I've autonootered the nook. The box that enables it is checked, but it still won't let me install any apps. Anyone ever have this?
Same here- have also tried to copy into the /system/app folder to install but it wont allow through astro. Appreciate some pointers.

Try unchecking then rechecking the box that allows installs from non-market sources.

worked for me as well
And the step to do that is in the Rooting information on the Nookdevs Wiki. http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Rooting#Enable_Market
So what if unchecking and rechecking non market apps does not fix the issue
I have rooted this device twice now and I have followed the directions to a T and I am still unable to download any apps from the Market. I can login to YouTube no problem...and Gmail. I am unable to connect to GTalk any suggestions or do I just give up on rooting my device.
Love XDA. Was about to post a thread about this problem and - bam! Problem solved.
happened to me. Try wiping cache.
Edit: Just realized it was solved.

Don't bother. I had same problem. Go to modaco and use Paul's superboot. Works like a charm

I had lots of problems with that too. Download the PDAnet desktop client to your computer, this will install the USB drivers needed. They could probably be installed other ways but that took of the waiting for device issue for me.

Are you blind? UniversalAndroot does not work after 2.2
And anyways, SuperOneClick works great if your drivers are installed correctly...

was a must for me to get this working with WinXP and the Galaxy Fascinate. The PDAnet applicaiton was crucial in getting my PC to recognize the driver. Thanks for the tips all.

I had the same problem and posted my solution in the main SOC thread. Here's what I did:
I used SOC 1.5.1. I had Debugging enabled and turned the phone off. I opened SOC and clicked 'Root.' When the prompt said 'Waiting for Device,' I turned the phone on. SOC did it's thing, and it properly remounted the phone. Everything is good now. I hope this works for you!!!
i have a cliq xt and superoneclick keeps ending with read only, can anyone help?

Go to the appbrain website, login. There you have a "list" (Apps on the ***) for devices. You can move apps to the new list that was created for the new firmware.
Thanks. There were three lists for some reason. Moved all apps onto all lists and it worked. Thanks again.
Hello Forum first of all thank you for your support. I have an issue with (enable non market) from super one click. my device is a stock 2.2 rooted captivate, thanks again, to S.O.C. but I was unable to unlock market. I get a fail and no S.U. permission pop up on my device. Am I missing a file on my PC or my phone?
Did you root it? if you did root it, did you restart? is there an error message? if so what does it say?
When an app like Super One Click is looking for SU access, you have to watch the screen on the phone. You are supposed to get a dialog box saying that Superuser is requesting access. When you choose Yes, you should be in business.

And

Just got my Nook today, and am interested in rooting it. I'm looking for the best method to do so.
I have rooted my HTC Inspire using Bubby's one click method, so I'm not completely unfamiliar with the process, but want to make sure of the preferred method for the Nook before I started.
Any and all insight would be appreciated.

I just use the version room manager has.

That would be appreciated, things I'm wanting to do:
- Market (I've got various items I paid for, that I would like to try).
- Fix ROM Manager, when trying to download, I get "Must upgrade...", then a force close. I'm assuming this is because I don't have the paid version installed, which I can download from Market (since I purchased it)
- Install Amazon Kindle (for the irony factor).
Any insight would be great, since I'm obviously new at this (I've owned my Nook for about 15 hours)

I used the method described in Cyanogen's wiki and had the same issue. I ended up having to install through recovery instead of ROM Manager.
So is rom manager not working for you?

OK, I am now officially pissing myself. I am now able to get into Clockwork Recovery, I've wiped Factory/Cache/Dalvik, applied CM, and after a system reboot, it just goes back into recovery.
Help!
I am not having any luck whatsoever, and am afraid I bricked my device.
I've attempted to do a CM install (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barnes_&_Noble_Nook_Color:_Full_Update_Guide), but after putting the image on, and rebooting, it goes to black, but never comes back up.
Not sure what to try at this point.
OK, something new, I was able to return back to 1.0.1, but when I get to step 5 of setup, it indicates there is a problem, and to call B&N. It reports that the serial number, model number, and Mac address ing as "MISSING", and it is at version 1.0.1.
I do have a blue dot on the box.

Can I 100% backup by original everything (KERNEL-ROM-I dont know what else etc) so that I can revert back to original system?
I am 99% sure you need to be rooted, otherwise how would you access them like find them on your device because I am rooted and use EX Manager as root user and that's how I side load them but anyone else please correct me?
