I rooted this cappy, and flashed darky's rom. A week later, got Launcher Pro fc issue. Was just gonna uninstall and reinstall LP, no biggie. But then TiBu started fc. Then I flashed back to stock and flashed the rom again this time with wipe.. When the phone booted up, multiple fc issues. So, I installed Serendipity rom...Two days later, all fc issues returned, cannot call, text, anything. Help please! I am going to flash back to stock for now.
Are your fc from start, or are you restoring first? When you go to stock, are you doing s master clear?
No master clear, just wipe then flash with CWM. Ive done 5 cappys the exact same way, this one seems to not want to play well....
Are you restoring any system data with Tibu? If so don't do that. Only restore user apps.
That's the only idea I have right now, hope it helps.
I am not restoring system data, thanks for the help.

I had wipe and reinstall modaco's froyo update after I messed up during adb, trying to fix my market issue. My phone was in a boot cycle, but I was able to wipe and reflash the update. I have been using froyo for a few days with no problems. Just certain apps were not on the market.
Now after the wipe and reinstall, my news feed on the facebook app will not update. I have cleared data, and rebooted. Nothing helped. Profiles, messages, and photos work. Just does not update my news feed. I get "an error has occured fetching data [null]".
Any ideas?
The Market issue can be resolved by flashing another 2.1 ROM. When you sign back into Google after the flash, Market wakes back up. Luckily for me I was running Cyan 5053 and I upgraded to 5070. I've heard you can nandroid beforehand, wipe, flash new rom, sign in, download one app, wipe, flash old rom, nandroid restore and it should work. Like I said, flashing the upgrade woke it up for me.
Facebook.. I'm still having that issue.
Thanks for the reply, good to know I am not the only one. It must be a facebook or it is my account issue, because it is doing the same thing on my HTC Hero running 2.1. Getting the same null message.
Hey guys,
I'm brand new to this stuff, and I've searched the forums to the best of my abilities and I don't see a fix yet.
I just flashed the new Cognition ROM and used Titanium Backup to "restore all apps with data". During this process, it went through my apps one by one, and asked me if I wanted to install them or cancel and not install them. I picked and chose which apps I wanted to keep and which to discard. As an aside, the apps in question were things like games/puzzles for my kid to play with, and games and such that I had downloaded from the Market to try out but forgot to uninstall.
So, after everything was restored, I started to test stuff out, and everything works...except incoming calls. I get the "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. please try again. force close"
Is there any fix for this besides going back to stock and retrying the new ROM? If there is a solution to this a link to the thread would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for posting this, I am having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, what is the best way to go back to stock?

Click to collapse
So I use ODIN to go back to completely stock and try the ROM again, but use the "restore missing apps with data" option?
You should click restore missing apps + data. That should fix it

Maybe I'm just picky or don't trust TiBu completely, but I always restore my apps individually. Never had a problem. I've been back and forth between Cognition and darkys ROMs and (of course) stock on my AT&T Cappy.
Yup restore back to stock... and if you had issues with doing a TiBu restore with "Apps and Data" I would recommend just using "Apps Only" option in TiBu.
BUT... I would test the ROM out before doing the restore to ensure it's not a ROM issue first.
If you do not wish to go back to stock, there were quite a few suggestions in the Cog 3.0x thread on this issue. A few people in that thread simply had a bad flash. One just needed to do a good solid reboot to fix it. Another suggestion was to clear the dalvik and cache using ClockWorkMod Recovery (red version). Lastly, lots of people FC'ing with the phone process were experiencing problems due to the ogg files in phone.apk being compressed when they should not be (reportedly) and was fixed by disabling the "Call Status Tone" in settings/call settings/all calls/call status tone. One of these could be your problem.
If you wish to just try again the simple way, it would probably be your best bet to Odin back to stock, do the master clear (it seems to be a topic of debate if this is the best thing to do, but it is mentioned in a few different tutorials), and flash again. Then TiBu to restore your apps+data (as mentioned... no system data, just app data) again.
If you wish to try to fix the problem, one place to start might be a fixed phone.apk in the Cog 3.0x thread in the Development section for Captivate. It is posted by Andrewk_77 somewhere between page 85 and 90, I think (sorry, I've been trying to keep up with the reading of that thread for days in order to head off any problems I may run into with Cog 3 and it's kinda blurring together). Otherwise you'll have to try to search out other solutions in that thread.
Edit:
Found that post:

