I did a recover of my installed Cognitionv2.3b8 ROM using ROM Manager and now for some reason my phone doesn't get 3G data (or any mobile data) even though it says it's activated. How can I fix this?

Because you installed a new ROM, you need to re-setup your APN. These settings are carrier specific, and can be found on the carrier website (usually).
You edit (or create APN's) in Settings=> Wireless and Network=> Mobile Networks=> Access Point Names.
Everytime you flash a ROM (because you wipe the data from the phone), you will need to set these up.
If you are having finding your carrier settings, let me know what carrier, and I will see if i can help.

My Captivate can read the SIM Card, but I can't connect to the AT&T service.
I go to Settings > Wireless & Network > Mobile Netoworks > Network Operators > And select AT&T, but it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network."
On Perception 9.5, When I do the same thing, It says "Unable to connect. Try again later."
I flashed other ROMs and they all do the same thing.
Help?
Are you using an AT&T sim that has a data plan enabled?

Did you flash a new rom recently? Maybe the modem isn't playing nice.
If nothing else, go get a new sim from the local store and see if that fixes it.

Yeah, I flashed multiple roms (Perception, Doc's, Darky, GingerClone...). They all do the same thing.
I guess I will just head over to AT&T and get a new SIM.
Got my Captivate last week.
I cannot browse on 3G, everything else seems to work fine: email, market, youtube, etc.
When turn on the Wi-Fi, it do browse perfectly.
Download Skyfire to see if there was a difference but still can't browse on 3G.
Did a lot of search before posting and don't find anyone with the same problem.

Could be a problem with ur modem. Try using JK4 modem.
check your apn settings, they can be found on here
Check your parental settings on your AT&T account. Does your 3G browsing say this web page can not be viewed at this time? I had similar issues before and it was a setting that I had never touched but somehow it was turned on
The browser reads: Access to this URL has been blocked.
Check the APN settings:

If you do a google search, you'll find here and there forum posts saying that it could be a problem on the AT&T side.
I had exactly the same problem (by the way Firefox was the only browser that still worked on 3G). I contacted a tech support through a chat on the website. It is easier this way because there will be mostly waiting and little interaction. The tech representative first restarted some service (I had to pull the battery out for this step). It did not worked, then he contacted some level 2 specialist (have no idea what's that means), after that there was Tier 3 (or Level 3 - don't remember) support, and at the end everything started working.
Don't know what they changed but apparently it was some setting that only Level 3 (or Tier 3?) tech support has access to.

I just flashed Overcome 3.1 on the my ATT Galaxy Tab 7. The rom is super smooth. Everything appeared to go flawlessly however once completed I was unable to establish a proper data connection.
Its shows 4 bars and says connected to ATT as the "Network" under the Status menu. However the "Mobile Network State" is listed as disconnected.
If I go into the Mobile Network Settings. Under Network Operators ATT is listed under Auto Connect and if I rescan it accepts the choice and then says Registered on Network.
I cannot browse the internet. I called ATT and they were able to send me a SMS so there is some sort of connection. We could not troubleshoot any further as there systems are down.
I did a vanilla Overcome Install. Is there a post install step that I need to do? I seem to remember a similar issue with my Dell Streak that involved modifying my APN settings. Here are the APN settings for the device. (these are the Overcome defaults i believe)

I read this on this forum somewhere, and has always worked for me when reflashing. This is ONLY for the Pay as You Go data service to my knowledge. Your mileage may vary.
I changed my APN to the following EXACTLY:
Name: Broadband
APN: Broadband
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
User name: blank
Password: blank
Sever: leave blank (Will read: <not set>)
MMSC: not set (delete whats in here)
MMS proxy: not set (delete whats in here)
MMS port: not set (delete whats in here)

MNC: 410

APN type: internet
I always get a connection this way. No MMS, but I don't use it anyway, that's what my phone is for.
The "broadband" apn is only for the sim card that came with a stock at&t tab, and not for the sim cards we all took from other phones.
For the former phone sim cards, wap.cingular or isp.cingular apn's.
The setting should be to "auto".
You didn't mention your modem - baseband.

Baseband: I9000UGJK3
Modem: I am not sure how to verify this on the device (Im an n00b). I did follow the wonderful guide on Team Overcome and it recommended using "JK3 Modem" During the install. I would assume this is what I am using. How can I verify this?
PS. I wapped in my phone SIM card and everything works just fine. I can even make phone calls!

This did the trick! I used these settings with the replacement SIM card they gave me at the ATT store...
Good job. The baseband is the modem, so you are using JK3 - that's the best choice for you.
Downloading the AT&T Widget seemed to of helped: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898688
I know there is a thread around about this but a few nights ago i flashed the V20c and put the apn settings in and had the best data ive had.
well i was messing around with roms and had to flash the v20c again well now after putting the apn in again i get now MMS and slow data? any ideas
Geez everything worked flawlessly when i first flash v20c. MMS data. now im using the same damn settings and its crap!
People double and triple wipe factory settings sometimes. Ive always only ever done it once but after about 4 flashes of V20c and V20b I've noticed tons of weird issues each time. It's probably cause I didn't do muliple wipes between them and stuff carried over. That would be my suggestion to you. Here are the settings everyone else is using.

I however didn't have much luck with those settings. Seems like my baseband crashed more often or I had MMS issues. So I copied the settings from my wifes LG Thrill. This is what I'm using with no problems (maybe 1 baseband crash a day a opposed to 5)
Notice, 2 seperate APNs, one is selectable as carrier service, the other just acts for MMS and other stuff.

These work best for me.. no web or mms issues..
LG thrill v20c baseband with thiaz 2.5
That's all I got to say bout that...
I really don't care what settings I put in, I cannot send or receive mms. I have read a million of these posts, and not a single one works. For internet data I use-
Name: ATT HSDPA
APNhone
Data works great. But for mms, I am using the exact settings in the above post and nothing. I have tried everything I can read on it and to no avail. When I put my sim in my Skyrocket, I receive pics just fine, so I know it is not an account issue. Just cant seem to get this thing to work correctly.
Hello All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone. I am currently on AT&T. I needed to know the APN settings for it. For the first time i see that at $50 GoPhone has included unlimited data now. So i was hoping to make use of it. I have googled and found out many different settings for it. Some same, some with minor changes. But none of them work. I put I know i wont be able to get LTE. But need the normal settings to start using data service.
I currently have this:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: blank
Port: blank
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
