[Q] I9000 won't boot after factory reset - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a problem with the radio and went to my dealer and he did a factory reset. When the phone boots it now hangs on the Samsung logo. I was running Darky's v5.2 gingerbread edition voodoo. The phone was rooted and the 3 button function was working ok.
Now I can only use the power+down volume+home combo and it goes into download mode and says Downloading... Do not turn off Target!!!
In this mode neither ADB or Odin will connect. If I do a normal boot Odin will connect but i can't do anything. When I try the power+vol down+home boot it just goes into a reboot loop.
i've read all the tricks to get into recovery mode but none are working for me. I need to get it back to factory original so I can send it for warranty repair. The phone is only 2 months old.
Any ideas welcomed.

i'm having the same problem, i was running darky's v8 then i did a factory reset and now it won't bootup, i can get into download mode but not into recovery mode

1. Threads,for this already exists.
2. Download odin and stock firmware from samfirmwares.com
3. Download 512 pit file.
4 flash csc, modem, pda and pit in odin

I've read all the same issue posts but none solve my problem. I can't get Odin to connect to the SG. If I put the SG in download mode with the 3 button combo, Odin won't connect. ADB also can't connect to the SG as the SG won't boot. I've tried everything suggested but it simply won't connect. I guess the SG is now a bin job. The only way to get a connection in Odin is to let the SG boot and hang then connect. Odin can see the SG but you can't do anything unless the SG is in download mode. ADB can't reboot the SG either. Something must be wrong with SBL but I can't find a way to fix it. My fingers are sore from so many 3 key combos over the last few days.

Full brick and leave it in for repair and blame on kies?

All the thread answers require the use of ADB and or Odin. This is the problem, I can't get the SG to connect to Odin when the SG is in download mode. Something is wrong with the SBL so the download mode isn't working. If I could get the download mode fixed the rest is easy. The only time Odin can see the SG is when I let the SG boot normally and it hangs. Then I connect the USB and Odin sees the SG. As it is not in download mode, Odin can't send anything. ADB gives an error that it can't connect to the device so I can't use ADB to put the SG in dl mode. To summarize, I can only get the SG to either hang on boot or go into a faulty dl mode with the 3 key combo.

Sounds more like a USB problem. Change USB port and or remove and reinstall Kies/USB drivers .
jje

so you could never get into recovery mode or only after he did a reset?
if it's not a usb problem as suggested above then i agree with "Full brick and leave it in for repair and blame on kies?", if they can't get it in dl mode or recovery either they won't know what you've done to it, or they might, so leave that as a last option

but before i tell you the odin way..............
feast your eyes on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLYkMk16la8
first flash xwjm8 with odin
Then flash your region's eclair firmware. From there you know the route.
Wish you all the best.
thank you, i shall give it a try right now

oh well u didnt turned on ur debug mode u adb wouldnt read ur phone, the best treatment for that is to flash ur phone with Official Roms, theres nothing to worry about if u can still go to download mode and if odin can detect ur phone

Help help help

I did an Odin wipe and now the touch isnt working on my phone!! What do I DO!? Its stock so it goes straight to MTP transfer instead of debugging and I cant change it. PLEASE HELP.
What do you mean the touch? Give more details
Alright, well I was having problems with dig11fs rom so I decided I wanted to install serendepity 5.0. I plug in my phone, run odin and go into download mode. Once in download mode I press start and it goes through and does the factory reset of my phone. My phone turns on and the "swipe screen to unlock" screen comes up. I try to swipe it and nothing. I try going back to download mode and maybe running odin again. Not working. I try different things but overall my touch screen isnt working at all. I went to recovery and deleted user and cache thinking maybe something will work. Phone boots back up and still nothing. I can't do anything cuz I cant get to usb debugging without being able to use the touchscreen.
I just did a master clear with odin and still my touch screen isnt responding! The buttons are working fine but the touch screen is not.
This is a new one.
Pull battery or for a couple minutes. Then try again
what is the build of your phone, located under battery, something like 1008
I think you are in store for a jig
It says 10.08 on the white sticker under my battery.
Have you used odin before, what its the name of the odin file you used?
I have used odin a few times before. Not a problem. I tried the battery pull, nothing.
I used the newest odin "I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.zip" I just downloaded it about an hour ago.
Good news is that you are on stock, so if need be call at&t and file warranty claim. You said matter clear went through correct/
Have you had problems with three button combo in the past?
Do you know what a jig is?
I can get to download mode no problem with the 3 button method. Thats not the problem and I have ideas of what a jig is but if it can help me right at this moment i would appreciate the information.
You can still.get into dl mode?
Have you tried odin flash more then once

A jig wont help, if you can get to download mode you don't need a jig. this sounds like a bad flash, try flashing stock again.
Yes I can get into dl mode and I tried twice so far.
I actually have a charger in my house that will disable the touch screen. I once made the mistake of trying to flash using CWM while my phone was plugged up to that charger and when everything booted back up my touch screen was disabled completely. I was able to Odin back to stock and reflash everything.

Go find the post for the Stock rom with the 3 button fix and the ODIN that is not one click and use that. the one click downloader does strange things sometimes. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THAT POST COMPLETELY BEFORE FLASHING.
This one.
1. Download ODIN and the PIT file and extract it somewhere.
2. Download the PDA file and put it in the directory where you extracted ODIN and PIT to.
3. open ODIN and click the PIT button and choose the PIT file that came with it.
4. click on the PDA Button and choose the PDA.tar that you downloaded from the post.
5. power off your phone completely.
6.Hold down vol up and vol down and plug in the cable.
7. Click start.
So i tried using a different charger, nothing. I'm trying to run the not one click odin.

