How many people disappointed with the new iPhone? Are people actually going to buy a repackaged iPhone 4? Yes, because there are always sheep.
Apple is really great at repackaging their products, iPhone 3g > iphone 3gs.
I would stick with an iPhone 4 if.I already have it. Only thing great about this whole ordeal is that the previous versions are way cheap but a bit outdated.

Can i just use this thread to get a bit of fanboism out.
They changed the camera and all hell will break lose on release day. And the price.. good god. For me in the UK i won't get use of 4G until 2013, not that i was ever going to buy this piece of junk. Makes me love my Desire HD even more.

Ok back to normal.
What happened with all the rumors of larger screen, teardrop design, supposedly thinner? Maybe in the works for next year.
If people actually line up for this and wait for hours it has to be the end of our civilization as we now it.

That was an Epic FAIL for apple. And when I say Epic, I mean Epic Touch already has all those features hardware wise! Nothing new frrom Apple but a repackaged iPhone 4 with the same hardware already found in other phones. In fact, they are already behind with the Nexus Prime rumored to have the new Exynos 1.5Ghz Dual Core in it, so by the time the iPhone 5 comes out, they will already be behind again.
Copying BBM, Android Notifications, Google's cloud, 1080P video recording, and hardware found in other phones already, I was totally disappointed.
Instead of being the innovators, it looks like Apple is now playing catch up.

I have an iPhone 4 and knew over a month ago that the new iPhone would be very much the same as the current one but with upgraded specs and internal hardware.
Nevertheless, I'm a bit glad because I won't feel compelled to exchange my iPhone 4 for the 4S. I will, however, enjoy using iOS5 on my iPhone 4 on Oct 12.
the major difference is just a faster CPU
and now it can do both CDMA + GSM in one phone
everything else is not even worth mentioning as they are really seasoning on top of the meat
their marketing team is pretty good at what they do, i'm assuming the 5 will be along these new specs but with LTE chips, NFC and maybe a little something else?...
christmas time?
Here is what the 4S provides:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/iphone-4s-vs-iphone-4-the-tale-of-the-tape/
Siri is really cool, and the upgraded CPU and GPU is nice too, but it looks like i'm going to stick with Android and buy the Galaxy Humongous aka the Galaxy Note.

Wow! I didn't realize how bad off MS stock is. MS stock
Google looks to be the highest earner. Google stock
Goes some way to explain why Apple feel so threatened by the other phpne manufacturers, Apple didn't have anything in this year's pipeline to compete.
Wow, I was waiting to see what Apples response to the Galaxy S2 would be and they release an iphone 4 with a different processor. I wonder how dumbfounded Samsung and Google and HTC are. The Christmas season is just around the corner and Apple is still trying to milk a phone a year and a half old. I swear, if they get record sales I'm going to lose all faith in humanity.
I don't know if any of you all have heard of this or not. Theirs this company that uses cloud gaming to let you play games on your computer (no matter the specs). All you need is good internet speed. It even streams games to your smartphone. I was playing dirt 3 with almost no lag on my galaxy s. They have a pretty decent library of current Gen games. The way it ran on my PC was impressive but the way it ran on my phone was amazing.
Its called "onlive". Just Google it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I mucked around with OnLive back during beta, it was definitely neat -- but (at the time) the lag was unbearable. It's nice to hear it's gotten (getting?) better, though. It really is a fantastic concept..
I just started with it. I rented arkham city for 3 days for 6 dollars. I don't have that great of a PC. Dual core 2.4 ghz. The computer was bought in like 2005. But I have a good net speed. 40 to 50 mbps. I have had flawless gameplay the whole time I've been playing. If it had a bigger library it would knock GameFly out the park.
P.s. not all games are rentable. Some you have to buy at retail price and you can't play it anywhere else other than onlive.

as long as you have your onlive account you have it.......... and you can play it virtually everywhere you can download the client. OR you could carry a backpack full of your favorite games and install / update everywhere ;0)
I never pay full price for games even if I get the disk. I rent or borrow them. I'm essentially using this service for games that can be beat in a short amount of time. I beat arkham city in about 2 days with some side quests. This service will get better over time.
By the way they offer great offers. During the the week of Thanksgiving they were offering either arkham city, revelations, or saints row 3 for one dollar to "own" on onlive. Also I think you get Lego Batman for free when you sign up

So don't pay full price, OnLive constantly has really good sales and giveaways. I have 17 games with them and have paid a total of about $115. Half of them were free, Deus-Ex HR Augmented Ed. was 90 cents and came with the original Deus Ex. The only game I paid full price for was Homefront and that's because it came with their game console for my TV plus Metro 2033.
been using onlive through my galaxy s2. very nice ui. games work nicely too.
.
have had an account since launch.... add me: shoot_him-not_me
Onlive would be great with full HDMI mirroring.

I'm actually going to be throwing a SSD into my laptop. Even without it though it is really quick. Plus it has dual video cards. The standard Intel card runs when you are doing simple stuff like browsing the web to save power. Once you start something that is graphics intensive the Nvidia GT 630M kicks in.
I play Diablo 3 on max settings on this thing just fine.
Hp envy spectare is something that you would like.. i am an architect so i use AutoCAD all the time.. this thing handles it well.. I've seen my collegues useing it..
But my personal suggesstion don't go for much small screen if you use CAD..
Buy a msi GE60-0ND-042US.. I use it personally and I'm happy with it in all aspects..
I went to best buy today to look around and I really like the series 9 and the new zenbook. I'm really into the idea of an ultrabook

Was in my cart from play store. Complete impulse buy. I don't need it. I don't even know what I would use it for. I just rooted my touchpad, which will keep me happy for a few days. Have a galaxy s3, which I love. Does everything I need. I was wavering tonight between this, the g-note, and the Asus transformer i700. The last two get such mixed reviews...so I'm really leaning towards this. I think the smaller screen and cheaper price tag make it a much better choice. I just want a new toy. I'm hoping I can see one in person tomorrow.

