MMS USER AGENT SWITCHER...Its a waste otherwise - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Apologies for an incorrect posting earlier,
as always with new HTC phones, the mms pictures appear too small and tiny upon receipt. The problem lies with useragent not recognized by the operator.
Is there an application that makes u change the user agent for mms?
Is there a desire hd mms.apk available with user agent change?
Please help me since this is a waste of screen with tiny mms

Update
There is a eclair mms.apk avavilable but i dont know if that will work with the Sense launcher and froyo 2.2
I am on stock ROM. Really the mms size is pissing me off.
Any clues?

SMS lagging on all 6.5 roms?

I just installed Laurentius' L26 rom and the SMS interface is very slow, I was wondering if this is just a problem with his rom or is it slow in every wm6.5 rom?
Also, is there any way to get back the "people" tab (for your favorite contacts) from the old TF3D?
Thanks
try the latest EnergyROM 11/10, the SMS is fast enough for normal use. It's so much better than any other ROM there in earlier dates. Of course if you have threads over 100 SMS, it will become slower, but still useable.

Well its not the exact same problem but here goes:
When i get a sms it dosnt display the name of my contact on the manila tab - i just shows the number. Ive checked and double checked and the numbers are the same - any idea whats the problem?
Oh yea and its quite slow on the sms part

MMS sending problem
I have no problem with SMS sending and receiving using HTC Messaging, and no problem in receiving MMS. However, I still cannot send MMS out from HTC Messaging, even though I have copied exact the MMS Server settings as in Arcsoft MMS.
I've this sms problem as well. When I have more than 25 sms manila still shows me 25 sms. And I have the feeling that everything over 25 sms makes my touch hd incredible slow and very vulnerable for freezings. I used so far dutty and pdaviet rom's
I had the same problem here in Hong Kong and the only solution I came up with was adding the country code and area code to all my phone numbers. Now the name shows up when my contacts text.
The 25 limit on the TF3D tab is by design. It's only meant to quickly review the most recent couple of messages you've received. If you want to dig up that one message from this one person from a year ago all that flicking suddenly isn't so fancy anymore If you want to see all your messages the left softkey should do that.
As for the slowness, i've seen this in NRG from October 9th and in Laurentius26. Im on NRG from October 11th now, and decided not to put all my smses on the phone. I'll just keep them on my computer. The empty HTC messaging client is pretty quick ;-)
In answer to first query, depending on what build you are using sms can be slow. Some of the newerbuilds have fixed earlier issues with sms in 6.5, so best advice would be to to read up on a few 6.5 roms and try them out. Would also ask in Laurentius thread as you may find a fix has been cvreated or a new rom released with fix.
In future try posting within related rom thread and search/read before creating a new thread