I know that they don't seem to be describing the exact same problem, but might be worth a shot.
I reflashed Cog 3.02, didn't use TiBu to restore anything, just set it up myself again. Phone works fine now.
Though I do have a question about flashing back to stock: would I just put the stock ROM (in this case Rogers 2.2) onto the SD, and flash it using CWM? Or do I need to use ODIN, in which case I would get the AT&T ROM? Thanks for helping a newbie out.
Hi all,
I've done a search on this (both XDA-wide, and Google) and no-one seems to have a valid answer for me yet.
I am running Gingerbread (PDA = XWJVB, Phone = XXJVK, CSC = XAJVK) via a Doc's beta RomKitchen build. I am aware that I am running a beta and things can get a bit hairy, but this problem is really annoying.
Basically after the rom flash, I went and got Titanium Backup working again, and started restoring my favourite apps and widgets. All worked fine, then I had to do a reboot for some reason. All the restored apps are still in the apps folder , but greyed out and with an SD-card image overlaid to tell me they are on the SDCard. They ALL no longer work but give the "application is not installed on your phone" error, which is annoying, because before the reboot, they all worked.
I have tried twice to restore them from Titanium backup, and each time they only work until the next reboot breaks them, meaning the only apps I get to keep are the system apps and the ones I cooked into the Rom.
Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone at all?
Hi, I had a similar problem, with one difference: it started after a while. I had Doc's JVK installed, I restored my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly for a while. At some point I noticed that the apps installed recently would disappear after a reboot. The worst thing is that even the market disappeared at some point.
To solve the problem, I flashed several times a WIPE version of Doc's rom along with several wipes from recovery. It didn't work right away and it took me several reflashes.
No problems since then.
Cheers
Thanks for that.
After much reading, I reckoned it was probably the Fugu kernel doing most of the damage, so I flashed a Chainfire XWJVB kernel, then a recooked Doc rom without the Fugu kernel. Lubberly Jubberly now
After getting Clockwork Mod working and making a Nandroid backup, I decided to apply hardcore's Speedmod Lagfix. When it was done I ended up with most of my apps force closing, including Launcher Pro, which made it very difficult to do anything. I was able to switch to TW Launcher so I could do things. I tried to restore some apps and data with TI, but get a message saying my phone won't allow it for security reasons. I was able to previously as I installed Amazon Market app on my rooted Cappy with stock Froyo. I found out after lots of work that if I uninstalled and re-installed apps they worked fine. Hoping to avoid having to do that. I also tried the fix permissions options in recovery to no avail.
Did I do something wrong or have I left a step out in applying the lagfix? My thoughts are I may have to do a nandroid restore, but am hoping not to. My plans are to flash Fasty ROM eventually. Is it better to get this cleaned up first or restore back to stock, without lagfix possibly, and then flash?
Thanks for any assistance.
if you're going to flash a different rom why worry about problems your having on your current os? its kinda like asking this:"windows xp is giving problems should i resolve those before installing windows 7?"
the enabling of the lagfix makes a nandroid backup, wipes everything to format to ext4 and then restores everything. sounds like perhaps that data was corrupted. make a fresh tibu backup, disable lagfix, do a wipey wipe of data, cache, and dalvik from cwm and flash a new rom, and then only restore MISSING APPS + DATA. DO NOT RESTORE ANY SYSTEM DATA.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try it later when I get home. I guess I'm being a bit careful and want to be comfortable in taking the next step. Since this is my only phone for right now, I can't afford to be without it very long. I've been looking for a cheap, broken screen, yet working Cappy on eBay to let me toy around with.
This was my first rom i flashed and i have never had problems with it. I ended up upgrading to S7 liked it but tried out mosaic 8 I lost all my market links so I tried every thing you can think of to get them back. I cleared the data, force stop and reboot, used the market doctor, wiped back to stock and nothing continued to work. Wiping back to stock mosaic worked untill i rebooted and it went back to nothing. This was so frustrating I decided to flash back to S6.4 because I never had problems with it. I flashed it and restored my apps with titanium and no market links. I reflashed it and individually downloaded each app and they were in my apps untill I rebooted my phone. Tried the exact same steps as with Mosaic and I got nothing.
bump, anyone?
Someone must have an idea for me
