My N1 has decided to not accept my PIN on the unlock screen, after a factory reset and restore it did it again. No pin seems to be an option, but that makes my data unsafe...Please help.

When the phone boots up and the SIM PIN screen shows up, after entering the PIN the phone shows "Please try again in 26 seconds", effectively not letting me unlock the phone until half a minute has passed. I have rooted the phone but I haven't tampered with the security settings other than going to settings and clearing credentials (Settings -> Security -> Clear Credentials, I did this to get access to the None and Swipe methods of unlocking the screen)
What causes this, and how can I fix it? It's really annoying.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sideloaded 5.1. When it reboots (tried several times), it quickly gets to the device boot pin screen, where it used to sit forever until you entered the pin. Now, it will show the screen, but continue to boot behind the scenes. When you swipe up to unlock after boot, you get the keypad from the original boot pin screen, and the whole thing hangs. I've tried this several times and also disabled/reenabled PIN. NO luck.
Only way past is to immediately enter boot pin when the screen appears, but before finishing the full boot.
Second problem that many are having - trusted places (home/work) do not function after update. If you revert Google Play Services back to pre v7, it works again. I'm sure Google is all over this as many are talking about it.
**UPDATE**
More troubleshooting reveals that this happens only when you have both a startup PIN and SIM pin lock on the phone. If I remove the SIM lock pin, then it boots correctly, stopping at the startup PIN screen until entered. If I add a SIM pin, then it boots "through" the startup PIN, to the SIM PIN screen. Upon entering SIM pin, it takes you to regular lock pin screen, where it immediately hangs until reboot.
Anybody else experiencing this? Both pin's worked fine under 5.0.1
So after upfront to lollipop yesterday. I'm listening to music on my phone, it's off in my pocket. My music stops and disconnects from my Bluetooth. I check my phone only to find it in the middle of a factory reset and all my apps and data are gone. Most of it is recoverable but this is still a nightmare. Has anyone else experienced this?? My phone has a pin so I'm not sure how it got to the factory reset screen. My new apn was set to euinternet after. Any suggestions, should I send it in for service?

Did you have double tap to wake enabled?
Sometimes, I'd find that having double tap to wake while having my phone in my pocket would totally screw with a bunch of random settings like my clock settings in my lock screen etc. Could be possible that your phone somehow factory reset itself in the same way.
It was enabled but still had a pin that I'm surprised if my pocket entered this correctly. Screw tap to wake of this is the reason.
Edit: and now I realize that it also wiped my SD card in the process.
If the unlock PIN is entered incorrectly too many times, a factory reset is performed to make sure your data doesn't end up in the wrong hands. This feature prevents an unauthorized person from systematically guessing your PIN by limiting the amount of retries within a certain period of time. It is built-in to Android and not a Sony feature.
Double tap to wake probably woke your phone up in your pocket and went crazy entering the wrong PIN over and over again until a factory reset was triggered.

Blackberrys had a feature where you had to type the word 'blackberry' after 5 incorrect pins to prevent pocket lockouts.

I had my S10 in auto restart mode. When I happened to check my mobile in morning it was not ACCEPTING my PIN. Ultimately I had to FACTORY reset my phone. Now the problem is that it is not ACCEPTING any new PIN or BIOMETRICS. With a message saying "SCREEN LOCK WAS ALREADY CHANGED. PLEASE TRY AGAIN WITH THE NEW SCREEN LOCK". ANY SOLUTIONS?
I have the same problem, I have not changed the PIN and now i can't unlock the phone, restart... funny joke
SOLVED: restart the phone (Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.) + factory reset
But i havent saved my data. How could i have it restarted without loosing my data? Help. Ayuda
Hello everyone,
today I updated my phone (security update from xiaomi) so i had to restart my phone.
After restart it asked me to insert my PIN instead of Print, so I wasnted to put it in as usual but the pin is just never correct.
IS there a way to go around this WITHOUT LOSING DATA if im the true owner with correct fingerprint, all accounts verified etc?
The phone is not rooted neither with custom recovery.
Method 1:
1. After typing wrong password continuously for 5 times, you will see a screen with message “Phone has been locked” with “Forgot Password” option at the bottom.
try that