Bricked or Boot loop - help needed

Hi people!
I got bricked my galaxy mini gt-s5570, but not totaly (that means I can still use the download mode, and RAMDUMP ARM9 mode) but I can't power up the phone. That happened after I used ODIN for gt-s5570 and changed the Kernel (I forgot to make backup before), and device was working well with the new kernel, but after it I use the same step in ODIN to get back to the old one. So the result is, when I'm pushing the power key the screen starts to blinks and nothing more! But as I say download mode, and ARM9 mode are still working. Any solution for this?
just download the new firmware from samfirmware.com n flash it thru odin as u can go to download mode..n ur phone will be back to life again..
i accidently pressed thanks on ur first post
I can't, I don't have access to recovery mode, it doesn't work!

[Q] No boot, no samsung logo, no download mode

Ok i put my device into download mode with picture then flashed my i9000 with http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1160580
i now know this was the wrong FW for my device since then i cannot boot my phone normally nor get into download mode with the picture
it works fine just if i pull battery or turn off the phone
all i get is a black screen with "home & back buttons lit up"
however when i attach my device to odine it recognizes the phone first time
i dont have to do anything, i've tried flashing stock FW
same result black screen buttons lit up no DL mode with pic no boot
i've tried flashing FW with sbl success odine tells me,
no luck again, also when i try to flash 3 files
it always hangs then fails on modem, however if i flash allinone it works
but only boots with odine & not on its own & without samsung boot image
i can flash modem on its own via psa tab with success, i've also tried the jig to get into normal DL mode, but to no avail
also when i plug usb cable in & take out battery phone turns off
its like the usb is not a power source, ive tried on my laptop, ac adapter & pc all same result
to summerise:
i can flash my phone however if i turn off device i it will not boot
on its own & have to reflash via odine but with no boot logo only sounds
im thinking the only solution is samsung service centre but i can hazard a guess the price of a new mobo will prob be the same as the phone its self secondhand on ebay
any ideas? thanks
P.S when i flash 2 or more files i use pit 512, what if i didnt use a pit or used a different one would it make a difference?
P.P.S kies does recognize device once its flashed but cant find any updates on FW
would doing an emergency restore with an .sbu file fix this boot issue?
& where could i get an .sbu file from as i didnt do a backup
Did you also check “repartition“ in odin when you flash with the pit file?
It sounds like you've toasted the bootloader flashing a wrong firmware. But since you can get Odin connected and flash you might be able to recover.
You'll need to flash a stock firmware with bootloaders, Darky RE should have bootloaders. Follow the instructions on the page.
Good luck
In fact if you can't go into DL mode you can use a thing called JIG repair.
you'll need a 300K resistor (which exactly 301K) and a micro-USB plug.

What ansonscleung linked to is a Jig, Jtag is something completely different all together. If Odin won't recover your phone, I can't guarantee the jig will work. Although it will help getting to download mode and maybe help flashing the proper firmware.

You're correct, guy. A JIG cost about HK$15.5 ($15 for a Micro USB port and $0.5 resistor) (approx. US$1.99 €1.5 not incl. transportation fee) or spend US$8 here.
Hope you can pass through those stuff and enjoy back your phone!

I have this problem before and i managed to use ODIN3 v1.83 (can use Odin3 v3.07) to detect my phone and flash a stock rom onto the device. I followed the advice given on this excellent thread by Supermini.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
As mentioned on his thread make sure you have the latest stock firmware from the sammobile site or by using Check Fus Downloader as per the guide in Rafael thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156, a working samsung USB driver to detect your mobile on your PC and a copy of ODIN3 v1.83 (or v1.84, v1.87, v3.07 run ODIN in administrator mode if using in windows). Ultimately if this this fails you could always try a USB jig which can be purchased from ebay, etc. to get the phone into download mode.
Good luck and if this helps make sure you send a thank you to Supermini.

So . . . last thing to rescue your phone is buy on e-bay or in other place JIG if it isn't help you then try in phone service and say you tried install new ROM with Kies and your phone is brick (maybe it'll work).
Say to Service Centre Representatives that you kept your at charging last night
And when you woke up
It was not booting up
Pretend as if you dunno anything about root or ROM
They fixed my bricked phone
I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rule by telling this
Hey bro sorry for the late reply also, please before you do anything else try following my instructions.
1) download Odin v3.07
2) source the stock firmware you want to flash from sammobile.
3) make sure you have the Samsung mobile driver.
4) open and run Odin as administrator and load the single file in the PDA and highlight the tick box.
5) shut the phone down and take out your Sim card.
6) put the mobile into download mode as normal (press both up/down vol keys +power)
7) connect the phone to the PC and check in Odin to make sure its com port is detected.
8) then flash through Odin as normal.
I understand what your saying about no download screen appearing, I have found through experience that custom kernels can cause no download screen to appear. Normally with stock kernel this is not a problem but with custom kernels sometimes all you get is a black screen. Ignore this and just make sure that Odin is detecting the phone and try to flash, chances are it will flash the stock ROM and kernel. If you get the setup connection error in Odin and the fail 0\1 just try another USB port on your PC and keep persevering.
Please keep us updated so we can help you if you need it.

Why will it be hardbricked if the custom roms are based on s5830i stock roms?
But it is probable that we did I not flash the rom properly as per procedure..so is there a chance that it be bricked? Else the rom may have some problem... just telling the probability
