[Q] Serendipity 6.4 Market links - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This was my first rom i flashed and i have never had problems with it. I ended up upgrading to S7 liked it but tried out mosaic 8 I lost all my market links so I tried every thing you can think of to get them back. I cleared the data, force stop and reboot, used the market doctor, wiped back to stock and nothing continued to work. Wiping back to stock mosaic worked untill i rebooted and it went back to nothing. This was so frustrating I decided to flash back to S6.4 because I never had problems with it. I flashed it and restored my apps with titanium and no market links. I reflashed it and individually downloaded each app and they were in my apps untill I rebooted my phone. Tried the exact same steps as with Mosaic and I got nothing.

bump, anyone?

Someone must have an idea for me

Facebook app and market issue on froyo

I had wipe and reinstall modaco's froyo update after I messed up during adb, trying to fix my market issue. My phone was in a boot cycle, but I was able to wipe and reflash the update. I have been using froyo for a few days with no problems. Just certain apps were not on the market.
Now after the wipe and reinstall, my news feed on the facebook app will not update. I have cleared data, and rebooted. Nothing helped. Profiles, messages, and photos work. Just does not update my news feed. I get "an error has occured fetching data [null]".
Any ideas?
The Market issue can be resolved by flashing another 2.1 ROM. When you sign back into Google after the flash, Market wakes back up. Luckily for me I was running Cyan 5053 and I upgraded to 5070. I've heard you can nandroid beforehand, wipe, flash new rom, sign in, download one app, wipe, flash old rom, nandroid restore and it should work. Like I said, flashing the upgrade woke it up for me.
Facebook.. I'm still having that issue.
Thanks for the reply, good to know I am not the only one. It must be a facebook or it is my account issue, because it is doing the same thing on my HTC Hero running 2.1. Getting the same null message.

android.process.media FC

I keep getting this error while trying to download anything from the Market.
"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I'm running JH7 with SRE2b6 and this morning flashed the evo blackbar minimalistic v1.2 theme. I'm assuming the minimalistic theme is the culprit for this, although before JH7 I didn't have this problem while using it, though I themed that through Metamorph and this through stock recovery. Any ideas on how I can this fixed? Thanks!
I should also make note that I'm not able to access any of my images via the Gallery anymore... I tried flashing a different Minimalistic mod, tried using ROM Manager to fix permissions, all to no avail. Haven't seen anything else posted on here that I could try, hesitant to reload my Nandroid that is a couple days old :/
I've had this same error many times. Everytime I had to nandroid back to a backup weeks old as it only happened like every other month. For future reference all you need to do is nandroid backup complete wipe and restore.
I tried everything else and nothing worked including installing the rom on top of her over again, reinstalling the kernel etc. The only thing that worked for me was the above.
Clear app data?

hope im not in trouble...

Ive been flashing roms for some time, though this is my first attempt on the captivate.
Followed the instructions np.
Using rom manager backed up my stock rom.
made sure it saved to sd.
used titanium made sure all apps were backed up.
downloaded cogs newest version.
opened rom manager selected flash for captivate.
turned phone off.
rebooted into rom manager
wiped phone via directions.
selected cog via sd card
now Ive been sitting at the installing update window for roughly 20 minutes without the progress bar moving at all...
any advice?
Post in the right section. This should be in Q&A.
Also try a battery pull. And restart the install. You may have gotten a bad download as well.

[Q] Multiple foce closings

I rooted this cappy, and flashed darky's rom. A week later, got Launcher Pro fc issue. Was just gonna uninstall and reinstall LP, no biggie. But then TiBu started fc. Then I flashed back to stock and flashed the rom again this time with wipe.. When the phone booted up, multiple fc issues. So, I installed Serendipity rom...Two days later, all fc issues returned, cannot call, text, anything. Help please! I am going to flash back to stock for now.
Are your fc from start, or are you restoring first? When you go to stock, are you doing s master clear?
No master clear, just wipe then flash with CWM. Ive done 5 cappys the exact same way, this one seems to not want to play well....
Are you restoring any system data with Tibu? If so don't do that. Only restore user apps.
That's the only idea I have right now, hope it helps.
I am not restoring system data, thanks for the help.

[Q] Can't install apps

My phone will not install any apps. I was using Cognition 2.1 and I wanted to try different ROMS. I went back to stock using ODIN and then flashed Cognition 4. I couldn't install apps in Cognition so I tried various other ROMs. I'm not able to install apps in any of them. I went back to stock again. This time I did a master clear. I then flashed a new kernel and then Firefly 3. I still have the same problem. Everything else seems to work fine, but I can't get anything to install or uninstall. If I go to market and try from there, it won't do anything after I push OK. When I try to reinstall from Titanium Backup it will say "installing" forever without actually installing anything.
Firmware 2.2
Baseband version I9000UGJK4
Kernel 2.6.32.9 hardcore speedmod-1897-k13e-500hz#32
Build # Firefly 3.0
Does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Wow you pretty much went through everything possible to fix that
Have you tried clearing your market's data/cache?
concider this a bump as I'm not sure what more could be done (beside maybe factory reset from cwm).

Having the same issue... Went Darky's 9.4 - Stock - Continuum v4.
I had a problem with not installing apps through market and I went ahead after trying everything and went back to stock and reflashed cognition

Glad to see i'm not the only one. i've tried flashing back to stock and everything, but everytime i reinstall cognition 4.3.2 i can't install any apps. I reflashed the cogkernel, flashed stock, but i always end up having to just reinstall 4.1 to get it working again.
EDIT: or i don't really reinstall 4.1 i just restore my backup of 4.1 again and it starts working again. And, i don't get the just infinite installing thing. when try to install apps, it just does the 3 vibration thing and reboots.
EDIT2: odd. i had tried doing a data cache wipe tons of times, and decided to try it one last time before i restored the backup, and now it works!