HTC Messaging Client Integration to Manila 2.1 Brainstorming

I figured its time for me to post a thread on how to integrate the messaging client into the Manila 2.1. My hope is that cooks with more experience and knowledge than I can help with some brainstorming ideas.
Here is where i'm at. I did some research and testing on the device and its apparent that messaging client ties into the windows default messaging client. For example in TF3D when you click all messages it would take to the messaging client which is great and what we want it to do. The problem is when you are in that screen and click on a message it takes you back to the manila 2.1 message overlay which won't send a message at all with the client installed.
What i've done so far is i found a manila 2.0 file that allows you to access the default windows messaging client from the messaging tab and with the HTC messaging client installed it accesses it instead, which is also great. But again I hit the same issue where it when you click all messages and click on a message it takes u right back to the manila 2.1 messaging overlay.
I think the mode9 file needs to be modified and i'm currently messing around in there to see if i can find anything worth wild. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Let me know if this wasn't clear at all as well.
No one has any ideas???? I can't be the only person who wants this
I think this is a great idea. If this can be completed it would be a great triumph for those who are more attached to Manila 2.1 as opposed to 2.5.
I have it half assed working but its not 100% and I can't seem to find the piece to get it to work 100%
bump.. Anyone have any ideas!!!?!?!?!?!?!
I am assuming you will have to mod some 2.1 manila files to make it refer to 2.5 messaging client. I havent looked at it real close, will look at it and see what the dependencies are and stuff...
I'm still trying to make sense of the manila mode9 files and the lua scripts to see if i can do something but nothing seems to be working. I'm actually starting to think i'm going to have to try and modify the exe with a hex editor.
when i including new client messenger from manila 2.5 to 2.1.19.19 i can't send even sms...
Yea thats because you are trying to send it through the manila 2.1 messaging area. If you use the attached file it will then go to the htc messaging client and you will be able to send text messages until you go into the all messages and click on a message.
I honestly can't believe there aren't more posts. Is this something that people just don't want???
Well here is where i'm at. I found the function that is being called when you press all messages. Of course I can't find the declaration of this function. It appears its alling the Shells messaging function. The function i found was ShellLocation_Messaging. I'm going to look deeper to see if i can use this to fix anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Just a thought! I know there is a can to diable 2.5 messaging! Will that provide some hints on how to make messaging work with 2.1?
I've seen the cab but i think its an actual app inistead of just modifying the manila we already have but it might work. I can give it a shot. To tell you the truth I'm starting to think its the contact utility dll that i have to modify.
@bxsteez i appreciate your work.. i yoinked your fixed tab and love it.... works great on my rom.. i have manilla 2.1 working perfect with the leo messaging enhancemen..
Thanks,
Josh
It only kinda works. Go into all messages and click on a text. It will take u back to the manila 2.1 messaging area and then you can't even send a text message at all. I've tried everything i know to get this thing to work. I think the shell messaging client changes when you use htc messaging client. I'm wondering if i integrate an older version of the client if it will make a diff
Does anyone know how to edit the lua scripts. The only programs i've found just constantly crash. I think i found a way to get this to work i just need to be able to edit the script.
I have HTC Messages 1.1 (build 1919.3512) from LEO (EnergyROM) and all is working fine - receivng, sending, composing, etc., all from within HTC Messaging app. It has some graphics glitch, at times, when in landscape. All rest good, SMS and MMS.
I am sure it will get better with higher release versions.
Is this Manila 2.1? And it all works from the manila messaging tab? When you go to all messages and click on a message it doesn't take to the universal contact application?
Hey there,
im not a cook in anyway but i like ur idea.
So, perhaps a little step on the way:
Is there a way to disable 2.1 Messaging?
So that tabbing on a massage brings me to WiMo threaded sms-screen?
Thanks
Yea there is a file that i posted earlier that will do that. It will only kinda do it though. It turns out that in the messaging.lua script it is calling a function to navigate to the people contacts screen which is where the messaging tab is. I feel like if i delete those if clauses and that function call we will have a solution. The problem i'm having is that the stupid compiler keeps crashing with some stupid nonexistant problem.

MMS fix for boost mobile

Okay I may have a mms fix for boost, but it is in .cab format and I'm not sure how or if I can use it. any ideas will help.
APN Settings for MMS on Boost
I'm currently running Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS12] on my Vogue, on Boost Mobile's network, and I am able to send MMS by attaching picture files in text messaging. The only settings I changed were in the default APN:
MMSC: mm.myboostmobile.com (add http: and // in front. Since this is my first post I'm not allowed to post URLs )
MMS port: 80
No other changes to the APN settings are necessary to send MMS.
I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to receive an actual MMS on Boost's network. You will get the text message with a link to the Media Mail page (which never works, at least for me).

Can someone please help me? I used the mm.myboostmobile.com and get a 'error-permanent-system failure' when getting receiving pic mail but could send. Also, my hubby who uses a Boost BB gets a blank message. So I used pcs-boost-mmsc-submit.sun3.lightsurf.net. and I was able to not send media mail but receive it without any problems. I have an energy ROM and using the Arcsoft MMS version you have above. This is so ridiculous. Do I have to use mms program specially for my Sense Energy CRX ROM or what? I do not understand what's wrong with this? Is it because I have an Energy ROM?

Just keep waiting and testing it out, it's not device specific it appears to be network and location specific, read more here: "http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1721560-New-Boost-Mobile-MMS-Settings"
I haven't had a chance to dig my vogue out and try this, but I was thinking you guys might want to grap the mms.apk file from the shabbymod Rom for the Prevails and see if allows MMS texts to pass on through as normal.

