[Q] hello! - Nook Color General

please welcome me to the nook community!
i just bought a nook color (it's currently in the mail )and am looking for some guidance rooting and installing a custom rom... or anything that will give me froyo.
Let me start by saying i have had the droid1 and currently have the droid2 (both rooted, themed, romd', over clocked etc.) So in other words i have some experience.. but i was wondering if i could get some feedback/opinions on the most stable things going out there in regards to rooting. Are there custom roms?
i heard Koush's CWM recovery works on the nook, is that true?
I am currently reading as many threads as possible to get up to speed - so please bear with me.

bootable ginger sd?

Hello all,
just got m nook color and don't fully want to mod internal software quite yet and was looking for a bootable sd version of ginger bread like CM& and couldn't find one.
Found the one for honeycomb but not gingerbread.
Anyone know if there is even one for the sd bootable where don't touch internal software.
Thanks again.
Unfortunately at this time there is no SD bootable version of CM7. I am learning how all the stuff works and hope to make one soon but I have no time line for the project as I am not a developer and don't know if I will ultimately have time to make it. If I do get one do look for it in the dev board, but again, no promises and please do not bombard my PMs or the forums with 'when is it coming' messages.
Really, that would by nice. But the bootables have some speed issues.
I am constructing a dualboot rooted Eclair / CM7 gingerbread, based on multipliable thread posts and the work of the great devs here. Some seem to run this daily. I hope I can get it up and running too.
Speed issues aside alot of people, myself included, do not necessarily want to flash their MMC for a variety of reasons but still want to be able to run the neat stuff. I have my NC rooted and tons of stuff installed with no reboot issues and the like so that my main reason for trying to create a CM7 SD.

[Q] Need A Little Help With These Roms...

Hi everyone!
I've been an android user since the G1 and have had many different devices since then(htc magic, sony ericsson xperia x10, lg eve-yuck, htc desire, etc) and I have now just jumped on board with the Galaxy Tab!!!
I'm totally stoked and very happy to be joining everyone here in samsung tablet land, and I just wanted a litttle helping hand to speed things up for me a bit
So basically, I have a GSM tab thru rogers that I have just rooted and installed clockworkmod recovery on. I decided to flash the MoDaCo custom rom on and play around for a bit with no problem. What I need some help with tho, is maybe a brief explaining of the differences between the very few roms available right now for our tabs.. overcome v1.2.3, MoDaCo, etc.
I know for example, when dealing with my desire, there are a bunch of roms all catering to diff needs/wants/etc and they have diff looks and features not to mention diff versions of android-2.1/2.2/2.3
Whats the deal with the galaxy tab? Any help is much appreciated. Opinions are all welcome.
(if 3.0 honeycomb was available I wouldn't be asking this right now lol)
THANKS EVERYONE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO KEEPING UP WITH THE TAB SCENE ALONG WITH YOU ALL!!!!!!
Hi!
i needed some help from you.As you said u have installed the clockworkmod recovery.I have been trying to do that from the past 2 days but im not able to.i have unrooted my samsung tab, and i have checked if the bootloader is locked and it is not.and i have installed the Rom Manager. But when i try to click "FLASH CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY" i get and error " error while downloading from server. Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space!" Can you please help me with this?
Hey, sorry for the late reply..
I had a few problems starting out with rom manager as well.. You have probably figured it out already, but I would grab the overcome rom that has cwm attached already.. Super easy. Once you get it installed you can easily use rom manager to boot into cwm whenever you like..

Nook Color Question

There are so many NC's topics that got me really confused, I only have a question that I hope someone can give me some advice. I just got me a NC with with firmware 1.2 and I want to be able to multiboot with GingerBread, HoneyComb as well as the NC stock OS, could someone tell me the steps that I need? Thanks in advance.
I would recommend avoiding the HoneyComb builds as they are buggy. We do not have the source code for HC so it will alwys be buggy. As for Gingerbread, I would recommend CM7.1.0, the latest stable build. As many folks here hve detailed the best route to dual boot cm7 and stock, I will refer you to the excellent threads on that topic. I do not run dual boot as cm7 serves all my needs. I have not had the stock firmware on my nook since the second day I had it. Good luck with your new nook and don't forget to have fun.

[Q] ICS Possilbe...??

Hi All...I'm relatively new to android rooting and would like to know what custom ROM's are available for the Droid Bionic??
Some members were very helpful with my questions recently when I rooted my HTC Thunderbolt.
It seems that the Bionic is a little more difficult to work with and I hope there are some options.
My preference would be a fully functional ICS rom, however, if the best I will do is GB then it has to be. I have to have all of the phone working and without hic-cups (phone, data, wifi, camera, etc.)...I am a heavy daily user and cannot afford to loose any functionality.
Please let me know what options are possible and add the links I will need to both root and install the files. I know there are past threads with this question, but I find it easier to follow new answers.
Thank you all for your help,
ghdroiduser
We are on the verge of ICS right now. There are tons of leaks, but anything newer than 232 will be unable to receive the official OTA.

[Q] Upgrading from CM9

I've got my Verizon SCH-1800 that I wanted to start using again.
Looking at it now, I'm on CM 9-20120511-NIGHTLY-p1c, which is 4.0.4
The kernel is 2.6.35.7-g8f42093, [email protected]#1
I've been reading around about new ROMs, etc but if I'm not mistaken, back when I rooted this processes were very particular about how to root this tablet and all I'm seeing is a lot of older threads. I guess I'm hoping someone can answer two simple questions for me:
- Is there a method of rooting that is the definitive way for this tablet?
- After so much time, is there a version of Android that is most stable for this aging tablet? ICS, JB?
Thank you if anyone can help, I appreciate it.
If you have CM9, then you have root access. As to stable or good rom's, you just have to read up on the different ones to see what sounds good to you. Then flash it. Don't like it? Try another.

Ok, so from now on it's just a question of installing zips via recovery? I never have to go back to stock again like you once used to?
Something more must be needed because I can't even flash this CM ROM without problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032726
Recovery says it's a bad ZIP. But I got it from that link.
