How can I get the SMS timestamp to show the time the SMS was sent instead of the time it was received? Some ROMs such as Serendipity have that feature built in, while others such as Cognition don't. I've asked many times in the Cognition thread on how to get this changed, but I've been ignored. I've done searching many times too and the only info I found was for here.

What ROM are you running?
I hear that the Canadian Rogers(?) ROMs had that problem and there is a fix. I'm not exactly sure that is it, but I bet its better to start somewhere than get no answer, eh?
As seen in my sig, Cognition. 3.03 at the moment. Posted in the Cognition thread numerous times and I was ignored.
Hooray for getting ignored.
Look in the serendipity thread. I have seen the issue discussed with a fix posted there.
As for sigs ....remember that many use the xda app and don't see them which is why the question was asked.

Yea I actually try to follow the Serendipity thread to the best I can. I even asked the question there too, but never got an answer... If my memory is correct, the previous version of Serendipity I used had this feature so I know it's possible to do without an app and stuff.
Grab the mms.apks attached in the thread and one of them will work I am sure.....click on paperclip by thread title to see all attachments in a thread.

That's what the paper clip does? I just thought it shows that something is attached. I'll give it a try and then report back if I find one that shows the time SMS is sent and not the time SMS is received.

Hi,
I installed Dutty's latest 3.9 ROM a couple of days ago and now I am only being notified of roughly 1/3 of the text messages I receive. ie, for 2/3 of the text messages I receive my phone does not vibration or play a ringtone. Anybody else experiencing this?
Cheers, Jamie Kitson

Please post in Dutty's 3.9 ROM thread. If every one of the few 1000 posts relating dutty's ROMs was a new thread, this forum would be a real mess.

Hi Guys
I agree there are TONS of threads on this forum, but somehow, not all of them describe the same steps (or maybe just that I'm a little too confused)
I have a stock unlocked N1 with FRF91 and would like to root my phone
Basically the whole idea behind rooting my N1 is to be able to use ShootMe (screenshot app)
Can someone please give me some step-by-step instructions on how to do it?
I'm actually a n00b at Android, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
I don't think there is a way yet with stock.

I'm glad we agree.
I'll give you a hint, though. You need to find two threads to do what you need. Both the threads that you need are in the first page of the dev forum. The mere act of glancing over the titles of the thread won't get you anywhere, try reading some of them for a change.
EDIT-I take it back, there's only one thread you need to find. And considering how prominent a position it's holding in that forum, it's plain obvious that you haven't bothered to look.

The whole point of these forums is to help people out, not to degrade them. They might be new to the site and dont know how its set up. Try not being a jerk and actually help them out. You know like direct them to the thread w/ a link.

Thanks buddy. I'll try to search a little more to see what thread applies for my situation at the moment.
I am sure that erikikaz must've gone through the thread that he/she thinks applies to me, but a link to it would've been a lot easier.

No, I didn't go through the thread before deciding to not link it. I just know that the thread is there. If you had looked for it, you would have seen it. The previously-mentioned thread has been stickied in the previously-mentioned forum for at least a week now. Considering that stickied topics are an obvious READ-ME-FIRST tactic, well, you should have known better and actually looked.
And yes, it would have been a lot easier--a lot easier for you, had I posted the link. Waiting for someone else to do the work for your is not how you learn.
Hey guys, my text messages are sometimes being sent to the wrong person even though I am choosing the correct person. When I send it the name automatically changes to a different person. This happens randomly.
I am running Cognition 2.2 9.1.3
With 238 posts I'm sure you know this does not belong in the development section.

Yeah he posted in the wrong section, and he should know, but if you are going to post a reply at least try to help. Anyways, are you on FroYo? I had the problem a bit before, only on old versions of Cognition though. Can you please post your set-up?

