mention before such as groupwise and Vista OS, not to mention what we are changing in the server background.
Here is the 'shotgun' approach I used:
I noticed today my calendar was not syncing.
Appointments added on my PC would not sync to my device.
Appointments added on my device would sync to my PC.
(POSSIBLE PROBLEM #1)
I uninstalled Office 2007, rebooted and installed Office 2003 and the GroupWise connector.
The installation detected an install of GroupWise and asked to remove it…..I said yes.
(POSSIBLE PROBLEM #2)
During that process another message indicated that it was configured to use an ‘OFFLINE’ mailbox (It was configured to use ONLINE mailbox) did I want to delete the box. I said yes.
I launched Outllook 2003 and all was good.
(POSSIBLE PROBLEM #3)
Connected my device and WMDC launched and I got an error indicating a memory read write error cancel or proceed. I told it to proceed and the sync started but never progressed or completed.
I deleted the partnership between my device and computer. It warned that all contacts and mail and appointments synced with only that device would be removed. I said ok.
Connected my device and it removed the partnership and items described above.
I created a new partnership and it synced and everything worked.

how do I transfer contacts from windows contacts?

I got windows Vista, and i can't figure how to do nothing with the sync or the mobile device manager, its like it has no options for any of that.
how do i transfer my contacts that are now in "Windows contacts" to my Diamond ?
- also, appearntly i can't do anything with my vista, stuff just won't work, it won't sync (or i don't know how) any one has experience with this ?
I think im gonna go back to my iphone this phone is driving me crazy it's too complicated for a phone and it's annoying on top of all.
Thanks in advance.
Use the owner manual

Sorry for my english, but I have the contacts sicronized with vista and XP my 2 notebooks.
For this I user the owners manual and resolve the problem. I dont remember how because i dont have problems. I change many times the room, and syncorized again without problems.
Carlos
but how do u sync ? using what software ? i see the device it says: connect in the mobile device center but there is no options there to choose what to do just shows that its connected.
and when i try to flash a rom it says im not synced
As far as I know (and from a quick Google search), it's not possible to sync contacts from Windows Contacts. Only Outlook's contacts are supported.
Wouldn't it be easier to sync your contacts via your Windows Live Messenger or Outlook? I have my contacts stored in my messenger contact list and when I sync it with Windows Live the same information is synced to my contacts.
But i can't sync at all, I don't have active sync or anyway to choose my device and click sync it ! .. ?

Well then the first step would be to get ActiveSync. It's a free download from Microsoft (remember if you have Windows Vista or 7, get Windows Mobile Device Center instead).
The problem then is the fact that you don't have Outlook so you won't be able to sync anything. As VerusAmos said above, the best option if you don't have Outlook is to use the Windows Live contact sync. Of course, I'm not sure how this will help if you have all your contacts in Windows Contacts format.
It does seem pretty stupid to me that MS would just ignore people who don't have Outlook.

WMDC on Windows 8 PC and Office 15 Preview

Hello,
I have installed Windows 8 (x64) + Office 15 Preview (x86) and when I connected my Windows Mobile 6.5 (Topaz) on PC it installed WMDC 6.1 (6.1.6965) and my phone got detected and started Sync with the Outlook profile. But IT FAILED during Sync.
Error:
Exchange ActiveSync encountered an error. If this condition persists, please contact your System administrator.
Not sure if this is going to work. If any one has got this working please let me know the workaround.
Note: The outlook was without any email configured. It was only for Address book and calender.
Thanks.

Thanks orb3000, But this was for Windows 8 Desktop OS for PC, not for Win Phone 8. So I hope this is the right forum?
Thanks.
I actually believe that this is the wrong forum.
Most likely WMDC can't work correctly with the new version of Outlook - at least that would be my guess. You could try it with a version of Outlook you used prior to Windows 8. As Microsoft sees Windows Mobile as 2 years dead I'm pretty sure they won't put much work into Office compatibility with it.

Agree with the forum .
Yes and also thinking it is the Outlook 15 that cant work properly with the OLD Sync Framework that WMDC uses. May be when we will have the RTM it may work, but not sure .
Thanks.
no more MAPI
It seems there will be no more MAPI in office 15 (replaced by RPC over HTTPS like in Outlook Anywhere)
And I think WMDC is using MAPI for sync so that's finished.
you will need to use Office 2010 if you want to sync WM phone
WMDC 6.1 not working with Windows 8 and Office 2010

Hi guys,
Just upgraded to Windows 8, it installed WMDC 6.1 as part of the process. Now my sync with my HTC Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.1) isn't working, despite the fact that I am using MS Office 2010. MS Partner Support (I am a member of the MS Partner Network) is still investigating.
Anyone has any suggestions/clues?
If this isn't fixed soon, I may have to switch to iPhone, as Windows Phone 8 is still months away.
Cheers!

Having the identical problem with my Samsung ACE I-325. No clue why.
Anyone??????
Windows 8, Office Outlook 2010, Windows Mobile Device Center WMDC, Windows Mobile 6.x
Same sync problem on Windows 8 RTM (x86) and Office Outlook 2010 Pro about Windows Mobile Device Center.
I have tryed with many Windows Mobile 6 phones, but the problem seems always the same.
I can just sync Notes, but not Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, etc.
It seems like WMDC CAN'T access (write/read) to Outlook.pst file.

[Q] HTC Sync Manager and Outlook 2013 64-bit version

Trying to sync Contacts and Calendar with Outlook, but it fails with the following error: Unable to sync. Please reconnect your device. [1016]. I must point out that I can sync anything else like music, videos, pictures and bookmarks, but not contacts and calendar. Sync completes normally if those are not included. Here's the system info:
OS: Win 8 64-bit
HSM version: 2.0.52.0
Outlook version: 2013 64-bit
I'm assuming that the problem is with the running of the 64-bit version of Outlook (the same as in iTunes), although the HTC web site is stating that the 64-bit version of the Outlook is supported.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
yes, exact same problem. HTC say outlook 2013 not supported

I've contacted HTC to find out, but according to their web site below it supposed to be supported:
http://www.htc.com/au/software/htc-sync-manager/?section=Requirement
Same issue as well. I was hoping there'd be something on this.
Possible solution...
Ran into the same '1000' error after trying to setup my music, pictures, and files to sync to Outlook 2007 (albeit 32-bit version). When I was doing this one of the last things I tried doing was setting up the 'Files' tab to sync my documents over to my HTC One. I didn't like the way it put the files on the phone, so I removed all the folders from the application. However, I failed to turn off the 'Sync documents from the following locations on this computer' checkbox. The next time I tried syncing (a few days later), I got the '1000' error. I tried doing lots of things, searching the web, to no avail. When I turned this option off (since there were no folders listed in the display), I was able to sync without receiving the error. I turned the option for the Files back on (again without any folders specified to sync), I got the '1000' error again. So now it's off and I've had no issues syncing since.
Hope this helps.

The problem got fixed with the latest HTC Sync release (now 2.1.54.0). If it doesn't work with the latest release than it would mean that HTC does not provide backward compatibility with earlier versions of Windows OS or Office 2007. Check with HTC what is still supported.

I have checked with the latest software update and didn't help. On the internet you can find that it's not depend on a platform because to many various times and configurations happened. Finally I have installed and done what I want using the Android Sync Manager WiFi. You have to google for newest executable version because homepage download is not working.
