[Q] Armani Font APK? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have no clue how to pull things out of the source, or out of Cognition 3.02 for what I want. I'm looking for an APK for the Armani font. Anyone able to produce that or point me in the direction of where to download it? Thanks in advance!

Edit: apk removed

does this work on other phones like the streak?
ripped out the ttf files from the apk and they work like a charm on my dell streak... loving it.

I made a clockwork flashable ZIP so I could try this out on Serendipity; grabbed the fonts from dg's Cognition ROM, and they look great. Attached the ZIP if anybody wants it.

Did not work for me either.
I ended up extracting fonts from zip and moved to font folder using root explorer...all worked fine!

As in the install failed, or what? It worked fine for me on Serendipity with the SpeedMod kernel. Using RootExplorer also does the trick if you push the fonts.

I tried installing from recovery and it was a no. Said invalid zip file. I did not try from the clockwork app...maybe that is the problem.

Weird; yeah, I got an installation aborted when I just tried to install it. I think it might be a bad upload...gonna try the version still on my computer. And maybe reupload the file.

Yeah, the ZIP on my computer got fudged up somewhere between my computer and XDA. Fixed it and tested it; installation via recovery should work fine now. ZIP is attached.

thanks for that, now Phoenix is a little more to my liking

Yeah, it just replaces the default font in the "system/fonts" folder, so any custom font APKs should still be usable.

Awesome

Now my transformation is complete....

Maybe I am blind but I cant see any difference...anyone has screenshot of how it looks?
I still use Times as I like it best but I want to see how this font looks like.

This is an APK I've had in my apps folder for quite sometime now. I don't remember where I got it or even if I made it my self, but it works like a charm. It appears as a new font in your font selection window so you can still use the default one if you don't like the Armani one. I like APKs way more than recovery .zips because you don't have to restart your phone to use them

There was a screenshot I posted a few pages up, but here's a comparison; stock Android on the left, Armani on the right:

A lil confused about meta morph...

everytime I d/l a metamorph theme for the appropriate rom I go though the steps that are provided by the app, but I keep getting error msg, someone like, "invalid zip file or not properly written. Contact developer." Wtf! Everytime? Sheesh! Can someone shed some light on meta morph for me please?

Make sure you are trying the right version. I use an older version that uses like thm extensions or something.
To the post above, MM does work as I have used it many many times and use it now for rotary lock. But I do use an old version as stated. Not the newer and that seems to do the job.

Droidkevlar is correct. Metamorph updated and now requires the themes to include an xml file instead of the old thm file. Your zip files are probably formatted for the old program. I did run across a thread that linked to a program that updates them. They are also pretty easy to update manually. There was a video on YouTube on how to make the new xml file. Sorry, but I do not have any links atm.
--------------------------------
Since I am done watching Lost series finale, I can post the link for the old MM apk. This is what I used. Hope it works out for you.

If it doesnt, I can always upload the apk later when I have time. Now its time for bed time before work. Just let me know.

The metamorph addons in trying to use will not work with old metamorph. But then I use the new metamorph and doesn't work. Gives me the same error messages I mentioned before. any suggests?

Ah, thought you were using a leak, which doesnt have root. You are using one with root on it. That clears that up. And ya, I have noticed for the MM that I have used that worked, the ROM has to be deodex'd.

UPDATED - Cognition 2.2 Beta 9 (+v2.3b4) monochrome status bar and battery mod

UPDATE I modified the Cognition 2.3 Beta 4 (Froyo) framework-res.apk and put in the monochrome battery mod. Power button menu works fine with this. I'm not quite sure who all created these I just mixed them.

Normal disclaimer: I'm not responsible for this not working on your phone or causing your phone damage. I can only guarantee it works on my Captivate with Cognition 2.3 Beta 4.
EDIT: Because the framework-res.apk is different on the latest Cognition v2.3b1+ (naturally since it's a different Captivate Froyo version), I created a new framework-res.apk for those. It's attached here. I will probably only keep the oldest and newest that I have available here. The first is for Cog 2.2B9 and the second is for Cog2.3B4.
Thanks so much for this...exactly what I have been looking for and looks great!

Essentially yes. Because I'm not too familiar with ADB, I used Root Explorer. This is the exact process I used.
I first ransferred meter-framework-res.apk to my SDCard on the phone. Then opened Root Explorer on the phone and navigated to sdcard. I copied meter-framework-res.apk to /system/framework folder. I then renamed the original framework-res.apk to framework-res.apk.old. Then renamed meter-framework-res.apk to framework-res.apk. Then finally rebooted.

Graphic designer and Android theme maker Brian Roberts took Christian’s animation and turned it into a boot animation, originally.