I think he means a side by side comparison of each ROM based on features, modems, kernels, etc
Difficult due to the ever changing nature of each ROM and the ability to swap out kernels and modems. However, it's a good way to compare the ROMs without having to dig through hundreds of posts in the dev forum

You'd be better off going down the threads in the dev section and reading the first few posts. I guess you could use that list click the links but other than knowing what each rom is based off, it's pretty much useless.

It does tell you kernel, modem, known issues, and release date of most current version (admittedly that part does need updated more often). Which I grieve is about 70-80% of what op asked for. What do you want it to do, install rom for you, too?

if you to other phone's forums they have stickies for available roms and their features....comparing to them...this is little less information and not properly updated....
I went to 6 or 7 other forums, and looked in the development stickies. All I saw was was a list of roms, etc. no mention of more then 1 fact about rom. Tell me again how that'd BETTER?

First time poster so I hope this is an acceptable place for this question. Can someone tell me if and which ROM is the most basic? By this I mean it is a blank slate with everything removed besides items needed to operate the phone, mms/sms, camera and internet browsing. Basically everything removed that cannot be replaced by an app from the market. I tried Preception (I think it was that one) and it was ok for a couple days and then it became unstable so I am using Serendipity.
Thanks everyone...

Stability, try andromeda, basic, go cognition. I run andromeda. There is a reason that rom has been around for so long and the dev thread is so short and always on the second or third page of the forums. Just read that thread and you will see the stabiliy.

I tried Cognition a couple months ago but something happened. Not really sure what. I think I used SGS and removed too much stuff and thought it would be easier to just reflash. I was going to go back to it but it looks like the dev may be awol from reading the thread.
I will try andromeda but I am a minimalist and would like for my phone to be the same where if I personally don't need it but it is available from the market or other means then I don't want it on my phone. (not sure if that makes sense but I am pretty new in the custom phone world)
I've seen many many threads about obvious stuff (which apparently mine was although Google Search did not find what I was looking for.)
So, why was my thread closed but other people get the opportunity to have someone help them, even if it was an (so you say) obvious answer?

Moderator closed your thread probably because a simple search on the forum about htc one kernel should had be enough to find your answer.
Maybe you should start by reading the OP of some kernel threads like elementalx, bulletproof, teamseven etc....
and im sure you'll find an asnwer in like 5 min.
hope it help
I'll try again but I've never been successful searching in xda - only with Google. And the Google search I did only referenced a sense kernel. Hence my question. But I will read and search. Thank you for replying although I still don't understand why my thread was closed when so many others are not!

if you don't want to use the search bar, just go at the root of the htc one forum then click on the ''kernel'' tab. All kernel should be listed there
See! Awesome info follows a "stupid" question!

It did and you were right. I thought it would be rather haphazard to just start reading kernel OPs but once I ruled out the sense kernels (including the first two you named) I was able to find TeaMSeven which did the trick. I'm a happy camper and I appreciate your help and advice!!
Btw, I was hesitant to flash a kernel without being really familiar with it and the Rom I'm using because, in my experience, developers do not support alternate kernels and I didn't want problems. But in this case my desire to have a menu button overrode all caution.

it's cause you're using a mobile app, you need to switch to web-view or use a real browser to see the signatures.

Unfortunately http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=xda (from your sig) only gives me "Network Error", any other place to see that search engine.
Oh, and at OP, you can always use google, but in the search box, add "site:http://forum.xda-developers.com" that will give you results only from xda forums.

Note to the OP. If you have an issue with a moderator decision this is not the way to get it addressed. Please contact the moderator directly and ask why the thread was closed. Moderator discussions will not be discussed like this on an open forum.

In terms on answering your original question which was regarding the HTC logo as a menu option there are a number of custom kernels that offer this feature along with other features
Here are two examples to get you going.
[KERNEL] [Jan 6] ElementalX 11.4 10.10.1 8.4
[KERNEL] [Dec 15] Bulletproof | S2W | L2M | DT2W | BLN
