...with any other launcher than touch wiz. I emptied the tw screens and.reduced them to one home screen, but still think about going back to tw. Anyone else expierence this? Is there a solution?

I didn't use TouchWiz for long before going to LauncherProPlus. But I can say that removing any clock widget(android, beautiful widget, clockr) from your home screen noticeably increases battery life.

I'm talking iPhone 4 smooth. I played with it today. (No, I'm not a fanboy of either side, but I prefer Android!)
I'm usually using either Sense's Rosie, or when on froyo, LauncherPro.
I am a heavy widget user, and have either full screen or 2-3 widgets per screen.
The feel that you get when you launch an app on iPhone... just feels... like its popping up instead of zooming.
Anything you guys could recommend? Any specific ROM's?
ROM's I have tried:
Desire R22.1
RoDrIgUeZsTyLe
Stock 2.2
Launcher pro, or adw launcher. I personally prefer launcher pro, it also had some really nice extra features.

Also regarding popping up instead of zooming if you are rooted, check out the spare parts app settings for the transition animations. Set them to fast if you wantt apps to pretty much pop instantly.

+1, what you're feeling is not related to the launcher, or the speed of the OS, it's just a design choice about the speed of the transitions. I agree with you so I made the transition speed about 30% faster [try to do that on an iPhone...]
I personally use Launcher Pro. It's absurdly fast. I've tried to get it to lag just to see what it would take but it's super responsive and won't miss a frame even if you want it to. The feature-set of Launcher Pro is quickly approaching that for ADW and it's much more polished.
I find both Launcher Pro and ADW.Launcher to be insanely fast too. I'm not sure about the OP, but if you are using a Live Wallpaper, try it with just a static one, then it is perfectly smooth while scrolling.

try cyanogen, can't get any smoother than that.
it comes with ADWLauncher which is nice too.

My launcherPro lags when I have 2-3 widgets per page. I am using IntersectRaven's kernel, maybe it's that?
In Launcher Pro, set "memory usage" to "high".
HelixLauncher on 2.1 is the smoothest I've found. Unfortunately it doesn't work on 2.2 so I'm using ADW on Froyo.
I saw a post somewhere that insinuated that launcherPro used more battery than the stock launcher, thus decreasing battery life.
Have any of you any comments regarding this? I have always been a LauncherPro user and i have always complained about battery life with various devices ( I found the HTC Inspire almost unusable because of poor battery life and the Atrix was a similar experience and even my broken HTC desire Z was borderline for battery).
I recently switched back to the stock launcher (albeit without actually uninstalling Launcher Pro) and I can't say I've noticed any difference in battery life.
I would say though that using the LP Pro widgets for Friends and having that do frequent sync checks will chew through some battery life, if you didn't have similar widgets on the go in the stock launcher.

I just got worse framerates when using Launcherpro, no battery drain though.
It was a must on the HTC Hero, on the nexus S its kind of pointless i guess.
Hi to everyone
I just wondering if live wallpapers consume more battery than simple wallpapers. Does anybody know?
Thanks!

Probably yes. But, imho, it should be negligible, if the LG2x is behaving properly. But, as with most bleeding-edge tech, I think almost anything can throw a spanner in the works right now. So, in that respect, I think it's probably best to reduce homescreen aesthetics until LG get round to taming the stability issues.

I recently switched to go launcher. The launcher is awesome and I want to keep using it, but every once and a while it just gets super laggy. Making the app drawer practicly non responsive. What settings should I look into? Running cm7 and have messed with CPU as much as 1.8ghz and performance governor and it still does it ..

force it to stay in memory and it will be fine without overclocking.
settings → cyanogen settings → performance settings → lock home in memory
Just fyi, you would get a quicker (normally) answer if you post it in q/a instead of themes/apps. I just happen to look at most of the sections.

Most likely something you're doing on your phone then, since it's okay for me with RC 1.2 and I'm undervolted and running at 1ghz.
You can also tell it to stay persistent within go launcher as well under preferences. If it's not that, it's your system most likely causing problems. I upped my vm heap size though as well, but that shouldn't affect go launcher. It was just causing my gallery and such to crash at times because it ran out of memory.
Increased vm, seems to be working well. I might go ahead and uninstall adw too, I think its running in the bg from time to time. Also might be time for a fresh install

I get lag on the home screens after I unlock my phone with any launcher except Sense. I have my phone oc'd too.

Go launcher is EXTREMELY smooth on thunderbread so its def not the launcher itself. No lag after unlock or any anywhere.
Unlocking issue is not launcher related. It's a (mis)configuration of something you did on your phone.
E.g. too undervolted, using setcpu + some other script at the same time, or using interactivex instead of ondemandx (which can cause it to lag for me at least).
I know this thread is from a couple weeks ago, but I was searching for "go launcher" info .... I just installed it and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I have been using LPro forever and decided to try something new, glad I did, I love to be able to change everything around, themes, etc., at will.
Anyway, I'm running CM7 1.2 w/stock everything, no over/under clocking, etc., and GO Launcher runs smooth as buttah for me
I was using GO Launcher when I had Bamf 1.7. Everything was super smooth and battery life would last over two days with very minimal use. Flashed CM7, new leaked radio and running GO Launcher and it seems to lag a bit. It isn't as smooth when flipping through the screens. There's a bit of lag when the screen bounces back. Also battery life has gone way down. I can barely get a days worth with minimal use.
I had heard about it before. Installed it a couple of days before to see if it really helps. The app says that my battery life is improved by 1.57x. But I don't see any improvement!
Does it make sense using it with custom roms?
I am running CM7 gearhead kang.

I prefer green power over JD. I had the paid version of both and think green power got more accomplished with less battery drain than JD. Now don't get me wrong I did notice a tiny increase in battery when I had JD, but it seems like a bigger increase with green power and it feels like it uses less resources to me with that. But in the end I guess it comes down to personal preferences, hope I helped!
Thanks for the info. With JD I don't see any improvement at all.
I will try green power