I had an iPad 3 before getting my Nexus 7. Now my wife uses the iPad 3. I just can't stop using the Nexus 7! I find myself use my computer less and almost don't use my phone except for as a phone or when I'm out and I don't have my Nexus 7 with me.
If you don't have a family member who can take your old tablets off your hands, I'd recommend selling them or trading them in and get the Nexus 7. Assuming you get a flawless unit, you'll love the little guy.
I barely use my macbook pro anymore...even though I love it. I find the gs3 really satisfies everything I need. The bigger pads are just too big to be comfortable. If I were to get a bigger one it would probably be the iPad3, seems like the best overall package. Just hate that I can't customize it as much. I think the 7 will really be the perfect fit for me. Just hope that I get more use out of it than my HP.

WOW slim do not be such a dizzy..
As far as this Device I love the size . It seems to be the size vs the other bigger tablets . A phone or galaxy note is to small for a tablet. but to big for a phone.. I am the owner of a ACER A500 AND Love the Device. My spouse uses it on the couch now since i have my Nexus with me all the time. She is becoming and Android APP.CHIC.. I love that i can fit this in my smaller purse or a bigger clutch type bag and pack it anywhere and still look Good ..Not like im packing a Diaper bag to hold my tablet in...
I say its a personal thing rather this fits your needs or not.. If you have a bigger device you could very well think this is too small..
Look at the specs and what you want it for and make a Educated decision do NOT base buying anything on some one else saying they have and Love it.. GET WANTS Practical for you as long as there is NO APPLE ON IT.. APPLES ARE FOR WORMS ...

I own both an iPad 3 and a Nexus 7
I tend to find the Nexus is better for organisation, also for reading news. However the iPad is better for "Creating" content, or for doing actual work. Purely because it has more apps (and very good ones too)
Hopefully Android catches up and offers high quality content creation apps soon
I would recommend a Nexus tho

I think it's hilarious that people spend thousands of dollars on parts for new gaming computers to play World of Warcraft "better" when it runs just fine on 5 year old tech. Or how the powers that be keep adding new dimensions to textures and special effects but they forget to add new dimensions to the games themselves. Kind of the same deal.

If we are satisfied with our tegra3 devices, we shouldn't care that much about the next tegra. This one is good enough to play any games we want, without any lag. We can go further and overclock the cpu for even more performance. The technology is advancing every day, but I think there's nothing to worry about, especially when we have such powerful devices.
*crosses fingers that next Nexus 7 type of device will have Tegra 4 and 1080P*
It would take both of those for me to want to upgrade from my current Nexus 7.
The software/programmable modem and the HDD features are actually nice new features, which could help make some good devices.
The problem is going to be how many manufacturers still want to use Tegra over the new chips from Qualcomm and even Intel. But that's all good for the consumer though, as it keeps everyone on their toes.
I liked the look of the Shield last night at their press conference and can't wait for my briefing with Nvidia tomorrow to hopefully get a hands on.

I am disappointed with early Gpu bench of t4, apple still at the top
IMO even if we get a new Nexus tablet with Tegra 4 onboard - there's not much sense in rushing towards the newer tech - N7 today is one of the fastest and most powerful tablets on the market and it's available for more than reasonable price
So don't rush - just wait until Nexus y2014

Yea you can build a $500 PC that will run games mostly maxed.
Anyway on Tegra4... nah. The Tegra is kind of a double edged sword. It is nice when games are built for it and optimized but it sucks when they aren't.
Most other GPUs just work with what they got... and work good. Plus NVidia has always been complicated to work with in Linux because of their closed sourced drivers. So when there are problems like how our screen washes out after movies and the likes, we devs can't fix them but only find workarounds.
This also means the community can't optimize the drivers ourselves. We are reliant on Nvidia to spoon feed us fixes and support. The same oppression we love to loathe.
The transition from 3 to 4 doesn't even really strike me as a must have.
Kinda sucks for the Onya gaming box though... it is going to be Tegra3. That would have been a good thing to simultaneously release together. And I can't remember anything that was Tegra3 only outside of timed releases.
Concluding that my N7 is great and does what I want when I want. I'm keeping this for the long haul. I'm still happy with it. I'm not sure what could even sway me into a new device.

Apple treats every mobile product as a flagship. This is part of their business model; their newest product is always the best, and better than anything else they have to offer. This is how they continue to jack up the price and convince people to keep paying for it. "Well, I paid $700 for the last iThing, and they say this one is better. It must surely be worth the $800 they're charging."
On topic, I think nVidia is playing some numbers game with this 72-core gpu. The same way HDD makers sell a 1TB drive that really has 850GiB of space. The same reason your internet company measures their speed in Mbits instead of Mbytes, while it is impossible for them to transfer a single bit. They use some linguistical magic so they can use bigger numbers to describe the product.

I have to agree, its a numbers game. Anyone remember when amd spanked intel at lower clock speeds?
Not to mention "core fatigue" how many threads can one program run before the complexity makes it unmanageable? Before race conditions become a nightmare? I hit race conditions while compiling with 4 cores 5 jobs with gcc, not very often but it happens and simply trying again without any changes works..
With apple you get a one size fits all, "designer" device. You're buying "apple" brand. Yeah apple can make some good quality products and can even make some revolutionary ideas, but so does Louis Vuitton.
Is it worth the extra 600$ to stamp an apple on it?
