I am having an issue with my phone shutting down on a full charge! I have searched the forum about this issue and it seems that it is an app causing it. I have un installed all apps but the phone still shuts down. I found the captivate keep alive app but had rather try to resolve the issue instead of patch it. Most of the posts Ive read were about rooted phones but mine is still stock. How do I back up my apps to my sd card and do a master reset to try to resolve the issue?

I don't really know of a way to do a app backup on a phone that isn't rooted/modded. Normally I use Titanium Backup, but you need root to use that, and you don't want to send your device back rooted
Hello,
for a few days now i have something strange going on with my galaxy s. When i reboot the device, somewhere around the moment you can enter the pincode for the sim, the phone shakes one time first and and then two times as if there is something crashing.
After that all seems to be working fine... That is, until i notice up to two times now, an app went missing, from which i can't remember i removed it. After i reinstall the app, all settings i configured before for that app where there in place...
I am not sure if these two issues have something to do with each other...
I am running the stock Froyo rom 2.2.1 with the speedmod kernel (k12t)...
Is there someone out there who has an idea?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Mart
Did you recently change to the froyo 2.2.1 rom, and did problems only occur after changing?
Did you do a full wipe when changing?
Thanks you for the reply...
well no, i am running the 2.2.1 for a few weeks... As far as i am able to point to the moment it started it was just after i removed the battery when the phone was locked (i mistakenly thought it was off). After i placed back the battery and started the phone, i started noticing the possible crashing...
A day or 2 later i noticed an app was lost, the icon was still on the desktop, but it was a green android (like that from the market) and won't start. Because i didn't remember removing the app i looks strange to me. After reinstalling the app all settings i configured before where in place, as if wasn't gone for a while... That's why i notice it, because when i remove an app, i normally make sure everything is removed including settings...
Up until now i have found two of these in a strange way lost apps...
Because there was some time between the removing of the battery with the start of the first issue and noticing these lost apps, i am not really sure they are connected...
It seems that you have any kind of data corruption. If the phone shakes 1 and then 3 times, it is saying that some process has stopped. Also if you lost some app without your intervention... looks like I said. Consider backup your data, wipe and reinstall.
Good luck
Hi Guys,
Recently my phone started acting up with periodic reboots but now it seems that every few minutes the phone will reboot. I tried a few different roms and have experienced the same thing. I have also tried reformatting the SD card as well as the partitions but the same thing occurs.
The only time the phone doesnt reboot is when it is being charged. Does this mean my battery is damaged? I went ahead and placed an order for a new battery, but I was curious if a damaged battery could cause the constant reboots?
It could be hardware or software issues. So, you need to tell us what you have done recently to your N1 and which rom, recovery, radio.....you are using. Did you try to go back to stock rom?
Have you tried pulling a log cat?

I have been using Rod's Miui rom for the past few weeks without problems. The problems started a few days ago and have gotten progressively worse, so I tried a few other roms (Miui-Au, Formel's Miui, and Cyanogen 6) but experienced the same thing.
I have reformatted and repartition my SD card as well. I am using the 5.12.00.08 radio with RA's latest recovery.
Log cat?

Ok so I just downloaded alogcat. How do I read or interpret this?
Everything is color coded, ruth errors and high priority issues in red and orange...

Hey guys, I have been looking around, and I don't think anyone else is having this issue, so I thought I would go ahead and start a topic about it.
Before reading these problems, keep in mind that everything on the phone works like it should normaly, but some of the text in the UI is wierd.
I was wondering if anyone running CM7 latest nightlies (post 2.3.5) and Glitch kernel are having a problem with the phone displaying things out of place. For example, when my phone is charging, the phone says "Charged" instead of what it's percentage is. When the phone's charge is less than 20%, it says that "No SIM card detected", rather than the suggestion to plug my phone in.
Instead of cell phone displaying in the contanct list, it shows the phone numbers as "work fax"
When plugged in to USB, it gives me the USB mode error instead of saying that it is plugged into USB.
Several buttons in the UI have mixed up text, and show things such as "%s%n" at times.
I believe this is not a theme chooser problem, as it persists through different themes.
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem? Like I said, it's not hindering phone performance, it is just a little annoying.
If your are using the latest nightly, the kernel was updated. And so glitches kernel will break any fixes and mostly likely mess up your phone. Best thing to do is either downgrade or use stock kernel
Alright, I think I might just go with the stock kernel; too bad BLNs arn't on there though...
However, I thought other people are running latest nightlies just fine on Glitch?
Reflash maybe?
I've reflashed a half dozen times, even did factory reset and all, but still the same thing.

Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

Come to think of it, mine also reboots when disconnecting from USB storage mode. I thought maybe this was buy design? Maybe not!

Do you use antiviral software? Start by removing that. Kaspersky have messed up almost all my Android devices.

why would you need to pay anything if the phone is under warranty ?
I also have this issue, I found out that its the power button..

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...