MMS Pictures shows as thumbnails

Hello.
Tried reading through the pages that popped under the search option, but couldnt get either the CAB file to work (didnt download)
I've been in contact with HTC support and my Service provider. Both accuse each other of faulty programming.
My problem is:
Every MMS I recieve, shows as 25KB, and are small as thumbnails. Every MMS I send to people, they recieve as 25KB.. If I check my own sent image from my phone, it shows as normal (probably around 117kb with gives fullscreen photo).
Now this started to happen after the Android version 4.0.4 was updated on my phone, and the new HTC Sense version (3.6 or whatever).
Is there any way to bypass this, also tried with Handsam SMS or what the name was with little to no luck.
Will installing a custom ROM work? My settings look OK, 300kb etc. Also tried getting new settings from my service provider with no luck in changes.

[App][JB][MMS] Softbank/MMS/JB with Emoji

Recently I've been so sick of GoSMS with its constant spamming messages and bloated features. It feels so clunky on phone so I'm desperate to search for an alternative that can work well on Softbank (the only reason I stayed with it is because it supports emoji and user agent string).
So I found this version of Mms.apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741152) that supports emoji and decided to modify the agent string to iPhone. The maximum image size allowed is 1024x768, and it seems to work well enough for me. I've heard bigger sizes may cause some problems.
I take no credit in this since the original file is Mms.apk, the procedure to decompile and compile, sign APK is posted all around the net.
This version only works on JB.

Has this been able to receive MMS fine?
Mms are working, but I receive blank messages if the sender is a gmail adress (html mail is not working then i guess?) any solution? (i have a galaxy s3)
zenithz, Thanks for making an emoji JB Mms.apk available. I've been looking around for one from Jellybean to port over to Softbank but you've already done it! I have a version done for ICS in my signature, if anyone finds that helpful.
Nekojitajp, having done a little bit of google searching, I believe the lack of HTML support is not a problem with the MMS apps; I think that the softbank MMS gateway strips HTML from incoming messages. If people want to send HTML messages to you, they need to use either a PC email address, or send it to an i.softbank.jp address, which does not strip HTML (and in fact functions identically to a PC email address, using IMAP).
installation trouble
I’m trying to get S’mail set up for my S3 but nothing has worked so far. I’ve tried everything on this form and then some but I get nothing. I can receive messages but I cannot send.
I have jelly bean installed and rooted. I have the black sim card and I’m using smile.world APN.
Hey, I have the cm10 custom MMS with quick reply and all the other jazz but the only thing that kinda annoys me is that they changed the emoji icons and I seem to have trouble receiving emojis. If I provide you with my MMS.apk would you be able to add your mods to it, or tell me how lol? Thanks

You can receive message but you cannot send? It seems more like your APN setting has some problems. If your MMS agent is incorrect, you can't even receive the message. I don't have an S3 so I can't tell much. Did you try GoSMS for once to see if it works? You can set MMS agent with GoSMS.

What do you mean to have trouble receiving emojis? If the icons are not what you want, you can unpack the APK and replace the icons as you'd please. You have to compile with appropriate framework, and I'm not on CM10 so I can't help you in this

SMS has nothing to do with this. You have to check the SMS center number to make sure it works. Also, if you send an SMS to a number outside softbank, it's not guaranteed to work

Ok thanks. there might be something wrong with the sim card itself. I put it back in my iphone and now that wont send sms messages. I'm going to see if they can replace my sim
The SMS center number is stored in the simcard, changing phone won't help.
Check yours with *#*#4635#*#*, phone information. You'll find the section about the gateway. Be careful not to click Update.
Click Refresh instead to check the current value. Soft bank's one should be
0791180966153900, it's PDU format. If the value is different, update it. If it still doesn't work then you should contact Softbank.

Can anyone build a 4.2.1 version of this, or point me towards how I can do it myself?
The proxy information is all there, but I need to change the user agent for Mms.apk to one of the user agents Softbank accepts. My understanding is I can pull Mms.apk using ADB, use apktool to pull it apart and edit mms_config.xml (or whatever it was called) to change the agent, but I have no idea how to repack it.
I've built one for 4.1.2 but not yet for 4.2. It's pretty eat to do UT yourself, though. As you said, you'll need to use Apktool, and edit the mms_config.xml file. After that you use apktool to repack the file, sign and zipalign it. You'll need the Android sdk. Check out my other posts for more info. Here and here.
